Hey all
I've been ttc for a long time, I had my lap and dye last week which removed all endo visible and unstuck my left ovary from my tube. My tubes are clear. The horrible bleeding that I had after is coming to an end. I'm very determined to try everything I can this month and the following months if I fail.
I have read about this SMEP and I've heard good things about it.
Today I am CD 5 so I am going to start dtd tonight instead of the recommendation of CD 8. I done an ovulation test today (just for fun) there's a second line but very much not positive so going to keep doing them twice a day until I get my surge. Also have some cb advance ones coming tomorrow.

My question is how many people have used this method and been successful on here? Would love to keep chatting to people through these next 6 months if possible as this is kind of the last hurdle before more fertility tests are taken for both me and my DP xx

Haha I can imagine @Muda but if it has worked then it would have been worth it 🤞🏻 for you. When are you testing? X

Muda · 26/08/2020 20:29

@Mich2020honestly it wasn’t very romantic more pump and dump 😂
@Bbdm1984 no real symptoms- I have an extremely gargley stomach but not sure that’s a symptom or not!

Mich2020 · 26/08/2020 20:22

Cheapy from just now 🤞🏻 for solid smiley and bold dark lines tomorrow x

@Bbdm1984 just done a cheap opk and it's still not positive but it's getting there 🤞🏻
Also sorry if tmi when I went to the loo to do the test I wiped and am spotting. It's pink but I'm sure last month I had this around ovulation time too. Does anyone else have spotting??
@Muda eek good luck, how did you find dtd every day for 7 days.. reckon I might be able to manage it but sounds tiring 🙄🙄 lol x

@Muda have everything crossed for you do you have any symptoms? Keep us updated

Muda · 26/08/2020 20:10

Hi everyone, we did the smep this month trying it for the first time. We have been ttc #1 since November 2019. We did every other day and during fertile week every day for 7 days. Just waiting to see if AF shows up in a few days

Bbdm1984 · 26/08/2020 20:01

Massive*

Bbdm1984 · 26/08/2020 20:00

@Mich2020 af is due any time from the 11th with ovulation due sometime this weekend

@Cocomelons maddive congratulations, did you use the conceive plus once you had your peak opks? Or did you use before?

Luckily for me dp shifts finish on friday so i can take advantage when he has had a drink ha he is more willing to dtd then

Mich2020 · 26/08/2020 19:12

Congratulations @Cocomelons good to know about the conceive plus. We have just got the fertility check stuff that comes in those small tubes. But it's very watery and not ideal at all tbf. Think I'll give the conceive plus a go next month of no luck this month x

Cocomelons · 26/08/2020 19:07

Worked for me. 2nd month of trying. First month didn't follow any particular plan and 2nd month did SMEP and am now 6 weeks pregnant with baby No 2. Also used conceive plus in the 2nd month. 1st month used pre seed. Not sure if it helped but also used Conceive plus the month we got pregnant with our first

Mich2020 · 26/08/2020 18:16

My app says my period isn't due until the 14th September, but it's out quite often so I figure if my peak comes tomorrow then I will prob test somewhere around the 9th/10th September. How about you?x

When is everyone due to be testing/af due?

Mich2020 · 26/08/2020 17:57

Haha my DP is a bit like that too and it's him that's very eager everyday 🙈 I know we should dtd every other day before peak but surely if we can dtd for 3 days in a row peak time then it won't hurt to do it before the peak would it? Don't wanna skip a day now because I think it's going to be tomorrow that I see that solid smiley face on my CB.. 🤞🏻

Bbdm1984 · 26/08/2020 17:51

@Sleepyhead81 haha 4 days in a row is my dp idea of hell. Dont get me wrong he loves dtd but he always likens me to a teenager who has just lost her virginity whereas he can take it or leave it. He still hasnt realised i am only like a teenager for one week a month

Sleepyhead81 · 26/08/2020 17:40

Hi, can I join in too. This is my first month trying SMEP after a miscarriage in June.
Currently on cd 18, dtd days 8, 10, 12, 14 had positive opk day 15 so dtd 15, 16 and 17! 4 days in a row, hubby thinks all his birthdays have come at once!!

Mich2020 · 26/08/2020 17:13

Good luck ladies. Let's try and keep positive 😊😊 hopefully we can all come out of this very soon with our bfps 🤞🏻 happy to keep this thread going with you all, and seeing how things go for us x

Can i join, i am too following smep this month (unbeknown to dp as he is very much of the opinion it will happen when it happens 🙄) i am currently cd9 and we have bd cd3 and cd5 will bd tonight and every other until i get my peak when we will bd for 3 days as well as use preseed. I am 35 and have been ttc since july 2019 and concieved in oct but has a mc in dec. My periods didnt return until they were brought on by medication in late march 2020. I have 2 dc from a previous relationship but there is a massive age gap; dd is 16 and ds is 13 this would be dp first. 🤞 for us all

Mich2020 · 26/08/2020 16:24

Well I don't quite know what's happening with my cycle, but we haven't really followed plan we've just dtd every day for the last 3 days. Even without a peak test yet. The monitor is still reading high and the cheap opk are still no where near positive. Wondering if the lap and dye might have slightly changed my cycle, if normally have the ovulation pain by now. Will keep testing more than once a day and see what happens. Dtd everyday can't hurt too much right 🙄🙄 x

Me!!! First time after a year of trying!! Can't say if it was this particular method or a coincidence but I would def give it a shot again :-)

RobinRose · 24/08/2020 08:24

@Mich2020 it depends on various factors, time between vasectomy and reversal being the biggest thing, 12years for dp which reduces the success rate. The reversal worked, Dps sperm count was within range after 3 months and we were told this should improve, but here is a risk of the tubes scaring back up again, which makes me a bit panicky. There is a lower chance for us than normal couples but trying to stay positive! Hope you are getting on ok x

Mich2020 · 22/08/2020 19:45

@igloo92 it's been a long old ride yes. Good luck to you too. Keep me posted won't you 🤞🏻🤞🏻 xx

igloo92 · 22/08/2020 19:43

@Mich2020 I was expecting to ovulate around day 11 or 12 like the last couple of months but didn't until 14/15 this time which took me by surprise!
Fingers crossed for you, sounds like you've been through a lot already and it would be wonderful to get a bfp 🤞🤞🤞

Mich2020 · 22/08/2020 19:18

@igloo92 I'm on CD 7 now. Ovulation tests are still reading low which is normal I think I will ovulate around day 11-12. We dtd CD4 and 5 and will hopefully get it in tonight after DP finishes a very long shift 🤞🏻 just hoping my lap and dye hasn't effected my cycle too much xx

OP posts:
igloo92 · 22/08/2020 12:43

@Mich2020 we ended up skipping two days instead of one but I think (and hope) that the other days are more important anyway so I'm happy with what we managed. Now in the tww and the days are crawling by! How are you getting on?

Mich2020 · 21/08/2020 17:22

@RobinRose Aww extra good luck for you.. how does that effect your rates is it extremely lower or will everything go back to normal after a certain amount of time ? X
