TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

We need a boost in this thread. Let's get some BFPs please!!

Sorry to hear AF has arrived again @acaciabluebell
And @Lovebug06 the 1st day is always the worst but don't you feel good for that week then not stressing about FW or in the TWW, I've certainly found it's the easiest time of the month a day after AF arrives.

I've had terrible anxiety recently and couldn't wait for my fertility appointment to come through so ended up booking an internal ultrasound test for £130 and had it on Thurs. They arnt a fertility clinic and mainly do reassurance scans for pregnant ladies. Anyway so I had some reassurance everything looks normal. The only thing the lady said was she couldn't see as many egg follicles as would be expected for my age. Which sent me off on a huge panic. The report said Antral Follicle Count 11 in total. 7 in right ovary and 4 in left. When I googled the average for my age it said 15 and above is good. So got me worried a bit. She's no expert in fertility though so couldn't really give me much information. Anyway, I have decided to stop obsessing over this new information and after reading a few of your girls comments @Izzie94 and @CausingChaos2 I've decided after this month (currently CD11) to have a few months off and ditch the calender and opk and try avoid even counting what CD I am. My DH said it is starting to get to him now seeing me so upset all the time, and he isn't enjoying sex anymore. Think it's really time to properly relax with it. Still a few months to wait for our fertility appointment so just going to focus on my self and get my mental health back on track. It really has taken its toll recently and enough is enough. I really appreciate having you lovely ladies to talk to as I know absolutely noone else in RL who is/has gone through this xx

Lovebug06 · 23/05/2021 18:56

@CausingChaos2 I can talk to him, he's been more understanding lately after realising its taking a long time, but I don't think men get it... They don't feel it like us do they?
Sorry to hear about your bfn, but you do still have a couple of days to go so fingers crossed for you.
Its good your hospital have offered you that, it's all a bit nerve-wracking but at least it helps to get answers xx
@acaciabluebell hope your feeling okay. I was exactly the same yesterday. I feel okay now. I just let it out for a day and then I feel better. Bloody hard this TTC isn't it! Lots of love to you today x

acaciabluebell · 23/05/2021 15:17

Hi girls. AF arrived for me today as well so I'm onto Cycle 16. I have to be honest I'm losing hope that this is ever going to happen for us naturally. I spent most of this morning crying on and off with my husband trying to comfort me. It's been hard.

@Lovebug06 I completely understand your feelings and I feel the exact same. Hope you're feeling better today. I always find CD1 the hardest and feel slightly better a few days later.

CausingChaos2 · 22/05/2021 09:49

Lovebug You aren’t being silly at all. It feels impossible to imagine it happening. I think I’m moving towards acceptance that it just won’t happen naturally now.

It must have been really tough to hear your friends news. Can you talk to your OH about how you’re feeling? Mine is perplexed why it hasn’t happened but doesn’t have the same anguish about it. Sending love to you - we all completely understand.

I’m 11dpo and just had a BFN. Yesterday the hospital called to offer me the lap and dye operation in three weeks time so need to psyche myself up for that.

Lovebug06 · 21/05/2021 22:40

Hi everyone,

AF has just come so I'm now cycle 18.
I keep positive and I will be again, but I realistically feel like it's unlikely to just happen now. How long can you keep upbeat for? My friend has announced, it wasnt planned as she'd only met her partner literally a few weeks before. I won't lie, I've found that hard.
Far worse off people than me I know, but the heartache is just so bad when AF comes. It's not just about that, it's the realisation that it really isn't happening, that the hope is wavering.
Im being silly. But my heart just hurts so badly x

I hope your all okay ♥️

CausingChaos2 · 20/05/2021 11:48

Lauz Good that you’re clear of the BV but frustrating that it hasn’t solved what’s causing the issues. A referral to gynae seems like a good idea. Are you still having symptoms? The antibiotics are strong so it may be worth using something like balance activ while things adjust.

I think NHS waiting time are going to be screwed for a long while thanks to covid.

Hello Izzie94 hope everything comes back clear from your colposcopy. We had a similar experience when we weren’t allowed to TTC as I’d had the MMR jab. It’s very freeing isn’t it? I was hoping to just take the relaxed approach too but as soon as we were allowed to TTC again I whipped the ovulation tests out Grin

Izzie94 · 20/05/2021 10:00

Hi everyone

How are you all?

Sorry to hear there’s still NO luck on this thread. Maybe we need to start a new one 🤣 lol.

