@sup99 Hope AF comes and goes quickly for you 😊

@Pinkiii Wonderful that you conceived so quickly first time round, fingers crossed for that experience again. Thank you! I spent a lot of time on these forums dreaming of when I'd be TTC and could join in lol so it's all very exciting for me.

@Riviera90 Ah that's good to know! That actually sounds amazing, getting a bit of casual therapy in too!

I don't think I got my peak no, I did do a test but it was one of the cheaper ones and I didn't get a positive from it - a decent line, but not a positive. Thinking maybe tomorrow now, but we'll see! x

Riviera90 · 05/08/2020 21:01

@somanystars haha I’m exactly the same about getting up in the night! I actually haven’t found it to affect my BBT too much though! I’ve still got a very clear pattern pre and post ovulation which has been helpful.

I was in desperate need of something to help me relax too, especially during the 2WW! My acupuncturist is also a trained therapist so it’s lovely having that hour of treatment and having someone to talk to about all of this.

Did you get your peak this afternoon? X

Welcome to everyone that has just joined!

Pinkiii · 05/08/2020 18:58

@somanystars we were very blessed with dc1 and concieved on cycle 2, I have Pcos so it was a worry for me, however i was on the mini pill and my nurse told me i would be very fertile when i come off it

i’m nearly 35 now so know that time isn’t on my side and its still a worry that it might not be as
quick this time, i havent been back on the pill since dc1.

Good luck on your cycle. Its great to be able to talk about it with people who won’t understand what you’re going through

sup99 · 05/08/2020 18:48

@somanystars Thank youu! Have had it for 16 months and had a period just 2 days after removal. Hoping for AF now but super anxious💆‍♀️

somanystars · 05/08/2020 18:37

@Mrsmujic I'm kinda doing the same thing - most of my friends either don't want kids or don't want them for a good few years yet so it's nice to have someone to talk to about it all! I'm only just in FW at the moment so not very similar dates wise but fingers crossed for you!

@sup99 Exciting! How long did you have the coil in for? Hopefully your cycles will be right back to normal asap!

@Pinkiii I know what you mean, there's never going to be a "perfect" time. My DH initially wanted to wait a while longer but then sort of realised that we might not actually get pregnant right away and it could end up taking quite a while! How long were you TTC for DC1, if it's okay to ask?

Pinkiii · 05/08/2020 17:56

Hi everyone.

Joining in if you don’t mind.

First cycle, TTC dc 2.

Been debating whether this is the right time or not but i think if you ever leave it to the right time you will never concieve.

Best of luck to everyone trying this month!!

sup99 · 05/08/2020 17:54

Hello ladies.. Hope it's ok for me to join in here. Got my mirena out July 8, waiting for my AF this month and officially our first month TTC.!

Mrsmujic · 05/08/2020 17:26

Hi I hope you dont mind me joining?

im trying to find 'my group' where i can connect with ladies going through the same. Im currently 2nd cycle TTC, AF due 13/08 (or hopefully not!) i seem to have a long cycle of 35 days, i came off the pill in march, Im taking folic acid daily and had a positive OPK CD21.

Im trying not to symptom spot or take a test until af due a week today..

Anyone else with similar dates? x

somanystars · 05/08/2020 10:07

@Riviera90 Oh yeah I never thought about it being retrospective before. To be honest I think the main reason it wouldn't work for me is that I'm quite bad for getting up during the night to use the toilet (and that's pre-pregnancy, god knows how I'll be once I'm pregnant! 😅) and as far as I know that can throw it off, is that right?

Oh that sounds great! I did read somewhere yesterday that it's like, proven to be good for fertility. I think I'd be a bit nervy in case it hurt. Definitely wouldn't write off the idea completely though since god knows I could use a bit of help relaxing 🤦🏻‍♀️

Another flashing smiley today! I do think I'm going to test again this afternoon though as I have a feeling I'm close and I just want to see if I'm right haha x

Riviera90 · 04/08/2020 22:37

@somanystars I haven’t found BBT too bad! It’s nice to see your patterns each month so you get to know your cycle very well but it probably is just another thing to over analyse! And it’s only really retrospective whereas with OPKs it’s the best indicator of when you’re about to ovulate x

I’m loving acupuncture, I had it for something else years ago and found it great for that. I’ve only been going for fertility the last month and no BFP yet but I find it really relaxing and I like that it’s something I can actively do to help TTC without going down the medical route. I know she’s trying to shorten my cycle first as she said 28 days is prime for fertility so we’ll see how that goes this month!

I’ve also using clear blue digital OPK and I do think FMU works best x

somanystars · 04/08/2020 21:53

@FlorenceO Thank you! Same to you! 😊 There's a little chart in the instructions leaflet telling you when to start testing based on your average cycle length - e.g. if it's usually 28 days then start on CD8 or something like that, so it can get a feel for what your baseline is. I've seen conflicting opinions on here about whether to use FMU or not but that's what the leaflet says so that's what I've been doing! I believe once you get flashing smilies (e.g. high but not peak) you can also start testing twice a day to make sure you catch the surge but I haven't been doing that, it feels to me like it's not necessary since we know we are in FW anyway and DTD accordingly lol x

@Riviera90 Hi! I'm using OPKs as I'm sure you've seen 😊 To be honest I'm pretty intimidated by the idea of doing BBT, seems like it's quite a tricky thing to get right! But I'll maybe give it a go down the line if it doesn't seem I'm getting it right with OPKs. Intrigued by acupuncture! How do you find it? x

Riviera90 · 04/08/2020 20:23

Hi, can I join?

