@NI101 I am sorry for your losses, you've really been through it. Take comfort in that you are clearly fertile, and the CP was likely a chromosomal abnormality so in the hardest way it's for the best. Can you take a break for a few weeks to let your body recover and everything settle down, maybe stop testing until you are ready to start TTC again? It's coming up to Christmas so it might be a nice time for a break being able to eat lots of naughty food and some drinks.

smarty4 · 02/12/2020 19:35

Welcome @NI101 and so sorry for everything that has happened / you have gone through so far. It really is a emotional
Roller coaster but always feel free to talk here.

How many weeks are you now after your miscarriage? I only ask as my EPAU wanted to see me if I was still testing positive after mine (after two weeks from 25th nov. In terms of my time scales mine happened at 10 weeks when I found out on 16 Nov and baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks, i started to naturally miscarry on 18 Nov. EPAU monitored my HCG level and were satisfied it was dropping but wanted to see me again if I was still testing positive on 8 Dec. If do they wanted to see me again for medical management or surgical.
It may be worth ringing your EPAU for updated bloods for you hcg level and to check all is ok.

elsimo · 02/12/2020 19:30

On the subject of ovulation tests......the month I conceived the twins I just miscarried was the only month I couldn't actually get a positive ovulation result with clear blue digital.....how ironic is that!!

NI101 · 02/12/2020 19:16

Thank you @MRJ86. It's been a tough an emotional journey and I'm sure we are all going through our individual battles whether its TTC, m/c pregnancy, and even postpartum. I will certainly keep an eye on the hormone results and if it's meant to be, it will be.

I complete agree @susiebluebell. I myself had no idea of the challenges people face when TTC. Going through it myself has made me more aware and I hope that the issues surround this can be spoken of more freely to educate others not to make careless comments. You never know what the other person is going through.

Thank you both for making me feel welcome xx

susiebluebell · 02/12/2020 19:03

@NI101 Welcome and thank you so much for sharing your journey thus far! My heart goes out to you. I've had one mc and found it a real solace to know just how common miscarriages and chemicals are. No it's not fair, and it's really heartbreaking and frustrating, but... It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with either of you. In fact it's opened my eyes to be more sympathetic towards women and never make baby comments! Can't believe I used to tease people about having babies!

There are wonderful people here so you're in good company xxx

MRJ86 · 02/12/2020 19:02

@NI101 so sorry for your losses.

I'll let the ladies on this group offer you advice but I just wanted to say that the OPK kits will also likely be picking up your pregnancy hormones - so there's every chance you haven't ovulated yet. I was showing 'fertile' whilst I went through the last few days of my miscarriage. Then a week of nothing and then I was showing fertile (and got pregnant). Just a little tip!

I hope your TTC journey doesn't take you too long. Xxxxxxxx

NI101 · 02/12/2020 18:51

Hi all - I've stumbled upon various threads on TTC after m/c and I thought it's time I join a network of people who have had similar (unfortunate) experiences.

In July I found out that I was pregnant. We had been TTC only a short while and could not believe how quickly it happened for us. We felt truly blessed. At 5 weeks, I started bleeding like a normal period. I went to the hospital and they took bloods/urine test both of which returned negative. The doc explained it was a chemical pregnancy where the HCg hormone rises to show a positive result, only to decline very quickly resulting in a loss. I was told this happens quite often and most women don't even realise they were pregnant as they think their period was just late by a week or so.

We were so disappointed, but took some solace in knowing that we were able to conceive. We have since been TTC and had no luck until October...

I had a positive pregnancy test in October to my delight and all seemed normal. I went for my 8week midwife appt where the pregnancy was registered and bloods were taken. Again results came back normal.
and 9.5 weeks I noticed some spotting and made an appointment with the GP who sent me to the EPU at my local hospital the very next day. At the hospital and internal scan was taken where I was informed there was no heartbeat and that the measurements showed growth had stopped at 7 weeks.

My OH and I were absolutely distraught. The docs talked through our options and we took a few days to decide that medical management was best for us in order to move forward. It was heart wrenching and took us on an emotional rollercoaster which I'm still on.

