Hello!
This is my first time on mumsnet (writing rather than silently stalking Wink) but I wondered if I could join? I'm about to turn 38, ttc after a mmc in March and 2 chemical pregnancies recently. I also have a DS who is now two (no problems conceiving him but I was 35 at the time).
I had my day 2 hormone test today but I'm a bit anxious it wasn't actually day 2 as I might just be spotting and it's hard for me to tell what really is day 1! The doctor's receptionist couldn't care less though and had nothing for tomorrow so I had to take a gamble. Has anyone experienced problems being tested on the wrong day?
I haven't been booked for the progesterone test and now wish I'd requested it as I am feeling increasingly sure I have a progesterone deficiency - it would account for the fact I sometimes have spotting before my period and my luteal phase tends to be 9-10 days (ovulating on day 18/19 usually).
I've just started taking vitamin C and B6 (as well as a prenatal multivitamin). Has anyone found these to help?
I hope you're all doing ok and not too stressed over the whole ttc rollercoaster.

@HappyVibes I caved. Just stocked up on some cheap tests and did a cheeky one which was negative ☹️ I’m telling myself that it’s just a cheap test and it wasn’t FMU so until AF arrives I’m still in the running!

Firevie · 03/09/2020 11:17

Hello ladies!!! Ahh thanks for the tip with the bookmark / it’s changed my life lol
Sorry been bit quiet but it’s because I’ve literally got nothing to report. Will stop doing OPKS now as yesterday’s was v low at 0.12 so I guess I’m now waiting for AF so I can then get back onto it again. But I’m very excited about all the Saturday tests! Cannot wait for @VP91x to put you all in her BFP list for the next thread.
@VP91x hope you’re enjoying dtd now that you’ve peaked! Fingers crossed it’s your month this month! Xxx

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 11:01

@HappyVibes thank you! Fingers crossed to all the others testing Saturday too!

@Wishingfornumber2 oh that’s so good to know! I might actually use that myself now! Xx

Banbi · 03/09/2020 10:56

Hi everyone - checking back in. I've been lurking in the background the past six weeks, dipping in every week or so to read up on how you're all doing. My motivation is really up and down with everything at the moment (partly the TTC journey, partly not leaving the house enough as I'm still WAH), and I'm even struggling to find the energy for MN!

Sending huge love to everyone who's navigating the NHS right now.

Good luck to the Saturday testers. I caved and did an early test this month (BFN), but AF isn't here yet so I've not lost hope - trying not to test again until either AF or the weekend!

Wishingfornumber2 · 03/09/2020 10:45

Update from me. Just had a phone call with dr. She is going to book me in for an ultrasound as have been trying for 2 years. Also got to book blood tests for 7 days before period and and then cd 2. But my cycles have been irregular so not sure when to book for! My last 2 cycles have been long at around 40 days but before that were about 31/32 days. Maybe I should go in the middle. My husband also needs to call to book in for tests. I mentioned about using opks and she said not to!

@MinnieMouse4 & @HappyVibes I found out about the bookmarks by accidentally pressing on it once. It marks your place. So when you next look at the thread it goes back to where you last marked. I use it all the time now to know where I’m up to on the thread. Xx

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 10:20

@MinnieMouse4 that’s very exciting that you’re testing Saturday too! Fingers crossed for you girl. 💓Oh I have no idea what bookmarking does ha - I can see the sign to bookmark comments but I don’t know what it does or anything ha. Xxx

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 09:57

@HappyVibes I seem to have bookmarked one of your comments above. Not quite sure how I did that or how to undo it.

AF is due today according to Flo and tomorrow according to Clue. I think I can feel it coming on but still have everything crossed and hopeful for a BFP on Saturday x

MrsK21 · 03/09/2020 09:41

@Northernsoul90 It's soy isoflavones that help eggs mature. The COQ10 helps with egg and sperm quality. The other thing that is actual medication is clomid, which creates higher levels of FSH to get more eggs to maturity. If she's going for IVF, will her clinic provide her with the necessary shots / medicines to help with the egg retrieval? Usually the clinic do this as part of the IVF cycle. I've got a friend currently going through IVF and having to inject herself daily prior to egg collection in a couple of weeks x

Sully84 · 03/09/2020 08:35

@Northernsoul90, I’m sure I’ve read on thread so MN about co enzyme q10 helping eggs (not sure in what capacity) but maybe try googling about it or doing a search on here to see the specifics around using it with regards to fertility? X

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:28

@HappyVibes thank you so much 🤞🏻 It’s not easy this ttc business x

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 08:21

@Runnergirl1 oh yeah I know it’s completely understandable is that. What a good way around it for you though to have found that works for you. We had that issue re the pressure too, I think it’s very very common. I feel so much for the guys in that situation.

