Come one, come all Grin! A thread for those TTC after coming off hormonal contraceptive pills.

Discussions typically include:

  • Baffling temp charts
  • Absent or oddly timed EWCM
  • Whacky cycle lengths
  • AF gone AWOL (current high score is 141 days post pill)

@TheDaydreamBelievers I am on medication and have been since 17. I am monitored on a yearly basis at the moment but if I get pregnant then I have to come off medication and I will be monitored as I will be deemed a high risk pregnancy 🤦
The consultant has said that whilst in the medication I should have as much chance as everyone else (whatever that means). Only time will tell. But the lucky thing is the medication I am on is also used a fertility drug (in higher doses) so it may help.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/09/2020 07:36

@Trying4one - nope. They never investigated it and explained it as post pill problems. That value was from CD 90 of cycle 1, I then had a period CD 141 and ovulated CD 33 of cycle 2 and got pregnant.

Interestingly I also have a pituitary atypicality but that may not have been anything to do with it as was not thought to change function when it was discovered (approx 2011). Was your prolactinoma treated? I know these can impact on fertility

@TheDaydreamBelievers just saw that you had high prolactin levels. Did they find out the reason why? When I was 17 I was diagnosed with a prolactinoma (tumour on pituitary gland) causing high levels of prolactin in my blood. My boobs were producing milk which wasn't great 🤦

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/09/2020 22:49

@MintGreenLife I made them go through the values with me on the phone and wrote them all down with units too! Then googled myself. Prolactin was 'normal' ... but not normal since I wasnt pregnant then! Was in pregnancy range at that time.

Okay thank you, largely symptomless just tired, burpy and anxious. Weird that literally no investigations happen for 8 WEEKS (wk12)

@TheDaydreamBelievers will have to hope my bloods offer some kind of explanation as to what's going on. When you had your bloods done how did you ask for the specific results? Did you just ask to have it emailed to you? I know with you they said 'normal' and then looking into it further you found prolactin to be a bit high, if I'm not mistaken? How are you getting on?! X

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 22:22

@CharWils it might help make things clearer ☺️ Probably wouldn't take more than 10 mins to add this cycle's temps to FF either. Maybe give it a go and see if it helps you figure things out x

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/09/2020 22:03

@MrsBtobe2020 congratulations!!! Hope to see you on some other threads

Wishing everyone all the best. @MintGreenLife that's so frustrating they wont scan you either wyt!

@MintGreenLife thank you. Hope you make a progress too xx

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 21:48

@MrsT12 I think I possibly did ovulate first cycle, but not until around CD25 and then had a very short luteal phase, but hard to say really. Fingers crossed you get back on track soon x

CharWils · 29/09/2020 21:48

Thanks @MintGreenLife

Do you think it would be worth back tracking everything onto FF and trying to get used to it as that seems to be the one most people use/more informative?

MrsT12 · 29/09/2020 21:44

@MintGreenLife ah it may be common for 1st cycle off to be like that. Yes definitely agree. I'm taking 7 seas trying for a baby, I've used these before, ttc #3 xx

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 21:30

@MrsT12 I was the same my first cycle off, as although I didn't use OPKs or chart BBT it was only 30 days so it lulled me into false pretences. I was chuffed thinking that was me back on track, but six months later and I've seen no improvements since my cycles started going haywire 😒 It's super frustrating but just have to have faith it'll sort itself out. What are you doing re supplements etc

MrsT12 · 29/09/2020 21:28

@MintGreenLife I feel last cycle made me feel positive that it was going to return quickly and it was a trick lol. I was on the mini pill this time so no experience of coming off this one. I know I need to be patient. Oh no, that's really frustrating for you. I hope you get some answers soon xx

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 21:21

@AMS19 that's good there's a few things you can do to help things along, sounds like you're really positive about it which is brilliant ☺️

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 21:20

@MrsT12 I came of in April and can only confidently say I've ovulated once since, and that wasn't until CD40, think for some of us it can take time to get back on track, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. I'm having bloods taken tomorrow to investigate what's going on

Elsie2021 · 29/09/2020 21:12

Massive congratulations @MrsBtobe2020! Amazing news. Take care of yourself 😘

AMS19 · 29/09/2020 21:06

@MintGreenLife unfortunately I don't think so. I can use dialators and get CBT support to help. But no quick fix. But the main thing is there is nothing nasty lurking. Smear tests have been fine but good to get an expert opinion just to be sure! Pain i can live with, as long as I'm healthy that is the main thing. Maybe having a baby might even help psychologically. I mean, if I can squeeze a 7/8lb baby out i really should be able to hack a tampon!

MrsT12 · 29/09/2020 21:05

@MintGreenLife I finished it at the end of July. Ovulated on cd16 in August and so far going to skip September entirely 😩 xx

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 21:03

@AMS19 that must be really hard. Do you know if there's anything that can be done about it? X

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 21:02

@MrsT12 that's disappointing. How long have you been off the pill now for?

AMS19 · 29/09/2020 19:27

@MintGreenLife really tricky! I cant use tampons. I find it quite painful a lot of the time. We use a lot of lube which helps. I can usually focus and help myself relax which helps. The main thing is to rule anything nasty out. The only positive is the more sex I have the less painful it gets, so trying for a baby should actually help! But yeah, not ideal at all...

MrsT12 · 29/09/2020 19:23

Hi all I messaged in here a few days ago about blood streaked ewcm, sadly wasn't ovulation spotting. Currently Cd28 and still awaiting ovulation xx

MintGreenLife · 29/09/2020 18:59

@AMS19 haha, if you get the opportunity then why not! Although you never know, you might not need to. Totally had to google vaginismus - that doesn't sound nice for you, does it make DTD tricky? x

AMS19 · 29/09/2020 18:54

@MintGreenLife really frustrating! Bur hopefully the bloods will help. I actually have a gyno apt booked for end of Nov. It is for suspected vaginismus so nothing to do with trying for a baby. But I know I'll end up waving my BBT charts in their face when I get there 😂😂

Sarahp2308 · 29/09/2020 18:11

@Trying4one yeah that’s why they’ve stopped it for us, yep that happens to us aswell I’m more than happy to knock my camera off 😂
