Sooo...
I’ve had a few signs that I’m possibly pregnant

  1. Cramping for a couple weeks way before I’m due
  2. Overly emotional (more than usual)
  3. Coffee tastes.... odd
  4. Ready salted crisps craving... I’m not a crisp person
  5. Nausea (without being sick most of the time)
  6. Bloated/Gassy

I’ve taken a test but it’s negative, so I’m wondering if anyone else has gotten a BFP despite BFN readings. Am due for period either today or up till Sunday (cycle varies some months).
TIA x

Hi @KatieLooLa, I hope you are doing ok. Just wanted to let you know I started a new thread for October TTC Bus in case you need any support, there's a few girls following on from the September bus thread joining it too. x

SarahMumof1DS · 19/09/2020 15:52

No worries, completely understand @KatieLooLa.
I'm glad to hear your dad is in good spirits, it goes a long way to helping the body stay strong. Hopefully they have his pain under control with medication.

Oh that's good your partner might have some work, hopefully not too intrusive for you and temporary till he can find something else.

If it makes you feel better I've been supposed to be gearing up for a new diet/lifestyle before everything happened and I've been eating what I want since. Wouldn't want to weigh myself right now! I hope things don't get bad enough that you can't eat the things you want.

I spoke to my husband about still getting tested at the doctor's and he said I should even though we're going to put things on hold for a bit it shouldn't hurt still check out my reproductive health. He's doing ok just taking it very easy and sleeping a lot.

Don't worry about replying just concentrate on you and your loved ones until you're ready to chat.
Speak soon and take care of yourself. x

@SarahMumof1DS
Hiya, sorry again for late reply. Been a hectic week as you can appreciate.
My Dad seems in good spirits despite still being in hospital and in pain.
My partner still looking for a job but might be given a temporary contract where I work, not that I really want that, but needs must! Just waiting on my boss to get things moved along.
Weighed myself this morning and was shocked that I’ve put on a fair bit! Thankfully having not a lot of money will make dieting a bit easier!
Hope all is well with you and glad that your hubby is home and everything can get back to normal, or as close to!
TTC is on hold for a while but keep you updated.
Speak soon and take care x

@KatieLooLa, I'm so sorry to hear about your other half and his job, that's putting a lot of pressure on you both.
And your Dad, that's devastating news and even worse you want to be near him to see him. I'm so very sorry, I hope they can treat him with a good prognosis. Is he in a stable condition now? It's very good you have good friends around you, it's exactly what you need right now. I'll be praying for your dads recovery and for your partners job situation to improve. 🙏🏻

My husband is finally home from the hospital thankfully. It was the worst day of my life, very traumatising. I'm having to watch him to make sure he's not showing signs again. They still couldn't officially diagnose a mini stroke yet so he'll have appointments for further tests. It was so emotional to see my son reunited with my husband, he cried and our little one didn't fully understand. It's been tough doing everything around the house and look after husband and son but I'm coping and will get used to the new routine. Our families are being very supportive.

So I guess the TTC is on hold for both of us?

We will have to put it on hold until my husband is feeling better again and I'm not going to mention it to him. I don't know what to do about going to the doctors, if I should still ask for tests to be done, I'm not sure if they'll recommend it if we're not trying for foreseeable. I feel guilty that I'm secretly sad our ttc is on hold and that my fertility and age is dwindling (I can't remember if I mentioned I might have early menopause in my family so wanted to get ttc in case my fertility runs out). But my husband's health obviously comes first and I don't want to cause him any extra stress than he's already dealing with. I think I might just see what the doctors says. We DTD the 4 and 3 days before ov and the day before ovulation. My ov day was the day we called for the ambulance. I guess there's still a chance this month but it will be very strange if I do fall pregnant this cycle. I guess it depends what fete has planned for us. My temperature is higher this month and my cover line is higher than normal, I'm not sure if that's a sign or if it's because I'm taking the Pregnacare this month. Will have to see. I'm 6 DPO and got 9 days till AF.

I assume for you ttc is the last thing in your mind?