My bleeding has since stopped and we would like to TTC again, but it is taking forever for my hormones to return back to normal. I've taken an ovulation test which suggests I'm currently at the peak of my fertility. I've also taken a pregnancy test which shows I'm pregnant. I know I'm not pregnant, and that this is the remaining hormones from the m/c.

It's really confusing and I just wish I could move on. It doesn't look like this will be the case until I have completed a full cycle which might take me until Jan at the very earliest. It just seems so cruel seeing that positive result knowing there is nothing really there.

It's the first time I'm talking about my experience to a group of people as I tend to keep things bottled up inside.

Sending you all lots of love and wishes in your journey.

smarty4 · 02/12/2020 18:29

@Mustkeepgoing2 that must be hard and no doubt reflected by your user name but here is a safe space.

@MSG92 hope today went well, fingers crossed for you.

@susiebluebell that must be so frustrating. Back in April I had a cycle that lasted 42 ish days when I'm usually 26 days. It's horrid not knowing especially when you are trying but in the end my period did arrive just very late.

I've always used frer and not had an issue. In fact when I had that long cycle I used a cheapy Asda (blue dye) which showed a faint positive but in hind sight could have been an evap then ordered a frer which was negative. I still don't know what was going on to this day but since my cycle has been regular.

susiebluebell · 02/12/2020 13:11

I picked up some more tests today and did one even though we'd agreed to wait till the weekend. It was negative and I was so disappointed I just chucked it in the bin. I really am at my wits' end - never thought I'd be begging for a period but here I am.

Made all the more bittersweet by a close friend having her baby prematurely. They are both OK but a small selfish part of me just would give anything for it to be me.

susiebluebell · 02/12/2020 13:03

@Mustkeepgoing2 Welcome and I'm so sorry to read about what you've been going through. That would be a lot to process for anyone xx Go easy on yourself x

@MSG92 Best of luck today! Looking forward to reading about how it goes!

MSG92 · 02/12/2020 12:32

@MoMof4xx thanks, that's a lovely pic!! I'm just nervous about internal as some people have said it caused MC, even though nhs strongly disagree this would be the case.

@Furbsies let's hope my sonographer is as good and asks if I want internal if they can't see anything.

I'm very nervous as I've not even worn my sickness bands today as I don't feel nauseas... Hope my bean is OK. I have to travel 1hr30 to get to the place so it has to be worth it.

@Mustkeepgoing2 I used FR both times, 1st was a CP and it picked it up, faint but definitely there, 2nd one I didn't realise I took a normal FR mot FRER and it was so strong, I then took 2 FRER and they were very strong. I've never done any other tests but I've been happy with mine. Maybe take note of what the test window looks like before you test, definitely use FMU if testing early, and definitely check in the alloted time then disregard after that.

familybythesea · 02/12/2020 12:31

@Mustkeepgoing2 I’m really sorry for your losses. That must have been extra hard in such a short period of time. I can’t say I’ve had any problems with the FRERs - they’ve always been accurate for me.

MoMof4xx · 02/12/2020 12:27

@MSG92
That was mine x

MoMof4xx · 02/12/2020 12:24

@Mustkeepgoing2 sorry for your losses.
They say that pink dye tests are better than blue dye tests. Check the window within the advised time and you should be fine x

MoMof4xx · 02/12/2020 12:22

@MSG92 I had an abdominal scan on Sunday at 7weeks1day and it showed the little bean and heartbeat clearly. I did wonder too as they say it won't show much but its worth it x

Mustkeepgoing2 · 02/12/2020 10:43

Hi Ladies

I hope you are all well.

I have been watching in the wings a bit.

I suffered an ectopic at 10-12 weeks in June, had a chemical in July and then lost a little boy, who had a chromosomal abnormality at 10 weeks in October. It has been quite a year of highs and horrid horrid lows.

We are back TTC and I am 7DPO.

I am looking for some advice really on pregnancy tests. What are you me views on the FRER tests. Are the worth it. I worry about the evap lines I have heard of.

Thank you in advance xxxx

Furbsies · 02/12/2020 10:41

@susiebluebell thank you for replying still

@familybythesea I've been taking myo inositol for past 3 months and they say it takes 3 months to work. But apparently people with pcos might not absorb myo inositol well. So inofolic is the next thing with some additional stuff in it to help with myo inositol absorption. I know someone on this thread mentioned it. So I will be moving on to that.

