Chemical pregnancy? Help!

Hi everyone I'm currently having what I suspect is a chemical pregnancy - started spotting brown on Monday after BFP and being one day late for period. Had pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, light headedness etc up to Tuesday mid day and then it all stopped. My lines were getting darker up to Tuesday on a frer (negative clear blue digi later ok tuesday) then from Wednesday the tests were a bit fainter and then stayed the same. Yesterday I started red/dark red bleeding with terrible cramps. The cruel thing aS that just before the bleeding I had took a frer and it was getting fainter ever so slightly but for the first time I got a pregnant 1-2 weeks on the clear blue Sad. I just want to know anyone else experience with this and does this sound like a typical chemical pregnancy? Has anyone had one and went on to quickly have another successful preganncy ? Did anyone take anything such as progesterone to help? What bloods should I be asking the Dr to run ? I also have an under active thyroid. Any help would be really appreciated!

@spinksy9 😂😂 this has actually just made my day, I mean I'm so happy it wasn't me doing that, although now you'd said that I do need to go to tesco later 🙈 sorry, I shouldn't laugh!! How many weeks are you (just so I can work out when to avoid going hahhahaha)

Spinksy9 · 18/08/2020 11:52

@Welliedays becareful what you say! Last week I told a friend I just didn't feel pregnant. Today I vomited in tesco 🤢🤣

Welliedays · 18/08/2020 09:35

Thank you @morgane777, I hope so too, but I'm feeling very symptomless again today!

Morgane777 · 17/08/2020 20:42

@Mamainmaking1 baby aspirin is low dose aspirin. I take 81 mg daily (as @Boc86 says). I started last month and haven't stopped since. You should be careful with alcohol and I take it with food (otherwise is not easy on your stomach).
@Welliedays I hope this BFP is the good one for you!

Boc86 · 17/08/2020 17:25

@Mamainmaking1 my progesterone is 18.4 it should be over 30
I’m on baby aspirin i snap a dispersible 300mg in 1/4 so 75mg, it’s supposed to be 81mg
I take vit c, d, b6 and complex with the aspirin and Seven seas trying for a baby it’s ridiculous 🙄

indecisivewoman81 · 17/08/2020 15:52

@mamainmaking1 things all semi okay here. Tiny bit of brown on knickers again today ?one small spot) no idea why this is. I would have though that if I was going to have a chemical it would have happened by nOw but who knows. Plan on testing again at end of the week.

Felt very nauseas again last night and this morning. Like travel sick

Welliedays · 17/08/2020 14:46

I'm cd24 and got my BFP yesterday (although I'm not getting my hopes up just yet). AF is due on Thursday so I'll feel happier a week today if I've not had any bleeding. I only tested as I had a few symptoms but wanted to mentally prepare myself for a negative.. And then it ended up positive!!

Littlebee1990 · 17/08/2020 14:29

Hey Everyone!
CD11 for me.. hoping to be in my fertile week by end of this week 🤞🏼
I have been taking folic acid and also vitamin D but nothing else. My apps say AF is due 7th September.. we are away on a staycation with a group of friends on 3-13th and I can’t decide if you take a test with us or not...

Mamainmaking1 · 17/08/2020 14:18

@Morgane777 what is baby aspirin? I had 75mg asprin is that too high? When do you start taking the asprin?
Also, see the vitamin D, do you take it on top of the vitamin d in your prenatal? What dosage do you take? @GanderousGoose yes we will definatly keep updated, really hope this is a good month for us!!! Last month I was so busy and the days flew by without me really thinking about them - I don't feel the same this month I feel like every day I am conscious of what stage I am at so feel this month may drag 🙈

GanderousGoose · 17/08/2020 13:53

Hi everyone - CD10 for me. Will definitely keep you all posted and would love to hear from all of you too about how things go! I'm trying not to be too hopeful, esp given my age...

Morgane777 · 17/08/2020 13:46

Hi @Mamainmaking1
I'm on cycle day 6 today, so not much happening for me yet. My last AF, which was my second chemical, was so painful! I've never experienced that pain before! Has anyone experienced painful AF when is a chemical? Sad
I started taking baby aspirin last month and I've been taking Coq10 also (Ubiquinol, which is absorbed better by the body).
I also take prenatal vitamins and vitamin D. Grin

Mamainmaking1 · 17/08/2020 12:25

How is everyone doing at this stage of the cycle? @Welliedays @GanderousGoose @Littlebee1990 @Morgane777

So sorry to hear about AF @Boc86 but really glad you got to bottom of potential problem with the Dr and they have agreed to give you progesterone. What were your levels if you don't mind me asking? I often worry my progesterone may be low as I spot for 2 days before AF every month which I think I read somewhere could be a sign.