Hope you're ok as can be x

@SarahMumof1DS
Sorry to hear about your husband, must have been a bit scary, can imagine your little one is a bit confused why daddy isn’t there.
My other half lost his job due to the whole covid situation and things have been a bit tight, then got a call about my Dad being rushed to hospital as he was passing blood, sounds like he has prostate cancer, worse thing is that he’s currently living in France and I’m in the Isle of Man so not like I could nip over and see him. So had a bit of a cry after speaking to him on my birthday.
Thankfully have some really good friends that have been there for me xx

@KatieLooLa no worries at all and I'm sorry to hear you've had some stuff going on. I hope you are ok. Happy Birthday for Saturday, I'm glad it cheered you up.

I had a bit of a weekend too, my husband had a mini stroke on Friday night and has been in hospital since. I've been the same not been going on then forum as it's the last thing on my mind. My 2 year old is very clingy so hard to get anything done and my in laws have been staying with me and helping me do I can visit my husband. TTC on hold for now, tho will be strange if I get a BFP in a couple of weeks after all that's been going on. Am here if you want to talk though, maybe help take our minds off of everything. xx

KatieLooLa · 14/09/2020 10:53

@SarahMumof1DS
Sorry it’s taken ages to reply. I was given some bad news (nothing baby related) so haven’t really been in the frame of mind to think about things.
Had my 35th birthday on Saturday, cheered me up a bit, lots of alcohol!
Not sure if I’ll be lucky this month, DTD twice on fertile days so maybe, though not counting on it will everything that’s going on at the moment, plus have been doing a lot of overtime at work, so really haven’t had much chance to do anything.
Hope all is well with you and you’ll be lucky this month, will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Omg @KatieLooLa I nearly missed my ov day! Thought I had pinpointed positive OPK on 8th as the line got darker and then yesterday was even darker so thought I had ovulated today but kept testing and today my test line is darker than my control line which doesn't normally happen for me so looks like I'm actually ovulating tomorrow if I get a temp rise. Will keep testing with the OPKs. It's another lesson learned tho!

13 dpo, maybe baby?
SarahMumof1DS · 08/09/2020 11:03

My app predicted my ovulation for CD15 but said to start doing opks and bbt yesterday so good job I did as looks like I might ovulate tomorrow CD12.

SarahMumof1DS · 08/09/2020 10:55

Stronger line today so will keep testing through the day and see if it gets darker

13 dpo, maybe baby?
SarahMumof1DS · 07/09/2020 23:45

I started to get a line coming up on my tests today so we DTD. I think my peak might be tomorrow tho as it's not as strong as the control line yet. So will summon my husband again tomorrow lol. They say to get as much intercourse in the days leading up to ov so it's good if you can catch that positive opk or upcoming. Have you tried to replace the battery on your reader?

KatieLooLa · 07/09/2020 10:22

@SarahMumof1DS
As my work schedule is a bit manic I try and DTD as much as I can whenever I get high or peak readings. Unfortunately the reader has started to play up, think the battery may be on the way out, thankfully from seeing previous OPK tests can tell today was peak.

OP posts:
SarahMumof1DS · 06/09/2020 23:17

No worries, I've had a busy few days myself.
That's good! Do you DTD the day you get positive OPK and next couple of days? That's what we've been doing. As soon as I start seeing egg white CM and positive OPK I call my husband for duty lol.
It's not the kind of news you can keep to yourself easily is it. I remember our first cycle of trying I was so convinced I was pregnant i couldn't hold it in but I tried to, then my husband said what's up and I smiled and he was like you're pregnant and I said well I think I am. I couldn't stop smiling because I thought I had fallen pregnant our first time TTC and that would have been quite funny after what happened with our son. Turns out I wasn't anyway Confused.

KatieLooLa · 06/09/2020 16:43

@SarahMumof1DS
Sorry thought I’d replied.
DTD this morning, got a flashing smiley on the Clearblue OPK, so I guess well worth doing!
Have to see how this month goes but at least tried once while on fertile day.
I’d probably be like you and tell my other half straight away if I get a BFP, I’m usually rubbish at keeping secrets!

