As soon as AF disappears, which will be soon 🤞 me & my partner will be ttc :)
I've been keeping an eye on my cycles for a little while using the flo app & have been taking pregnacare.
Is there anything else we should know or do to help prepare ourselves? :)
Exited to go on this roller coaster of a journey & as no one knows of our plans would be lovely to hear off people ttc too :) xx

@beckyBP yeah def AF - early too! So can’t be a chemical. And there was only about 4 hours between the test and af so I’m sure it’s an evap line.. apparently frer are notorious for it. But if you google it, everyone blames blue dyes for it too! So unless it was really strong or digital I’d always be hesitate, especially after a week of positives with the CP. How are you this week?

I’ve just ordered the impatient women’s guide to getting pregnant book, it gets rave reviews as being quite lighthearted but informative. And I’m definitely an impatient woman trying to get pregnant 😂

beckyBP · 23/11/2020 19:37

@meganlea sorry to hear about that! Poor husband! Hope it gets sorted for you both quickly.

Sounds like the drs are being a right pain with it.. really not fair for him.

Wow @Amy259 I would have fully said that's a positive. Are you sure it's AF?

Welcome to the journey @Linny1390 try and enjoy it and enjoy the process

Hope everyone else is ok xxx

meganlea · 23/11/2020 17:10

@Amy259 Yeah it's probably best, at least you can keep things under control to a certain extent and you're well prepared and know exactly what days you're on.

@Linny1390 Hi! Welcome and good luck on your journey I hope it's a short one. :) I was the exact same as you, up until around 6 months ago I swore I wouldn't have kids because of effort, hassle, my love of uninterrupted sleep and being able to spend money on whatever I want every month! But that has all changed now, I pondered the meaning of life for a while and thought I want to experience everything there is to offer and now I can't imagine a future without kiddies in! This forum is full of women on a mission, I love it. You'll fit right in ;-)

Amy259 · 23/11/2020 16:42

@meganlea thankfully I’d be wary of any test with a line that faint just because of my chemical so I was pretty guarded.. but still got a surprise when I saw af arrived.
Yeah I’m going to go back to tracking so I know when to expect stuff. Like I’m not sure if I ov early this cycle or my luteal phase was short... so I’m going to track but won’t stress/schedule dtd because we both really hated that.

Hahaha far from treasures but yes, fairly essential!!

@Linny1390 welcome! Ha you sound just like the rest of us, so you’ll be in good company here!! Today is day 1 of my 5th cycle ttc and I’m starting to forget what it felt like not to be on this rollercoaster and feel carefree 😂

Linny1390 · 23/11/2020 16:17

Hey, may i join please?

Close friends have announced that they are pregnant and it has set something off in both my DH and myself. We're ready .. Smile

I feel like i've learnt alot by just reading through this thread, it's really opened my eyes. Thank you (Still not learnt all the acronyms though).

I'm 30 next month and I've started taking the seven seas folic acid and have been monitoring my cycle since coming off the pill in September. Never heard of SMEP before until today, i'm on CD07 so will officially be DTD from tomorrow onwards. I have OPK's in the post and due to be delivered tomorrow ..
I honestly don't recognise myself right now, a year ago i would have run a mile at the thought of getting pregnant but now it's like i'm a woman on a mission.

xxx

meganlea · 23/11/2020 16:11

@Amy259 wow I can see that line without having to zoom in or change the brightness! How deceiving are they!! I'd be so gutted seeing that then AF coming I can't imagine how you're feeling what an emotional roller coaster. Deffo stick to the cheaper ones or the blue ones I've heard are supposed to be more accurate.

Do you think you'll go back to tracking now then or just continue as you are?

