TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

Hi everyone- I know I just recently joined but I’m still here too. Cycle 16 now I believe… I’m starting to lose count. A couple of friends have announced on our end.. 2nd pregnancy and the other is having twins so it’s been rough.

I’m slowly losing hope that this will happen naturally. So come November we’re going back to the fertility clinic if nothing has happened.

Sending everyone tons of love and strength. This process is truly heartbreaking and I’m sorry we’re all still stuck on this thread.

JeanieJ · 11/08/2021 20:33

I'm still here too guys 🙄 - Cycle 14 for me.
Gone through all my fertility tests & one tube was blocked in the HSG - same side as where my appendicitis was as a kid.
I was given the option of straight to IVF or doing a lap first to see if they can unblock, so I've gone for that- but waiting list is like 4 months (at least). I hope I've made the right choice.

@CausingChaos2 - sorry to hear your lap & dye was cancelled 😩. How long had you been waiting?
@SparkyLauz fingers crossed your results come back ok.

I'm pretty open with close friends & direct family about it. My friends are very supportive, but my family are a bit crap 🙄

Lovebug06 · 11/08/2021 12:44

Sorry to hear your both still waiting. I am the same.
This thread has had no luck. Even the title saying 8 months. That seemed hard then, it seems like a dream now.
Currently having problems with the clinic as they kept losing DH results now they think we arent British so I'm having to prove I'm am to get help. Which is just totally bizarre.

Also found out I have endometriosis, which isn't great. But I have an appointment for that in 2 weeks.

Sending you loads of love. What a journey we have had.

CausingChaos2 · 11/08/2021 12:20

I’m glad your friend sounds really kind and considerate Sparky I haven’t told many friends but the couple who do know have been really supportive. My family have been really good too, and like you say, it’s tiresome covering it up all the time. It’s sad though as I always planned how I was going to surprise my Mum with the news and now it won’t really pan out like that.

I had a call yesterday to say that my consultant is off sick and they don’t know when he’ll be back so my lap & dye next week is cancelled. Fed up.

I hope your results all come back positive and you’re given some guidance about the next steps at your appointment. Let us all know how you get on if you feel able to x

SparkyLauz · 11/08/2021 10:26

I know I can't either. Thought there would be at least a few more bfps by now!! Yeah I told my friend about my struggles way back in October, not thinking that I would still be in this position now, she's very sympathetic and considerate of my feelings she's great. I have told quite a lot of friends and my mum as i cant be bothered lying anymore about it to be honest! None of his family know yet and don't think we will say anything either. How did your immediate family take it?
Its positive that you're moving in the right direction with things now, and have a plan going forward.

I still feel so in limbo about whats going on hoping I get some proper information next Thursday when I get the results. Sending hugs xx

CausingChaos2 · 08/08/2021 20:33

Hello Sparky love I can’t believe we are all still here. It must have been really tough meeting your friend. Is your friend aware of what you’re going through?

I won’t tell you not to research and worry as I’m a massive hypocrite! But honestly I made myself ill researching the AMH problem I have. Distraction and keeping busy is helpful at times.

My immediate family know what we’re going through now but we haven’t shared with the in laws. How are you all managing that side of things? We get comments from DPs parents about starting a family almost every time we see them so it’s difficult.

SparkyLauz · 08/08/2021 06:33

@Lovebug06 and @CausingChaos2

Hi girls. Hope you are well. Unfortunately still no baby news for me, on cycle 19 and still waiting for results from fertility consultant, all they've done so far is an internal ultrasound and amh blood test, seemed concerned my period Is just 2 days long every month, and after reading up I've convinced myself it's Asherman Syndrome. Hoping and praying its not. I've been taking it easy TTC recently with lockdown gone I've had a lot more distractions and tried not to think about it too much. However my friend has now given birth and I met her baby last week, which sent me back to square one again lol xx

CausingChaos2 · 07/08/2021 17:23

Hello Lovebug how are you? I’m sorry I’ve been absent for a while. Have you been seen by the clinic as yet?

I’ve been hugely burying my head in the sand since we had the poor AMH results. I can’t remember when I last posted on the thread but the consultant was really rude too. In the end he offered me to either go straight to IVF or to have a lap & dye first. After so much handwringing and upset I decided on lap & dye but am hugely worried that my AMH will be further damaged by the operation. But I have always suffered with terrible periods and I guess if we move to IVF it helps to know if endometriosis is present. So the week after next I am booked in.

Lovebug06 · 07/08/2021 17:00

How is everyone?

acaciabluebell · 13/07/2021 16:14

@MarMar123 There's a big ttc community on Insta and you can be totally anonymous so its a bit like Mumsnet. It's brilliant. Feel free to pm if you want more info 😊

Hope all you ladies are well. Happy CD1 to me! Cycle 18 here we come...

MarMar123 · 10/07/2021 11:49

@acaciabluebell thank you! ♥️ I’m just so happy not to feel so alone anymore.