Who on here takes asprin? (Or Intending to take asprin). Can you advise me on what dosage you take and when you start it?

Is anyone taking any supplements to try and help prevent further chemicals? I have read about a few different things - coq10, calc flur, vitamin b and vitamin d etc and I don't know where to start. I would also like something to help thicken my lining (I ovulate early on day 12 approx).

Perhaps @Wearewaiting @Spinksy9 you could advise if you took anything additional or changed anything before geting your most recent BFP?

@indecisivewoman81 I hope things are continuing to work out for you Smile

OP posts:
Boc86 · 16/08/2020 19:20

@Mamainmaking1 I came on with absolutely no BFP so just didn’t even catch this month
I now have to wait till November to try again due to commitments next year

My bloods showed low progesterone so I’ll have to start progesterone suppositories :(

indecisivewoman81 · 16/08/2020 19:15

@Mamainmaking1 thank you for the reply. I haven't got any more cheap tests left just the digital conception one (which I'm holding out to use end of next week). I'm only very early on 4 weeks 4 days I think. It's just a waiting game and I know that really. I was very nauseas last night and had woke up starving Saturday morning. Both these things I remember from before (I have two children age 10 and 7). I don't feel too bad today, apart from having a headache and a bit of heartburn (but this could be anything).

I will just have to wait and see. I need to learn patience!

Mamainmaking1 · 16/08/2020 18:14

@Boc86 how are you getting on ? Any sign of AF or are you still waiting to see how this month went? How did you get on at your bloods?

OP posts:
Mamainmaking1 · 16/08/2020 18:13

@indecisivewoman81 sorry to hear about your situation. It is so hard to tell because when it was happening to me I kept reading how normal it was to be spotting at that time and as long as it wasn't red etc it was fine. But I had got the positive on the Monday and by Tuesday pm I had felt a real decline in my pregnancy symptoms - I wasn't as nauseous , chest wasn't sore etc. Then my lines weren't getting any darker on the frer so that also had me prepared for worst - how has your line progression been? Mine never became a strong blazing positive - it became a visable positive only. Achey can also be caused by your uterus getting ready for baby - at this stage it is a waiting game how many weeks?

indecisivewoman81 · 16/08/2020 15:41

Hello

I'm sorry to read that you have all suffered with chemical pregnancies I totally get how devastating that can be when you are wanting something so badly.

I got my BFP on Wednesday and then a 1-2 weeks on Friday with a clear blue. However I have spotted every day. No major stomach cramps sometimes it feels a bit achey.

Do you think this will turn into a chemical? I know really only time will tell and I plan to do another clear blue digital next week but not sure when, to see if there dates change

Boc86 · 12/08/2020 14:04

So sorry @Welliedays and @Morgane777 they’re so so awful

@Mamainmaking1 I’m positive I’m out
I’m due on in 2 days and have my pre AF heavy uterus crampy feeling
I’m 100% sure I’ll start wiping brown Friday at 9dpo
Stupid short LP :( then I get about 5 days of that before the red flow starts, what the heck

Progesterone bloods this afternoon, I feel like I know they’re going to come back too low :(

Welliedays · 12/08/2020 13:28

@mamainmaking1 I found them really unhelpful too tbh. They got my weeks wrong too so that hasn't helped, I know they can't do anything before 6 weeks as they can't detect a heartbeat until then, but still weren't any use! I treated the first day of the bleed as day 1 of my cycle and then started dtd was it was over - which also coincided with my wedding day, so we had a busy honeymoon 😂 and now I'm half way through the tww. I think, from how my body is that I did ovulate last week around when I thought I should.. But I think I'll need to start doing tests to know for sure. We are going to have to stop trying of next month doesn't work and then try again from probably May onwards, so really hoping to get a sticky one this time or next!

I keep trying to remmeber what my symptoms were last time, but then of course each and every time can be different anyway!

