@TheDaydreamBelievers Omg! 😀😀 congratulations, amazing news!!
Of course, stick around, but they're amazing lines!!

Welcome to @MummytoNoah2 and @GlassLily xx

MintGreenLife · 21/09/2020 09:17

Can I ask your advice please everyone? I'm about to fill in an online form for the docs to ask for some tests, how should I go about it to make sure they don't fob me off?!

MintGreenLife · 21/09/2020 09:14

@MummytoNoah2 welcome :) I second what others have said - if you're not temping it's hard to know if you're actually ovulating. I'm 6 months off the pill now and I think I may have only ovulated once in my four cycles! Last cycle I had EWCM for a full two weeks! So my body really gave it a good go but just didn't quite get there. It's super frustrating, but hopefully will sort itself out after time. Would suggest temping as then it will give you a clearer picture :)

MintGreenLife · 21/09/2020 09:12

@TheDaydreamBelievers eeeekk!! So excited for you! That's amazing, gives me hope that it's possible even with nonsense cycles post pill! Of course stick around with us for a bit! Totally get why you'd be worried but those are really strong positives, congrats! Told you that 'spotting' might be something :D xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 08:58

Haha @MummytoNoah2 - this was literally the second thing my husband said after I told him this morning "good job swimmers!". Even the enlightened ones still are chuffed their sperm works.

@TheDaydreamBelievers @GlassLily @Juno231

thank you so much!

I had some bloods done in July & the doctor said they all came back normal. I’ve been on to her again & she said she’s confused & will speak to fertility clinic although said wait time is ages.

I’m very lucky to have a gorgeous little boy who was 2 in June. I’m 38 so keep hearing the “tick tock” of the clock & fed up of everyone asking “when you having another?”

I’ve been on the pill since I was 16, came off it & fell pregnant cycle one with Noah (very lucky although my hubby thinks he just has super swimmers - don’t they all !!!)

I don’t temp but I’m thinking I should start! I think you’re right - my body is trying but not quite there!! I’ll get onto amazon!! In the meantime, will keep doing lots of BD!! Thanks ladies!! Good luck to everyone! 💕 xxx

TheHotelCalifornia · 21/09/2020 08:49

lawandgin · 21/09/2020 08:45

@TheDaydreamBelievers Congratulations!!! Our first BFP 😊 xx

Sarahp2308 · 21/09/2020 08:44

Those are pretty strong positives @TheDaydreamBelievers please do stick around I’m sure we all want to follow you through your pregnancy...so happy for you 😀

Sarahp2308 · 21/09/2020 08:42

Yay @TheDaydreamBelievers congratulations 🎉

@GlassLily I’m in a similar situation not sure if I am ovulating or not...how are you finding the RHR I’ve been trying to get my head around it

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 08:40

@Juno231 @Kay00 yes, cycle 2 but cycle 1 was 141 days and cycle 2 was 47 days until BFP in the e d!

I'm so excited but also doesnt feel real and I'm a bit paranoid it wont stick. Literally 0 symptoms so far. If its okay with you gals I might stick around here for a bit until I feel confident that its progressing! So far done the FRER and 2 One Steps just in case my eyes are deceiving me!

@TheDaydreamBelievers OMG!!!!! hoe exciting! Congratulations!!!! Grin!

Juno231 · 21/09/2020 08:28

@TheDaydreamBelievers Omg congratulations!! You lucky girl! What was that, cycle 2 in the end?

@MummytoNoah2 the only way you could get any clarity on your ovulation is through temping. The LH/EWCM route will only show you your body is trying to, not that it has succeeded.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 08:07

Guys... I took a test this morning...

13/14DPO.

The right is a FRER, the left a cheap One Step.

@MummytoNoah2 hopefully that will settle down before long and is just your hormones being a bit confused from the pill! Mine certainly seem a bit odd still after 6 months. And hey - even if it does turn out to be longer term cycle disruption (which it probably won't) - it still doesn't mean you won't conceive. I have a friend whose cycle is all over the place and she very rarely ovulates due to PCOS. Ie. one cycle every 1-2 years - absolute nightmare for TTC! Like a trooper, she just DTD every second day, and voila - BFP!

