Firstly i must say I am so grateful to have one healthy baby boy, and secondly I am very grateful I conceived him within a month of trying, and do feel so sorry for those who spend ages trying or who cannot conceive.
However, I have been trying for 2 months now and still no baby, just started another period.
Is this just normal? We try every other night all month long as soon as my period ends so I feel like it should've worked by now!
I am still breastfeeding my 1 year so could this hinder it even though I'm having periods?
Am I just naive to how long it takes to make a baby after getting lucky and having my first so quickly?

2 months is not very long OP, but if you are breastfeeding it is possible to have periods without ovulation for a while, you may want to get some OPKs to check that you are actually ovulating each month

Ahhhhhh I am so glad to see this post.

I'm in the exact same boat 😞 very happy to have one very beautiful and happy boy who I conceived within 1 month but now TCC with baby 2 and just started my period... Feel weird about it. I know babies don't necessarily come quickly but my only other experience with baby 1 and I was pregnant straight away which makes it hard psychologically.

Been trying for second for three years. First one took 2 months. It can take upto 12 months for a normal couple with no issues

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 25/09/2020 22:36

2 months 😂 I'm 19 weeks pregnant with my second after TTC for 5.5 YEARS, and it only took one month with my first....!

Bernardstolemywatch · 25/09/2020 22:26

2 months?? Is that a typo?
It’s quite normal for healthy couples to take up to and beyond 12 months to conceive.

Nellle · 25/09/2020 22:22

On cycle 13 of TTC over here! If there is one thing I wish I could tell myself a year ago : obsess less. It definitely hasn't helped.

Chanel05 · 25/09/2020 22:20

Definitely need to relax. It took me 8 months twice to conceive and myself and dh have very good fertility. It's just down to luck. Enjoy trying!

2 months basically means you’ve had 2 go’s at getting pregnant. You know that many many women have difficulty conceiving yet you ask if this is normal??? Trust me, it’s much more normal than you think.

DiscombobulatedAf · 25/09/2020 22:18

There’s absolutely no need for that @BigPlanes

BigPlanes · 25/09/2020 22:15

Offs 2 months? Kindly get a grip.

Lazypuppy · 25/09/2020 22:15

OP, theres no point having sex that often, your main fertile window is about a week long max around your ovulation.

There can be problems with sperm and too much sex

Hi, it is normal to take completely healthy parents up to 12 months to conceive - even if they fell on first time previously. I believe the average is 3-6 months.

I really wouldn't worry, calm down, relax and enjoy trying! It could take a year.

There is also such a thing as unexplained secondary infertility but that's only diagnosed after 12m of trying and all the tests coming back inconclusive, so I really wouldn't worry about that!

Also it's an old wives tale that bf hinders conception and is generally advised now not to rely on BF as a contraceptive method as it's so unreliable. However, I kind of think there may be an element of truth in it to have become an "old wives tale". My friend was trying for over 12m but the doctor wouldn't investigate as she was still breastfeeding!

It took me 6m the first time (doing it at all the right times etc), I lost that pregnancy, then 3m mater fell pregnant with DD.

Relax and enjoy, baby number 2 will come when good and ready! Best of luck xxx

I think three months is still well within the normal range. Conceiving the first month is more unusual I think. I imagine bf doesn't help, but there is no cause for concern. That said, I conceived both mine first time but had inconclusive tests with the second one and thought they were negative. I did think that I really couldn't handle months of two-week waits, so I understand your impatienceSmile

Essentially you were lucky to get pregnant that quickly the first time round and that doesn't mean it'll be as quick second time round. Especially if you're breast feeding.

Two months is no time at all, depending on your age the average can be much longer. Eg I'm 32 and the average is 6 months, but that obviously means there's lots of women for whom it takes even longer.