Morgane777 · 12/08/2020 13:21

@Mamainmaking1 thanks for your support! It is indeed so sad and frustrating. It took me 11 cycles of trying to get pregnant and when I finally got pregnant twice, it ending in a chemical is really frustrating. I am trying again right away. I'm 39 years old, so no time to waste. I'm on fertility treatment, though. I'm in Montreal (Canada).
I used to spot a lot after ovulation and before AF and had a really short cycle (23 to 24 days and my luteal phase was 10 or 11 days with constant spotting). I told my doctor many times but he didn't seem to worry about it. The last few months he finally decided to give me progesterone (vaginal capsules) and my spotting stopped and well, I got pregnant (not right away, but I think that helped).
It is indeed a difficult journey, but I'm trying to keep a positive spirit and hope that next time we'll be lucky!
I read somewhere that after a chemical we are more fertile! So maybe you should continue trying and when you get the chance, talk to your doctor about your short cycle. How many days is your luteal phase?

Mamainmaking1 · 12/08/2020 12:36

@Welliedays so sorry to hear about your chemical last month they are the worst!!! So nice to have so many women coming to this chat though with their experiences and knowing we aren't the only ones. How far along where you when you had your chemical? The EPU were pretty unhelpful to me they just said they wouldn't be able to see anything so no point coming over and it could be a miscarriage but would just be a case of waiting to see. I then started heavily bleeding about an hour later so I haven't contacted them since! Do you use ovulation sticks to check when you are on your peak? I find them really helpful as mine tends to change a few days each month and they are cheap on Amazon. I use the easy @ home ones and I record them on the premom app which read thems via photo and tells you when you are low, high and peak. How long after chemical did you begin dtd to TTC? I really hope this is you and @Boc86 month - sounds like you will both be testing round the same time?

I didn't really feel any different early on last month I just noticed I wasn't moody approaching my period and then I started getting random bursts of nausea and lightheadedness but I didn't even suspect anything because it was a very busy month. It might be still early to be feeling any symptoms yet?

OP posts:
Welliedays · 12/08/2020 11:28

I had a chemical last month, after getting a positive frer two days before. We've tried again straight away, but I have no idea when my ovulation is, so whether we've been dtd when we're meant to is anyone's guess. I did do a test today to keep the EPU happy that the chemical was definitely a chemical and it was negative .. But I knew it was as I had symptoms which then completely stopped while I was bleeding. If my ovulation date is right (based on flo which is usually fairly accurate for me) I'd be about 7 or 8dpo today so I'm still holding out hope that I might get a BFP this month (but I'm not feeling the same as last month, so I'm not sure!!)

Mamainmaking1 · 12/08/2020 10:53

@Morgane777 hi of course you are very welcome!! So sorry to hear about your second chemical - it is so rubbish I think I'm only really gathering myself again now and even at that I still get twinges of frustration and disappointment so I can relate to how you are feeling! Are you going to wait to your next period comes and goes before trying again? I have just finished bleeding from the chemical and I'm now tracking ovulation as I intend to try before next period comes and goes. I haven't went to the Dr as I am afraid it will knock me of the waiting list I am on for fertility treatment - I did ring the Dr and the receptionist recorded it but i never went in for bloods to actually confirm. So annoying how many things you have to balance navigating through this. I have defo thought of going private so I may have the option of progesterone though, how did you find it? What were you progesterone levels that lead to you being given it? I think part of my problems is a short cycle and I worry my lining isn't thick enough. I had proper pregnancy symptoms so I know something defiantly started to happen but then they just eased off as I started to spot. Are you thinking of getting testing done?

Morgane777 · 11/08/2020 16:49

Hi, can I join?
I just found out I had my second chemical in a row :(
Now I'm waiting for AF to arrive and start another cycle.
I was on progesterone after ovulation both times but that didn't help anyway.
Have you ever asked your doctors what are possible causes (besides chromosomal abnormalities?)

Boc86 · 11/08/2020 12:58

@Mamainmaking1 yes I’ve heard of coq10 but haven’t looked into what it does or anything
I researched aspirin myself but the doctor agreed it couldn’t hurt
I’m 6dpo now and have my 7DPO bloods tomorrow to check my progesterone levels in case that’s the problem with my short luteul phase
Due on Friday/Saturday so will test Sunday if I haven’t come on, I’ve never got past 10dpo. Sunday would be 11dpo

Yes that’s correct with it being cd4 of your next cycle x