I’ve lost track of number of cycles TTC but it has been since July 2019, although only really started OPKs and tracking etc in December 2019.

I’m on CD1 and my fertile window is from 20th-24th August with AF due on 5th September.

Would love to hear what everyone else is doing! I’m using BBT, OPKs and tracking CM to pinpoint ovulation, been taking folic acid since last September and recently started taking omega 3 and calcium + vit D. I’m also trying acupuncture and using preseed.

Hopefully this will be a lucky thread for all of us! X

FlorenceO · 04/08/2020 20:05

Oooh good luck @somanystars I hope this is your month! Thanks for the advice will look at clear blue opks - so which days do you test? I've never used one x

OP posts:
Roelav1 · 04/08/2020 19:46

I do have some strip ones - I tried one this morning and there was a second line but it was fainter than they control line so I’m really not sure 🤔 I may try another of the strip ones tomorrow morning and see what that comes up as

somanystars · 04/08/2020 19:16

@FlorenceO According to Ovia my FW starts tomorrow, but I was getting flashing smilies on the Clearblue from yesterday so I'm going to go by that! DTD today and will for the next couple of days I think.

@beckyBP I got some of the cheapy strip type OPKs as well (because I got the Clearblue very cheap as it was going out of date soon so wanted something to compare it to) and they are definitely more tricky! Feels like they take ages to "load"! 🤣

@Roelav1 Despite what I've just said above, could you maybe get your hands on a cheapy one? Just as a sort of second opinion?

FlorenceO · 04/08/2020 19:13

I'm thinking of ordering some opks but have no experience using them in the past - what ones do you recommend x

OP posts:
beckyBP · 04/08/2020 18:59

@Roelav1 honestly.. it completely baffles me. I don't know why I dont get it.. but it don't 😂

Roelav1 · 04/08/2020 18:33

I’m not sure if I messed it up as the test says it uses the first test to establish baseline levels and then you are supposed to keep testing everyday until you see high or peak fertility. I didn’t test for two days as didn’t think I needed to and then tested today and it’s come back as peak? Just wondering if it’s detected a ‘surge’ in LH because I tested too early before and my levels have since gone up. Once you’ve got the peak result you can’t test again for another 48 hrs. God this is so confusing 😂

beckyBP · 04/08/2020 18:07

@somanystars we probably are!! 😂 ah well done. You're all prepared!

@FlorenceO my window differs on all apps
Flo is 3rd- 8th

Femometer is 2nd - 8th
Ovia is 5th - 10th

I'm on day 2 of OPKs (just waiting for it to.. load?! Can't think of the word 😂)

Hey @Roelav1 I think it must be. Keep doing it. I'm thinking to get a CB one because I just don't understand the ones I've got!

Roelav1 · 04/08/2020 17:01

Hi everyone I am new here! I’m ttc this month. I brought the clear blue advanced ovulation test. I wanted to practise using it before I actually started testing properly so took a test sat evening the result was low fertility which I expected. I started testing again this morning as per the instructions that came with the test based on length of my shortest cycle in the last few months, and to my surprise got a peak fertility result. Is this accurate, I am quite early on in my cycle (period finished 4 days ago) so unsure if it’s accurate or not? Any advice welcome 😊

FlorenceO · 04/08/2020 16:48

Hello to all new to the thread since my last comment and welcome - of course you can all join! We are all in this ttc boat together and it's great to have so many on board, I'm hoping we will all be joining a bfp thread together in September!
I'm not using any opks or temp charting. Just going to check cervical mucus for now. My cycles are usually regular but I've not been off the pill long.
When's everyones fertile window and when are you planning to dtd? X

OP posts:
somanystars · 04/08/2020 14:55

@beckyBP Ah thank you! I think we might both be on another thread talking about this 😅 I just went and got some CoQ10 and omega 3 from Savers haha, hopefully they'll work just the same! Plus some gummy multivitamins for DH as we were talking this morning about how we wished they did them for adults and then I swiftly realised they did 😂

@Plm28 hi and welcome 😊 Where are you in your cycle just now?

Plm28 · 04/08/2020 14:43

Hi ladies can I join? August will be my 2nd cycle. TTC baby number one

beckyBP · 04/08/2020 14:29

@somanystars that's actually a really smart idea!

Yes of course! This is what I'm taking. I read about them on this blog.. www.luisazissman.co.uk/?p=647

Xx

TTC AUGUST (Fertile window mid august!)
somanystars · 04/08/2020 10:45

@beckyBP I had a couple of cycles before TTC where I wasn't using hormonal contraception to try and get used to what my body does in a cycle where I haven't conceived but I just know I'll be obsessed anyway when the time comes 😅 I noticed you mentioned that you're taking vitamins etc, do you mind if I ask which ones? x
