TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

30somethingyorkie · 18/10/2020 23:36

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

@Juno231 for May!!! Oh my goodness me. BUT, least you have a date 🤍✨ hopefully this will help you just take a step back for a little while and you never know what can happen in those 6 months 👶🏽😍 does it feel a bit of relief to have a date? Unfortunately the NHS won’t do anything else for me and DH due to him already have a child (did not think this through when falling in love with him... HA kidding 🤣) so private is next steps for us, which we’re going to have further testing in the new year! X

@MJM1608 omg only 5 weeks? That’s even going slow for me!!! Feels like you told us like a month ago now at least 😂 omg I saw that today!! Can’t be dealing with these lockdowns anymore 😩 I have a feeling it’ll continue right up until Christmas and we’ll be allowed to mix with some households over the Xmas period! Will DH be able to go to the private scan with you? I know they’re a lot more chilled than the NHS with partners - really makes me mad that!

Glad you’re not feeling too many symptoms yet, fingers crossed it stays that way for you 😍 hahaha I know right it would be blood typical wouldn’t it after not “trying” and after 11 months of being obsessed 🙄 I’m trying to limit my mumsnet time because im crazy and think it’s going to stop me falling as I’m constantly reading stuff LOL (I’m mad I think). I’m am lovely, I didn’t do OPKS but I’m CD20, and usually ovulate CD18 ☺️ We’re definitely doing that in the new year for sure, we’ve been saving to move, BUT we always knew we may need to dip into it at some point I’m just grateful we have savings and can afford it without thinking twice!

Hope you keep well during lockdown, not how you plan a first pregnancy but least you’re keeping safe 🥰 x x x

MJM1608 · 19/11/2020 07:22

Hi lovely ladies! Just checking in ☺️ I was 5 weeks yesterday & still waiting another 2 weeks for my first scan (7 weeks)... OMG time doesn’t move!!! Glasgow are going back into lockdown so all plans at the weekend are cancelled for 3 weeks, the wait is painful 😂😭 still not many symptoms.. boobs are more sensitive, waves of nausea (esp when I’m driving)... that’s really it! I’m counting my blessings as I’m sure they will hit me like a tonne of bricks soon!

@Izzie94 - you never know for this month!! When you relax more with TTC that’s when the miracles happen!! (It used to annoy me so much when people said relax but it did actually work for us 😂). I hope you get your positive soon - a year is tough!! Are you in the TWW now? If we hadn’t fallen pregnant soon our fertility doc recommended a “dye test” where they flush your tubes and clear the path... he said the success within 6 months is high. Would that be something for you to look in to? It cost around £500 at our clinic (bloody expensive I know!!). Glad you’re staying positive hun 💜✨PS totally agree about more women sharing their TTC stories, all you see is the perfect motherhood on social media, but would love to know more about the struggles of trying... I’m going to do a post about this, I feel so strongly & was totally blindsided by it!!

@Lovebug06 has your AF come now or are you still waiting? Hope there’s still some hope for you this month🤞🏼❤️ We need some Christmas miracles!

@Juno231 Aww gosh that’s a long wait, deffo good to get your name down now!! What’s the first step of the assessment? Our fertility assessments for both of us were £550 if this helps. The process took 2 months which is fairly quick (had a CP during that which delayed things). Hope you’re hanging in there ok ☺️🙏🏻✨

@SparkyLauz glad your cycles are getting longer!! I guess it’s good that you are still regular & can track your AF/ov every month 🙏🏻 Are you doing anything differently this month or just sticking to what you know? ☺️ I loved using the clear blue advanced ovulation kits - deffo worked for me! xxxx

Juno231 · 18/11/2020 22:14

Well girls I suggest you all get the NHS tests done sooner rather than later - my gp put a referal through for me to go to a fertility clinic and the assessment appointment has been set for 17th of May lol. Might have to go private at this rate 🙊

Izzie94 · 18/11/2020 08:40

@SparkyLauz oh absolutely!! I think the sudden wave of people on social media announcing pregnancies makes me just wish it was me 😩 although you never know the story behind them do you. I wish more people were open about ttc! Hahaha I LOVE the clear blue ones, I find them much easier. I do have some but didn’t use them this month as DH has his tooth out yesterday and I think ov would have been yesterday / today! So we haven’t been able to DTD as much as usual, but if that hasn’t worked before then I’m not overly fussed 🙄😅 kind of writing myself off this month, which is nice because I’m not arsed about the TWW for once!!! 🤣

How’s everyone else getting on? We all seem to be at different points in our cycle, and I’m really forgetful 😂 hope there’s some more BFPs to come?! I’m trying to think positive that if it hasn’t happened by Xmas I’ll be super positive for 2021, it’ll be a better year for scans, I can consume copious amounts of wine and pate!!! Lol! January will mark an official year for us, so it’s gotta happen soon right!? 😅 happy hump day! Got to love a Wednesday xxx

