@melissa112 welcome:) I think the advice is to have a healthy bmi!l however me personally my bmi is just 30 now (currently dieting whilst ttc). I have been taking a regular dose of folic acid and assume if I need a higher one they will tell me once I’ve conceived :) this is our 5th cycle so me personally I’m glad we started whilst I’m losing weight as it has made me more focused to do so and also it has shown me it doesn’t always happen straight away anyway :) I think in an ideal scenario perfect would be to do it first but I know a lot of people in here have been trying to reduce the bmi whilst ttc rightly or wrongly :)

@CookieMonster3001bless you sounds like you are where I was with the pineapple haha! Hope you are feeling less crampy etc soon :) 4dpo eek exciting! How do you feel? 9dpo for me today no noticeable symptoms at all. I also feel like af is on her way I’m going to test tomorrow but am not thinking it will be positive:) I’m okay though gives me 3 weeks until my next ovulation to hammer the weight loss again :) I’ve had no cm at all even though I check everytime I pee haha! Xx

Potterurotter · 18/01/2021 13:53

Hi @CookieMonster3001 I am good thanks, is this your first time ttc? I will get some vitamin d Thankyou Smile hoping for a period soon so I can have a baseline for knowing about my ovulation, it’s been years since I had one as was on the implant. I got the strips yesterday which was negative as to be expected but wanted to give it a go anyways! Also getting the fertility lubricant thing delivered today that has really good reviews so fingers crossed!

CookieMonster3001 · 18/01/2021 12:19

Morning ladies, hope you are all well and had a good weekend.

4DPO here. No symptoms, which is to be expected because I wouldnt even be pregnant yet! I have had some cramping since ovulation and today I have been getting some jabbing pains in my boobs but thats about it. BBT temps seem to be on the low side. Normally it would have shot up to 36.6/36.7 by now but its lingering around at 36.5. Still eating my pineapple even though its going brown but I don't want to chuck it lol, only got one more day of it left!

@sunflowersaremyfav93 thank you my lovely! I am already counting down the days until I can test, but really gonna try and hold off for as long as possible. I am feeling really nervous in this TWW. Scared I am going to get a negative, but also scared I am going to get a positive. 2 weeks! Gosh that has come round quick!! Fingers crossed for you!!

@mackjm20 how are you getting on? I wouldnt worry too much about the fluctuations in your chart, mine tend to go up and down all the time, I dont think you will be able to detect a pattern that shows a BFN or a BFP until it comes close to AF and your BBT either stays the same or goes up (mine did when got BFP) or it plummets (when you get a BFN and AF is on its way). Not too sure about the OPKs though as I have always stopped after ovulation! The month I fell, I also wasnt sure if I did have implantation bleeding or not, but at 9DPO I got creamy CM which was really yellowy coloured, and I think this might have been implantation. 2 days after I got my BFP. I think I have come down with a bit of a cold as well, cant stop sneezing and feel generally meh! How long do you have now before you test?

@potterurotter how are you getting on? I also took folic acid as soon as I stopped the pill (about a year and a half ago) and I have also started taking vit D tablets.

@clouless glad you are doing well, hope the tummy pains ease off!

@melissa112 Welcome to the group!! I dont have any specific advice for your situation I am afraid, however I think if it was me, I would start TTC straight away as you never really know how long it will take, alongside actively trying to lose some weight. There are quite a few people in this group who are trying to lose some lbs while also trying to concieve. I am one of them!! In regards to the folic acid, I am not too sure, but it might be worth taking the higher dose if you feel it will help? Hopefully it cant do any harm.

melissa112 · 18/01/2021 08:30

Good morning everyone. Im new to this group. Read through the thread and you all seem so lovely and knowledgeable!

I have an almost 2 year old and we are ready to start trying for number 2. I am currently CD2 and my cycle varies between 25-28days normally. We really want to TTC this month but I've just weighed myself and my BMI is 30.2

I was lucky that first time around with my son we weren't actively trying but weren't avoiding either and it happened quite quickly but I'm nearly 34 and my BMI is much higher than it was first time round. Im not expecting it to be a quick process.

However my question is whether I should try and wait and lose some weight or go for it anyway and try to lose whatever weight I can before it happens? We'd really love 2 close in age. If I got pregnant this month, would that be bad with my weight? I read that with a BMI over 30 you should take higher dose of folic acid available on prescription. I've been taking pregnacare conception tablets for the past few weeks so I've been getting folic acid, just not the higher dose.

Do any of you ladies have advice please?

mackjm20 · 17/01/2021 21:10

@sunflowersaremyfav93 me either until this morning when I was Googling and basically it said that if you don’t ovulate when you are supposed to sometimes the body tries again? My lh was only high this morning though no second peak so hopefully it was just a fluke. Thank you :) just want Tuesday over and done with now lol :) ah that’s so exciting fingers crossed! so many houses are selling so quickly at the moment so will keep all crossed for you :) xx

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 17/01/2021 20:06

Congrats @Clouless!!

@mackjm20 Ooh I didn't know secondary ovulation was a thing?! I'm excited for you!! Not long till you test either. It's hard when it's all you think about isn't it!

2 weeks to go for us! On top of this we're putting our house on the market this week, praying it sells quickly. I've seen a beautiful new build and have got my heart set on it. Shouldn't but I have.