I’m happy to connect on insta if you want to share it. I’m a little apprehensive about following ttc accounts. Only a few friends know we’re struggling and as far as family goes only my parents know so I worry nosy people will see it and know? Is that irrational?

Someone feel free to talk me off the ledge!

acaciabluebell · 09/07/2021 22:17

@Izzie94 so sorry to hear of your smear results and the BFN 😔 I'm right behing you, about to go into my 18th cycle. I also don't use MN as often anymore but I have a TTC insta which I am happy to share and connect with you all on there xx

@MarMar123 welcome xx

MarMar123 · 09/07/2021 03:26

@Izzie94@Lovebug06 I’m so excited to be doing this. Finally people I can actually relate to!

I hope you both have the best weekend ♥️ ♥️

Lovebug06 · 08/07/2021 21:25

@MarMar123 @Izzie94 I need real people who understand. I'm all for this x

Izzie94 · 08/07/2021 09:30

@Lovebug06 @MarMar123 sent you both messages girls 💓

MarMar123 · 07/07/2021 21:39

@Lovebug06 thank you! It is heartbreaking isn’t? I ask “why me” constantly but I also wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It’s just nice to have others who understand this process and are going through a similar situation.

@Izzie94 I’m so sorry that your SIL decided to tell you at that time…it’s odd how people react to others infertility journey. And yes the unexplained is absolute worst part… how can it be unexplained if I can’t do something that I was biologically programmed to do?

I’m happy to connect with anyone- I don’t have single friend that is in the “unexplained” group. All of our friends started trying after us and they now have their babies. I worry that they’ll start trying for their second and I’ll still be in this same boat 😔

Lovebug06 · 07/07/2021 18:44

@izzie94
I've never done it before but I'll happily swap details with you. I need someone who understands too.

We are kind of similar. Step parent, late twenties (29 in a couple of months) been trying a long time. I also had CIN3 so have been through that but it was a few years ago now.

I have lost hope now. Its just shit.

Izzie94 · 07/07/2021 09:57

Do any of you ladies have Instagram? / Facebook? And rather connect on there? I’m trying to remain off MN slightly to help me but love to check in with people and support anyone 💓 although I appreciate lots of people want to be anonymous! But let me know and I’ll DM you my details xx

Izzie94 · 07/07/2021 09:53

Hey ladies!

How are you all? I took a massive break from MN! Although not from TTC 😅 I started temping this month which has been fascinating. I love being able to see / confirm ovulation!! Although my temps have now dropped which = AF. We’ll be going onto cycle 19 🙁 but I had some news that I have CIN2(from my smear), so I have to have a Loop biopsy which it’s recommended to not get pregnant for 6 months, so I’ve been feeling really really down and not only that when I got that news I told my SIL, whom then thought it would be the perfect time to tell me she was pregnant!!! So I was really hoping for a BFP this month. Really starting to lose hope it’ll happen naturally for us now. DH is so positive and seems to think it will.

Sending you all love, it seems this journey is completely unfair and tough on us all💓 I just wish we had answers rather than unexplained!! I’ll be 28 if we do conceive now after our 6 month wait, and I was 25 when we decided to start trying!!! So crazy to me x

Lovebug06 · 06/07/2021 20:51

Is everyone else okay? X

Lovebug06 · 06/07/2021 20:51

@MarMar123 welcome. This thread can be slow at times but we always come back together and support each other, we haven't had much luck x

I understand everything you have said. I was on the pill for 14 years. It's bloody terrible and heartbreaking and I wouldn't wish this feeling on anyone. In this thread I think everyone is over a year now.
We are here for you and I hope your feeling okay today ❤️

MarMar123 · 02/07/2021 13:51

Hi ladies,

Long time lurker here. I’ve been following the thread since January but never commented. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I’m 32 and my DH is 38. We have been TTC for 14 cycles now. Both of us are completely healthy, and started going to a fertility clinic in May. Literally nothing is wrong, I ovulate every month, AMH level is great, his sperm is normal. We just can’t get pregnant for whatever reason. I just finished my first round of progesterone and now I’m waiting for AF so we can start cycle 15.

I know a lot of you have said this but I just want to say this is complete shit. I can’t believe I was on the pill for 15 years trying to prevent a pregnancy.

Anyways, I’m angry and bitter and jealous and tired. But mostly tired. My heart goes out to you ladies that have been trying longer than me. Sending you all my best ♥️

Lovebug06 · 17/06/2021 18:25

@acaciabluebell lots of love to you. Its bloody shit this ttc

acaciabluebell · 17/06/2021 15:15

@Lovebug06 I'm right behind you. AF got me today and I'm starting cycle 17/18 (can't remember exactly). I'm exactly the same, I've not cried at all and just been totally numb. I guess I just have no hope anymore.

Lovebug06 · 17/06/2021 11:00

@acaciabluebell it got me yesterday so cycle 19. Feel a bit wobbly but I haven't cried, I feel a bit numb and just like I've totally lost hope. I will get myself up again and be positive again though I'm sure.

Sorry to hear about your bfn ❤️ I hope your feeling okay x