OP posts:
SarahMumof1DS · 04/09/2020 14:40

@KatieLooLa I went out and got some pregnacare conception supplements yesterday. The pharmacist said the doctor would recommend me to take them if I go in for tests anyway, so I guess it's only a good thing to start them. Today I got this (tmi) creamy white/clear CM in my nickers and some clear yellow stretchy CM and when i wiped which was odd. But on the pregnacare box it does say that some women experience some symptoms while taking them. I've only had one dose so far tho so a maybe a good sign they're working if the CM is due to the tablets!

Haha I wouldn't be able to hold it in I would just tell my husband straight away if I get a BFP!
That is early testing for ovulation, but best to check in case you miss it. I ovulated on around CD8 with my son so early ovulation can happen!

So this months period I had egg white CM mixed in with my period and thought I was ovulating during my period. Then my temp shot up so I was worried what was going on. Temp went back down today so hopefully it wasn't ov. My app says to do OPK in 3 days but I might do one today after that weird CM.

KatieLooLa · 03/09/2020 08:55

@SarahMumof1DS
I’ve been taking folic acid, though have skipped a few days recently due to random work shifts.
Might have to do some research into other vitamins etc that might help.
Will probably end up getting my OH (other half) a few beers and sticking a test onto it lol, one of many ideas anyway.
My Clearblue OPK app is saying to start testing tomorrow, usually early to ovulate but last cycle was bit later than usual.

SarahMumof1DS · 02/09/2020 22:10

@KatieLooLa I think all us women who are desperate to see that BFP can't help getting excited at some point or other. I was scared to tell my husband when I suspected I was pregnant as we weren't trying but he was ok once he got his head around it. I tested a couple of days later at 4am and then woke him up to tell him it was positive. He kept reading the instructions to see if I had got it wrong or if it could be inaccurate result.
Still it would be an amazing belated present. Happy upcoming birthday to you! Smile
Feels like it's taking ages already this cycle. My app is saying to do an OPK test in 5 days time and that I've got 24 days left till my next period due feels like forever to wait!
I'm going to go to the pharmacy and ask about supplements see if it can help my chances.

KatieLooLa · 02/09/2020 16:30

@SarahMumof1DS
I try not to get myself excited but can’t help myself, thinking about when I get that BFP.
Then wondering what crazy way to tell my partner when it does happen lol 😂
Would be a nice birthday pressie, but I’d have to wait another week or two after to find out, so more a belated birthday present

OP posts:
SarahMumof1DS · 01/09/2020 20:59

@KatieLooLa yeah see how you get on them.
Yeah me too, but I do crave the odd drink sometimes and definitely we deserve a drink and a tonne of chocolate after AF made us feel miserable! Sometimes I think I should have a drink in case do get a BFP and then I really won't be able to drink for 9 months!!
Aww that would be the best birthday present ever!! I'm keeping everything crossed for you to get your birthday wish!!
It's hard not to get excited at the thought of a BFP isn't it. Grin

KatieLooLa · 01/09/2020 16:52

@SarahMumof1DS
Will have to give the One Step OPKs a try next time I need.
Not really much of a drinker but think a drink and a ton of chocolate is well deserved when AF arrives, eases the heartache a little!
I’m sure it won’t be long till we both get BFP’s.
Got my birthday coming up soon, maybe I might get a BFP for a pressie, be nice to think anyway!

OP posts:
SarahMumof1DS · 01/09/2020 15:33

@KatieLooLa Oh and I've skipped a glass of wine but now I just think no I'm going to have one glass when I get my period and I feel grotty I deserve a drink if I feel like one! It's not going to hurt having the odd one is it. When I fell pregnant with my son I had a couple of cocktails a few days before I even knew I was pregnant and he turned out fine. In fact it's how I started to suspect I was pregnant as I felt the worst after drinking them all night my heart was racing and I felt very off! Then I tested at 14 DPO (days past ovulation) and BFP!!