@Clouless definitely fingers crossed :) hopefully they come back to you and everything settles :)

Update from my end my lh has settled no more high readings for the rest of the day. I have randomly come down with a horrid cold from about lunch time so maybe that had something to do with it who knows but I feel rotten lol! Roll on tues so my mind can focus on something other than ttc until feb haha x

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I'm glad your friend is ok. How are you?
@Clouless that’s great news about the clear blue BFP congratulations! So sorry to hear you are feeling so stressed and haven’t been feeling well. I can only imagine how stressful any pain must be. Have you called a doctor at all? Bless you hopefully that will offer a distraction. Sending so much positivity your way and hoping everything stays okay! All good my end just waiting for 10dpo on tues so I can test and know either way the wait breaks me lol xx
Thank you! I'm hoping the pain is due to something a bit pathetic like bloating! I messaged the GP yesterday basically saying, 'Hello, I'm pregnant, what do I do?!" So just waiting for a message back later this week. Everything crossed for you on Tuesday. At least the wait is nearly over xx

@mackjm20
Hello. Thanks for thinking of me! I'm ok I think but all kinds of stressed. I think I preferred not knowing! I got 2-3 weeks on a ClearBlue yesterday morning which was good but I keep having a really sore stomach
This morning I was actually woken up by pain in my lower abdomen so naturally I keep thinking the worse 😬. No blood though but I'm a nervous wreck everytime I go to the toilet! Haha. Glad I'll be back kn work tomorrow tbh. How are you, lovely? Xx

mackjm20 · 17/01/2021 11:33

@wrensandrobins defo :) I just told dh and he said we can dtd today as a back up just incase lol! Atleast then I know I tried but have just checked and it’s back down to low so maybe was just a fluke test xx

wrensandrobins · 17/01/2021 11:15

Just remember that you can have an LH rise without ovulating- it just means your body is trying to ovulate. Only a temp rise can confirm ovulation

Sometimes all these weird dips and peaks mean more when you have the whole month or two as a picture!

mackjm20 · 17/01/2021 10:56

@wrensandrobins thank you :) not got my hopes up don’t worry but interesting to know. Thanks so much! Honestly just glad I’ve tested and next cycle will do the same as if I always get two rises I’ll know not to panic :) currently thinking if it’s higher at 12 I’m going to have to start DTD again also that would mean my luteal phase is super short so anything that doesn’t mean that is a win :) hopefully was just a fluke test lol. How are you feeling:) xx

wrensandrobins · 17/01/2021 10:41

www.verywellfamily.com/all-about-ovulation-predictor-kits-1960227

Right at the bottom it talks about it- early pregnancy

wrensandrobins · 17/01/2021 10:38

I have heard that LH strips can show positive If you are pregnant but i don't know how accurate that is- don't want to get your hopes up

mackjm20 · 17/01/2021 10:33

@wrensandrobins morning how are you getting on?

Okay that’s good to know :) yea this is the first one tracking. I am just totally baffled at my high opk 8dpo lol! Going to test again at 12 and if it shows a peak I guess maybe it’s secondary ovulation. Lord all so confusing lol! Xx

wrensandrobins · 17/01/2021 09:47

Never had an implantation bleed either!

Definitely pregnant 🤣

wrensandrobins · 17/01/2021 09:46

@mackjm20 I always had a dip every month, below the cover line even if I wasn't pregnant! I found it easier if I compared cycles is this your first one tracking?

Also in the cycle I found out I was pregnant I had no triphasic pattern, and my temps were above the cover line but only just so o though I was out and I wasn't!

mackjm20 · 17/01/2021 07:04

Just to add I have absolutely no symptoms of ‘secondary ovulation’ which I have just learnt is a thing as I have no EWCM at all! And I know as I have been looking like a crazy person for any sign of an implantation bleed lol! I swear this cycle has turned me crazy lol! X

mackjm20 · 17/01/2021 06:42

Morning all :) hope everyone is okay :)

so today’s question time haha! Help please!

So my temp and heart rate attached. Huge drops below cover line 6dpo but have been above cover line since then albeit up and down not a triphastic pattern so app is saying no implantation dip detected. Not really sure what to make of the data? If anyone had anything similar for even a bfn would be great to know so I can understand a little more about interpretation :) and what they had for bfp so again I know roughly what to look for please :)

In the meantime I have continued opks each day (even though app supposedly detected ovulation on the 9th- little flower on chart) as I wanted to get an idea of what my full month looks like before next cycle. So imagine my surprise 8dpo when my opk is back at high 24% (reminder when I got my surge on the 7th it started at 21% went up to 111% at 12pm) I am now completely baffled? Going to take a second one at lunch but so confused- I’ve googled as I thought maybe everyone’s is high again before af so Atleast I know but google seems to suggest it should only be high before ovulation- any help would be great please as I am totally completely lost .

Probably worth adding at 8 dpo I have no symptoms of note- I thought for a minute I had sore boobs but when I pressed where they hurt it turned out to be a muscle ache probs where I started couch to 5k Friday lol xx

mackjm20 · 16/01/2021 21:19

@Clouless how are you doing? Xx

mackjm20 · 16/01/2021 21:19

@Potterurotter you aren’t at all honestly there is so much to take in :)

For me I have focused my attentions on:

 • folic acid and vitamin d
 • quite a lot of people have mentioned wearing thick socks and eating pineapple in the tww
 • started opks this month using femometer to track
 • also started bbt this month using femometer to track (temping)
*hoping that temping and opks will show me whether I am actually ovulating and getting my timings right*
 • also working on getting bmi as healthy as poss as I know a lot of people have mentioned that helps
 • someone mentioned pre-seed lube aswell

The good thing is that everyone on here is so great at helping I’m just winging it as I go along with my first cycle tracking but people on here are amazing :) someone will always know the answers. We have also had Atleast one positive test per month in the group which is amazing :) xx
