As soon as AF disappears, which will be soon 🤞 me & my partner will be ttc :)
I've been keeping an eye on my cycles for a little while using the flo app & have been taking pregnacare.
Is there anything else we should know or do to help prepare ourselves? :)
Exited to go on this roller coaster of a journey & as no one knows of our plans would be lovely to hear off people ttc too :) xx

@maudesid OH MY GOODNESS!!!! CONGRATULATIONS ❤️❤️❤️ Honestly - I was the same could barely speak. The surprise I was going to do for my DH went out of the window as soon as I saw the positive test!!! It took me about a week for it to sink in and actually be able to talk a bit about it. I’m still a bit on edge and don’t want to talk about it all the time! SO WEIRD!!?!? Don’t know if it hormones or nerves or what!! So happy for you!!!!! Just let it sink in.. it defo takes a while xxxxxxxx

Happythoughts91 · 23/10/2020 19:11

Hi girls, I hope you don’t me joining in. I’ve literally just joined Mums Net and have read through every post on this thread right from the start.

Congratulations @maudesid and @RLou3 how very exciting!!

And to the rest of you girls I’ve loved reading your posts and finding reassurance we’re all on this journey together.

I hope you don’t mind me joining in? I have no one else really to talk to it all about. Xxx

Amy259 · 23/10/2020 18:07

@maudesid yeah try to hold off telling family so you can surprise them like you’ve dreamt of ♥️ Whereabouts are you based? Hopefully over the next few weeks/months things will change for partners when it comes to hospital visits, and you can always book private scans where DH can go with you (a friend went privately at 11 weeks with DH so that she knew going into her 12 scan alone everything was likely to be absolute fine, which I thought was a great idea). By the time baby is here hopefully this pandemic will be a memory!

maudesid · 23/10/2020 18:00

@Amy259 thank you, the tears have come reading your message you are officially the first person to know...how mad is the 21st century haha. I almost rang my mom in a panic and thought no because you've dreamed of surprising her just let it sink in. I will tell DH as soon as he's home no idea how people keep it secret for days planning things! I just suddenly feel so scared that we're doing this during a pandemic but I knew that when we started trying..

Amy259 · 23/10/2020 17:53

@maudesid okay so firstly breeeeeathe!! Totally normal to get freaked out when you so didn’t expect it!! You’re allowed to be all over the place!
Once it sinks in you’ll be absolutely over the moon, I have no doubt! And you can still do your lovely surprise for DH - don’t let your initial holy shit moment ruin that for you, because I’m sure once you’ve chatted it through and it’s sunk in you’ll be dying to have all those lovely moments!! Congratulations my girl ♥️♥️

maudesid · 23/10/2020 17:51

@RLou3 any advice? This isn't how I thought I'd react!

maudesid · 23/10/2020 17:41

Oh my god girls, I just bought a clear blue in Sainsburys because I saw it, decided to just take it 'knowing it would be negative'...Jesus fucking christ it says pregnant 1-2 weeks! Sorry to swear I don't know what to do with myself I thought I'd cry and feel elated when I got a bfp come up with a cute way of telling DH. Nope I feel totally sick I'm shaking no tears and DH is at the pub!!!! Oh my god this cannot be real, I've been told for 10 years I'd struggle to get pregnant I need to talk to someone!

maudesid · 23/10/2020 16:00

@Amy259 oh I know! It's like we know how bad it is for us but we have to look anyway. Still no AF for you? I feel very PMS like today so feel like she'll be here in a few days although I usually have spotting for a while before and none yet.

@rosiej95 sorry you didn't manage to dtd much, that was us last month except pretty much nowhere near ovulation. Hopefully you still got in the window if it was just after ovulation you should be ok. It's really hard not to get crazy over it it's one thing we basically have no control over and have to leave to nature which is awful!

Amy259 · 23/10/2020 09:55

@rosiej95 that’s good that you don’t have to tell him because you dtd often enough, I definitely don’t have that luxury 😂 I can just imagine his face if I told him we were just going to dtd every other day for the rest of the cycle after af stopped!!
I know, we spend so many years trying not to get pregnant then discover that in fact it’s a fine art 🙈 I’m sure it’s totally normal to have months that are more stressy than others, maybe if you don’t have as busy a time or other stuff keeping you occupied? I’m sure it’ll pass and you won’t just stay crazy now!!

rosiej95 · 23/10/2020 09:38

@Amy259 I don't think so, I don't tell him when my predicted ovulation days are either & we usually dtd fairly often anyway.
I think it's a case of he genuinely doesn't realise all this stuff to do with ovulation.
We were literally brought up with, You have sex once & you'll be pregnant 🙈😂

It doesn't help cause for some reason I'm less chilled out this month & feeling a little crazy with it all.

