Trying to conceive baby No 1 over 40

I am 40 nearly 41 and ttc baby no1. I fell pregnant for the first time in December but suffered a missed miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks in February. I've been trying ever since with no luck. I use Clearblue advanced fertility monitor. Take vitamin B, C and Co Q10 as well as pre conception tablets daily. Until lockdown I did weekly acupuncture. I guess I'm feeling low as af turned up today and I turn 41 very soon.

I am usually positive and hopeful. Trying to think what's for me won't go past me...

Looking for some buddies in the same boat or some over 40s who conceived naturally to give me hope and share their secret to success.

@sabtom your cycles need to be 25-35 days. So you should be fine.

Hi @sabtom no you wouldn't need to use opks. But I did both as it says it can take a couple of months to learn about you and this is my first month. It uses artificial intelligence so it learns as it goes. I would do both first month to see if both were predicting the same. However I got my first peak on clear blue opk the day Ava said I'd ovulated. So if I had to waited there was a chance I would have missed it. I got my Ava second hand off eBay for £160. I got the new model. There are two. I figured if it worked for someone else it might work for you me. They also give you an article each day to read and tells you any patterns

So you wouldn't need to use OPKs with this bracelet then @October1979? I guess I might have to wait till next cycle before I start using it, if I get it.

Viviennemary · 30/01/2021 19:33

It's very sad you had a miscarriage. However, you did get pregnant and that means you can most likely get pregnant again.

The tick next to the circle on the predicted ovulation day is confirmation after reading information over the next few days . If your data suggests it will be later/ earlier it shifts your green fertile week/ predicted ovulation day. It did that once for me by a day

Yes a dip suggests ovulation but a few days after it gives you a tick on a circle to confirm. You can see a diary view and a chart @sabtom. If you look at both my attached pictures you can see confirmed ovulation. The circle in the diary on the 16th and on the chart at the top. The 16th is my lowest dip before it goes up

@October1979 so does the Ava bracelet actually tell you when you will ovulate and if you have? I thought the reliability would be the same as getting a peak OPK?

October1979 · 30/01/2021 19:11

First month using Ava and it actually brought my fertile week and peak days a couple of days earlier than clear blue fertility monitor. It predicted the week before it happened @sabtom. Thanks @Catconfusion it's one test so will wait till the morning and do some more. Still sceptical as fertility monitor says not pregnant. Bit concerned it could be a chemical xx

@October1979 congratulations! If that doesn't convince me to get an Ava bracelet I don't know what will lol Thanks

Catconfusion · 30/01/2021 18:53

Oh wow @October1979 that's amazing news. Also a good line, I wouldn't say faint. I've got everything crossed for you this is it! xx

October1979 · 30/01/2021 17:37

Thanks everyone, trying not to get too excited in case it doesn't work out. We've been trying since mmc last February and nothing. Here's hoping it works out this time. If it does this Ava bracelet is magical.

Other news.... period still not arrived. This is 14dpo. Using my Ava temp is still rising. Although got not pregnant on my Clearblue digital monitor this morning. Started Googling how sensitive the tests were and they are 50 mlu. So not very sensitive. Did a first response this afternoon and sure I have a faint line. Very confused.

Hi @sabtom I had an 11 day luteal phase until I started taking vitamin b12 and vitamin d. It's been 13 days over last few months since I started taking it.

Catconfusion · 29/01/2021 11:14

Aww, so sorry @sabtom it’s good news about your luteal phase though. Mine is really long at 16 days which is frustrating during the 2ww but at least time for implantation. Good if 10 days plus! Xx

sabtom · 29/01/2021 09:50

Unfortunately AF arrived this morning Sad hey ho, back to CD1 but at least it looks like my LP is getting longer, last month was only a 23 day cycle, made it to 26 this time Smile

I'll be following this thread intently and I hope we all get our BFPs soon Thanks

Catconfusion · 29/01/2021 07:24

Aww @Littlemiss40andfabulous just rest rest rest! Good you’re feeling emotionally strong. These things can really throw you! I’m feeling ok too thanks.

My DH is off work this week so that’s really helped with looking after ds and getting some rest. I’m looking forward to trying again but a little scared it’ll happen again. Hopefully just a blip. Our bodies are very wise I think and these things as horrible but they are seem to form a function. Fertility can be heightened after so I hope we get some good news! Xx

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 28/01/2021 18:44

Thanks @Catconfusion

Emotionally not too bad - just waiting to try again next month now.

Physically I've felt a little lightheaded and weak this afternoon with the odd abdominal cramp, so going to take it easy tonight I think.

How are you doing?

XxX

Catconfusion · 28/01/2021 18:17

How are you doing @Littlemiss40andfabulous ? What a rollercoaster!? I was really upset at first but now I’m feeling a lot more optimistic. Xx

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 28/01/2021 17:28

Wishing you all the best @sabtom x

Catconfusion · 28/01/2021 15:37

Aww fingers crossed @sabtom remember implantation can cause a dip before temp goes up. I had a hormonal headache in early pregnancy. I guess just see what tomorrow brings. Good luck! Xx

sabtom · 28/01/2021 12:37

Update: So this morning's temp went back down again to 36.60. AF should be due today (my LP is usually 11/12 days) it's 13dpo today. No symptoms really just a niggling headache that I woke up with. If AF doesn't show up tomorrow then I'll test 🤞🏻
