Good luck @oilyoilyoilgob! We'll do ours later today. Did another round of opks this morning /earlier today, and they both show 0, so methinks the 80% one the other day was a fluke, and that my peak may be later in the month. Contemplating maybe buying a thermometer for next month if it doesn't happen this month... Its one more thing to get hung up on, but may also be useful to show docs if we need to speak to someone in the new year... X

Oilyoilyoilgob · 21/11/2020 08:27

@Lori23TTC it was lovely, I deliberately over ordered so I have some left today 🐷 ha! Went upstairs with lady 2 and fell asleep on the floor with her as husband was tired and wanted to watch something I didn’t. It was very relaxing!

OMG rotisserie chicken, this is amazing! I’m cackling thinking of it 😂

Welcome @crocheted I think you’ll like it here ☺️ How amazing you’ve started trying and the very best of luck to you! From reading on here and online it seems every other day during your fertile period is good so it’s great you’re not getting too focussed on timings. Good luck 🍀

I’m just about to do another insemination, there’ll be no rotisserie chickening from me I’m going to play Among Us 🤭😅

@Birchybirch I just realised I replied but hadn’t read the last page 🤣 what you wrote made me laugh.. rotisserie chicken 🤣🤣

@Oilyoilyoilgob not nice for your poor cat to have a slipped disc I hope she’s ok 🥰 sounds like you had a lovely evening tho! Xx

Lori23TTC · 20/11/2020 22:09

@primrosechill that really made me giggle about the partners 🤣 I often get my hubby to hold my legs up too haha I tend to just lie with my legs up and don’t really move.. sometimes I roll side to side with my legs hugged into my chest - actually feels quite nice on my back. Then after 30 mins or so I have a wee and go to bed, I do sleep on my side tho. The sperm are meant to swim through the hole in the cervix right? It’s so hard to know if you have inseminated in the right place, I just put it in not in any particular direction as I can never find my cervix anyway 🤣 x

MrsKin90 · 20/11/2020 20:35

@Oilyoilyoilgob bless you, sounds like a lovely takeaway and peaceful evening is very much deserved ❤️

@crocheted welcome 😊 I hope this method works for you and you feel comfortable here! Goodluck!!

@Birchybirch that's a bit next level 😂🤸

primrosechill · 20/11/2020 19:05

Big fat LOL at all of these stories - we're all supposedly intelligent, mature women - it's amazing what gymnastics we get into to help on our TTC journey 😂

@crocheted welcome! glad that you've taken the leap to turn from a lurker to a contributor - this is a really lovely thread so hoping you'll find the support you need here xx

Birchybirch · 20/11/2020 18:59

I'm glad it's not just me who "works out" after SI. I have done just hips raised in like a glue bridge, but this month I've been rocking too, and dipping one hip, then the other. I've also decided to do a plank type thing, so legs on the bed, shoulders on the floor, and try and rotate like some kind of rotisserie chicken - it's a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, when I randomly decided to do it the other day! 😂

crocheted · 20/11/2020 18:44

Hi everyone, I've been lurking this thread for the past few days so thought I would join in. Hope that's okay and you'll have me! Blush

TTC via SI as DTD is very painful for me and if we relied on the rare times I feel up to it chances of having a baby would be very low! So helping nature take its course via a pot and syringe.

I'm not very precisely tracking my ovulation atm because while I know good timing would increase our chances I have OCD and it seems like something I'd easily become obsessive and distressed over, so for the moment we're just trying when I'm in my "fertile window" based off my period tracking app, and I'll reconsider more precise timing if no luck in a year or so... just finishing our first cycle, so VERY early days yet!

Good luck to all of you and stay safe x

Oilyoilyoilgob · 20/11/2020 18:01

@Birchybirch so good you did SI in case of early ovulation-fingers crossed!

I just did opk and it’s changed lasts nights at 88 to peak and today’s at 75 to low. I haven’t been good with these really so maybe it’s as confused as I am 😂 anyway we’ve been doing lots of SI so hopefully all bases covered.

@MrsKin90 and @primrosechill I’m laughing at your SI antics! I do pelvic floors when I’m bored laying there but that’s it. Debating doing some kind of inner thigh squeezes or something now I’ve heard of your gymnastics. I’m a lazy syringer 😅

We are getting takeaway tonight and having a nice relaxed night. The vets gave us pain relief for lady 2 who now has a confirmed slipped disc in her lower back 😞 had a nightmare day yesterday as they are too strong so I’m going to give her her food and meds in her isolation room and have a nice relaxed couple of hours with husband. Now lady 1 has her cone off she’s not bothered about me 😏 xx

MrsKin90 · 20/11/2020 17:16

@primrosechill 😂😂 properly made me LOL.
I have a rule that I won't test early unless I have some sort of sign (like someone asking me if I'm pregnant 😆 or dreaming about a bfp). Which sounds even nuttier now 😳 so AF isn't due until Wednesday!! 🤦 Basically forever away. If I start spotting at 12dpo (Sunday) I'll know I'm out and won't need to waste a test or any excitement.

