Hi all,

Sorry if this is a silly question but I'm looking at purchasing the Clearblue digital ovulation test. The pack comes with refills but can I not buy more refills without buying the actual digital test?

I've looked but can find them.

Thanks *@claireb707* it's the advanced one I've been looking at also. I would have to use everyday or other day then to get a definite answer when I'm ovulating wouldn't I?

Will be expensive at the start until I get to know my cycle but hopefully worth it in the long run.

Use everyday, it's very easy to miss your peak.

If I only tested once a day with fmu I would miss my peak which typically occurs around 4pm (hence testing multiple times once I get flashing smiley)

I swore by these when getting pregnant.
You cannot buy the "strips" on their own. Depending on your cycle, 10 tests a month is normally enough. I would buy a pack of 2 (and yes use the "tester" twice") and if still no pregnant, maybe then buy a pack of 10 for month 3. Or another pack of 2 if you want two more months worth. This does mean you'll end up with more than one tester, but it's more than worth the money. I'm giving my unused strips and testers to a friend who is now trying

I have been using the clear blue connected one which has an app and connects by bluetooth to your phone I have used it for 4 months and still have enough sticks to go for another 2 months.
Before that I had just the digital one but the holder stopped working after 3 months.
I like the connected on as it’s clear to see.
I haven’t tried the electronic very expensive one.

I personally use the digital advanced one, I have regular 28/29 day cycles ovulating around day 14/15

I started testing day 9 ish with fmu, as soon as I got flashing smiley, I started testing 3 times a day with cheapies and once with cbd. When cheapies got dark I tested twice a day with cbd to make sure I got peak.

I've got my peak spot on (confirmed with ewcm and temps) on 11 months out of 12 with this method

It does depend on which one you are talking about? There are 3

The cb digital, the cb digital advanced and the electronic one (v expensive)

The digital one tests just for lh and gives you a couple of days window, the digital advanced one tests for estrogen and LH and gives you a 6 day window, not sure about the 3rd but this one you can buy refills for. The other 2 are complete sets but you can reuse the devices from both but you can't buy refills

Maybe I've completely misunderstood how to use it.

If I do not have regular periods and don't know when I ovulate wouldn't I need to use one strip every day?

I've been using the same device now for 5 months, I buy the boxes of 20 and just put that box's device away and carry on using the original one

Once you get peak you can't retest for 48 hours but the device will still work.

It's best you do carry on using the same one as it 'learns' your baseline hormone levels.

Only issue is if the battery goes mid fw, but it's only happened to me once in 11 months

I'm sure I've seen refills but I've always used the cheap strips and the glow app. Much cheaper and gets the same result. I think last time I paid £6 or £7 for 60 tests (and still have about 40 sat in the cupboard no longer needed)

Second cycle using it the first time (although had been ttc for years ) and then first cycle the second time (at 40) when I was only tracking to check if ovulating as still breastfeeding, and totally did not expect to get pregnant as it had been such a long struggle the first time and being much older.

The reviews seem very positive so I might bite the bullet and give it a go. I do not have regular periods at all so have no idea when I would ovulate, thought these would be perfect x

No you can't. Make sure you don't mix your holders up. I think these tests are brilliant btw. All my pregnancies I used them.

I thought I read that you could change the battery so presumed it was reusable.

This makes more sense. How long did you have to track for @greytminds before falling pregnant? X

@Daisy545 afraid so. I think they work well but they only last one cycle - once you hit peak the stick won't work again. You could use ICs until you get to within your window then switch?

Actually the problem is the other way round - the test can only be used for a single month, then you need to buy another test. So end up wasting tons of testing strips as most people don’t need to test for 20 days to get to their peak.

Having said that, I conceived using them so I would still recommend!
