TTC #1, cycle 13 and fed up! Whose with me?

Hello. So AF arrived yesterday which means I'm officially on cycle 13 of TTC. I'm a healthy 28 year old with husband whose 33. We've had 2 chemical pregnancies in the time we've been actively trying. We are just waiting on our dates for blood tests and SA for husband.

Needless to say I'm bloody fed up! Had 3 friends announce pregnancy news in the last week, and one friend is due in 4 weeks. TTC is definitely starting to take its toll on both of us and the realisation that something may be wrong is starting to sink in.
Who else is having similar? Please feel free to share/rant!

@dogmam I listen to their podcast too, really informative and funny isn't it. They did a sperm segment before which was helpful for us. I got Dh to listen to it!

dogmam · 29/09/2020 21:28

Hi!

@lovesfood1987 I was super nervous about ringing the GP. Even just asking the receptionist for am appointment about 'fertility' made me ill! I think for me, it kind of solidified that we are actually struggling with ttc and made it seem officially real, so didn't want to take the plunge and speak to a doctor, but actually I feel so much better after talking to her and looking forward to getting my bloods done. I think most initial consultations are over the phone rather than face to face, if that helps you feel less nervous?

@nellle omg yes, my dog is amazing and a good distraction on the down days. My first baby ha!

I'm listening to a really good podcast, called BFN. I'd really recommend them. Not everything relevant as a lot of talk about ivf etc but theve been helpful when I'm feeling sad about everything as they're quite funny. Worth a listen on the daily dog walks anyway! Hope everyone's ok x

notyetamumbuttrying · 29/09/2020 21:02

@CurbsideProphet ah ok, so you're moving forward at least then.
My cycles range from 24-26 days but they've always been that way so not a worry for me. Hopefully they can resolve that! Keep us posted on what they say. We've been referred to a fertility clinic as Dh has male factor. No idea how long the wait is tho...we're gonna get a repeat SA in Nov and have agreed that if it's not improved that we'll go private in dec. So it's just the countdown to nov now!

CurbsideProphet · 29/09/2020 20:56

@notyetamumbuttrying yes back to gynae. The first one was quite dismissive and rude in my phone appointment, but I did get a quick scan which confirmed everything looks good apart from a fibroid.
My cycles have dropped to 24 days which is so short for me. I hope that it is something relatively easy to resolve 😬

lucyrp · 29/09/2020 20:44

@CurbsideProphet you hit the nail on the head!🙈

@notyetamumbuttrying 💗💗

notyetamumbuttrying · 29/09/2020 20:35

Ah ok so will you be referred then @CurbsideProphet?

@lucyrp sensible option! 😘

CurbsideProphet · 29/09/2020 19:34

@lucyrp ah I'm sorry someone has upset you 💐 Sometimes posters think they are being helpful and sometimes they know they're being harsh, but they just like being superior.

@notyetamumbuttrying my GP and I have both wondered if my progesterone drops very suddenly instead of staying up. She wouldn't really be drawn on the subject (understandably as it's not her area of expertise). That seems most likely to start off with. I think / hope.

lucyrp · 29/09/2020 19:15

@notyetamumbuttrying ahaha no it's okay I'm just not going to reply to their comments 🙈😂

notyetamumbuttrying · 29/09/2020 17:18

You defo should then hun @lucyrp want me to have words with someone?! 🥊 don't want you getting upset by ppl on here, that's not nice at all! X

lucyrp · 29/09/2020 13:27

@notyetamumbuttrying I think I may take a few days off mumsnet as I'm getting very irritable with certain comments on different threads and it's all getting a bit much for me unfortunately and I'm not one to not reply 🤣 I hope so, I'm worried as I don't really want to have to take any drugs or anything like that to mess with my body even more so hoping there is a simple answer or solution

notyetamumbuttrying · 29/09/2020 13:02

Did she suggest how to fix that? @CurbsideProphet or if that could be the cause then?
@lucyrp aww Lucy darlin, you'll get there. I'm so certain of it! Let's hope the correct bloods help guide the docs in the right direction!

lucyrp · 29/09/2020 11:05

@CurbsideProphet yeah I'm in month 14 now of TTC 😭

CurbsideProphet · 29/09/2020 11:01

@lucyrp I'm really sorry you're in the same position. Must be very difficult seeing your friend pregnant. I can't believe 8 months have passed since my CP and we're still trying. It will be 12 months TTC next week.

CurbsideProphet · 29/09/2020 10:43

@notyetamumbuttrying yes I feel like my body knows to get pregnant, but something is preventing proper implantation. I've spoken to a different GP recently and she suggested I've maybe got a hormonal imbalance.

lucyrp · 29/09/2020 10:42

@CurbsideProphet don't worry I know how you feel I got pregnant and had a chemical in may but my best friend was 8 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy and I was so excited then when I lost mine I was like oh well don't worry you'll definitely be pregnant again before she's due. She's due in November and I'm still not pregnant..

CurbsideProphet · 29/09/2020 10:41

Thank you @Theawkwardblonde 💐
I feel a bit like I shouldn't feel so sad when women have late miscarriages and still births. The gynaecologist I had a phone appointment with was quite dismissive of it 😔 I'm being referred back into Gynaecology. We have that choose and book herr. I chose the private option because the wait time was shorter, which is how I had a scan so quick. This time I need to choose the main hospital.

