As soon as AF disappears, which will be soon 🤞 me & my partner will be ttc :)
I've been keeping an eye on my cycles for a little while using the flo app & have been taking pregnacare.
Is there anything else we should know or do to help prepare ourselves? :)
Exited to go on this roller coaster of a journey & as no one knows of our plans would be lovely to hear off people ttc too :) xx

@meganlea I use the easy@home ones and downloaded the Premom app (they work together) - it’s brilliant and hasn’t got any prediction for af or ov wrong for 4 months now because the algorithms have the added help of the OPKs, not just your data input.

I’ll attach a photo, you can get them on their own or in a set with hcg strips. I would just go for the LH strips though as the preg strips aren’t sensitive, they need levels of 25 to detect hcg (versus a FRER that only needs 6.5).

Then I used Wondfo hcg strips to detect my really early bfp because they only need hcg of 10 - and work out about 50p each instead of £5 for a FRER, so they’re good if you’re a repeat tester like me 😂

Our first month ttc our first
meganlea · 28/10/2020 18:20

@Amy259 what cheap OPKs would you recommend, do you have a link to the ones you get? There’s so many different ones on eBay!! And yeah that does make sense!! We’ve DTD this afternoon so that’s today covered if I have peaked, I guess we’ll know for sure tomorrow!

@rosiej95 urgh that’s so frustrating, time literally seems to go so slow when waiting, don’t lose hope!

rosiej95 · 28/10/2020 17:30

bfn tonight so I'm going to wait now until Sunday & test again (if I can wait that long 😂)
If the spotting I had was anything to do with implantation wouldn't it have shown up on a frer? 🤷🏻‍♀️ just wanna fast forward time to the end of the 2ww now 🙈

@beckyBP yes - it comes with applicators - so you squirt the lube into the applicator and then put applicator up and squirt it up there, then just throw applicator and use a new one each time! Defo worth a shot !! Xxxxx

beckyBP · 28/10/2020 16:18

Just trying to catch up!!

@Happythoughts91 I get you.. it's SO disheartening when AF arrives but I always feel over it quite quickly and ready to get on it again!!

Preseed.. I see a lot of preseed talk. I think I need to invest. How does it work? Like do you insert it in you?! Xx

Amy259 · 28/10/2020 15:12

@Happythoughts91 as down hearted as you feel now, I promise if af arrives after a couple of days (if not later that same day!) you’ll be ready for some comfort food, maybe some wine, and be excited for the next cycle!

@meganlea I would maybe get some cheapie OPKs - they’re a lot easier to read than the CB because it’s a gradient rather than just yes or no. You probably won’t ovulate today because you would have peaked already (so it would be static - it goes static when you peak, not when you ovulate, you’ll ovulate 12-36 hours later) but you could peak this afternoon and not know, then it’ll be static tomorrow but you wouldn’t know how long ago your peak was - does that make sense? The cb is great as confirmation but you’re better knowing exactly when you peak so your maths are more accurate so I’d get some cheap stick ones instead.

That all being said, dtd as often as you are I really wouldn’t worry!! 😂 they say every 2-3 days most of your cycle would cover it, so don’t stress too much. I only know so much about it because my DH isn’t always up for it every day so I like to make sure if I’m going to be stubborn about it it’s for a reason haha.
I also love preseed, so another vote here!

meganlea · 28/10/2020 13:05

@Amy259 I spoke way too soon, last night he fell asleep!!! And the. Woke up 2 minutes later like I’m ready now but I was turned off then and said no lol. I can be so stubborn. But we’re going to DTD as soon as he’s home from work tonight and not leave it until bed time.

@rosiej95 tell me about it! This is like hurdle 1 of motherhood out a 1000 other worries!! Fingers crossed if you end up testing today.

@Happythoughts91 don’t beat yourself up about it, just know that you did everything you possibly could, and if AF comes, have a good break from thinking about it eat whatever you want drink whatever you want for a couple of days and then prepare again. You haven’t got AF yet so I’m still hoping for you!!

Thanks for the recommendation @RLou3 I have just ordered some off eBay for £8!! Don’t usually need it but DH is getting a tad sore down there . TMI but he’s always so eager to just put it in! And wonders why he’s sore, he needs to calm down and go with the flow!!🤣 anyway at least it’s ordered.

