OPKs - am I being too impatient?

Hi

I'm trying to understand if there is a problem with me, with the OPKs I am using, or if my experience is totally normal!

Bit of background info - I'm on cycle 3 of TTC. Came off the pill start of July, had a 33 day cycle, a 40 day cycle and now I'm on day 17 of my current cycle. This is the first month I'm tracking using OPKs.

My flo app tells me I'm due to ovulate in 2 days but I haven't had the progression on my OPKs I would expect. If anything, my LH level seems to have gone down since I started testing on CD10. Is this normal or should I expect a steady rise until ovulation day?

I'm using the cheapest OPKs I could find (Wilko own brand) so I wondered if maybe they're not working properly rather than it being a problem with me?

Picture attached. I'd appreciate any advice Smile

@Hufflypuf bodies are just weird. I think they do it to deliberately keep us in a constant state of worry 🙄. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly from here and you get THE BEST Xmas news x

Hufflypuf · 09/12/2020 10:17

Well I had 4 days of spotting before AF, so if I count that as the start of my cycle then CD 23. If I go from the 1st day of full flow then CD 19 Confused

@Hufflypuf crikey, what CD does that make you?x

Hufflypuf · 09/12/2020 08:26

@Kiki275 Wahooo I got my peak this morning - thought it was never coming!!!

@Hufflypuf there's nothing usual about any of my cycles, glad I actually started doing these. 🤞we get those BFPs this time, although a tiny part of me was looking forward to a Xmas I could drink at x

Hufflypuf · 02/12/2020 09:37

Oh that looks good and your temp has spiked as well which is a good sign!

I am on CD16 and usually ovulate on CD20, I haven't had my peak yet x

@Hufflypuf my tests were very confusing yesterday but think I peaked in the night. Then my son decided to wake early which may have thrown my temp out. Oh well, I'll just keep DTD and see what happens. How are you getting on?x

@Hufflypuf I think this might be my 6th cycle of actively trying. My cycles still haven't settled but at least my luteal was 10 days last time, which was much more preferable to the previous 8/9s x

Hufflypuf · 28/11/2020 10:56

In the back of mind I know I'm going to get my period early again as my luteal phase has only been 10 days the last 2 months. But might as well try and do everything I can just in case. What month are you on now?

@Hufflypuf hope they work out. I saw they had them in Costco if that works out cheaper? Either that or think of all the Boots points you'll get 😂.
I've ordered more easy@home ones as I can't justify ClearBlue just yet. DH is on vitamins and no drink mon-thurs, so he can do his bit too x

Hufflypuf · 28/11/2020 10:36

Hi @Kiki275. I am using clearblue digital ovulation tests this time. Expensive but hopefully worth it! I have 3 friends who swear by them after trying to get pregnant for years. I'm expecting to ovulate in around a weeks time.

Apart from that I'm going to try and DTD everyday during ovulation week and lie with a pillow under my bum for a while instead of rushing up straight after Grin

@Hufflypuf another cycle underway for me. I'm BBTing too this time. How are you getting on?x

Hufflypuf · 19/11/2020 16:53

I know the feeling - by the middle of conception week I was following DH around like a lost puppy and he had to tell me to back off Grin

I'm going to try and not wear my husband out too early 😂😂

Hufflypuf · 19/11/2020 15:17

I'm not getting my hopes up. I think I'm going to wait til I get to 6 months (this is my 5th) and then ask the Dr for some blood tests. I don't want to put all my effort into trying then find there is something medically wrong.

Are you trying anything different this month? X

OP posts:
Kiki275 · 19/11/2020 15:04

@Hufflypuf not sure what that means but I hope it doesn't sound like you're completely out yet?? I started a few days ago so on with another cycle for me x

Hufflypuf · 19/11/2020 13:48

No worries - I think AF has started today Sad

I was so hopeful after I posted this as my temps shot up and stayed high for 10 days and I had sore boobs and very light spotting around implantation time. But then I went to the loo this morning and had a gush of blood (not sure how else to describe it!). Although I've been twice since and nothing is there when I wipe! Confused

I think temping has made me feel more in control this month, I would recommend.

Any luck for you? Hope this is your month! X

@Hufflypuf so sorry I didn't respond. How are you getting on? I've never tracked BBT but think I might start x

Hufflypuf · 10/11/2020 07:30

Some advice needed please! Do you think it looks like I've ovulated from my BBT chart?

I'm ignoring the 1st week as I was still getting the hang of temping so readings were all over the place! But looking at this my temp has slowly risen since ovulation - not sure if it's enough of a spike though? Confused

Hufflypuf · 07/11/2020 11:09

@Kiki275 snap Grin I swear we have identical cycles!

Finally got my peak somewhere in the early hours of yesterday. Now just to wait and see how long my luteal phase is x

Kiki275 · 05/11/2020 17:08

Only a few months and the same for the twins. My periods were completely regular each time though which was half the battle. I only needed to DTD twice to conceive the boys, it was fab x

Hufflypuf · 05/11/2020 15:27

Sorry to hear about your twins @Kiki275. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to conceive baby no 1?

OP posts:
Kiki275 · 05/11/2020 13:54

It would be my third pregnancy, 2nd surviving child and 4th baby (I lost twins back in March at 22wks) 😊

Finally starting to rise 🥳 x