DH and I have had a couple of months off TTC due to my colposcopy which I’m still awaiting results for after my biopsy. It’s been absolutely lovely not worrying about TTC. Genuinely think we may continue with the “not trying” stance going forward. We’re month 15, but obviously a few months off in that time. Had my day 2 bloods done and my ovarian reserve was apparently fantastic! Which is good news. DH is a bit more worried it’s him now, but we’ve booked some holidays and we’re going to relax the rest of this year. If it doesn’t happen by December, we’re going to look into a private clinic for 2022 🤍 I’m feeling strangely positive. I do also meet with a natural fertility doctor which has been amazing x

SparkyLauz · 18/05/2021 09:47

@lovebug06 hi hope you're okay! Unfortunately AF came Thurs so onto cycle 16. I'm giving acupuncture a try today for the first time, hoping this gives some results.

@causingchaos2 I'm all clear from BV so drs not a clue on what's causing all these symptoms, it seems I've been on antibiotics for no reason. It's all a bit confusing so I'm thinking the next step is they will refer me to gynae?

I rang the fertility clinic too to see where we were on the list. When I spoke to them in March they said its a 3 month wait. And after talking to them again yesterday they're still saying a 3 month wait so it's going to be 5 months from when I was referred before I likely see anyone which is a bit rubbish. Considering private as its just the not knowing that's making it worse and causing bad anxiety xx

CausingChaos2 · 17/05/2021 11:45

Thanks Lovebug yes so very hard to imagine, and I really hope for the same for us all by the end of the year.

Hello JeanieJ it’s a nice relaxed thread so don’t worry about being on/ off. Understand you must be worried about the right tube, but it’s great that your left is clear. I hope your consultant is able to reassure you when you see them.

JeanieJ · 16/05/2021 18:19

Hey Ladies,

I'm kinda on and off this thread sometimes, but check in to see how everyone is doing.

Anyone had a HSG? I had mine yesterday, left tube is totally fine, but she couldn't get visibility on the right one & said it's either slow or was obscured by the dye from the left one. I have to wait a few weeks to speak to my fertility consultant about it. Feeling very sad that it's basically uncertain on my right side and totally in the dark as to what the next steps are - still waiting on AMH results, but my ultrasound was fine.

Sending baby dust to everyone this month
xx

Lovebug06 · 13/05/2021 15:05

@CausingChaos2 I can understand that ♥️
Let us know how it goes.
I hope it's your lucky month too.
So hard to imagine it actually happening now though isn't it?
I hope by the end of the year this heartbreak is all a memory for us all. X

CausingChaos2 · 12/05/2021 14:04

SparkyLauz Hope your results have come back clear, or at least if not they can get the antibiotics sorted for you both. What a pain. Wouldn’t rule going private out, although in my area only 2 cycles of IVF are funded. So wondering if I should get everything done on the NHS that I can incase we end up needing to fund more goes at IVF. Crazy to be thinking like this. Makes me cross as I should have had this pain properly investigated years ago. Ugh so sorry about the BFN. We really deserve some good news!

Lovebug06 hello lovely. I’m pretty apprehensive about the lap & dye but guess it needs to be done. I hope this is your lucky month. I got my peak yesterday so not far behind you. Keep us updated next week and as always, fingers crossed that AF stays away 🤞

Lovebug06 · 11/05/2021 21:52

@Izzie94 I hope your okay. I have been there lovely. I had CIN3. It was my first smear test as well that was done a few months before 25 and they were bad. But they got rid of them and I was clear. I am actually due to go again now. I am HUGELY into raising awareness of smear tests. In Scotland the age was 18 and yet England it's 25.i think its disgraceful as you can have advanced cells growing before that age(such as myself). So sad that smears are at an all time low. Sorry I will not rant anymore🤣 I'm just passionate about this.
But basically you went and they have got the cells now and can treat it❤️ It's scary and I'm sending you love as I know how it feels but you went at the right time ❤️
Please let us know your okay ❤️ xx
@CausingChaos2 it's good you got your appointment a bit earlier. Sounds a bit scary but also good that they will give you this help ❤️
How are you feeling x
@SparkyLauz
How are you? I hope AF doesn't come. Its crap when you know it is though Sad
But fingers crossed.
I think it was you that wrote above there's only been 2 BFPs in this group.
Its crazy really. It started at 8 months and that's a normal amount of time, but mad nearly all of us are still here. I guess it shows how many people struggle?
I find it hard to imagine what it would be like to just get pregnant and it all be lovely and happiness and so easy like others seem to have. It's just been heartache for me!

SA came back. Was all a bit crazy and hard work to even get results but it's got to be done again. Feel like giving up most of the time it's just hard work. Feels like it's never gonna happen and there's just always something in the way.

Anyway, I had some time out for myself mentally for a couple of weeks and avoided all baby threads but I'm feeling OK atm so came for some updates. . 5dpo so not anywhere exciting in the cycle. I'll be anxious this time next week! Xx

SparkyLauz · 10/05/2021 19:47

@causingchaos2 Yes I have been on 2 courses of metronidazole now. I'm just waiting for swab results back from Friday to see if it is BV again. If it is I think they might end up giving me and DH antibiotics as I think he's passing it back to me each month some how!

