@CEW19 I remember feeling the exact same last Christmas (we started TTC just before the previous Christmas). It's definitely worth getting your bloods done etc, just to see if there's anything they can do to help you along the way.

My results have doubled! I'm honestly so relieved, I don't know how I would have dealt with it if they hadn't. Obviously anything can change at anytime, but for now at least, everything looks ok. Just hoping it stays that way

@cew19 that's a good point, working from home has definitely reduced the distractions available!

@daffodil21 hope you get some answers today, we're all hoping for you!

CEW19 · 18/12/2020 09:07

We started trying last Christmas, so I know it could just be one of those things, but it's so shit every month anyway. Just thinking back to last Christmas when we were both so excited about the prospect of either having a baby or being pregnant this Christmas. I feel like I may have felt differently about it if it hadn't happened this year, but I've been working from home since March, have barely seen family or friends all year, and haven't been anywhere, so nothing to distract me.

Fingers crossed for you @Daffodil21 you deserve some positive news. Let us know how you get on. X

Daffodil21 · 18/12/2020 08:57

@CEW19 I'm so sorry, and for AF to come early is just taking the piss, really. I suppose it puts you out of your misery sooner rather than later but it's still really shit. Have all the wine with your Christmas dinner! How long have you been TTC for now? I'm sorry you probably have said already but sometimes I lose track!

Got the doc calling me in 25 mins to let me know if my HCG has risen enough for this pregnancy to be looking ok after the pink. Absolutely bricking it.

CEW19 · 18/12/2020 08:51

No Christmas miracle here, the opposite actually as AF has come 4 days early Sad Had thought maybe implantation, but I use resting heart rate to track my cycle and that's gone down too. Bleurgh. Going to make an appointment with GP now I think. Feeling so disappointed, was so sure this would be our month. I blame Hollywood movies lol

Daffodil21 · 16/12/2020 11:13

@CEW19 not yet, but that doesn't mean much - last time I had spotting one evening then nothing for a whole week

OP posts:
CEW19 · 16/12/2020 11:05

Have you had any more spotting @Daffodil21?

Hope this is the one for you too. We all deserve a Christmas miracle now!

Daffodil21 · 16/12/2020 10:27

@Bramleyapples13 thanks. The whole things is a compete shit show. I still haven't had the obstetrician call me, so much for 'urgent referral' (it's been 2 weeks now). I finally received my recurrent mc referral letter through the post today, along with a really confusingly worded letter which manages to read like they're not testing the last one, the have yet to test it, or they have tested it and found nothing, all at the same time. Feeling fed up and like there is just no hope for pregnancy number 4. Pregnancy number fucking 4?? How the fuck did that happen.

@Tofu35 glad it went ok! Fingers crossed!!!! I'm not sure I could have refrained myself with your friend's partner!!!

@CEW19 this time and last time I wasn't surprised by a positive result because I could feel something going on in there, but then who knows if it's just my mind playing tricks on me like it doesn't every other month. Hoping you get your Christmas positive!!

@cew19 I think my last few friends who were pregnant (including two lockdown babies) told me how long they were trying for- one had several cycles of IVF and had given up, one had a history of infertility before their first and this is their second, and the other was "first month trying'. Although I could have swung for her partner who started joking *why do people say it's hard, just have sex on the right day and it'll happen" Angry

I keep the first two in mind when thinking about my own TTC. It took a while for them, and now they have a wee one.

Never asked them about positions though!

CEW19 · 15/12/2020 22:06

Hope everyone else is keeping a better hold on their sanity Confused

CEW19 · 15/12/2020 22:06

Aww crossing fingers for you @Tofu35!

I am now in the one week wait, and already convinced it hasn’t happened again. Feel the same as I do every month. Does anyone actually feel any different in the first couple of weeks? I’ve also just found out another friend is pregnant. Anyone else just want to grill pregnant friends about how long they’ve been trying, what vits they take, what position, legs in the air or no legs in the air?! Or am I just going mad?!

Tofu35 · 15/12/2020 21:24

Managed to avoid posting while I waited in the clinic waiting room- but home now! Had my hycosy today, like a smear test with additional ultrasound (with what I'll describe as a dildo camera) and the dye test to check there were no blockages. So I'm now sitting with a sanitary pad on because the dye just 'leaks out' over the next few hours.

A few of my friends were excited because they had a positive result after their hycosy, so my fingers are crossed :)

Bramleyapples13 · 14/12/2020 17:55

Bloody hell @Daffodil21. Do you need help beating them with a stick? I hope everything's okay! I completely agree with @Tofu35 with your history they should be more on the ball. I hope it goes okay tomorrow and until tomorrow actually.

Daffodil21 · 14/12/2020 13:37

@Tofu35 thanks. After an embarrassing meltdown on the phone and me being ruder than I would have liked (I had to apologise afterwards 🙈). I've got some bloods booked for tomorrow and Thursday, to see if HCG is rising enough. The midwife did suggest a scan again, but actually we've decided not to, and to just see what my HCG is doing for now

Tofu35 · 14/12/2020 09:28

It is amazing how much the person who answers the phone can make or break your experience/treatment @daffodil21. I had a friend who swears she would hang up if she heard a certain voice because she knew she'd be on the road to nowhere 😂

Hope you manage to get something booked in, you'd imagine with your history, this would make you a high priority within the early pregnancy group.

