@starkid I debated whether to push them to day 5 but in the end decided against it and the embryologist agreed its best to do day 3. She said the thaw rate for day 3 is about as good day 5.
Well if you're not testing, I won't tell you what the appropriate time is :)

starkid · 23/05/2021 15:59

@KatBeCool - so they froze them all at day 3? Shame they didn't leave a couple to see if they get to day 5 for freezing at blastocyst level, but great that you have 6 in the freezer ready to go :)

starkid · 23/05/2021 15:58

@KatBeCool aha nice congrats! I'm gonna try not to do any home tests :O Wouldn't even know when I'm due on my period to be honest, my cycles the last 2 have been longer than usual, and don't really understand when to test after a frozen cycle haha so I'm just gonna leave it til at least like, next Saturday? I don't know - it was a day 7 blastocyst transferred Tuesday 18th. Not a clue what that correlates to regarding post ovulation dates!

KatBeCool · 23/05/2021 15:13

@starkid all six made it to freeze! One thing that worries me is that was when most of my embryos dropped off last time, after day 3. So hopefully these ones are all viable.
How are you doing? Not testing yet?

starkid · 23/05/2021 12:59

@KatBeCool - hi how did it got with freezing?

KatBeCool · 21/05/2021 17:11

@starkid twinges are always good. All fingers crossed!

starkid · 21/05/2021 17:01

@KatBeCool - Ah cool well fingers crossed for lots of good ones to freeze :)
I'm doing ok yeah! I had some strange twinges/cramps in my very lower abdomen the early hours of yesterday morning, apart from that no symptoms or anything of note, and doubt that was anything exciting as was only 1-2 days after tranfer.

Blood test is Tuesday 1st June, glad I have lots of things happening over the next week to distract me during most that time :)

KatBeCool · 21/05/2021 16:02

@starkid yes, six were on their way. I should find out tomorrow their grades upon freezing and hopefully they all made it. How are you doing?

ValidUser · 21/05/2021 11:48

@KatBeCool impressed with your hiking! Sorry to hear the eggs weren't what you'd hoped. Looking forward to your updates, though, and hoping one of those becomes your baby.

starkid · 21/05/2021 09:37

Wow glad you feel ok after the egg retrieval, sorry you didn't get as many mature eggs from all those follicles. So you have 6 potentially being frozen?

KatBeCool · 20/05/2021 23:29

@ValidUser not as great news as I had hoped. Got a call today, they retrieved 9 eggs, 8 were mature, but only 4 fertilized. We also added on four donor eggs, only two survived the thaw and both fertilized. We decided to freeze on day 3. Hopefully they at least all make it. Transfer would be next cycle. I still cannot believe how easy this retrieval was on me. We went hiking today for like 3 hours!

ValidUser · 20/05/2021 15:12

@KatBeCool that's tough going. Here's hoping they're mature and good quality. x

starkid · 20/05/2021 08:28

@KatBeCool aw I can see why you'd be disappointed after the potential of 16 but keep positive, 7 chances of a baby still at the moment. I only had 7 eggs too.
Great that you didn't have nausea afterwards. Look after yourself and keep us updated 😊

KatBeCool · 20/05/2021 02:53

Out of 16 follicles they got only 7 eggs, don't even know if they're all mature, so I'm quite upset. Won't know anything until later. On the other hand, anesthesiologist was great, and I was only a little sore afterwards and no nausea whatsoever.

starkid · 19/05/2021 10:28

@MotherOfShihTzus - they actually didn't say how thick the lining was, but it was 11mm on Friday so I presume it didn't get thinner..!
Good luck with your appointment tomorrow and fingers crossed for speediness going forward!

MotherOfShihTzus · 19/05/2021 09:50

@KatBeCool best of luck for today!

How was the lining looking @starkid ? Sounds like you did all the right things :)

We have final nurses appt tomorrow so we shall see what they say. Hoping we can push on quickly! But everything has been painstakingly slow thus far.

starkid · 18/05/2021 17:31

I was so hungry beforehand and had my collection late with no food all day so thought I'd be starving, but yeah one bite and it immediately came back up, silly me. Maybe something light and refreshing would have been fine but not a nasty burger!

KatBeCool · 18/05/2021 16:55

@starkid all fingers crossed for you! I am definitely not eating McDonald's. I don't know how others can just eat it right after waking up.

starkid · 18/05/2021 16:00

@KatBeCool - good luck tomorrow, 17 follicles sounds positive! Don't eat mcdonalds on the way home like i did, I puked straight after haha Grin

Embryo transfer was really quick and easy this time, in and out the clinic in half an hour, but my god that speculum BURNED going in this time, my eyes watered!

KatBeCool · 18/05/2021 15:06

@ValidUser thank you! This better work for me, I'm so exhausted from trying month to month.

ValidUser · 18/05/2021 12:48

@KatBeCool I'm excited for you. I mean, I'm far from naive and IVF is so tough and downright crap at times. But keeping everything crossed for you.

KatBeCool · 17/05/2021 23:16

@MotherOfShihTzus I'm triggering tonight, egg collection on Wednesday. I don't qualify for fresh transfer as my levels are too high (thanks a lot, stupid body). I have about 17 good size follicles, so fingers crossed there are some mature eggs. How are you doing?

@starkid fingers crossed for you! Full fat dairy helped me with lining. Strawberry milkshakes, mmm! And also exercise.

starkid · 17/05/2021 14:55

Thanks @MotherOfShihTzus :)

Just realised it missed the beginning of my message above, oops! Meant to write they've said the fluid shown on the scan is most likely from inside pockets from abdominal scarring from my previous colitis surgeries, as opposed to fluid in my tubes - so that's good. Not sure if that fluid will disappear on its on sometime but guess that's something to worry about another time.

I've been drinking pomegranate juice, doing yoga moves for blood flow down there, and bought pineapple chunks and salty halloumi for after the transfer... makes me feel better to feel like I'm trying something anyway haha!

MotherOfShihTzus · 17/05/2021 14:29

Good luck for tomorrow @starkid !

Are you nearing starting now @KatBeCool and @orangeloo ?

starkid · 14/05/2021 11:10

bag from Ulcerative Colitis). As it wasn't on a scan only a week before, and with her investigating it's placement in me closer So that's good, all go for next Tuesday! ☺️

They did say if this cycle fails they can do an x-ray to double check but if they did that this time I'd have to cancel, so I'm going ahead with the transfer. Knew there had to be some drama caused by my surgeries eventually! 🙄