Good luck lovely xxxx

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:19

@Northernsoul90 I can’t be of much help as I don’t know the name of it but I’m sure some women take a certain supplement at the start of the cycle and taking them on certain days is supposed to help mature the egg x

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:16

@HappyVibes thank you for your advice. Unfortunately don’t track any other way so that’s not very helpful. I would do it all the time in fertile window but although we are trying my oh doesn’t like the pressure so don’t usually tell him and think he will suss if I try it again with him tonight although very annoying for me x

Northernsoul90 · 03/09/2020 08:12

Hi ladies I'm just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about egg maturity? I'm just looking for info for my sister who is currently looking into IVF. She has had some tests carried out and has been told that she has lots of follicles but her eggs aren't maturing, does anyone know anything about this or know of any medication that could help? She is going to ask for the test results from the IVF clinic and take them to her GP but wanted to go with as much information as possible.

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 08:11

@Runnergirl1 oh I see lovely. Other than the CM are you tracking any other way that could help indicate when ovulation was?

The statics stay on for 72 hours because from the static showing you can ovulate 24 hours after that. & after ovulation, you can be fertile for up to another 24hours.

It is of course completely personal and what you and OH feel most comfort with lovely. If you have any other signs or symptoms that you’ve been tracking with, maybe that would identify when ovulation may have been?

Xx

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:06

@HappyVibes. I didn’t test at all yesterday and normally have two days of static. I think yesterday would have been the first as the amount of ewcm yesterday was unreal l, never had so much. Not sure if that’s due to pom juice or just new after mc x

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 07:47

Oooh that’s interesting @VP91x re the OPK this morning. I’m not too sure sorry as I use the CBD but hopefully one of the other ladies can help. Is it higher or lower than your other peak? The temp is a good sign though for sure. & the scan for further reassurance is just the most amazing timing 💓

@Runnergirl1 if you got your static today on CBD I would personally DTD today to be fully covered for your best chances lovely. xxx

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 07:39

@VP91x thank you very much, you are very knowledgable. I did a fb ovulation this morning and there looking back at me was a smiley face. We DTD last night so hopefully caught it as the peak may have been yesterday too. Might try DTD again tonight but my partner isn’t normally too keen to do that. Last time we fell pregnant though we DTD 3days before ovulation and managed to catch so 🤞🏻

Rainbowhope11 · 03/09/2020 07:27

@VP91x aww I can imagine 😢 it's always so difficult losing a pet. How is Bella doing through all of it? OH is doing okay, much more relaxed now, as am I. I think we've both been caught up with work so much that we haven't had much time to dwell on things too much. My doctor says that it can take 3-6 months to fall pregnant even with the clomid, but I think I'm okay with that as long as I have a plan (secretly hoping it's soon though!) Oh great that's great! It's almost time for your scan too! Hope that it's good news. Let me know how it goes! I have mine in the morning 😊

VP91x · 03/09/2020 06:49

Oh my morning update is that I got a temp rise from 35.86 to 36.46 so looks like ovulation might have happened, however still had peak OPK this morning. Has this happened to anyone else? Xx

Morning ladies,

Exciting that we have lots of testers Saturday @chloedancer897 @MrsK21 @Northernsoul90 @HappyVibes got everything crossed for you all 💕

@HappyVibes that was a good decision! Backed up by a stat, lots of willpower xx

Thank you @MichT4 🥰🥰

@Wishingfornumber2 maybe get your doc to measure progesterone levels this cycle to confirm ovulation for you? Xx

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 03:31

@Northernsoul90 that’s interesting about your lil twinges too 🤔 I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on them and they’re definitely frequent and I certainly don’t usually have that feeling ordinarily so frequent. I described it to my husband yesterday as feeling like I’ve done an ab workout or it feeling like I’m tensing my abs? Hey ho who knows 🤷‍♀️

No early testing for me today ladies - mainly because I only have one early test at home and at this stage it’s only 51% accurate so I’m not gunna do it to myself. We are gunna get some more early tests in before the weekend & deffo test Saturday 🥰

Wishingfornumber2 · 02/09/2020 23:09

@VP91x it’s with a gp. I haven’t used opks for the last few cycles so haven’t pinpointed actual ovulation for a while. Was hoping to have confirmed ovulation this cycle before tomorrow. X

MichT4 · 02/09/2020 21:14

@VP91x I can't wait to hear your scan outcome. What perfect timing!! xx