Daffodil21 · 14/12/2020 09:12

Thanks @Tofu35 tried to book bloods this morning but the useless person on the phone wouldn't book me in so have to go via the midwife who of course is out on calls all day and may not be able to get back to me today. They booked me in direct at the gp last time for the same reason so I don't know why she wouldnt! Might try again later and hopefully get someone else

Shit, sorry @daffodil21. Hoping it's an isolated incident and not a sign of something else xx

Daffodil21 · 13/12/2020 21:09

I've had some pink when wiping tonight. Not even 5 weeks until tomorrow. Fuck sake

@bramleyapples13, my husband had to go private for semen analysis (after a few errors with his NHS test and then a predicted 3 month gap to wait for the next appt). When I got my initial consultation with NHS fertility, they said the first step was the hycosy stuff and then suggested a 3 month wait. I think this is now month 15 or 16 for us (losing count, and the will!) so we just decided to have this part done private. So we called a few places and found one that was really nice (a few that were maybe less so).
I checked with the NHS clinic about what this would mean, and the doctor said 'if you go private, send us the results and it'll allow us to speed things a long a little quicker'.

I think if I wasn't 35, this 3 month wait wouldn't have been such a worry- I think we both just want some answers as to why we've been unlucky so far :)

Sorry long answer to a short question!

@daffodil21 you can't leave the thread, we'll block the doors 😉

Daffodil21 · 13/12/2020 15:30

@Bramleyapples13 I'm not really sure tbh! But thanks for asking ❤️ I'm just thinking of it as a pregnancy rather than a baby if that makes sense, because I know full well what is eve likely to happen. Will see if we get through Christmas and to Jan but atm I'm just trying not to get too invested in it.

It's hard when it comes to giving a up - if we knew it would take x months then of course it would be easier, but the most the months pile on, the more you h almost start to resent giving up things!

Sorry I'm still hanging around btw 😂 I feel comfortable here and I don't really have any intention of leaving - hope that's ok! I definitely don't feel like I should be a 'pregnant' club (doesn't help that once again I have zero symptoms apart from endless nighttime peeing)

OP posts:
Bramleyapples13 · 13/12/2020 10:08

@Tofu35 it's ridiculous isn't it. It's about as fun as making sure the washing ups done 😂 and I'm feeling a bit like I'm the only one making an effort. I want the OH to drink less but that conversation went like I was trying to plait fog 🙄 how did you go about going private? And knowing what needs doing? I've looked into it as an option if the fertility clinic keep taking ages but aren't sure where to start. I hope it goes okay for you. You'll have to let us know when you go for it.

@Daffodil21 I know! It's confusing who's going for what and where now 😂 how are you feeling in yourself? It would be so much easier if these places actually spoke to each other. I bet there's quite big cross overs with what they each do too. It's annoying me that they've not contacted you yet!

Daffodil21 · 13/12/2020 07:33

Sorry @Tofu35 I was getting confused between you and @Bramleyapples13 ! I thought last time we spoke you were 16 days away from AF but just trad back and read @Bramleyapples13 is due on 16th (keeping everything crossed for you!!!)

Glad there's some progress for you @Tofu35 !

OP posts:
Tofu35 · 12/12/2020 23:36

@daffodil21, AF arrived on Friday- soon as she appeared I called the clinic to book in for the test (needs to be a certain point of your cycle). I've never been so happy to see that bloody cramp queen 😂

Daffodil21 · 12/12/2020 19:09

@Bramleyapples13 no this referral is supposed to be to support me in early pregnancy and see if there's anything else I should be doing (aspirin etc) so I 'don't feel like I'm just being left to it'. That is what my GP said anyway. The referral to the recurrent mc clinic is still in place, and we should get a letter in January about it, as well as the karyotyping results from the last pregnancy. They said if this pregnancy fails they may not test it if we haven't got the results from the last one, which I am not happy about and intend to push push push with the consultant when they eventually call. I chased it last week and it's been transferred from the GP to the local hospital consultant, and then they've transferred it to a main city hospital, which I have yet to hear from.

@Tofu35 this is good progress though! I hope it goes ok. I've never had one so I don't really know what they do. Keep us posted. When is AF due for you? Must be soon now?

OP posts:
Tofu35 · 12/12/2020 18:22

@bramleyapples13 it's always the worst bit of early testing! Its tough to keep sex feeling enjoyable and not like a slog! Definitely had a few of those "let's just get this over with and we can tick it off the to-do list today" 😂

@daffodil21 oh no, I hope they call soon- that's rubbish.

I'm getting my hycosy on Tuesday (privately paid for). Just so happens it's the same time as my staff Christmas party, so I'll need to tell my team I can't run the zoom quiz 😂 bit nervous about it, but read the info they send out so hopefully all will be ok!