GlassLily · 21/09/2020 07:30

@TheDaydreamBelievers thanks! Yeah I tried testing up to twice a day and still nothing - no variation in the test line whatsoever throughout my FW. It's never even been close to the same colour as the control line. I'm really hoping it was a result of having stopped the pill and maybe I'll get lots of positive OPKs from now on?! Anyway, BDing non-stop on case this is the only egg I've got! Also my OH is older (40) which I've heard can make it take longer, has anyone had any experience with this? I'm 29 so hopefully not such a huge problem?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 07:16

@MummytoNoah2 hello and welcome! Do you track temperatures too? Unfortunately OPK sticks measure LH hormone rises which happen just prior to ovulation. However, they dont actually confirm ovulation has happened. Only a temperature rise after the assumed ovulation
day confirms it. Unfortunately, no period means no true ovulation. Your GP doesnt seem to know that, and they often dont know much about fertility. Time to go back to them and ask for some blood tests etc and an onwards referral. Your username suggests you have a wee one already, are you still breastfeeding? That can completely suppress ovulation.

@GlassLily welcome! OPKs can be a bit tricky. Many users here do them 3 times a day when approaching ovulation time as otherwise it's easy to miss the peak! They also seem to vary a lot person to person.

GlassLily · 21/09/2020 06:32

PS. I'm also charting BBT and RHR which all seem to look like "normal" cycles (triphasic BBT and raised RHR during fertile window until AF) so all the negative OPKs were really confusing.

GlassLily · 21/09/2020 06:29

Hi, can I join in the party?! Came off the pill March this year . Had a period about 5.5 weeks later. Had a lovely, regular cycle since, but no luck TTC and nothing but negative OPKs. So frustrating and the OPKs were really worrying me. 7 cycles on and a few weeks ago I went to the doc for day 3 and day 21 blood tests. Had the day 3, now waiting for the day 21... Then yesterday, a positive OPK! My first one Shock I am over the moon. Lots of BD since that Grin so I'm feeling well and truly back in the game after having previously resigned myself to the fact I wasn't ovulating.

Just been reading the thread and so glad to see there are other people with similar experiences and going just as mad as I am. I'm another one who was originally planning to get married in 2020, I guess plans change sometimes!

MummytoNoah2 · 21/09/2020 06:12

Hey ladies!! I’ve just found this thread & couldn’t wait to post!!

I came off my pill in April & still no period!! I’ve had probably 5 “spots” across those months, no pattern though & not pregnant!

Last month I got 2 confirmed ovulation tests but no period came - again, 1 spot on one occasion (the Monday, which was pink) & Weds, which was brown). Lasted all of one trip to the loo!!!! Even the doctor is baffled as surely if you ovulate, and don’t get pregnant, you get a period?!?!?!

This month according to my bodily functions (discharge!) it indicated ovulation last Tuesday/Weds although I had very low readings on the ovulation test. Last night I had a peak reading of 1.75! Where did that come from?! Needless to say we did some baby dancing but I’m soooooo confused!!! I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a period so much in my life!!!

Does anyone have any advice / good experiences yet they’d want to share to stop this woman turning crazy!!!! xxx

@TheDaydreamBelievers here's the link in case you ever need to reference it! www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/when-periods-after-stopping-pill/

I'm hoping it'll help back me up if they try and fob me off with the whole '12 months' thing!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 20/09/2020 21:38

@MintGreenLife that's really good to know! Gynaecology refused point blank to tell me. GP estimated at approximately 6 months +

OP posts:
MintGreenLife · 20/09/2020 21:36

@TheDaydreamBelievers so unhelpful 🤦🏻‍♀️ Do you know how long the wait list is? See I feel like they can't use that as an excuse, as it actually says on the NHS website that your cycle should fall back to its natural pattern within three months off the pill

MintGreenLife · 20/09/2020 21:34

@Flowerkm I'm just hoping that it might bring on ovulation a bit earlier! One reason for not ovulating is not eating enough, and I was being very careful before the wedding, so maybe that hasn't helped things. We shall see! All I want is to just ovulate before CD21 which is considered 'normal' surely that's not too much to ask 😂