And yeah I'm leaning more towards that or at least I'm hoping it's that. I'm going to spend the next few weeks running around after him, you sit down and protect those treasures of yours we need them for a baby haha. (Almost vomm'ed in my mouth calling them treasures, they definitely don't look like treasure.) xx

Amy259 · 23/11/2020 15:44

@meganlea bless him, that does sound like inflammation/pulling something if it goes away with rest and ibuprofen, rather than something more 🤞🏻. Hopefully that means it’ll heal faster! And yeah definitely still track your cycle. I didn’t last month and it actually in the end made it worse because I didn’t know when to expect anything. According to my app af is two days earlier than expected.

I’ll attach the photo but I imagine the picture quality will be shit online, but there’s a clear second line. I think I’ll be sticking to cheapies and digitals! Xx

Our first month ttc our first
meganlea · 23/11/2020 15:38

@Amy259 Yeah I know, of all places it had to be his bloody ball! Haha. Yeah he's already mentioned going to A & E but it isn't constant, if he rests enough the pain goes and with ibuprofen he doesn't feel anything so who knows what it is. I've told him it might even just be a muscle strain but he knows his own body more than me and only time will tell. For now I'm just going to focus on temping and LH testing still, even if we can't DTD this cycle I can get an idea on the day I ovulate so it's not a completely wasted cycle.

Omg really, that's honestly so shit! Those tests need banning, getting peoples hopes up like that. Hope your PMS symptoms aren't too bad, take the new few days to be sad about the situation, pig out, chill and watch some good Christmas films with your OH before getting back on the TTC hype xx

Amy259 · 23/11/2020 15:01

@meganlea I’m really sorry to hear that, what a shame for both of you. Your poor DH in pain as well as it being a pain that affects ttc. I would definitely be encouraging him to keep on at the doctors or even a trip to a&e if it’s still sore next week and they still won’t do anything.
You’re so right to put ttc on the back burner this week but I can imagine that’s sad and frustrating even if you know it’s the right thing!

I’m okay thank you - took a FRER this morning that had a pink second line but it was faint. Luckily I didn’t get my hopes up because I know they’re known for indents/evaps because I’ve just been to the loo and it looks like af is here! I might stop using first response...

meganlea · 23/11/2020 14:41

Feeling a bit fed up today. DH has a dull ache in his groin, lower back and one of his testicles are a tad swollen making it really uncomfortable for him to walk or sit down or be comfortable in any position. He went to the Drs on Monday last week and just over a phone call (because of covid) they said it could be Epididymitis and prescribed him 2 weeks of anti biotics and asked him to do a urine test to check for infections. According to the NHS website, this is quite common for people that have an STI or a UTI but UTIs are quite uncommon in men and he isn't having any problems with peeing or his bladder. Now we know it's not an STI either and the urine tests came back normal. It has been a full week and it's not changed at all if anything it's gotten more and more uncomfortable for him. Also on the NHS website, it says with anti biotics, the pain should go after a few days but it may take a the full 2 weeks to be fully recovered. He called them up today and the Dr said to wait another week to finish the meds and then wait another 2 weeks after that for it to go. But surely it shouldn't take that long when every article online including the NHS website says it should be gone a few days after the meds! We just feel like the Drs aren't taking him seriously, he's asked to go in for an examination and they've told him to wait another 3 weeks before they even have a look?! You'd think they'd want to look before dishing out anti biotics surely?? He can't even take the dog out and a day at work is really hard for him as he works half his week sometimes full days doing manual labour. I'm sad that it means we won't be able to TTC this month but his health comes first and I'm not mad at him, I'm mad at the Drs who just seem to be palming him off and possibly wrongly diagnosing him. I've told him to just finish the anti biotics and ring again next Monday if it's still the same. I'm just really hoping he gets well soon for his own sake and so we can TTC again. I'm genuinely wondering what it could be though, he's thinking the worst as his uncle had testicular cancer around his age but I've told him not to worry at all about anything like that although that thought is in the back of my mind too. Or it could be all the TTC DTD and his ball has gone in to over drive lmao, IDK. Just frustrating having to push TTC back possibly for another 5 weeks! I'm just absolutely praying that the Drs are right and the meds will kick in ASAP but I just have a feeling that that's not even what it is.

