Stories after 2 early miscarriages - I really need to read other people’s stories 😭😭😭

@2020mission thank you! I did my own research on the aspirin really. I asked my GP about it after the 2nd miscarriage and she said she couldn't really advise and that would be something the fertility/recurrent miscarriage clinics would discuss if it came to that.

I wasn't sure when to take it as some people only start when they get pregnant but other things i read said it can help build up a good uterine lining every month so to take it when TTC.

This month I actually had CD21 bloods taken so didn't want to start it until after that in case it affected the result or masked an issue that was there so started after that appointment. I've recently started acupuncture as well with a lady who specialises in fertility work and she asked me if I'd looked into it. She obviously can't give medical advice but said most of the women she sees who have are going to fertility clinics and having IVF have been put on it by their doctors. I couldn't find any convincing evidence that it would be harmful at such a low dose so thought it was worth a try!

@Semele5069 ohh great news you've got another BFP, wishing you all the best! did you decide to take aspirin on your own or speak to a doctor first?

Hope everything goes well and maybe talk to your GP (or another GP or specialist) about low dose aspirin and progesterone

I had two early miscarriages last year at 6 and 7 weeks. Now 30 weeks pregnant and no issues at this stage.

After my second miscarriage I found out I have a MTHFR gene mutation (look it up if you want more info) and started taking supplements to help with that as well as taking low dose aspirin and as soon as I got a positive test this time my specialist put me on progesterone pessaries until 14 weeks.

I think for sure the aspirin and progesterone made a difference for me.

I've just had a positive pregnancy test this morning! Similar situation to you- 2 early miscarriages this year so finding it hard to feel optimistic. I've started low dose aspirin since CD21 and will probably keep that going for the first trimester if I get that far! I'd love to hear how you get on as we're in a v similar situation!

Sorry to jump in, but to those who've had early miscarriages but then had a successful pregnancy, did you get help from a GP to take anything or was it just better luck with that pregnancy? I'm hoping if I get my third BFP, it will stick after having 2 chemicals, but not sure if I'm wasting my time trying without help (e.g. aspirin or progesterone...)

I’m now nearly 7 weeks *

I’ve had 3 early losses all before 6.4 weeks and awaiting recurrent miscarriage referral , my gp done bloods to check for clotting factors, anti inflammatory issues, hormone issues etc and all came back normal (so there is a lot he can test for that can be corrected like ur thyroid). I ended up being advised on low dose aspirin as my mum has clotting disorders. I got my 4th BFP and started aspirin 150mg daily and I seen a strong heart beat on my 6 weeks scan and was advised by the midwife on aspirin and I’m not 7 weeks nearly

@Semele5069 I actually started to take the aspirin while I was was TTC. I'd read that it increases blood flow to the uterus and I was having very light periods so was worried that my lining was maybe too thin? I've then taken it throughout the whole pregnancy.

@Aria2015 when did you start taking the aspirin? I bought some a while ago but wasn't sure if to start while trying TTC or just if I get a positive test again.

@Houndabouttown I started a few days after I found out I was pregnant so about 5 weeks

From memory I started to take aspirin from when we started to try again.

How soon did you start taking the aspirin? At what gestation?

I had 3 early miscarriages before going on to have ds who is now 2.5
My gp did all the tests recurrent miscarriage clinic would do and found nothing out of the ordinary.
Pregnancy with ds I went private - had just started a new job plus I needed the reassurance of more scans. The consultant who is also an NHS specialist in fetal medicine and does research on miscarriage etc recommended low dose aspirin. She said the evidence it works was increasing and although inconclusive if u didn't have a positive clotting disorder the evidence also showed that low dose aspirin was completely safe to take in pregnancy so no risk that way.
As it happens I ended up being induced early (exactly 37 weeks but they had been talking about it for 3 weeks by that point) as my placenta was failing ds had stopped growing and I was having reduced movements. ds was born very small weighing only 5lbs and he most definitely needed to be out. Due to this I have been told that if I have another one the recommendation is that I take 150mg - double what I had last time

I know it's heartbreaking op, I've had 3 miscarriages and an ectopic but I've also got 3 wonderful children so don't lose hope.

I had 2 early miscarriages and then had a perfect pregnancy with my now 11 year old. Try and stay positive

A positive tale. We had three miscarriages, went through investigation and i had a large fibroid (apparently the size of a tangerine!). Had that removed, started on a low dose of aspirin.

My fourth pregnancy was successful and she is now 7.

Give your body a rest and push for the help. For once, age was on our side as we were late thirties so started the investigation after the second. In our authority they only start to investigate after the third.

I had two early miscarriages and a presumed ectopic that resolved naturally. The after three failed pregnancies I had two years of nothing. I was in such a state of despair. While exploring IVF options, the consultant told me he didn't know why I wasn't conceiving, but the fact I had had three pregnancies was very positive because it meant I could get pregnancies.

I conceived DD at age 40, and DS was conceived when I was 43 after our first attempt. They are 8 and 5 respectively.

DH and I do still talk about those days. They were very very dark. To be on the other side is more than I could have ever imagined at the time, but here we are.

Where are you based OP?
I'm in the West Midlands and did have some tests at Birmingham Women's so I rang them the other day about parental genetic testing after two consecutive chemicals (we had a termination due to chromosomal and physical abnormalities earlier this year) and the midwife there recommended Tommy's (I'll link it below) as they recognise pregnancy loss even if it was positive tests and not officially noted by any midwives or gps yet. (I never managed to get a pregnancy confirmed through blood tests from my gp surgery, they simply won't do it.)