I’ve had ANOTHER flashy face! That’s 6 days in total now. I keep googling and apparently it happens to loads of people so I’m going to keep DTD as often as I can and keep going with the tests, peak will come hopefully any day now I can feel it in my bones if it hasn’t already happened this afternoon as I have a killer headache that’s come out of no where and the line on the test this morning looked pretty strong so today could be the day! If I ovulate today would it show as a static in the morning do you think?

rosiej95 · 28/10/2020 12:04

@RLou3 I'm going to try & nip out on my lunch break at work & going to buy a few I'm only 8dpo so I'm thinking I might hold out a little.
It's so hard to not get my hopes up tho
Tbf part of me is a little like I really think we have done it this month & then the other part of me is like 😩 I'm just not so sure :(

@Happythoughts91 your not out until AF shows up ❤️ it is so hard not to stress tho I think our mind plays so many tricks when we want it so much 🥰

OP posts:
RLou3 · 28/10/2020 09:25

@Happythoughts91 honestly - don’t stress yourself, easier said than done - I know. The first month we tried I was adamant that I was pregnant, as I had every symptom going. I was even writing them down day by day! So I could look back. I honestly had every symptom. The mind is crazy. The next month I got my BFP I barely had any symptoms!! Other than yellow discharge (sorry) and stomach felt like I’d done sit-ups - which made me test as I definitely hadn’t exercised!! Other than that - no tiredness, sickness or ANYTHING!! Keep positive - it will happen xxx

@rosiej95 well we got married in August so I think they knew it would be the next thing for us. They’re so excited 🥰🥰🥰 when are you Going to test? Xx

Honestly girls - I really urge you all to use preseed lube! Both me and @maudesid used it the cycle we got our BFP (you did didn’t you 😂😂 hope I’m not making that up) such amazing reviews of people trying for AGES then using that lube and conceiving!! Xxxxxx

Happythoughts91 · 28/10/2020 08:42

Hello, I’ve just literally tested and it wasn’t my time this month. Feel a little deflated and had a tear or two. I don’t know why? I’m so silly as I know it’s my first month off the pill, and I didn’t expect it to happen. I definitely have symptoms and feel ‘weird’ but I think that’s just coming off the pill.
Atleast the wait is over now and I can try to forget about it all for a few weeks now. Xx

rosiej95 · 27/10/2020 20:59

@RLou3 How nice! Bet it was amazing telling them 😍 did they know you were ttc?
I'm going to get a frer on way home from work tomorrow
So nervous tho so I might just drag it out as long as I can 😂🙈

@Happythoughts91 you have some good will power to not to test 😊
Keep us updated 😍

@meganlea all these things we have to take into consideration 🙈
And even when we do get our bfp there's so many different things we have to avoid too 🤯😂
It's so exiting tho 🥰

OP posts:
Amy259 · 27/10/2020 18:39

@meganlea send him round here to talk to my DH, will you?! 😂

@maudesid that would be lovely, to be able to conceive without going back into a life of stressing about OPKs, bbt, cm, symptom spotting and whatever else!!

maudesid · 27/10/2020 18:37

@RLou3 the tiredness hasn't hit yet but I am getting very lightheaded especially in the morning and have been a bit nauseous! I think I'm about 4.5 weeks have you rung the dr? I'm scared I'll jinx it!

It's sinking in now, honestly Friday I thought I was going to lose my mind I was so shocked I felt ill but now I'm so happy and so worried it won't work out we haven't told anyone, will probably tell our parents this weekend..

@meganlea definitely take hope from me my cycles were so irregular I am absolutely gobsmacked that I am pregnant (even writing that looks so crazy!) I don't want to jinx it as it is so early but my cycles didn't stop me getting a bfp.

@Happythoughts91 I think I was 11dpo and did a clear blue digital which said to use from day of missed period and first thing in the morning I took it 3 days before period and at 6pm and it came up straight away! Really hope you get your bfp!

@Amy259 you will probably stop trying and get a bfp!

meganlea · 27/10/2020 18:13

Oooo @Happythoughts91 I really hope it picks something up tomorrow for you how exciting. I said I’m feeling chill but this is only my first cycle and I’m waiting for my peak atm when I’m in your shoes I’ll be a wreck I imagine!! How are you feeling atm?