Sorry for ranting, just had to get it off my chest, I'm feeling gutted that I may have to miss a month TTC and not to mention the sexual frustration too. I think he'd still try to have sex when peak comes because he wants this just as much if not more than me, but I don't want him to do this at the expense of his health. Anyway, I'm not really posting for advice because none of us are medical experts but if anyones OH have experienced anything like this let me know!!.

Hope everyone else is okay?? Hope you're feeling okay today @Amy259 , it's not over til AF comes! xx

Amy259 · 22/11/2020 22:12

@rosiej95 not 100% sure but I think around tues/wed. I’ve felt rotten all weekend and the thought of wine made me feel sick which is verrrry unlike me 😂 and knackered but awake all night, but tests still neg so I must just be a bit unwell.

That sounds really positive! Yeah a couple more times can’t hurt! I think we should do an extra once or twice after o day from now on, maybe stop too soon. Glad you’ve enjoyed it all this month though!! Makes a nice change from us all stressing about it x

rosiej95 · 22/11/2020 22:06

@Amy259 still chance tho 🤞 when's af due?

Well.. app is saying today's ovulation day, been looking into cm and what to look out for this month & managed to dtd ALOT! so I have everything 🤞 will continue to dtd in the next few days as well tbf just incase app has it wrong.
Given it a proper good go this month & thoroughly enjoyed myself 😂🤷🏼‍♀️
Now to get through the next 2 weeks as calmly as possible 😬🙈

OP posts:
Amy259 · 21/11/2020 13:02

Hey @rosiej95! My DH is normally gubbed during the week at night so more of our dtd is either mornings or a quickie in the evening 😂 except at weekends, then it’s often night time.

I’m okay - FRER was negative this morning so I think I’m out this month. The control line wasn’t full though, it was patchy and broken? So it could be an invalid test.. either way, yet more waiting! I was so sure this month, I just feel so different.. but oh well!

rosiej95 · 21/11/2020 12:53

Hey girls how you all doing?

@Amy259 cuddle camp I like that 😂 we too enjoy a cuddle. But tbf that is partly because we usually dtd at nighttime so we both go bed after 😂

OP posts:
Amy259 · 20/11/2020 19:34

@beckyBP that’s so funny - imagine one of you loved a cuddle and the other one was like nah sorry I’m off for a shower 😂😂

Oh really? I thought sometimes you got positives later in the day early on because hcg rises so sometimes you can get it stronger at night? Oh who knows!! It’s all just too much 😂🙈 I’m definitely cramping today though so either af is coming a few days early or it’s something vaguely promising.

As a side note, I took just my FRER downstairs and hid it for the morning (so I can eventually surprise him, I don’t tell him when I’m testing) and I took it out the packet and it has the deepest indent line already!! I’ve taken a photo so I don’t confuse it with a faint second line tomorrow 🙈

beckyBP · 20/11/2020 19:18

@meganlea I've read the same thing! I think even if you O before he does it has the same affect 🤔

@Amy259 i wish I did 😂 I just want to get clean straight away! Luckily we're both exactly he same with that! This one is probably too late in the day so ignore that and just see what the FRER in the morning says 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 xxxx

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 17:38

@meganlea, @beckyBP I just did another one and it’s pretty much stark white - so maybe this morning’s was just a fluke. The cheapies I have need 25 hcg so I’ll try a FRER in the morning and that’ll clear things up! I’m sure at 10dpo they would show something if it was there x

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 14:48

@meganlea it also doesn’t hurt to O so it’s win win really 😂

We’re in the cuddle camp - I love a wee post sex cuddle or snooze!

meganlea · 20/11/2020 12:41

@Amy259 yeah try again in the morning it's still kind of early so another full day should hopefully make it a lot clearer!!

