@bubblybrit
Welcome :) that’s exciting for you for the new year :) never too late to join

@Bells3032 really hope the specialist can move his appointment forward and that your gynaecologist can also give you the best advice possible. I’ve noticed there are lots of ivf podcasts and so many wonderful success stories so I really hope this happens for you soon.

Like others have said try and be kind to yourself today :) lots of love x

butterfly5291 · 07/09/2020 13:38

@Bells3032 oh that is rubbish...not sure how people feel about swearing on here!
Allow yourself a day to be kind to yourself and cry etc. Tomorrow hopefully you can see the positives that you know now and are addressing it rather than having to go through a year of TTC and being disappointed. Knowledge is power!
Big hugs xx

IAmFourEels · 07/09/2020 13:37

That must have been difficult to hear @Bells3032, very sorry it wasn't better results. But as you say, it's good you're already preparing for the IVF process and don't have a long wait for that. xx

CookieMonster3001 · 07/09/2020 13:11

@Bells3032 oh I'm so sorry to hear that hun. Sending lots of love your way.

bubblybrit · 07/09/2020 13:02

I’m a little late to the party but hoping that it’s still ok to join? Was going to start my own thread but I stumbled upon this one.

Sorry I haven’t read the full thread but looking forward to getting to know you all a little better during the crazy time that is TTC!

I’m 36 with one DD who is almost 19 months.

DH and I had the talk yesterday about TTC#2 so still in the early stages. We are 99.9% sure that we are ready for another so preparing now (stopping pill/starting folic acid) but prob won’t start officially trying until the new year!

I’m not aware of your full journey @Bells3032 but I am sorry that you are upset. Seemed insensitive to join the group without acknowledging your upset. I hope you are ok.

Bells3032 · 07/09/2020 13:01

The specialist for him doesn't have an appointment til october 13th but they're trying to get him an earlier appointment. I've asked my gyno for some advice on what to do next.

@Bells3032 oh Bells I’m so sorry Sad that must have been so hard to hear. Be kind to yourself today, chocolate, blanket and your favourite film! I know it isn’t much help right now but the end result hasn’t changed, and IVF is so much more advanced than it was years ago. We are all here for you Flowers

What is the plan now? When can you get the ball rolling?

mackjm20 · 07/09/2020 12:55

Oh @Bells3032 I’m so sorry. Sending you the biggest hug! Always here for a chat xxx

Bells3032 · 07/09/2020 12:45

So I had my AMH levels back and I am in low fertility so looks like we would have done IVF anyway at least don't have to wait two years to access it.

Am a bit disappointed. as said my family generally has very high fertility (they breed like rabbits) so was hoping it would be the same for me and it would balance out my husband's poor sperm count.

Crying my eyes out now.

@IAmFourEels welcome :) that’s so exciting :) tbh I would get it out ASAP. I had mine out in Jan and took a little while to get into a cycle :)

@CookieMonster3001 I’m telling you it was the weirdest thing I had this moment of like oh wait... what do I need to do now haha! Omgosh those biscuits sound amazing!!!

@RandyGiles06 aw that’s so amazing :) I may give the pillow a try :) when we are fully ttc I’ll have my legs in the air and all sorts hahah!

I kind of feel like we are ttc anyway even though ‘ntnp’ when af comes I would still count it as 1 cycle gone :) but just need to remember in my head as we have hardly dtd it’s not unexpected :)

God knows what I’ll be like in the tww! Only thing keeping me on the diet today is that due to health conditions I have to take blood thinners as soon as I get a bfp and I need to get that bmi down as much as poss so they don’t lecture me! Basically if by chance of a miracle it happened this cycle I need to have lost weight in the next 3 weeks lol!

mackjm20 · 07/09/2020 12:32

@HeyDW96 oh really! Worth a try then :)

@Bells3032 thank you that makes me feel a bit better :) laughing at your comment about@CookieMonster3001s name making you hungry! Now I really fancy a cookie lol!

I’ve decided to be really super good now and only give myself days off and alcohol days during af. Today is my first no caffeine day after I think it was @Pebbleinthesands advice and my lord am I tired! X

RandyGiles06 · 07/09/2020 12:19

@mackjm20 I did this the first time around and caught on the first month trying, not sure if it contributed or not though! I just put a cushion underneath my bum but no legs in the air. Hubby didn’t seem to mind, we just chatted for 10 mins then I went to the loo and we went to sleep! I think it made it more real that we were “trying” and that’s why things were a little different, though I think if we’d have been trying for more than a couple of months I doubt I’d have kept that up!

Welcome @IAmFourEels Smile I have done exactly the same haha! It’s 3 or 4 periods left for me until we try depending on how my cycles are until December (frustratingly my cycle length varies slightly each month which will be maddening when AF is due when we are officially TTC!)

