@restingwitchface86 I inserted standing up, with one foot on the bed. Haven't tried lying down, a lot of woman recommend it but it just didn't feel right for me. Maybe you can practice with some lubricant both positions and see if/when you have leakage?

restingwitchface86 · 29/11/2020 17:16

@eloiseislost Thank you! It's amazing how simple the diagrams make it look, but when you're trying to feel around up there it's a whole different story, haha! I'll try not to panic about any leakage... can I ask if you found it easier to insert lying down or standing up?

eloiseislost · 29/11/2020 17:15

@DinkBoo Did you reheat it or do you drink it cold? I'm one of those weird people that drinks beverages at any temperature! 😅
I will feel better once I've had my booking appointment and a scan to make sure that all is OK. For now, it doesn't feel 100% real.
DH wants to spend Christmas with his family but I'm apprehensive, it's not like covid will take a break! Vaccine is just around the corner, part of me just wants a safe, rather than a family Christmas… We'll see! 🎅🏻

eloiseislost · 29/11/2020 17:12

@restingwitchface86 You are very welcome!
Looking at anatomical diagrams helped me understand that the cervix is not a continuation of the vagina, but rather it sits on top of it. So that means, if you insert the cup correctly, the swimmers will have nowhere to go but through the cervix! 🤞🏼
I have to also say, every time I inserted a soft cup with swimmers in it, there was some leakage, and yet it worked just fine, so try to be relaxed, it only takes one! 😉

DinkBoo · 29/11/2020 17:10

@eloiseislost I'm just finishing the one DH made for me about 4 hours ago! Blush

Glad you're doing ok!
Hope you're able to get some decent relaxing in, in between the panickiness.

You have my sympathy on that score. Smile I keep panicking about Christmas now we are allowed to mix. I love my family, but I also kind of just want to hibernate here (away from a hot house, cooking and other smells, and a ten minute walk from the epu).

restingwitchface86 · 29/11/2020 17:07

@eloiseislost Thank you so much! That diagram definitely helps - so technically it should be impossible to trap the swimmers in the softcup and miss my cervix? I think this sounds like a great route to take then and I'm glad my donor suggested it!

eloiseislost · 29/11/2020 17:05

Hi and welcome @restingwitchface86 😃
I switched from syringes to softcups on the 3rd TTC cycle and it worked!
I think I understand your concern, but if you tuck the rim behind your pubic bone and it does not move or leak thereafter, it means it's sitting where it is supposed to.
The fact that you can't find your cervix can be down to many factors, even the length of your fingers. Your cervix sits on top of the end of the vaginal canal and the soft cup sits against it -I don't know if the attached diagram is of any help.
Best of luck! 🧚🏼‍♀️

restingwitchface86 · 29/11/2020 16:57

Hi ladies! Never posted in this thread before but I have a quick question which I'm hoping doesn't sound too silly...

I'm self inseminating with the help of a donor (no partner for me, going the single mum route before all my eggs dry up!) and it's going to be my second cycle soon. First go I used a syringe, my donor has suggested softcup for the second cycle.

Now here comes the very silly question. My donor (who is a doctor) said I should practice finding my cervix and inserting the softcup, checking to ensure it's covering my cervix. I have no idea what's going on inside my lady bits but I cannot find my cervix at all - I'm very tall (almost 6ft) and I'm wondering if perhaps my fingers just aren't long enough, but I've tried at different stages of my cycle and I just can't find it.

What I CAN do perfectly easily is insert a softcup, they're no problem for me. What I'm concerned about though, is that I'll insert the softcup and somehow miss my cervix - I'm concerned I'll kind of trap the semen from entering my cervix if I can't confirm that it's covering it. At least with a syringe I don't have to worry about inadvertently trapping the swimmers from entering my cervix in the first place!

So my question is... is this possible? If my cervix is particularly high, is it possible that the softcup will be too short and 'cut off' my cervix and trap the swimmers away from it? This feels like such a silly and embarrassing question but if I'm being honest, I don't really understand where the softcup sits inside me and I'm just paranoid of using it and doing things wrong!

Thanks so much to anyone who can help and I hope you're all having lovely relaxing Sundays! x

eloiseislost · 29/11/2020 16:53

+1 for the bedtime Yorkshire tea, I'm actually having a cuppa right now @DinkBoo 🫖

@Oilyoilyoilgob I'm OK, thank you for asking! 🙂
A bit panicky about everything these days, covid, the pregnancy, Christmas being so different, etc. Trying to take deep breaths and only worry about things I have control over… which is not much really! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oilyoilyoilgob · 29/11/2020 15:39

Awww @MrsKin90 I’m sorry your period came. Hope you’re ok? Maybe it was a spike in hormones that caused that little blip. Look after yourself and get that snuggle pad, it’d be lovely for period pains even though it’s meant for pets. I might get one for myself ☺️

Aww thanks @DinkBoo hope you’re ok. Those teas sound delicious! I will have a look out, Yorkshire tea is my absolute favourite, I love a good strong brew.