@beckyBP that made me laugh! We're usually like right, done, clean up, get back to your side of the bed, love ya, night! Now whilst TTC, if I don't O whilst DTD, he's getting kicked out straight after so I can finish, lol. Sorry....TMI girls! But I read the muscle spasms you get from an O can help the little swimmers along, I don't think there's a lot of science behind that, if any, but it doesn't hurt to try!

beckyBP · 20/11/2020 12:17

Omg @Amy259 do you have a pic? Keeping everything crossed for you. Remember it's still super early so it's ok to be faint!! Keep us up to date.

Hey @maudsid This will be my 6th cycle, just finishing AF which I find just 🤯 I honestly thought I'd be pregnant by now. Never mind.. we go again. It has been the most stressful year of my life tbh.. as I'm sure it had for many!

So sorry to hear you've had a rocky start. That's definitely not what you want but glad to hear baby is well. Hopefully by the second trimester everything will have eased for you and you'll be able to really enjoy it!

I've got to admit ladies we are NOT post DTD cuddles. Never have been! We both wash straight away which I'm obviously not doing atm and I struggle with it.

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 11:57

@maudsid that sounds like a tough ride! Really pleased to hear baby seems to be doing well even thought they’re putting you through the mill 😂 fingers crossed things start to ease up now 🤞🏻

@meganlea I’m honestly not even sure it’s legit - it was there (and pink, but faint) when I first took it, then I thought it disappeared, now it’s dry it’s faintly there again but obviously could be an evap... so I think I’ll hold off and do a FRER in the morning. I can only be 9dpo at most today, so it could go either way!

meganlea · 20/11/2020 11:37

@rosieb060 Aww they do say cuddling reduces stress massively! We already cuddle a lot but I'm going to make a conscious effort to do this straight after DTD. Even if it doesn't work, who doesn't love a good hug :)

Ahhh @Amy259 that is amazing and sounds promising! They did say you'd be more fertile this month didn't they so hopefully this is it :D Keep us updated, are you going to wait until tomorrow to retest or another cheeky one this evening? I don't think I'd be able to wait!

Aww @maudsid it doesn't sound like you're having a good time, I hope you're not in too much pain/discomfort, plenty of self care and pamper time and I hope it eases up super fast so you can get back to enjoying carrying. xx

maudsid · 20/11/2020 09:02

@Amy259 that sounds promising, I will cross everything for you this is your month!
@beckyBP where are you in your cycle now? Thinking of you all all the time!
It's been a bit of a challenge to be honest, I have been in and out of hospital with suspected ectopic and then possible pelvic infection both ruled out but the pain has been crippling. They think it is my endometriosis tearing and previous pelvic fractures under pressure (Yay!) also on two different meds for nausea as I lost 8lbs in a week! So not exactly what I had in mind for pregnancy..however I am 8 weeks now and two early scans show baby is doing well despite me not so much haha. Hoping for an ease up in symptoms asap!

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 08:53

Morning ladies, how are we all?

@rosieb060 reading about how you guys approached this cycle is the best thing ever - how lovely that your got your bfp the month you just enjoyed each other. Love that! How are you feeling?

@CLP86 I use cheapie OPKs which are much more accurate in pinpointing your peak, but confirm with the CB digital. I’m sure it was this thread that we chatted about it but I’m not 100%.. basically CB always tells me I peak about a day late because it can only be done first thing. It still gives you a fair idea though! Just don’t wait for the static smiley - start bd when it’s flashing.

@maudsid how are you??

Well @meganlea & @beckyBP I caved and tested today on a cheapie.. and there’s definitely the faintest (and I mean FAINT!) of second lines. I won’t be getting my hopes up just yet, but I’ll definitely be testing again tomorrow!

beckyBP · 19/11/2020 14:08

Massive congratulations again @rosieb060 keep us updated.

Think it's just @rosieb060 so far @maudsid how are you doing? Xxx