And in terms of clomid. Been told I must first try to lose weight, then into metformin, then once its been a year it will be clomid. So have to wait a while for that one

Furbsies · 02/12/2020 10:37

@msg92 hey thanks for messaging. Yes I have a plan which is something that I am happy about.

Also in terms of scan. I almost never get given internal scan and I've had mroe than a handful scans just this year. But if the sonographer / clinician can't see anything they have always asked me on the day if I'd be happy to have one internally (even through tail end of my period). So you do have that option usually. The only one that didn't ask was going to send me away asking for repeat internal and I just suggested they do it there and then. And she was happy to do it.

MSG92 · 02/12/2020 10:28

Morning everyone, @Furbsies and @familybythesea sorry I am no use with medical questions.

I don't temp, but doesn't it stay high if your pregnant? If you are only between 9and13dpo isn't it quite early to expect a BFP? Could just be one of those months where AF plays tricks. Very annoying.

I'm glad you got to see a gynaecologist @Furbsies and at least you have a kind of plan going forward. Fingers crossed for you.

I booked myself a scan for Saturday!! Took the plunge and did it. My concern is that they recommend an internal scan at under 10 weeks, for more accurate results, you can have abdominal but what if I don't see anything because I opted for abdominal? What a waste that would be. But I've read in a few places that internal is a risk, even though they obviously say there isn't, and nhs advises it at this stage, but I'd hate to risk anything happening. Anyone been offered internal but went with abdominal or anyone done abdominal? I'll be 7 weeks 6 days.

familybythesea · 02/12/2020 10:27

@susiebluebell thank you - I hope you’re doing ok.

@Furbsies I don’t know much about pcos but I thought Clomid was something they often prescribe? And supposedly myo-inositol helps some people? I’m sure someone will be along with much better info soon!

susiebluebell · 02/12/2020 09:43

Morning ladies @Furbsies @familybythesea I'm afraid I can't be of much help medically but I'm sorry you're both in a confusing/frustrating stage! Xx

familybythesea · 02/12/2020 09:37

Hello! I’ve lost track on the thread a little but I’m another one worrying about egg quality (I’m 38). Taking CoQ10 too...fingers crossed it is actually doing something!

Do many of you ladies temp? Ive had 4 days of light bleed (more than spotting but not loads) that started on 9dpo (in fairness I normally start 10DPO so this isn’t hugely unusual) but my temp hasn’t dropped yet. I know I’m not pregnant (obv have done 100,000,000 tests ‘just in case’). I was reading on google all sorts of things and have freaked myself out again. Has anyone experienced this? It’s yet another thing to worry about in the list of never ending worries. And it doesn’t help that then I worry about worrying, because - as we all know - we are meant to JUST RELAX and it will happen, right? (Rolling eyes)

Furbsies · 02/12/2020 09:24

Hey all thought I'd update everyone on here. Had my appt with my gynaecologist. Essentially been discharged because there was no polyp (yayyyy) but been told I have pcos and must lose weight, my BMI is 29.2. And can ask gp for metformin... I had heard that no one really helps with pcos. But I'm just really saddened to see that that is pretty much it. The clinician seeing me spent so much time and tried so hard so I think it is what the NHS guidelines are for pcos.. So anyone else got anything. And is metformin really the answer.

elsimo · 01/12/2020 21:27

@Bellabubble Yeah I have tried that too.
I went to see a private fertility specialist in August time and I asked her about supplements, she said that the best antioxidant you can take is folic acid.
My bmi is 30 so I got extra folic acid while pregnant so i'm taking that and my prenatal vitamin.
Well look positive, u wouldn't have had any alcohol etc so thats good for the eggs lol.
All it takes is 1 good egg 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Bellabubble · 01/12/2020 21:21

@elsimo I’m thinking mine might be egg quality too. I watched a video that said eggs take 90days to mature - which means my next egg that ovulates was maturing whilst I was pregnant - so I can’t imagine it’s going to be bringing it’s A game! I have started taking CoQ10 again so even if this next cycle doesn’t work - hopefully it will help with the next few eggs 🤞🏻