SparkyLauz · 17/11/2020 21:17

@izzie94 Its hard when you get into that mind set isnt it. With all the hormones flying around too you can be ok one minute and the next minute totally losing it thinking this is never going to happen! I caved and bought some more OPKs today after saying I wont use them anymore I know pretty much when I ovulate after tracking it but want to keep seeing that smiley face and then the TWO lines you get when you remove the test from the machine haha 😁

@Lovebug06 i've allllways spotted before and after so its really normal for me. That's why I always get into a limbo every month as to whether its AF or IB, nightmare! I really can't understand how people have managed to get pregnant whilst being on the pill!! Its crazy isn't it. I was on it for 12 years and never once had a PG scare. Also, I'm annoyed for not educating myself earlier as really wouldn't have needed to be on the pill all that time I could have just avoided FW and used protection for one week of the month for those many years!

Lovebug06 · 16/11/2020 14:42

@sparkylauz I don't really spot before at all, I think once I did a couple of months ago as I was confused😂. The last couple of months I've had a bit of spotting a few days after it finished, not sure if that's normal.
Mine are usually 28 days but I've had 26 days a couple of times. And this month I ovulated very early which happened once before so my cycle will be short. I'm waiting for AF now but as I don't do opks anymore I can't say exactly but I think it's maybe tommorow I'm due.
I came off at the start of the year it was end of jan/early Feb (not sure of exact date as I didn't track properly at the start) and I'm at the end of cycle 10. I was on the pill around 14 years. But then people fall pregnant on the pill, by missing on, or when they come off it straight away!
@Izzie94 yes that's it! AF is due around now. Probably tommorow I think. So when it comes and I feel crap, seeing how much dh and the sdc love each other is so hard as I want it so much. But then they also give me cuddles and take my mind off it so its also great that they'll be here Smile

Izzie94 · 16/11/2020 12:25

Hey girls!

Hope you’re all ok?

@Juno231 it’s such a strange feeling isn’t it!! I always knew it could take a little while, but I just never expected to be approaching the one year mark! 😔 I hate the TWW! I haven’t used OPKs this month, but I think I’m around 2 days off ov. Noticed EWCM this morning ✨

@SparkyLauz Yes I did have all positive results!! I’m just being irrational I think and assuming it’ll mean it’s unexplained infertility 😔😂 I know I’m half being silly but I got myself in a horrible frame of mind!! How are you? Xx

@MJM1608 ahhhh I bet it drags but how amazing. It’s crazy to think there’s a little baby growing every single day 🥰😍 hope your scan comes round quickly and you don’t get any horrible symptoms in the meantime! Thank you lovely ✨ avoided the opks this month, and I think I’m about 2 days off! Fingers crossed 🤍 we’d love a winter baby anyway so I feel more relaxed about this month now.

@30somethingyorkie thank you lovely ☺️✨ trying to feel more positive!! It really is so frustrating. I keep seeing announcements and my SIL is now trying and I can see that coming anyday so I think that got me down! Oh my DSS mother is not motherly at allll!! And that really doesn’t help 😔

@Lovebug06 didn’t explain that wrong at all lovely. I feel this SO much!!! I love him very very much, and he’s a lovely little boy. But I really want to have that connection with DH to have our own, and for someone to love me back as much as DSS loves DH. He always wants to sit with him, cuddle him etc, which is lovely to see but I want that 😔 and for us to have that together. How are you feeling other than that? Where are you in your cycle? So sorry if I missed that xx

SparkyLauz · 16/11/2020 12:07

@MJM1608 Thankyou im fine. 😊I will do! You're positivity is really helping on here, thanks for sticking with us! X

Lovebug06 how long have you been off the pill for? And do you spot for a few days before and after a proper flow? X

After looking back, i've realised my cycles are gradually getting longer, they started at 23 /24 days in may/june/july now theyre 27/28 days so I think its my body going back to normal after being on the pill for so long. I've had a regular AF every month since coming off the pill but has always been on the short side. This has been my longest cycle yet, So fingers crossed that in the next few months it will be BFP for me as the cycle lengthens more? So after figuring this out I've decided not to go for investigations until maybe after Christmas x

Juno231 · 16/11/2020 11:10

How is everyone? I'm 5DPO and the first half of TWW has flown by. Now for the suuuuuper slow part lol as I'll struggle not to test. I really, really want to hold off until 11DPO at the earliest this time but I have never been able to exercise such discipline in the past!

Maybe I'll do that thing where I get OH to take care of the tests until it's time?

Lovebug06 · 15/11/2020 19:53

@30somethingyorkie @Izzie94 think I explained that last bit badly. I love sdcs very much, but they have their own mum of course and I just want to feel that bond/love for myself that I see dh have with them.