Still looking after my poorly girl, trying to not go to worst case in my head. I NEED to get to personal therapy but I keep bloody putting myself last. Need to get back on the cbt wagon.

Husband bought us a 3 course meal from a lovely local restaurant last night, I’m getting spoiled but need to keep up with the walking now to burn it off 😅🐷🐽 I told him yesterday that I absolutely needed to do nothing, just switch off and I had a day in bed in my pjs 🤭 very much needed. We went for a cracking walk today.

I hope everyone is doing ok including @eloiseislost, hope everyone safe and healthy 💚 xx

@MrsKin90 re the aspirin, that's particularly impressively non-sensical!

I'm glad you're feeling okay re AF, hopefully the arsing around this month was just your body keeping you on your toes and making sure you don't have too little to think about Cake Cake

Now I want Chinese... Thanks @Oilyoilyoilgob !

Good luck for the feline MRI. Flowers

Flowers for everyone in fact, just because Flowers

Re decaf drinks: I love Yorkshire Teas bedtime brew (with vanilla and nutmeg) in the evening and Taylors rose lemonade is amazing hot or cold, it actually tastes of the things it's supposed to and makes a really strong brew. (I make my classy posh tea in a Sports Direct mug/bucket as the bags are so strong Grin)

MrsKin90 · 29/11/2020 09:14

@Lori23TTC I've never had one but I know a few people who have! Sometimes people get pregnant after them as it clears things out? My friend had to take two days off work after as very crampy, but said the procedure itself was fine. Fingers crossed it isn't needed and you get a bfp in a few days 🤞🤞

@DinkBoo that sounds frustrating! Why are these things so difficult when those are quite common things for pregnant people to need?! I remember my friend couldn't get a prescription for the low dose asprin she'd been told she had to take by the doctor as she "could buy it OTC" but they wouldn't give it her without one... So I went and got it from the pharmacy and said it was for my dad for something he has and they gave it to me! But they asked if I was pregnant first as they couldn't give it me if I was 😂 what a joke.

@Oilyoilyoilgob I hope you're managing to have a more relaxed weekend and not worry too much. Unfortunately worrying really doesn't solve anything does it? But I know it can't be helped. Still sending lots of hugs.

After my bit of spotting on 26/11 my rhr and temperature went back up for two days ☹️ but has now come all the way down today and AF started last night so this is CD2 for me? I'm a bit concerned about how my LP went on a bit and everything went up very promisingly and then came down, but I'm not going to dwell.
I'm okay weirdly? And I didn't even cry. Very bizarre. I've ordered some vaginal applicators to see if they make a difference and will not be hoping provides an amazing distraction and i forget all about TTC/my tww which I'll hopefully be in then.

Fingers crossed for some happy news for everybody 🤞😊

Oilyoilyoilgob · 27/11/2020 21:09

Hi everyone. You’re all really lovely @DinkBoo Im so happy to hear everything is ok ☺️ I’ve been thinking of you this week, I’m so glad all is well and keep looking after yourself.

I won’t tag you all but thank you so so much for such lovely words. That felt like a collective, well needed hug and it made me cry in a good way-thank you.

My lady is still here, having an urgent referral for an mri-the place in West Yorkshire is an hour away. Then go from there on a confirmed disc pressing on nerves and/or seeing if she can have an operation. My poor girl, I keep wondering where she fell when we heard the sound in bed and feeling so guilty (irrational I know) but my poor little one 😞

Hopefully they can see us when my husband is off on Wednesday so we can drive together. I’m absolutely drained from stress and worry over the last few months/years over various things. He’s worried that due to trying there’s a chance I could be pregnant and I’m so stressed. I just can’t switch off worrying and caring 🙁

I had a nice Chinese bought for me so I’ve eaten and I’m going to bed soon.

I am very grateful for your words, big hugs to you all. I hope you all have a lovely weekend, relax and look after yourselves 💚 xx

@Oilyoilyoilgob I'm so sorry about your cat, I truly hope the vet is able to provide some relief -whether that means here on this Earth, or in a better place. You are doing the absolute best for this wee soul, never doubt that. My thoughts are with you, I know the pain. Virtual hug 🤗

Nice to read everyone's updates, still lurking here, I love how lively this thread is and a warm welcome to all the new members! 🙂

DinkBoo · 27/11/2020 15:30

Now let me tell you all of the saga of the quest to get a high dose folic acid prescription Angry Grin standing at 2 hours, which consists of 2 phone calls with a trip to the pharmacy in between.

Lori23TTC · 27/11/2020 14:43

@Oilyoilyoilgob sorry I missed a page again! Oh your poor cat 🐈‍⬛ I’m keeping my fingers crossed.. it’s the worst thing to go through the love we have for our pets is so strong 💙🐾 keep us updated sending you love x

@DinkBoo glad little bean is all good... keep rested ❤️ Xxx

Lori23TTC · 27/11/2020 14:39

@MrsKin90 sorry to hear about the spotting 💙 I hope you are ok...