Theawkwardblonde · 29/09/2020 09:38

@Cha0907 hello! I wouldn't worry too much about the weight-my bmi is over despite me physically being in the best shape I've been and fittest since my teens. I mentioned that to my gp he said not to worry 😊 yes I'm with you they conceiving by Christmas would be nice.

@dogmam hello! Great name-I'm a dog mam too and anticipate that's all I'll be at this rate 😂😂 you're in good company here.

@LovesFood1987 I still drink caffeine and alcohol. All my friends who conceived have drank. I don't have much but I do look forward to my wine on a weekend! Kudos to you for keeping that up though-far greater will power than I 😊

@Nellle yes I'm not one for dwelling on things or discussing them but it's good to have an outlet.

@CurbsideProphet that's awful-hope you get through this week okay.

@Theawkwardblonde we will only hit the 12 month mark in October, though it's approx 15 cycles now that AF shows every 23/24 days. I think that's why SA hasn't been mentioned yet. The focus has been on possible gynae issues with me to get around the strict 12 month mark here.

This is the week I would have been due if my chemical pregnancy at new year had been successful. I got through the past 8 months thinking that at least I would be pregnant by now. It's a bitter bill to swallow, especially because AF started yesterday. Of all the days and weeks in the year to have AF it has to be now 😩

Nellle · 29/09/2020 06:37

@theawkwardblonde Yes, it's nice to have a place for people in your position. I'm not one for competitive misery and I know that feelings of suffering are absolute, but it really makes a difference for me that this is a place for people trying to conceive #1. I know any conception troubles are hard, but all of us have all this love to give and no where to put it until we become mums 😔🥰 You're so right about FRER as well, so pricey and they don't actually do anything for me anyway! When they are negative i I just tell myself "well it's early, I'll just keep testing" Pointless! 🤦‍♀️ By the way, my bloods came back 3 days after the day 21 test, so very quick!

@lucyrp Oh, I know! Men and their precious sperm! Mine is dragging his heels too. I'm really going to try to get him to open up about it, because I reckon we can bond over the uniquely lonely feeling of TTC. As a woman or man, it's awful worrying your bits don't work! That sounds so frustrating re your cycle! Must be so hard to find ovulation? Wishing you ALL the luck.

@monday55 I think I'm going to try to hold on this time. When I was pregnant last, I wasn't expecting it, but BAM on AF due date, my boobs were something else and I knew. So, I might look out for symptoms before allowing myself to do anything. Although, why I'd want it to be anything like my previous pregnancy I don't know...

@Cha0907 Hello! And welcome! Sorry you've found yourself here, but you are among similar ladies 🥰 I would totally push it with the doctors - you deserve investigations. Tell them you are working to lose weight but need the investigations as well. You have the same right to become a mum as anyone else, and if anything you should be having more support from your docs through this journey. Don't let them dismiss you. 2 years ago when I got pregnant I was 4 stone heavier and a smoker. Now I can't conceive. Don't let them fob you off xxx

@dogmam Hi! Thank god for dogs, eh?! I agree, I couldn't face up to going to the doctor's for ages, but it was fine and results so quick! @lovesfood1987 Go for it! Wishing you all the luck and hope your GP is a good one.

@LS2020 Wow! I wish I had your resolve 😅😆

Happy week everyone. How amazing would it be if someone gets a BFP this month ♥️🤞

lucyrp · 28/09/2020 21:06

@LovesFood1987 ah I thought that might be the case, I personally don't do any of the no caffeine or no alcohol I guess it's personal preference!

LovesFood1987 · 28/09/2020 21:03

@lucyrp just in case it helps with TCC I guess... do you think it's unnecessary to not drink? Just wondering what other ladies are doing 🙂 I always drink when I'm on my period... Trying to make cheer myself up I guess!

lucyrp · 28/09/2020 20:55

@LovesFood1987 how come you don't drink if you don't mind me asking??

LovesFood1987 · 28/09/2020 20:34

Good luck to everyone this week 😊 fingers crossed for some good news!

Very heartened to hear about GP being understanding, I'm scared of going to the GP about it 😞 I'm also worried about a huge back log of people because of covid so long delays to get any fertility tests done.

Any tips for "forgetting" about trying for a baby very welcome... It's impossible to forget! Every time I turn down alcohol it's a reminder 😞 every night when I take my pregnancy supplement it's a reminder too 😞

LS2020 · 28/09/2020 18:32

@Monday55 yeah deffo give them a nudge. Honestly I think mine liked having something different to do and was very helpful on the call. Would get it started as first test Is day 21 so want enough time to have a GP call and then still be able to get in with the nurse ☺️

@Nellle I’m a harderned only after AF tester - no idea how I do it but saved me a lot of money 😂

@Cha0907 my BMI is 30 and they were really helpful with me and barely mentioned. Glad you had a chilled out weekend!

@Theawkwardblonde I think mine took about a week to get back if that helps

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/09/2020 18:31

@dogmam I'm glad you got a good gp, good luck with the results! 🤞🏾

@Cha0907 id still go docs anyway. I'm probably on the overweight end but don't look it cos I'm tall and curvy. And with phone appointments only they can't weigh you anyway! Always good to lose weight but I'd still get investigations underway as they need to tie in with your cycle.