Lovebug06 · 15/11/2020 19:44

@sparkylauz wow that sounds like me. I have short cycles and 2 day periods. I had tried not to think much of it as my periods came regulary and had come straight back after coming off the pill so I thought that was good. Maybe it's why I'm having trouble then?
@Izzie94 @Juno231 I'm just behind you both and feel the same. Feel so deflated getting near the year mark. I know it can be normal but when you hear constantly about accidents and people getting pregannt really quickly I can't help but worry there's something wrong. Especially as dh has dc. I kind of want to go and get tests to find out but then I feel reluctant at the same time but I don't know why. I guess it's just as i don't want it to have to get to that.
@MJM1608 I'm truly so over the moon for you.
@30somethingyorkie @Izzie94
I feel the same regarding sdcs. I love them they're such great kids but I'm finding it difficult because I see how much dh loves them (that amazing love a parent has for their child) and I want that so badly myself and it just isn't happening which gets me down. I do so much with them but nothing changes that they aren't mine. Maybe that sounds bad I'm not sure how to explain

MJM1608 · 15/11/2020 10:57

@SparkyLauz aw hun I’m so sorry 😞 hope you’re ok!! We are really pleased we had fertility checks as it gave us peace of mind we were doing everything right & everything was ok. Paid about £550, if you have any questions please ask ❤️

@Izzie94 thanks for checking in lovely!! Still no wild symptoms! Constant hunger/growling tummy and a bit of insomnia but nothing to cause concern! We still can’t believe it! 3 weeks until our first scan - honestly time is going soooo slow!!! Way worse than the TWW 😭😂 how are you doing? Hope you’re hanging in there! Deffo try the pre seed again this month! Hope that your positive is coming this month!! 🧡✨

@Juno231 sending positive vibes to you this month!! 🙏🏻💜

@30somethingyorkie glad you’re feeling positive & have re-joined the thread, all the support is here if you need it 😊 glad you’re looking more forward to DTD! I didn’t obsess over OPKs this month & it happened to work just DTD every day when I had EWCM. Hopefully good news before Xmas 🤞🏼🥰

Sorry everyone is feeling a bit flat - sending you all love!! Keep going ✨ xxx

SparkyLauz · 15/11/2020 05:46

@Lovebug06 I'm starting cycle 9 now, I've been trying for just over 7 months but my cycles are really short. My AF has arrived but literally will last 2 days, not sure if this is a reason why I'm not pg yet tbh.

@Izzie94 Thanks, aww yeah I was in that frame of mind last month when AF I just couldn't stop crying either. You've had all your fertility checks and they came back fine?! surely its going to happen for you any day now❤

@juno231 Thanks, and yeah I treat myself to a few homemade mojitos last night which I rather enjoyed haha!

@30somethingyorkie thanks xx

Surprisingly iv not shed a tear this month! I think I'd already sort of geared myself up for AF so it was less of a disappointment.

Juno231 · 14/11/2020 22:45

@Izzie94 thank you 😊. I agree, it's getting to the one year mark that makes me think I'm at the stage where it's clearly not going to happen naturally anymore. My cycles are regular but not THAT regular - FF tells me my average is 27 days but with a min /max of 24-27. With OD on CD16 I suspect AF will be here on CD29 - aka the 24th.

I'll probably test on Sunday at 11DPO in that case!

30somethingyorkie · 14/11/2020 22:45

Feeling much more positive today, new cycle new chance. We've not been DTD to any real schedule as don't want it to be too planned. So yesterday I said to my DH I was setting him a 30 sex challenge this month 😂 his response was a very happy smile followed by the realisation in his words that he's "getting old" 😂😂

@MJM1608 I can't even imagine waiting for a 7 week scan, TWW is bad enough, but you'll be able to see your little miracle

@SparkyLauz sorry to hear AF arrived, just try and see it as another new opportunity, this month could be your month 🤞🏻

@Izzie94 please don't give up hope, it will happen for all of us I'm sure! Sending lots af baby dust!! I won't say don't stress because I know how frustrating it is when you just want those two little lines!!
I know exactly what you mean with DSS, love him to bits but hurts so much that he's not my own (especially when his mum isn't exactly motherly). It's just not fair is it!?

@Juno231 you never know what might happen this month, but I know the feeling of not wanting to get your hopes us as you feel the inevitable will happen

Izzie94 · 14/11/2020 22:35

@Juno231 hope it’s your month!!🤍✨ we really need some more positivity on this thread. I’m really struggling this month too, I’m not even sure why. I guess as we get closer to the 12 month ttc mark I’m wondering if it really will ever happen or if we’ll just be unexplained infertility 😔 the stats online don’t suggest anything hopeful for me!!! Ughhh haha.