Amy259 · 23/10/2020 09:18

@maudesid I know, imagine we didn’t have apps to obsess over, google to look up everything and anything, social media showing us that every female friend, celeb or influencer seems to be the most fertile human on the planet... I think it would all be much less stressful! Doesn’t stop me looking at the app, google, social media though..😂

@rosiej95 that’s so annoying. I’ve had this a couple of times with DH - he wants to know so he doesn’t miss it but then feels pressured so doesn’t want to know 🙈 he’s getting better though, and we just try to dtd more anyway so that I don’t have to tell him we have to now. Could it be a pressure thing?

rosiej95 · 23/10/2020 08:14

So haven't managed to dtd as much as I would have liked. Only managed it once & that was the day after my predicted ovulation. I'm actually pretty peeved off this month cause no matter how many times I say to my BF there is only a short window I don't think he fully gets it? 😔 & he's either fell asleep or been to tired. I even gave him the heads up at the start of the month like be prepared! 🙈
So I've now ordered clear blue ovulation sticks for next month. (Can tell I'm not very hopeful 😂)

@Amy259 you're not out until AF!!

@maudesid totally know what you mean about the apps. If kind of makes you obsessed!

Thanks doll. I know it really isn't that long but like you say, it's the not knowing when. When starting this journey I was convinced it would have happened by now.

Anyway positive thoughts.. 💕

maudesid · 22/10/2020 18:46

@Amy259 yes I did haha I kind of wish apps didn't exist so we had no choice but to guess ovulation! Don't count yourself out yet! I'm 10dpo and also no signs of af (usually spotting by now) or BFP..won't test until it's late.
@beckyBP sorry it's cycle 5 for you. I saw something helpful the other day from a lady who conceived on cycle 6, she basically said that it felt so long and she was so anxious but 6 months is completely average for healthy couples to conceive and actually a short amount of time. It's the not knowing it if will be this month or ever that makes it feel so long.

Amy259 · 22/10/2020 10:33

@beckyBP big temp drop this morning so I think she’ll be arriving today!

Yeah me too, everyone around me who has tried in the last year or so has gotten pregnant in one or two cycles and I just hoped/thought we’d be the same!

beckyBP · 22/10/2020 10:17

@Amy259 🤞🏽 no pre AF symptoms is a great sign!

Hope everyone's ok! Nearer the end of AF.. we go again 😂 this is cycle 5! I was convinced I'd be pregnant by now!

Amy259 · 21/10/2020 19:19

@maudesid did you see my NC rant earlier in the post 😂 I wouldn’t trust it at all!

I’m okay thank you.. 13dpo and currently 2 days (assuming she doesn’t suddenly appear tonight) late for af. Bfn on strips I have, but they’re standard not early, so they need 25hcg. So basically at this point I don’t have a clue! Zero symptoms for af or bfn really except really sore nipples, which I don’t regularly get for af but have once or twice, so who knows! The tests are stark white though so I’m pretty certain she’s just late. How are you doing?

maudesid · 21/10/2020 19:07

@Amy259 what dpo are you now? I know you're just ahead of me how are you doing?

I use natural cycles and this month seems to be ok but last month it suddenly moved my Ov date when AF arrived to 5 days later even though opk's had shown up earlier..quite frustrating as I think it was wrong

Waiting2BeaMama · 20/10/2020 12:27

@rosieb060 yeh I can imagine Natural Cycles making the process so much more anxious as I keep checking my dates for everything constantly. I sometimes use Flo as well, but the ov dates they give me are always so different. Going to try using ovulation tests as well to hopefully pinpoint a bit better 🤷‍♀️

rosieb060 · 20/10/2020 11:55

@Amy259 yeah! I think I'm just going to go back to trying to DTD every other day and see where that gets us.

Amy259 · 20/10/2020 11:43

@rosieb060 which would be fine if you were trying to prevent because your red days would cover ov plus two days that it’s getting wrong, but you pretty much have no chance if you dtd after ov! It’s aaaall about the day or two before, which I found NC always missed because like you it predicted o as later. It also kept predicting my af early and wouldn’t save if I adjusted it so I gave up 😂

rosieb060 · 20/10/2020 11:38

@Amy259 thank you so so much, that's really helpful! I think natural cycles is getting me wrong too- I can feel myself ovulating & have CM that suggests that too, and natural cycles consistently tells me it's two days later....

Amy259 · 20/10/2020 11:35

@rosieb060 & @Waiting2BeaMama so I have both natural cycles and the premom app, which I use with the recommended OPKs, and I’ve just cancelled by NC subscription because consistently since June it’s got my ov date wrong. I bbt as well so I can definitely pinpoint o day with that and the strips. Just a heads up if you’re not checking ov another way! I got preg last cycle (but sadly didn’t last) but I’m pretty sure I’d have missed it if I listen to natural cycles.
I guess that’s why docs say just try to dtd every other day to cover all bases.

I feel ya, Rosie - it’s mental torture!

rosieb060 · 20/10/2020 11:29

Hi there @Waiting2BeaMama! I use natural cycles too. I can't decide if I love it- sometimes I think it is the thing making me more anxious! I don't know if I'd just have a better time DTD without thinking as much as it makes me! Xx

rosieb060 · 20/10/2020 11:28

@Amy259 it's so hard. I know I need to relax but I'm just so scared that there'll be a reason it's not happening yet. What if we can't?!