SarahMumof1DS · 01/09/2020 15:24

@KatieLooLa No worries at all. Haha yes winning the lottery would take the stress out of life and maybe TTC.

Yeah I was put off by the price and I've been getting on with the cheapies so I just carried on with those. The One Step ovulation test strips (wide width) have worked ok so far I recommend those if you decided to try them. I've got the same brand preg strips too but they arrived in the thin width which means they have smaller test lines and a bit more squinty! I have loads left so will have to make do with them and make sure I get the wide width next time, unless I get a BFP (Big Fat Positive) test!

Argh I think it's very hard not to convince yourself sometimes when you know something is happening in your body. And who's to say it isn't it may just be that something is trying to happen but then fails to sustain?? I said that to myself last couple of months that I'd ignore my symptoms till AF arrives but I have to say it's very difficult. It's ok to cry when it doesn't happen either. It is sad when you have such high hopes and then you have yucky AF to contend with and then gear yourself up for the next month!
I've had 4 consecutive months of early spotting and thinking it could be implantation and then AF arrived every time. It is so disheartening and it's hard to be positive not to think that it's gona happen again next month. And yeah I've started to think is there's something wrong with me too. We definitely have to keep each other positive!! This forum has really helped to keep me going the last few days since I joined so I'm glad I did. It's a positive thing and helps us get through especially when we have to wait and wait each month. x

KatieLooLa · 01/09/2020 10:02

@SarahMumof1DS
Thanks for the translations, understand bit better now!
Sorry for late reply, work got in the way unfortunately. Still holding onto the hope of winning the lottery!
Although the Clearblue OPK is good it was a tad expensive too, so won’t be getting it again when all the tests have been used.
I think I try to convince myself every month that I’m pregnant and end up getting upset when AF shows up, think I’m going to write off any symptoms till AF is at least a couple days late.
Have to admit I did have a little bit of a cry when AF came this month as I’d felt so sure I was pregnant, even when I started bleeding it started out light and thought maybe it was IB (implantation bleed) but sadly not. Even skipped on my favourite gin just in case lol!
First time trying for me, my partner had a couple of miscarriages with an ex (long before me) both by accident, so got all upset thinking there’s something wrong with me. Not throwing in the towel yet though, will keep trying!

OP posts:
SarahMumof1DS · 31/08/2020 21:41

@KatieLooLa
Haha! Sorry about that. I'm new to forums, but I've been reading stories on forums for a few months so worked out the lingo over time.

If it helps here's a breakdown of the acronyms:

CM - Cervical Mucus
BBT - Basal body temperature
OPK - Ovulation Predictor Kit
IC - Internet Cheapie (test strips)
EWCM - Egg White Cervical Mucus
DTD - Do The Deed
TWW - Two Week Wait
AF - Aunt Flow (period)

If you come across any more let me know and I'll see if I can translate. I think people get fed up of typing the long versions so cuts down the typing time.

The clear blue one sounds good. You just reminded me to buy some more ovulation internet cheapies as I'm low on them I just got 50 strips for £7.75 on amazon should last me a few months. I think I'll keep going with them and see how i get on and if I have any problems I'll try the Clearblue kit.

So yeah once we've confirmed ovulation we can see how the two week wait goes and see if we get more symptoms again.

3 out of 4 months I've had so many symptoms and been convinced i was pregnant, but still got my period.
I've only had one month where I didn't really get symptoms except feeling a bit sick and spotting and thought oh I feel different/better this month so maybe it means I'm actually pregnant this month, but then Aunt flow still arrived Confused

KatieLooLa · 31/08/2020 20:24

@SarahMumof1DS
Yeah pretty much the same on cycles etc.
The Clearblue ov kit is pretty good, flashing smiley face when highly fertile and static smiley face when at peak (ovulation), really just using it as a guide.
Had some trouble when I first got it as ordered from Amazon, the reader thing didn’t work so had to get a new one sent out so missed out on that cycle, but since getting new reader sent out it, it’s been pretty good.
Can keep each other updated but new to all the lingo so half of what you said doesn’t make sense yet lol 😂