@Amy259 thank you!! And honestly before TTC he was only ever up for it once every 2-3 weeks it was me always asking him for more and now he’s more eager than me to DTD so I’m enjoying it whilst I can. It’s a win win though if I don’t conceive I get more fun times if I do I get my baby 🤪. Early days still though I imagine in a few months time (hopefully it doesn’t take long but you never know) I’ll be like nooo more!!!!

Amy259 · 27/10/2020 17:46

@Happythoughts91 yeah I had cramping from about 5dpo but even “cramping” seems too strong a word, it was like flutters? Nothing like af cramps, much lighter. Vivid dreams, sore nipples, then a bit of nausea on day 11 and 12.
I normally get really obvious PMS symptoms - huge bloating, starving, sad/irritable, so it was more the absence of them that made me think something was different!

Happythoughts91 · 27/10/2020 17:18

I’m 14 days exact today from my first High and then peaked on the Friday. So I’m working it out to be 10 today and tomorrow will be 11.

Ekkk. Maybe I’ll do it in the morning. Did you have any symptoms when you got a positive? Xx

Amy259 · 27/10/2020 17:11

@Happythoughts91 Does that make you about 11dpo at the moment? Depending on implantation, a FRER could definitely pick that up - I got my obvious bfp at 11dpo. But that’s counting from ovulation, not peak - it was 13 days after my peak.

Maybe take the FRER in the morning even just to get rid of that anxious test feeling?

Happythoughts91 · 27/10/2020 16:37

I’m due AF on Friday so would be due to test then. I used OPK and had my peak exactly on day 14. Seeing as it’s my first month off the pill I feel lucky it’s not been all over the place.

I had terrible Ovulation pains, something I’ve never had before. I guess being on the pill I haven’t ovulated so wouldn’t of had them? and I’m very lucky I’ve never had AF pains or cramps.

I haven’t had no spotting. But I did feel ‘weird’ and that’s only stopped today. I can’t really describe it. A feeling still in my left side even though I had stopped ovulation and almost like a pulling feeling when stretching. And very slightly cramps again all on the left side. My boobs were really tender from ovulation. But since yesterday any ‘symptoms’ have gone. And I feel nothing and like complete normal.

I don’t a little bit of googling and saw discomfort etc can still be implantation but I’m not to sure. I feel normal time now.

We DTD every day for 11 days straight so you never know but don’t feel hopefully.

I sent my other half to the shops to get a FRER but I’m not feeling hopefully so not in a rush to test. But want to know if that’s makes sense. I know it’s our our first cycle and I have a long road ahead so don’t want to get too eager.

@meganlea Welcome I’m on my first TTC cycle too. It’s exciting but a little overwhelming but I’m just trying to be chilled hahaha

Amy259 · 27/10/2020 16:22

@Happythoughts91 what DPO are you on now, or when is af due?

@meganlea welcome! Glad the thread made you feel a bit less alone in it all and also really pleased you’re chill about it - it’s definitely sent me loopy a few times!! And well done for dtd so much, remember to keep your fluids up 😂😂

meganlea · 27/10/2020 15:33

Hi guys! Just spent my afternoon reading the whole thread and -no regrets- I feel like I know everyone already!!

@rosiej95 I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed for you. Keep us updated!

@maudesid and @RLou3 massive congratulations to you both!! What amazing news I bet it’s still taking time to sink in that it’s actually happening now! OMG. @maudesid I have long cycles like you and it worries me, but seeing you get the BFP honestly has helped calm my nerves. Also as if your partner said it feels like he’s won the lottery, when I tell you my heart BURST reading that. ❤️

Good luck to everyone else on the thread!!! I hope you all don’t mind me joining the party late!

This is my first cycle TTC, I’ve been the opposite to you guys in the sense that I really want a baby but the carrying a baby and going through labour absolutely petrifies me so I’m not in a massive rush to conceive and feeling chill at the mo but reading this whole thread has made me feel less isolated and has actually got me really excited so I hope you don’t mind me joining I think being part of this thread will do wonders for my nerves and we are all in this together!!