primrosechill · 20/11/2020 17:04

Partner, not partnerS hahaha - just confirming there's still only two of us involved in the process for now.

primrosechill · 20/11/2020 17:03

@MrsKin90 we're all a bit bonkers sometimes, let's be honest - I often ask my partners to stand up when I'm lying down after SI, grab my legs and pull them upwards a few times to shake the swimmers down 😂

Are you going to be good and resist any pregnancy tests until your AF is due? i know you are normally very good with these, unlike most of us on here LOL

MrsKin90 · 20/11/2020 16:57

I try to orgasm after SI but if I ever can't be bothered.. I do pelvic floor exercises and rock from side to side 😂 in the hopes it does a similar thing/jostles them about a bit! Ahh it's nice to share some crazy.
How funny that all of your OPKs are going a bit wild! Fingers crossed everyone catches the egg!
Do people's partners know that they do that to help if along?? I don't think it's ever occured to my hubby as I shoo him off and demand a cup of coffee is made 😂 I'm delightful.

10dpo for me today! I've been torturing myself watching one born every minute and "babies" on Netflix. I sneezed all day yesterday and thought 'oh colds can be a sign/why do I always get so stuffy in my tww' but then woke up with sore throat and cough and feeling like death, and had to get a covid test done with work to rule that out 😷 awaiting results but I'm sure it's neither pregnancy or covid and is in fact the same sort of could I get every cycle 🙄 life is so fun.
Hope everyone else is having a lovely Friday!

Birchybirch · 20/11/2020 14:03

After today's CB showed nothing ning, I've done a cheapie opk test at my usual time...aaaand it's showed 0 today too. So, either I've peaked very early (thank goodness we did SI last night!) or, the "peak" one was faulty. Let's see what the rest of the month brings... X

Oilyoilyoilgob · 20/11/2020 13:51

@Lori23TTC I think it helps as during female orgasm the cervix lowers and ‘dips’ so helping the sperm on the first part of its journey! Good idea on the vibrator for quickness!

Aww I would LOVE that! Then we can all have a big meet up with out babies 🥰 I’m daydreaming again 😄 that’d be really awesome.
I’m so heartened by the good news recently on this thread, I have my positive pants on today for us all 🍀🍀🍀

OP posts:
Lori23TTC · 20/11/2020 13:03

@primrosechill I always make sure I do after but I’m not sure how helpful it is to the sperm to get to where they need. I really struggled to do it when your on like day 5 of SI so I use a mini vibrator now and it’s a game changer! Quick and I don’t get any leakage, I always do it after I’ve put the sperm in not during.

@Oilyoilyoilgob thank you I hope you have a lovely weekend too! I wish we could all get pregnant on the same month how amazing big would that be! X

Oilyoilyoilgob · 20/11/2020 10:57

@Birchybirch ouch for your husband 🙁 I know what you mean about one prob solved. Part of our therapy was our sex life took a dive 2/3 years ago due to a huge amount of life stress for us both with lots of big things going on. We both almost became scared of intimacy and was not in a good place.
Our therapist is amazing, he’s saved our marriage and we have online sessions which are great.
Husband also had lower testosterone so has an rx for that and got a private rx for cialis, a very low dose and half a tablet which gives almost a psychological effect on his Ed. It’s most certainly working well.
Just unfortunately I’ve struggled during lockdowns with having to close, poorly pets and thinking/hoping I’d be pregnant over lockdown 🙁
That’s made me back away from intimacy or feel like it comes last on the list but we are getting back on track.

Part of our therapy is couples time, just making some time for each other in a relaxed environment and introducing touch, massage etc and it really does work wonders. Thank goodness for SI as I feel due to stress and tiredness a lot of couples must go through this. The pressure of ttc can be huge mixed in with daydreams of getting pregnant.

Good luck with your sticks! I haven’t even opened our cb digital opk. I’ve been using the easy@home sticks with the pre mom app and I also use the period tracker app to log notes etc as I find that easier to use. Pre mom is great for the stick pics though.
I hope you get a good reading 🤞🏻 Xx

Birchybirch · 20/11/2020 10:09

@primrosechill I do try to every time, but sometimes I worry that the stress/pressure of getting there sometimes doesn't do my chances any good.

@oilyoilyoilgob sorry to hear about the mc! Yeah my husband sort of suffers from Ed too. Basically dtd hurt him in the distant past, thanks to his foreskin being tight, so he almost became scared of it. A visit to the docs rulled out the need for any medical intervention, so we were attending regular therapy sessions to help with his mental block. We were doing OK with them, but then covid hit, and they were cancelled. We were making progress, but now we SI, he's usually to worn out to dtd "normally". Feels like we constantly solve one issue, only to be faced with another!

Used the cheapie opks and recoded a low high yesterday, so this morning I cracked open the CB digital one, which has recorded nothing. Testing with the cheapie again in a couple of hours, so will see what they show...

