@Firevie I think the flashing smile is a detection of oestrogen first which is then soon followed by LH, which in turn activates the static smile. Your cheap OPKs only detect LH, so that’s why they are still light. 😊 the LH comes quite soon after the oestrogen. 👍

Firevie · 25/09/2020 15:41

@HappyVibes as our resident cbd expert, I just did a cheapie OPKS this afternoon but that’s still quite low. Yet I had my flashing smiley this morning on cbd. I’m so confused how it can be so different on OPKS and cbd 🙈🤪 xxx

HappyVibes · 25/09/2020 12:17

I think we sometimes need that hun...I had that with my last AF arrival & since I let myself go through those emotions and take a step back, I have felt much better in myself since. Focussed on me and husband getting back to ‘us’ and not the ‘TTC is’ and it’s been amazing! Just a huge lift of our shoulders. I’m gunna come off here too again and just dip in and out on a weekend xxxxx

CasperFlamingo · 25/09/2020 12:06

@HappyVibes thanks for the advice. I got flashy smileys first and then a solid. I've got separate OPKs as well but didn't take them after the MC. I'm going to investigate using them this next cycle alongside CB, as I want to try and get a proper handle on where exactly I'm ovulating.

Just feeling a bit blue this time round for some reason.

HappyVibes · 25/09/2020 11:57

Hi @CasperFlamingo it is hard when af arrives, it’s such an emotional rollercoaster.

It is definitely good news that your cycles seem to be normalising again so that’s good that you’re taking that as a positive because it for sure is a positive.

With the smiley - did you get just a solid smiley or flashies first? If you see above, for my cycle this month I’ve done CB and OPK - which I am so grateful of, as my CB detected peak 20th, but OPK detected peak 24th so I could well have missed my window if I went off just my CBD.

Xxx

CasperFlamingo · 25/09/2020 11:22

I haven't been around for a while. I found I was getting obsessive but also not able to keep up with the fast flow of comments coming through. As a secondary teacher, this has been even worse since school began!

Anyway. My update is as follows. So MC w/c 29th Jun, roughly 8 weeks. Didn't ovulate at all afterwards. Had very very very light bleeding around approximate time I would have expected AF around 23-27th July. Began taking regular LH tests after AF to see if I could track and nothing happened so almost gave up testing - then experienced lots of CM so tested again and hit high ovulation on 12th August but never a peak. DTD a lot just in case, but AF showed up on 27th Aug and stayed for longer than usual. Did LH kits again afterwards and this time got a solid smiley on the 10th Sep. DTD loads. Sadly AF has returned again.

So basically feeling happy that AF seems to be more or less back to normal, but also really sad that despite DTD a lot, sometimes twice a day, that we haven't had a positive yet. Trying to stay positive, but it's hard. Don't know what to do next if I'm honest.

notalwaysalondoner · 25/09/2020 10:00

Hi all, my bleeding from my early miscarriage which started on Sunday seems to be stopping now. We are having sperm tests next Wednesday so I hope I don't ovulate before then as DH needs to not DTD for 3 days beforehand. I'll start the CBD on Sunday. Really hope we catch in the next few months and don't have recurrent miscarriage as this MC was my second...

Firevie · 25/09/2020 09:24

Yay either way you’re closer to your BFP now! Yes I like the certainty of cbd but I do like the progression on the cheap OPKS as my premom app gives me the ratios lol. I’m doing cbd in the morning with FMU and OPKS at 3.30pm to be covered lol. But I will just Dtd for an entire week now lol October is my birthday and I’ve set my heart on getting the bestest birthday gift in form of a BFP xxxx

HappyVibes · 25/09/2020 09:13

@Firevie Amazing! I love the CBD so so clear &just minimises interpretation.

With me, well I’m not 100% this month with my CBD picking up a peak on 20th, but then OPK picking up my peak on 24th (yesterday). So I could be in TWW right now, or I could just be entering it ha who knows? At least the uncertainty will help me wait out a little with testing. I’m gunna do another OPK in an hour just to double check my levels. Xxxxx

Firevie · 25/09/2020 08:48

@HappyVibes ah thank you!! Just done that! Whoop! Where are you in your cycle? You must be moving into your TWW soon right? Xxx

HappyVibes · 25/09/2020 08:22

Morning @Firevie On FF...if you go to test and devices, there’s an option for Monitor/Advanced OPK - a flashing smiley is marked as a ‘High’ and then when you get your static, Mark that on FF as your ‘Peak’. Woohoo on the flashie....enjoy girl xxxxx

Firevie · 25/09/2020 08:00

Morning ladies! Quick update from me - just had my flashing smiley on my cbd. So have just DtD. So now that I have a flashing smiley do I record it as poi’s it I’ve or negative on my FErtiliry Friend app? Sorry I’m a cbd novice so don’t know xxx

