@kirinm hopefully you get an answer pretty quickly and it's good news.

Think I'm going to take a step back, stop using OPKs and just TRY to chill about the whole thing. I had never used OPKs until after the ectopic and honestly I feel like it's just adding more stress. Refusing to test anymore until the day AF is due as I'm sick of getting evaps / false positives. Have ordered myself some more TTC vitamins which are an all in one rather than me popping 5 different pills a day and I guess I'll just hope that next month has some better news 😴

kirinm · 14/09/2020 14:06

@whambam89 sorry you're spotting. It is totally shit and I know how you feel about your due date coming up. It is really hard to know that some people are able to get pregnant (and stay pregnant) without any complications and I still struggle with hearing pregnancy announcements. It does feel unfair even though it isn't actually anyone's fault. Can you treat yourself tonight?

I have just spoken to the GP - he didn't know the answer to any questions but has said he will write to someone who will, today. He said a response would probably be received within a week so I will give them a call on Friday and see what they have to say. Assuming I didn't ovulate on CD11 and miss the OPK, I think we will have to avoid ttc this month until we know a bit more about the risks.

whambam89 · 14/09/2020 13:35

@kirinm hopefully the GP will be able to put your mind at ease 🤞

I've just started spotting so that's me out as suspected... Completely exhausted by it all, feel like just giving up, especially when it seems to happen so easily for everyone else. Think it's hit harder this month considering I should be 37 weeks pregnant by now so my due date will pass and I'll still be very not-pregnant 😪

@MrsB2019x

How frightening for you *@kirinm*, I imagine the GP is the best place to start but can ask them where to signpost you for more detailed information too?
Only place to start I think. The internet isn't helpful unless it is a primary infection during pregnancy.

kirinm · 14/09/2020 11:03

@claireb707 I'm speaking to my GP this afternoon - I have to have more blood tests to check my liver function, but they are next to useless on most things. I will ask though.

claireb707 · 14/09/2020 11:00

@kirinm

I'm kind of freaking out a bit. The cause of me being unwell in August was CMV - a common viral infection. I had an antibody test first which showed I already had had it - so the fact I had it again, meant that it had reactivated - it stays in your body forever but is dormant. Apparently the chances of it reactivating are very low and everything I've read suggests it often only reactivates for people with very compromised immune systems. The doctors assumed my immune system had been weakened by being pregnant (even though it ended quickly in a chemical).

As it turns out, CMV is really dangerous in pregnancy. It can cause very serious birth defects if the infection is caught during pregnancy - from what I've read, the risk is much higher with primary infections i.e. you've never had it before.

Obviously I have had it (twice now)! The risk of reactivation is low and the risk of passing it on (if it is reactivated) to the foetus during pregnancy is also much lower. But now I have no idea if it is even safe for us to try again. There is a lot of information about primary infection but I can't find much about the risks when you've had a reactivation. The only thing I've seen about the risks of trying to conceive suggest waiting 6-12 months. But I don't know if that is for a primary infection or not. If that is the case for a reactivation, then our ttc days are done which is devastating.

I can't work out who I should contact for advice and don't know what to do. I don't suppose anyone has any idea?

Sorry for the long post.

Oh gosh I can see why you are worried. I don't even know what cmv is so cant help much but is it worth contacting your doctor

whambam89 · 14/09/2020 09:21

@MrsB2019x no idea! I'm only 11dpo so I know "it's not over until AF shows" bla bla bla but it's a little disheartening! Not had any cramps or anything since Saturday and pretty sure my boobs aren't hurting as much as they were yesterday so I'm 99% sure I'm out.

whambam89 · 14/09/2020 09:18

@claireb707 how strange! Fingers crossed you'll be getting your BFP soon x

MrsB2019x · 14/09/2020 08:50

Massive hugs to you @SS123456 💙 Let yourself feel angry & sad about it, it’s a shit feeling.

Gutted for your BFN @whambam89! Wtf was that line about yesterday then?

@kirinm I’ve sometimes found I get EWCM then a positive OPK a couple of days later 🤷🏻‍♀️ Think you’ll be best to DTD just to be on the safe side!

claireb707 · 14/09/2020 08:48

Cd36, 18dpo (I think), still no period and my temps have gone back up 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
whambam89 · 14/09/2020 07:47

@kirinm I think EWCM is your best indicator so get DTD!

kirinm · 14/09/2020 07:45

Sorry to hear that @whambam89

@SS123456 sorry to hear AF has arrived. I can imagine how gutting it is to get to 12 cycles.

Still a negative OPK for me so no idea what is happening. Clear Blue OPKs have always worked for me before so either I'm going to ovulate really late or I'm not going to ovulate at all. I had what I thought was EWCM this morning too.

whambam89 · 14/09/2020 07:44

@SS123456 Sorry AF has arrived, can only imagine how fed up you must be feeling 😪

@claireb707 how are you getting on?.

SS123456 · 14/09/2020 07:30

Sorry to hear that @whambam89!

AF has arrived for me this morning. I've hit the massive milestone today of 12 months ttc, a place I never thought I'd be at 😩. I think I'm really going to feel it today

whambam89 · 14/09/2020 07:22

BFN this morning so guessing I'm out this month!

whambam89 · 13/09/2020 22:02

@Sansa87 I know what you mean, hopefully you get a wave of positivity and just book it, then there's no going back!

Sansa87 · 13/09/2020 21:54

@whambam89 I’m going to hold out hope for you. It’s not over until it’s over.

I’m definitely going to book an early scan, im just not sure for when. The stomach pain still makes me nervous enough that ignorance is bliss. I can’t wait til 12 weeks though.

I still need to actually get referred for a booking in appointment. Too superstitious to even do that, almost like that would jinx it.

whambam89 · 13/09/2020 21:50

Are you going to see if you can get an early scan booked this week @Sansa87?

whambam89 · 13/09/2020 21:49

@Sansa87 don't worry, I won't hold you to it haha. I had a definite line at 10/11dpo last month but then BFN after that and AF arrived the next day so even if I had a squinter I wouldn't be getting my hopes up! I think AF will probably arrive tomorrow or Tuesday to be honest.

Sansa87 · 13/09/2020 21:15

@whambam89 sorry, nfl is back on so I completely forgot. Bad friend!

I just showed it to him and it was like a second before he said “yeah, I can see something, right there”

Obvs he’s not a pregnancy predictor, so I don’t want to be sued, but I haven’t known him to be wrong with a squinter.

whambam89 · 13/09/2020 20:38

@sansa87 did your OH have a look at my squinter of a "line" with his expert eyes? 😂

AF will be here tomorrow if my past cycles and short LPs are anything to go by so guess it's not long until the wait is over either way!

stickytoffeepud1991 · 13/09/2020 20:00

@SS123456 @MrsB2019x @whambam89

Thanks lovely’s. I just feel like I’m moaning for moaning sake. I should be grateful I have My DD but as you’ve mentioned I’m trying to time it with school, avoiding a September baby .. trying to dtd at the right time, make sure I’m ovulating 😂🤣 I mean it took 4 months to conceive DD and I’m only officially on cycle 1 so I should just suck it up. Thanks for listening to me moan! Hope everyone is okay! Zzz

whambam89 · 13/09/2020 19:46

@MrsB2019x pizza is a great idea... Food is always the way forward 😂 enjoy!
