OPKs - am I being too impatient?

Hi

I'm trying to understand if there is a problem with me, with the OPKs I am using, or if my experience is totally normal!

Bit of background info - I'm on cycle 3 of TTC. Came off the pill start of July, had a 33 day cycle, a 40 day cycle and now I'm on day 17 of my current cycle. This is the first month I'm tracking using OPKs.

My flo app tells me I'm due to ovulate in 2 days but I haven't had the progression on my OPKs I would expect. If anything, my LH level seems to have gone down since I started testing on CD10. Is this normal or should I expect a steady rise until ovulation day?

I'm using the cheapest OPKs I could find (Wilko own brand) so I wondered if maybe they're not working properly rather than it being a problem with me?

Picture attached. I'd appreciate any advice Smile

Hope you all get positives soon! Is everyone trying for baby no 1?

@eloiseislost thanks - just got to keep hoping! I'm trying to temp this month for the 1st time but getting weird results. I think it's because I always wake up before my alarm, so lying awake for half an hour makes my temp go up maybe? Confused

@NoCallerID no I only did one OPK on EWCM day. I assumed it would be the same as last month when my surge lasted for a day and a half but I will definitely take your advice next month!

@Hufflypuf are you doing several OPKs throughout the day of your EWCM? If I notice FM I do them every time I go to the loo. Otherwise it's so easy to miss a surge... mine can be really low and then suddenly go high.

eloiseislost · 04/11/2020 14:08

@Hufflypuf I feel your pain, but try not to let it get to you. LH surge looks different for every woman. I go from 0 to positive in a matter of hours! It's very frustrating but all you can do is keep testing.
Are you taking your temperature?

@Hufflypuf agreed! All we can do is hope x

Hufflypuf · 04/11/2020 13:28

I am so fed up of all this now. I have done 5 OPKs this month and got a ZERO on all of them - how is that even possible? I had lots of EWCM a few days ago too but apparently I'm not even close to ovulating Sad

Last month I peaked at CD15. This month, not even a hint that it's rising. Plenty of discharge though (sorry TMI), wish I knew what was going on

The easy@home aren't too bad so far. For the cost they seem to do the job. I'm more confident knowing when I ovulate with them than without. Plus, they have a money back guarantee after so many cycles which is reassuring. The PreMom app which goes with the is straightforward to use too x

Iloveoreos · 28/10/2020 13:38

@kiki275
Lmao at biscuit comment 😂made me smile for real. In my defense I have not had oreos in months.maybe an Oreo milkshake in August but thats about it.
Back to the question, I was using onestep along with Wondfu and wondfu gave results much quicker . Detected ovulation with it. Although control line can look faded sometimes . How is easy at home going?

Kiki275 · 28/10/2020 13:26

@Iloveoreos I use the Easy@home ones (link a few posts below). How are you finding them.
Think I'm going to have to disagree on your ultimate biscuit choice though 😂 x

Iloveoreos · 28/10/2020 11:46

Which brand do u all use. I use wondfu

Kiki275 · 28/10/2020 09:49

@Hufflypuf shifts are a nightmare, glad I don't do them any more. At least having been through one cycle, I know I can get away with doing one a day for a bit longer, then can do two or three closer to the estimated Ov date. Premom for some reason is predicting me to ovulate on CD11 when it was CD16 last time. I'm hoping it'll be somewhere in the middle x

Hufflypuf · 27/10/2020 15:43

Hey @Kiki275

Yep, I'm on day 9 now, AF finished 2 days ago so I'm ready to start doing OPKs again from tomorrow.

I know what you mean about it being a chore! My work pattern varies and I found it really awkward last month trying to test while I was at work. I really hope I get a BFP soon as I'm starting to worry there's something wrong with me!

@Hufflypuf all set for another cycle? I'm not nearly as excited as I was last month. TTC is such a chore x

Kiki275 · 20/10/2020 19:44

@mummyjojo19 I'm using these with the PreMom app.

50 x Ovulation Test Strips Fertility Tests Ovulation Predictor Kit Easy@Home, Powered by Premom Ovulation Predictor iOS and Android App, 50 LH Strips https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F3IH58Y/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_w9YJFbRJFT51S

mummyjojo19 · 20/10/2020 19:20

Ladies can I ask which tests your using and which app you use please. I have been trying for 2 years and still nothing xx

Kiki275 · 20/10/2020 14:02

@Hufflypuf I'm very tempted to do the same. Hope they give you the best result 🤞 x

Hufflypuf · 20/10/2020 12:30

@Kiki275 definitely here for me too Sad. Going into my 4th month now. I've just ordered fertility lube, a BBT thermometer and conception vitamins from Amazon - I have to feel like I'm doing something to help or I will go mad!

Kiki275 · 20/10/2020 07:21

@Hufflypuff AF has definitely arrived. Keeping fingers crossed for you x

Kiki275 · 19/10/2020 16:43

Mother Nature probably think she's being hilarious 😭

Hufflypuf · 19/10/2020 16:21

How weird - exactly the same! Was there this morning, gone at lunch and now just noticed it again. If its AF it means I've only had 10 days between ovulation and the start of my next cycle which isn't good Confused

OP posts:
Kiki275 · 19/10/2020 15:18

Just been to loo and there's a brown discharge when I wipe which I get directly before AF starts. I'm cycle day 24 but only 8 DPO so not a clue what's going on ☹️ x

Hufflypuf · 19/10/2020 14:54

@Kiki275 Same! I think if this spotting doesn't turn into anything in a few days I might take a test.

OP posts:
Kiki275 · 19/10/2020 14:04

@Hufflypuf I'm 8 DPO and totally symptom spotting. AF due on/around Saturday but I have a couple of tests sat in my bathroom cabinet calling to me x

Bells3032 · 19/10/2020 13:51

@Hufflypuf I have on clear blue but not the cheapies. no idea if that means I am ovulating or my LH hormones are just coming up to a natural level post coil