Aww no that could be a long wait then, Have you considered going private with it?

Thanks, hope you're okay xx

10dpo today I did a test yesterday morning BFN as per usual 😭 and pre AF spotting started too today x

CausingChaos2 · 08/05/2021 08:56

Sparky That’s really crap about the BV. Were you on metronidazole? When I had recurrent BV I eventually asked for a different medication. Was given a cream to use vaginally which cleared it up without the yucky metronidazole side effects. Only issue is it would scupper your chances of TTC that month - is very creamy and oily. Yes fertility clinic would probably want it all sorted first but with waiting times hopefully they’d sort the BV out while you were waiting for other treatments?

Consultant wouldn’t/ couldn’t give me a timescale for the lap & dye. He said they’re only just starting up again since covid and some ladies have had the NHS rules for entitlement to starting treatment breached, so of course they will all be ahead of me. Some have been waiting over a year, so think I’ll be in for the long haul. Sending hugs back and hope the BV clears off once and for all. Flowers

SparkyLauz · 08/05/2021 07:32

Hi @laura2093 I'm sorry I don't have anything on SA my dh had one in Feb but they just said 'all was okay' we didn't even get a report or anything! I presume he will have to have another one once the fertility clinic actually get in touch which should be next month if they're not any further behind on their appointments.

Hi @causingchaos2 I'm OK thankyou, currently 8dpo but what seems like another bout of BV has appeared even though I was on (a 2nd set) of antibiotics less than a month ago to clear it. Had some more swabs done yesterday. The nurse said she thinks the Dr might refer me to gynae soon because of this due to the fact I've been TTC over 12 months aswell. She said cervix wasn't as inflamed as the last time she looked but still red. My only concern is that the fertility clinic won't go through with investigations until my other 'lady problems' have been sorted? I'm not sure what to think.

It's great that your DP has super swimmers!!
How long do you have to wait until your lap and dye? At least you are closer to getting some answers now that's the main thing. sending hugs x

Hope everyone is OK. Xx

CausingChaos2 · 06/05/2021 09:46

Hello ladies, how are you all? Where are you all in your cycles?

Izzie94 You poor thing. I hope your results all come back fine and you’re feeling a little better now?

Yesterday morning I had a call from gynae to say they had cancellations that afternoon. So we unexpectedly had our first appt yesterday. Gynae ran through our results which are all normal so far (with DP seeming to have super swimmers Hmm ), but has suggested I go straight for lap & dye due to the extreme period pain I suffer with. He said if it weren’t for the pain they would be checking my tubes under X-ray instead. Also had my blood taken to check AMH levels.

If all ok, 6-9 months of clomid then if still no luck, IVF. If tubes found to be blocked, straight to IVF. Felt very scary to hear that being put on the table even though I know the longer we don’t conceive the more we are moving towards IVF.

I was surprised to hear clomid suggested when I have periods every month (sometimes twice a month). If it came to it, I might argue that I don’t want clomid, but just got to wait and see what the lap & dye finds first. Lots of talk of endometriosis so he must have a suspicion.

Just want to fall pg naturally now more than ever to avoid all this intervention Sad

laura2093 · 03/05/2021 09:46

Hello ladies,

I'm back after a break. We are now 1 month away from my partners 2nd SA - and our referral has been changed from routine to urgent to try and get things moving faster.

Does anyone have any 3% sperm morphology success stories? Xxx

SparkyLauz · 30/04/2021 11:02

@Izzie94 aww no hope you're ok. That's the least you want at an already difficult time. Im sure everything will be all OK though once this problem has been sorted you may well be on the way to a bfp soon after!

Yes so glad things are starting to get to normal again now phew xx

Izzie94 · 29/04/2021 22:00

Hi lovely’s 😌

I’m so sorry I’ve been quiet, we’re having a month off due to ideally not wanting a January baby. I also had a colposcopy booked this month as my smear was HPV positive and abnormal cells. I had a punch biopsy taken last week and it was really not very nice. So I’ve been a little down worrying about my results but trying to keep positive.

I’m so sad for us all that we’re still all here!! :( it’s so unfair. But, good things come to those that wait right?😅 we’re heading slowly back into “normal” pre covid life, so I have a feeling it’s going to be soon for us all🤍 x

@SparkyLauz

This cycle I'm trying Conceive Plus lube as not sure I have much EWCM. I had a positive on an opk today im cd11 and usually get it a bit later so less of a wait for me now this month !
I tried conceive plus too don't think we used it enough though so going to try it with dtd every time xx