Oilyoilyoilgob · 20/11/2020 09:46

@Lori23TTC and @primrosechill yes a silver lining to shutting again is I’ve been with my cats during their illnesses thank god and I can ttc in the mornings. We get up 5.30-6am normally so it really suits as I can have 30mins ish while husband showers etc then I can get up and make his brekkie and wave him off.
I miss not working, my clients are lovely and it’ll be 6 months of being shut this year. Added to my feeling of being flat really but hey ho I’m lucky in lots of ways, as I like I say I could nurse my girls so that’s the best thing ☺️

Re orgasms I have done twice only this last week. Zero sex drive the last four weeks, only had one couples time session with husband other than that I’ve been feeling stressed and sex just hasn’t entered my head at all-nothing about it! I orgasmed this morning but it felt like an effort.
I think especially in women, it’s a protective thing if we have other things going on. So thank god for SI really!

When I was working I did SI on the nights around 8.30-9pm so we could have dinner and a bit of catch up time, then I did around 30mins upstairs of SI time. It is harder when working as it feels like there’s so much to cram in, although I liked the luxury of those 30mins it does take time away from your evening.

I hope you have a lovely day off Lori and enjoy a gorgeous autumn walk-my face time of year with the colours on the trees and crunchy leaves!
Primrose try and have a lovely relaxing weekend, even if you don’t orgasm try to make the SI time as relaxing as possible xx

primrosechill · 20/11/2020 09:22

@Oilyoilyoilgob yeah that's why we decided to opt for every other day this cycle - I think we kept making the same mistake previously which is starting early and doing it every day so that when it got to day 5 of inseminating (so actual ovulation), my husband was completely spent and there was very little left in him! Haha.

I'm with @Lori23TTC and wish we could do this in the mornings instead but sadly work comes in the way - at least we get the weekend this time!

Quick q: Do you ladies always orgasm when inseminating? (sorry if TMI although pretty sure there's no such thing on mumsnet lol) I have to say this cycle I find my sex drive quite low - not sure if it's the season, the fact that I'm tired in the evenings or the subconscious stress of TTC - so I haven't been able to give myself a proper O. I'm hoping maybe on the weekend I'll be more relaxed...

Lori23TTC · 20/11/2020 08:28

@Oilyoilyoilgob hey, that really sucks you had to close your business again due to lockdown... silver lining is you can SI when you want and is hopefully less stressful as you can relax more. I love a walk... I’m going to go out for a walk today if it doesn’t rain all day! Have booked today off work do will have a chill out! My OPK isn’t as strong now but my temp hasn’t spiked so will do another SI tonight and hopefully that’s enough.

I think it’s great you do it in the morning then your evening is your own to relax... my hubby isn’t a morning person and heads out for work at 8 so no chance hun being able to do it before getting ready 🤣

Hope everyone has a good Friday! Xxx

Oilyoilyoilgob · 20/11/2020 08:27

@primrosechill thank you for the advice you’ve gathered testing them!
Did another SI this morning, I’m actually due to ovulate according to trackers in two days but did an opk last night and it’s showing a lower high of 88.

Husband said it was an effort today as we’ve done so many, there wasn’t much to measure in my syringe 😅

@Birchybirch I was the same thoughts that it’d happen straight away. I’ll keep saying it, we are almost brainwashed to believe that one slip up means you get pregnant and I honestly believe it does no favours to people trying.
This is our third proper cycle were we are really putting the effort in, I got pg with SI in sept which sadly didn’t stick but this method does work 😊 we’ve been trying since January but not in the full sense as my husband has ED, although this is getting better with our therapy, his testosterone tablets and now a tiny daily dose of cialis.

Hopefully for you and all of us soon enough we’ll have our own bfp ☺️🤞🏻
It’s exciting you’re on your cd with two others on the thread, some kinship for your eggs and sperm 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Xx

OP posts:
primrosechill · 20/11/2020 07:50

@Birchybirch it’s cycle 10 for me but we also had a pregnancy that ended up in MC along the way. Hoping going into double digits will be lucky for me this time! 🍀🤞🏼

@Oilyoilyoilgob I am an applicator convert lol. The only thing I dislike about them is that there is no indication of volume on it so can’t tell how much sperm my hubby is producing/I’m inserting. How romantic of me 🤣 not like I would see/know any of this with “normal” sex but having done his SA twice I’m now obsessed with its health lol.

Well I don’t know how about you ladies but I for one am thrilled it’s Friday - hoping it’s a less miserable one than last week so I can get some fresh air in!!

Birchybirch · 20/11/2020 00:55

Thank you @oilyoilyoilgob! 4 months ago, I naively assumed it'd only take a couple of months...! Never mind! I'm sure there's a saying about nothing worth having comes easy...or something... X

Birchybirch · 20/11/2020 00:51

Yay cycle buddies @primrosechill and @bigsweetpotato How many cycles are you both on? I'm on my 4th, so pretty new to it all.

A friend of ours is an electrician come round today. I thought he was just doing a test of our fuse box, but nope, was a whole house test. My two boxes of opks are out on my bedside table so that was a bit awkward, as we know he's seen them. Thankfully our SI "kit" was away in my drawer, otherwise it could have been a lot worse! X