CookieMonster3001 · 07/09/2020 12:09

@mackjm20 haha I am so glad you brought this up because I do exactly the same thing!! I have read on here some people sitting with their legs in the air for 30-60 minutes. I think I prefer just rolling over and going sleep, infact, i'm quite looking forward to being able to do that! Always feel so relaxed after DTD then having to get up to go to the loo just wakes me up again, and by time I have sorted myself out OH is already snoring away!!

@Bells3032 my sister in law got me a pack of blood orange digestive bikkies because I love chocolate orange, and they are delicious with oozy caramel in the middle. It is taking every ounce of my energy not to go in the kitchen and eat the entire pack!! Ergh!

Bells3032 · 07/09/2020 12:02

@IAmFourEels welcome welcome. It very much depends on your area. I ended up going private cos my gp wouldn't do it and the Sexual health clinics were only there for emergency contraceptives atm. But other people have had no issues getting it removed

IAmFourEels · 07/09/2020 12:01

Hello everyone, I'm jumping on this thread if that's ok - my husband and I have agreed to start TTC in January (literally first thing in 2021 - my predicted ovulation day is January 2nd!!) and I was lying awake early this morning daydreaming about babies and realised that means I only have 4 periods left until TTC!

Anyway, what I'm saying is that I'm starting to get really excited now!! I've wanted to be a mum for so LONG!!

We've been married 6 months and are both 32.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a coil removed on the NHS? Should I be booking my appointment now?

Really lovely to read about everyone else's preparations and hopes and dreams, definitely makes me feel less alone and mad Smile

Bells3032 · 07/09/2020 11:49

@mackjm20 they are super fast and have got where they are supposed to go within a minute really. so no need to lie down for long. haha but i get where you are coming from

OP posts:
HeyDW96 · 07/09/2020 11:40

@mackjm20 another girl told me she tried for about 6 years, they were on the ivf waiting list and had an appointment, then she found out after she was pregnant after 'rolling over and going to sleep' no ivf needed 🤣 don't know how much that actually had to do with it! I think if you can lie for about 20 minutes and make sure the swimmers have a good chance of going in the right direction you'll be fine!

Bells3032 · 07/09/2020 11:36

@CookieMonster3001 even your name is making me hungry

OP posts:
mackjm20 · 07/09/2020 11:29

@CookieMonster3001 Omgosh yes I am so hungry today! Haha it’s impossible isn’t it! I’m not sure ntnp even exists once you have been tracking haha! It’s just less of DTD by my definition lol!

@HeyDW96 I actually just laughed out loud at that! I think that would feel so weird to just go to sleep and forget about it haha! Good to know that is an option though lol!

HeyDW96 · 07/09/2020 11:26

@mackjm20 I am the same, normally straight to the toilet, but an older lady at my work said 'you do the deed, roll over, go to sleep, I will pray for you' 😂

mackjm20 · 07/09/2020 11:23

Probably TMI but thought this would give you all a laugh. So Friday we dtd. Now normally rightly or wrongly I jump up straight after DTD and go to the toilet (to avoid a uti) then come back for a cuddle. Now this time I’m like oh... should I be doing that or just laying here. I’m like googling what I should be doing lol. Horrendous... dh thinks I’m a weirdo trying to keep the sperm up there and I google and all the advice is different anyway I laid there for 10 mins then went to the toilet (no legs in the air) lol! I think that would have tipped him over the edge haha! Can anyone who has done this before advise on the etiquette haha! I’ve read so many different things not really sure which is accurate haha!

CookieMonster3001 · 07/09/2020 11:16

@mackjm20 at the mo, we generally only really DTD on the weekends (too tired from work during the week!) and I checked next month, my ovulation is being predicted to be on Sunday..ooooo haha already thinking about it even though I'm not supposed to LOL

CookieMonster3001 · 07/09/2020 11:14

It is so hard to start dieting the day after eating sooo muchhh fooood!! I am starving already! Normally I don't eat until 12-1pm! Got a meeting in a mo and then forcing myself out for a run even though its freezing!

mackjm20 · 07/09/2020 10:43

@Bells3032 thank you :)

Good luck with the specialist. Oh absolutely knowledge is power and you can do all the right things now to give you the best possible chance :)

mackjm20 · 07/09/2020 10:37

@butterfly5291 honestly angles are everything! My photographer was so lazy with that then my friend had him booked a month later so we were all over him about the angles and her pix were amAzing and loved how I looked in her pix. So maybe get him/ her to do some more test shots with you to get an angle you like so worth it to like your wedding photos :) luckily our guests took some amazing ones :)

@CookieMonster3001 aw lovely sounds like such a nice weekend :) I’m excited to be ntnp although I feel really as it’s half assed it’s basically not trying at all hahaha! Because I know the dates I’m thinking to myself god In nov we better dtd every day of the fertile window haha. It would be a miracle if I got a bfp after 2 dtd during the fertile window this month lol so af is more than anticipated :) Lucky we have our oh’s Bring us back to reality ey ha!

Back on the diet today and I am feeling miserable about it haha!