I’m 24 and been with DH 5 years now, he’s wanted children for sooo long and now I’m on the same wave length it just feels like the right time. My periods vary in the past year they’ve been as short as 29 days and as long as 69 days although that was at the beginning of them pandemic so I put that down to stress. They’re usually between 30-40 days. I started OPK testing from CD 12 with clear blue advanced and I’m currently on CD19 and have had 5 flashy smiley faces so far. We’ve been DTD every other day since CD6 and every day since the flashy smileys. Worried it might be too much but I can’t stop now I don’t want to miss the peak, if it ever comes! My app (I use Flo) is telling me I will ovulate on CD22 which is this Friday so I'm preparing for more flashies this week.

Apart from using OPKs I’m taking a daily folic acid, keeping fitness up and eating a little healthier. DH is taking vitamins and working out also. Read on this thread about caffeine too and he drinks that a lot whilst he’s at work so I’ll have a word tonight about cutting it down or out altogether.

I just wanna be impregnated already skip forward 9 months and have my lil baby. Let the real fun begin!

Happythoughts91 · 27/10/2020 13:04

Hey girls. I wrote on here a few day’s ago but haven’t set your chat continue as don’t get notifications. Sorry! Hope you don’t mind me joining back in.

It’s all very exciting and have loved catching up. It’s lovely to see positive stories.

I’m coming to the end off my TWW and struggling to not test. I don’t think I am this month but just want to know. It is only my first month so I know it’s very unlikely.

I’m due to test on Friday but wondering if a FRER would pick up now? Xx

RLou3 · 27/10/2020 11:28

@rosiej95 I tested about 8pm in the evening!! Get a FRER so there's no misunderstanding! Xx

Husband wants me to book an early scan for ASAP. I'm less keen - it's so weird. The stress just doesn't stop. You finally get pregnant and now you worry that it's actually all going ok... I also really don't want an internal scan. My friend had one at 6 weeks and started bleeding really bad the next day. Thankfully everything turned out ok but I know I'll probably pass out if that happens to me! 😂😂😩😩😩

Yeah honestly I've never known tiredness like this - literally CANNOT keep eyes open come 7ish! So crazy!!!

I'm so close to my family so told my mum the night we found out and then my brother, his gf and my dad all together a few days later. Mum and dad are SO excited - they all are tbh. It's just so weird that I can't feel it's properly real yet!!! Get a bit annoyed when it's all they want to talk about. I'm just a miserable old cow to be honest lol!!

I'm going to be 6 weeks this week (Thursday I think). Time is flying already!!!

I'll probably have an early scan not this weekend but the weekend after.. MAYBE... trying to build myself up to it xxxxxxx

rosiej95 · 27/10/2020 10:57

@beckyBP not usually this early before AF but not sure if my mind is playing tricks 😩
Just wish I could no for sure. 🙈
Ahh amazing! Sounds promising 🤞 😂 All this efffort were putting in we will all get our
Bfp's & won't wanna dtd, our partners will be like 🥺 😂😂

@RLou3 so I'm 7dpo today & trying to resist the urge to test today 😂 I'm going to get a test & then test tomorrow 🤞 what time of the day did you test?
Bless you, hope the tiredness passes soon for you! It's so exiting!! Are you booking an early scan or anything? :)

Amy259 · 27/10/2020 10:56

Hi ladies! Sorry for the silence, my email notifications stopped so I didn’t realise I’d missed so much!

@rosiej95 sorry if I’m just adding to the hopes up but that sounds so promising! If I got spotting at 5dpo and some cramping I’d be very hopeful. The time I got a bfp I had mild cramping all the way from 5dpo, more like flutters than big af cramps. I can wait to feel it again 😂

@rosieb060 sorry about your uti, that’s so rubbish. It’s never straight forward is it!!

@beckyBP hope you’re enjoying stepping away from tracking and just having fun with it!

@RLou3 bless you, yeah like Becky said everyone talks about the tiredness but I’m sure nothing prepares you for what it’s actually like! When’s your scan?

I’m on CD5 and don’t ovulate until around CD20 so a boring stretch for me at the mo! But we’re actually stepping back from really ttc now with this new job stuff. Not actively preventing, but should probably stop trying for a few months (and realistically avoid dtd in fw..) but that might be easier said than done 🙈 xxx

beckyBP · 27/10/2020 10:15

Hey @RLou3 bless you! People say about tiredness but I don't think you can get it until you're dealing with it. You are growing a little human so it's not a surprise you're shattered! Glad you're good though hun! How are along are you now?

Feeling good! I always feel fine during and straight after AF, almost excited to go again. Really really hoping this is the month 🤞🏽 xx
