Conceiving a baby girl on the day of ovulation?

How many of you have conceived a baby girl on the day of ovulation? I know it's a silly question but I just recently found out about the Shettles method and according to this theory it'd be more likely to conceive a boy on the day of ovulation. I know it's very controversial, but I just find it interesting. I'm currently pregnant and pretty sure I conceived on the exact day of ovulation so I'm curious. It'd be interesting to hear how many of you had baby girls if you conceived on the day of ovulation.

I’ve heard of the shettles theory and although it’s been debunked I know that it’s worked for literally over half a dozen of my friends in all their pregnancies.
Apparently boy sperm swim fast and get their fast but die off quickly. Girl sperm swim slowly but have greater stamina and live longer. The egg only lasts for 12-24 hours after ovulation. So my friends who wanted girls all had sex a few days before ovulation and boys in the 12 hrs before ovulation. Ovulation can of course be delayed... and then there’s the friend who had girl/boy twins ? Maybe one of those eggs came out later? 🤔
I know many who swear by this theory. I also know one woman who could only carry girls and she miscarried whenever she was carrying a boy.

@shelbyrae, @Juno231 and @ivfbeenbusy - are you all using the word "conceive" to mean "had sex"?

ivfbeenbusy · 23/11/2020 11:17

I used the Chinese moon chart instead and it was correct for me (girl) also pretty sure we didn't conceive day of ovulation it was a couple of days before

How do you know when the moment of conception is, though? The egg is released from the follicle and makes its way down the Fallopian tube into the uterus. This can take anything from 1-5 days. The sperm can meet the egg and fertilise it at any point during this journey. It's the sperm cell that determines the sex of the baby.

Sounds like a load of claptrap to me . . . Grin

I personally don't believe in Shettles but my old boss used it for both pregnancies (some of her friends did also) and it worked for her both times.

Another lady in the office conceived 4-5 days before ovulation both times and had girls, so maybe there's a grain of truth in it :)

I conceived night before and day of O and had a boy

Obviously a healthy child is the most important thing but for some reason I've always seen myself having a daughter so I guess if I had to choose which one I prefer it'd be a girl. But I also don't take this theory too seriously, I'm just curious.

I have 2 boys and pretty sure both conceived on ovulation day. Are you hoping for a baby girl?
I don’t know how much evidence there actually is to support the theory (and I think it’s quite an old theory) so I’m not sure how seriously I’d take it.

I conceived on day of ovulation and had a boy.