Sallyjo27 · 24/09/2020 20:23

@HappyVibes the ultrasound, AMH, blood clotting, the antibody test and we are thinking of having Karyotyping as well 😩🙈. We’ve only just started the investigations. We’ve had a consultation and are going down for the tests on the 26th October. I’m scared to get a BFP before the tests but really want to start trying again too 😩🙈
I hope you get the results your wishing for! I’m hoping mine say there is something wrong so that we can “fix” it, almost like it’ll give us a reason for our losses xx

HappyVibes · 24/09/2020 20:16

What test have you got that you’re holding off for with TTC hun @Sallyjo27? We are still TTC at the moment and I still have bloods due 1st October & scan 5th October. I’m going to delay the scan until we know for sure where we are at after TWW as I don’t feel comfortable having the scan if I am potentially pregnant.

Oh haha I’ve not heard of that test at all. Interesting!! I’m looking forward to knowing all our results and speaking with the consultant again Xxx

Sallyjo27 · 24/09/2020 20:11

@HappyVibes haha I’ve had that test as well 😂 the one I was thinking of was Anti-Cardiolipin, “it’s for antiphospholipid syndrome APS is an autoimmune disorder that produce anticardiolipin antibodies. These antibodies interfere with the blood clotting process, which can result in inappropriate or excessive clotting” i thought I’d best google to make sure I wasn’t getting it wrong 😂 I’m really tempted to start ttc again this month but haven’t have the tests yet (26th Oct)so know we need to hold off unfortunately 😩xx

HerringGull · 24/09/2020 19:34

Thank you @susiebluebell 😊 Hope you're doing ok too x

HappyVibes · 24/09/2020 19:04

@Sallyjo27 that’s where we are upto too with our tests etc. Our of curiosity what is the antibody testing? I’ve just got the covid antibody test in my head & cant think of anything else that you may mean TTC wise ha xx

HappyVibes · 24/09/2020 19:02

Oh really @MinnieMouse4 I’ve never heard of doing it 5days after peak. I think we will be well worn out by then, so definitely will do today & tomorrow...maybe Saturday morning if we can cope haha. Xxxx

susiebluebell · 24/09/2020 18:47

@HerringGull

Can I join please? Had an mc a couple of months ago and this is the first cycle TTC since then. 9 DPO at the moment, but won't test until I'm late. Busy symptom spotting - I'm terrible for that! Grin
Hi @HerringGull and welcome, though sorry for the reason you've joined 😕 Hoping all goes well for you in the coming weeks and months x
Sallyjo27 · 24/09/2020 18:10

@notalwaysalondoner I’m so sorry for your losses. I’ve had 2 MMC at 7w4d- found at 9 weeks and 8w1d found at 8w5d and a CP too. So far through my GP I’ve had my thyroid and 21 day progesterone tested and they have both come back fine. I’m having a scan, AMH bloods and sperm test for DH too. I think this is the normal tests they do first. The consultant said about blood clotting tests (she’ll do it if I can’t get it on NHS) and said that If we want Karyotyping it’s up to us but she thinks at this stage we don’t need it, I’m going to ask if I can have the antibody test as well just to check xx

MinnieMouse4 · 24/09/2020 18:02

@HappyVibes on the plan I’m following this month, once I get a positive OPK I should DTD 3 days in a row, miss a day then DTD again for one day! Xx

HappyVibes · 24/09/2020 17:56

Hahaha @CakeAndPreggers! Thank you. Today & tomorrow it is. We’ve got 4 in the bag already, ha, so fingers crossed xxx

CakeAndPreggers · 24/09/2020 17:23

@HappyVibes

Hi ladies...with the cheapie OPKs, when you get a peak LH surge...how many days after the surge do you DTD? Xxxx
Now. Go DTD now. And tonight. And tomorrow morning. And tomorrow lunchtime. Now now now! And then continue until you are both so exhausted and need to sleep for a bit. Good luck!
Runnergirl1 · 24/09/2020 16:30

@HappyVibes I think it’s the day of peak and the next two x

notalwaysalondoner · 24/09/2020 16:30

@Sallyjo27 and @familybythesea we have our first private appointment next week (TTC for one year, two miscarriages). We originally booked it for TTC though as we’d only had one pregnancy in a whole year until this months early miscarriage, and so they still want us to do the standard tests for sperm and AMH plus a scan. Then if we need miscarriage tests we will do later - feels a bit of a waste of time to me as we’ve conceived twice but on the other hand I guess it’s good to understand if there are major issues with sperm as that could cause miscarriage if they are chromosomal, and the scan may obviously show something if there’s a physical issue. I’ll push for progesterone tests though, did you guys do any other tests? My miscarriages were a bit different - one blighted ovum identified at 8+5, the second was a very early chemical/early miscarriage at 4+5.