I’m DPO7 so little while for me to go!

At least it’s Friday I hope everyone can have a stress free weekend! If I’m not pregnant his cycle I have to call the fertility clinic and if they can fit me in I have to have a Hysterosalpingography, or HSG test. Really doesn’t sound pleasant but is anything in ttc?! Has anyone had this? Xx

MrsKin90 · 27/11/2020 14:23

@Oilyoilyoilgob I'll be hoping for the best for you and little cat today. My heart really goes out to you honestly. What a heartbreaking situation to be in. Let yourself have as many tears as you need to. ❤️ Sending lots of hugs your way.

@DinkBoo how very confusing for you! I'm glad to hear all is well with little bean right now, hopefully the empty sac will be gone by the time you have your next scan!

When I lose track of the thread I just chime back in wherever it is currently and hope I haven't missed anything too important 😂

DinkBoo · 27/11/2020 12:52

@Oilyoilyoilgob I'm so sorry! Flowers

I'll be thinking of you and sending you all my virtual support.

I hope everything goes as gently as it possibly can.

DinkBoo · 27/11/2020 12:50

I officially cannot keep up with you guys anymore! Grin Blush

Still reading and crossing my fingers for you all. Daffodil Star

Just a quick update, had a very worrying bleed Tuesday am which I thought was bean and/or empty sac going. Hence being crap at posting.

Bean still there and growing, measuring 6.4 weeks (which I think is right from dtd dates).

Empty sac also still there, and now officially being described as an empty sac, which may or may not be worrying (as it is still there, that may indicate 'something worrying' is stopping it being reabsorbed) but they were happy to discharge me to midwife for now, as long as I keep worrying Wink

(I love the NHS with all my heart but man are they great at emotional rollercoasters at times, understandably, but still)

Oilyoilyoilgob · 27/11/2020 12:47

@MrsKin90 thank you so much for checking, hugely appreciated and I knew it was that date-my husband said the Thursday.
Not a problem on the heat and glasses wipes-I hope they help.

I think I’m like my dad that way, I’ll definitely stop eating when stressed. It won’t do my frame any harm but I do realise I need to eat to stay healthy but I just shut down.
My cat woke up today dragging her back legs, we are at the vets at 5pm. I have a horrible gut feeling she’ll need to be put to sleep and I’ve cried all day.
We are going together to take her 😞

Sorry to derail thread. Just really sad and then I’m in a proper train of thought about everything that I can fester about. Xx

@Oilyoilyoilgob it was in the old thread you mentioned AF! On 31/10 you said... "I’m starting my period today"? Thank you for your kindness and suggestions for the glasses and heat pad! I'm going to look up both 😂 is it terrible that I'm a bit jealous you eat less when stressed?! I'm not jealous of the actual stress of course, but I'm definitely an eater in those situations! 🐖
Happy Friday to everyone!!
Can't believe we've only had this new thread since the start of November.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 26/11/2020 20:03

@MrsKin90 I’m ever so sorry to hear about the spotting and your panic at the masks-it’s horrible with the specs on isn’t it? You can get anti fog wipes that last for up to 8 hours on your glasses, even though it’s still warm under the mask your glasses stay clear.
I’m so sorry to see about the spotting, screw you periods 🖕🏻 I hope you are ok? Enjoy your pâté and wine and look after yourself. If people do get cramps and need warmth I bought a pet snuggle pad-it’s a bit like a discus. You warm it in micro and it stays hot for 12 hours. Safer than a hot water bottle and would be really nice to hug for cramping.
Keep warm and toasty and sending you a big cuddle Mrs kin 💚

Yes I’ll have to check the thread as we normally post when we start don’t we, it’s like a diary. I’ve been getting little twinges and honestly could eat my own limbs. It’s like period hunger. I’ve been eating less due to stress so maybe my body is like, hang on-feed me 😏

@shelbyrae it’s strange because I do really want a baby. I’ll have odd ‘what if’ moments but that’s it 🤔 I’m a very patient person in that way 😄
I guess because every month bar one this year my period came. Then when it didn’t and I had early symptoms and positives tests the pregnancy didn’t stick around. My most prevailing thought is “I’ll deal with a pregnancy when it happens” to be honest because I’ve had a lot of stress the last few years I don’t think I’ve got much left in the tank 😕 I’d say there’s about 5% of my brain reserved as worry free and that gets a different mini worry every day 😅

I hope everyone is ok? I’ve just fitted an electric blanket and fresh bedding on the bed. One episode of Designated Survivor to watch (recommended!) then bedtime for me. Rock n Roll for sure xx

@primrosechill thank you ❤️ I had my hopes a bit TOO high this cycle! I think next cycle I'll just focus on surviving it rather than getting excited 😂 if I O at the same time as this cycle I'll be due AF Xmas day so that'll be a killer!

primrosechill · 26/11/2020 19:44

@MrsKin90 I’m sorry to hear that - screw AF! I know you had your hopes up this time round. It really really sucks - enjoy the wine lovely ❤️🍷