Fingers and toes crossed for you!!! How longs your cycle usually? I’m about 3 days from OV xxx

Juno231 · 14/11/2020 22:31

@SparkyLauz I'm so sorry :( is there anything you can do as a treat? Wine and chocolate at the very least I hope.

3DPO here but I feel pretty deflated already. Sort of just waiting for AF instead of wondering if this could be the month.

Izzie94 · 14/11/2020 22:28

@SparkyLauz have a wine and some chocolate lovely 🤍✨ keep yourself occupied. I’ve taken a few days out, I’m usually so so positive but I don’t know what’s come over me the last few weeks. I feel like it never going to happen naturally, and on month 11, I’m resigning myself to the fact it may need to be further intervention 😩 ever get yourself into one of those moods? Hope you’re ok xx

@Lovebug06 how’s things for you? 🥰 hopefully it’s not AF!!! But I honestly feel you now. I feel like it’s never going to happen and I just can’t even feel optimistic now 😩 seeing the same alllll over my social media. I wish every pregnancy post came with a back story of how long!! Month 11 here and not feeling like it’s going to happen anytime soon. 🙁 xx

@MJM1608 how’s everything with you lovely? 🤍✨ so glad to have one positive out of this thread so far!!! Hope you’re not too stressed and enjoying every minute Xx

@30somethingyorkie sorry you’re feeling the way you do 😔 I know that feeling all too well. It seems we all put so much pressure on ourselves. I don’t care what anyone says, but stress doesn’t / or help!!!! It makes zero sods different to conceiving or not!! I hope our time comes soon. Really feel like we’ve been waiting too long and I struggle with DSS. He’s amazing but makes me just wish I was a mum you know.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, I took a few days off to try and chill (yet I can’t stop bloody thinking about it!!!) currently in my FW xxx

Lovebug06 · 14/11/2020 19:33

Really sorry to hear that @sparkylauz I think I'm just behind you I can feel mine coming now I'm aching down there and slight cramps.
Hope it's okay to ask as I have lost track, how many cycles are you now?

SparkyLauz · 14/11/2020 17:25

AF is here. Convinced myself the 2 days spotting was IB. AF hasn't gone into full swing yet but definitely getting heavier. Think we are going to enquire about some private initial fertility tests this week just to check all is OK, thinking we would rather know now than however many months more down the line xx

MJM1608 · 13/11/2020 18:56

@30somethingyorkie so sorry to hear AF arrived!! Hope you’re ok & have a nice weekend planned ❤️ Really hope next month is the one for you 🙏🏻

@SparkyLauz nooo hope AF stays away for you!😞 hopefully it’s just spotting & not a heavy flow, we deserve some good news here!! 🤞🏼💖 your body does play tricks - it’s so unfair! I don’t really have any symptoms still if that gives you any hope!

@CausingChaos2 Glad you’re doing ok! 💜 We are still in shock - hopefully soon we will actually start believing it 😂💖 I’ve booked a 7 week scan for 3 weeks today. If you think the TWW is bad, wait until the wait for a scan 😂 time is going soooo slow! Only known for 5 days and it feels like forever!! My 13 week scan is 12th Jan so that’s when we will properly announce but hoping to tell our parents at Xmas all going well 🤞🏼 Thanks for asking, it’s very overwhelming!! Haven’t quite processed it yet! xxxxx

SparkyLauz · 13/11/2020 12:36

@30somethingyorkie Sorry to hear AF arrived for you ☹Aww yes a BFP as a Christmas present would just make it the perfect Christmas wouldn't it. Let's hope its the next cycle eeeek!!

I'm still spotting today, was expecting AF today but its probably going to be tomorrow. If its any later than tomorrow then ile be testing on Sunday morning again I think. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with some awful cramping which has never happened before and couldn't get back to sleep as kep feeling really sick. Was very unusual and my temp is still higher too... my body playing tricks on me.

Juno231 · 12/11/2020 12:15

@CausingChaos2 she called today randomly (and didn't even know we were scheduled for next week lol) and said the guidance on 2.5 is if you are already on levothyroxine and that she can't do anything. She kinda said the fertility clinic are the experts though and that they most likely will take action to lower it... Annoyingly I just moved two weeks ago so to get a fertility clinic referral I need to register locally and request it from the new gp.

Lovebug06 · 12/11/2020 12:11

@CausingChaos2 a new cycle, a whole new month and it could happen for you, is what I tell myself when I begin again, the hope is there again.
@30somethingyorkie sorry to hear about your parents, mine broke up a few years ago in my early twenties and it was horrendous, I'm glad it's quite amicable for you as well as them.
@sparkylauz sorry to hear that, it's so crap. I hope your okay.
@Juno231 I hope your TWW passes quickly, it seems to take forever when your waiting.
