Hey ladies,

Thought I'd start a new thread for anyone new to this like me 🙋🏼‍♀️

We're TTC after a change of plans when COVID postponed our wedding 🙄

Currently cycle 1 of TTC WITH AF due in 3 days.. I think I can feel it coming tbh.

Didn't use any form of ovulation tracker other than Flo (which I've used to track period for years) this cycle.

@ER20 on the bright side it would be great if you got pregnant without actually having to try!

AF is due on the 9th for me. I’m thinking of doing my first test this Friday just to see if it shows anything yet.

ER20 · 02/09/2020 08:48

Hey everyone,

Got married in July, decided we would start trying after my September period.

28 day cycle, 6 day period.

Often no obvious signs of ovulation, sometimes a change in discharge and sex drive but some months nothing.

Had unprotected sex on day 8 and 9 of my cycle, assumed safe as would ovulate around the standard 14 days but from looking online actually ovulating around 14 days isn't always the case - naive I know! Then if sperm can stay alive around 5 days after then there’s every chance... Wasn’t actively trying then but not being careful and have use the pull out method since.

Due my period on the 10th of September but yesterday had some light spotting, just one lot and that’s it since. I'm extremely tired (in bed for 9pm and falling asleep on the sofa!), headache severe back ache and feel nauseous.

Way too early to test..

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 02/09/2020 08:27

Thanks @Plm28! I did wonder whether my body is still adjusting, I've no idea what my periods are like anymore and I'm basing any knowledge on my cycle of how it was when I was 18! If it's not here by the weekend I'll test then as it'll be about a week late. Hope everyone else is doing well Smile

Plm28 · 01/09/2020 15:10

@AtLeastThreeDrinks welcome and good luck :) my tracker apps told me last month my period was late got me a bit excited however my cycles just haven’t gone back into normal

hereforallthehelp · 01/09/2020 13:22

Hello! Hope I can join in on here after reading for a few months. Tried without tracking anything for the past few months (As everyone told me how easy it is and to just let it happen) but nothing did! So I ordered OPKs and Clearblue Ovulation tracker and got a static smiley this morning - just so happy to see that at this moment in time! Fingers crossed!

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 01/09/2020 13:19

Hi all, hope I'm not too late to join! I'm the same as @Plm28, came off the pill at the end of June after a decade on it. I'm using a period tracker (Clue) but not tracking ovulation, although according to Clue my period is now four days late. I feel too scared to test! I keep thinking my period will arrive, although my cycles were always regular pre-pill. I think I'm nervous as we weren't really actively trying this month and I've been out and drinking! If AF doesn't show tomorrow I think it'll be time to test.

PinkPlantCase · 01/09/2020 10:10

@Meg87 I hope the doctor can offer you some insight, though I imagine it might be just a wait and see 😏

Have you been able to talk to anyone IRL about it all? It can be all quite isolating can’t it.

I’m 6DPO and and absolutely terrible at the 2 week wait. My periods due on the 9th so could technically test on the 4th with an early response test.

I’ve been feeling quite sicky, I don’t know if it’s a pregnancy symptom or just my mind playing tricks 😖

Meg87 · 31/08/2020 10:04

How's everyone doing? I did a pregnancy test yesterday and it's now negative - crap! My bleeding is really light now, I'm just confused as the amount of blood I've lost in total is quite a bit less than a normal period, but I'd be expecting it to be at least as much?
I'll phone the doctor tomorrow but not sure they'll be able to do/say much.
This TTC business is a bit of a headfuck isn't it.

Sunshine2243 · 29/08/2020 11:57

@PinkPlantCase Lovely glad it was a really positive experience for your at the Dr's, I think in 'normal' times I would have gone straight away but worry they wouldn't think it important now...
Thats good to know, we will just continue to DTD throughout the month to break up the waiting around time haha!

@Meg87 I hope you are OK and the docs can help you figure it out x

Hi @PinkPlantCase, I'm still pretty confused to be honest Confused So, my miniscule amount of brown blood on Wednesday/Thursday turned into heavier red blood on Thursday/Friday (quite a bit lighter than the first couple of days of my period, and no lumps/clots but near enough filling up a sanitary towel amount), accompanied by period-like cramps - ouch, and a loss of the pregnancy symptoms I was previously experiencing. So, doesn't sound good! Though the bleeding has really reduced now. I knew it couldn't be as easy as getting pregnant on our first cycle trying!
I'll phone the doctor on Monday.
I feel like I've been a bit all over the place these last few days.

PinkPlantCase · 29/08/2020 10:06

@Sunshine2243 I spoke to the doctor because I needed to manage the medication I take and understand what I can carry on taking.

It was a really happy conversation tbh 😁 I’ve worked with this GP for years to try and manage chronic pain and it was lovely to speak about something so hopeful.

We’ve carried on DTD in the TWW and will take a test if my periods late. Though tests can work earlier than that.

To give implantation the best chance I have stopped drinking alcohol and I don’t drink caffeinated drinks anyway. Though of course people who do these do still get pregnant!

@Meg87 how have you been? How everything’s still going okay.

Sunshine2243 · 28/08/2020 23:50

Love this chat! New here will try some of the abbreviations!

Did anyone go to docs for advice on TTC in early days? Or did you just start trying?

In the TWW are we supposed to not have any intercourse and just wait to do a pregnancy test or get AF? or is it OK to still do it haha?!

Thanks xx

beckyBP · 27/08/2020 21:34

Congratulations @Meg87 take care of yourself and take it easy 🤞🏽🤞🏽 for you x

Meg87 · 26/08/2020 21:37

Thank you @PinkPlantCase Smile yeah that's why I'm a bit worried - I know you can get implantation bleeding but it must have already implanted, so why the bleeding?

I've definitely got myself into a mindset of it not sticking. Every time I go to the toilet now I'm expecting there to be more blood, so I'm finding it quite easy not telling people! Once it seems a bit more definite I think it will be a struggle. I've been trying to decide at what stage I'll tell my parents, and I've no idea!

PinkPlantCase · 26/08/2020 21:28

@Meg87 Oh congratulations!! Hurray one of us us made it 🤣🤣

I think small amounts of bleeding can be normal, it couldn’t have been implantation bleed as I think the embryo has to implant before you can get a positive test. Fingers crossed for you!

How have you got on with not telling people? I’m going to find it so hard to not tell everyone when we finally do get a positive test.

Meg87 · 26/08/2020 21:23

My fingers are crossed for you @PinkPlantCase. The days just before ovulation are meant to be your most fertile so you're in with a good chance! Grin

I have some news... I took a test earlier and saw a line! Though at exactly the same time as taking the test I bled a bit! So confused. That was about 7 hours now and nothing since so I'm trying to stay optimistic...

PinkPlantCase · 26/08/2020 21:11

I’m really looking forward to someone on this thread having some news, it can’t take us all forever 😂

We managed to DTD the day before ovulation in the end so I now have EVERYTHING crossed.

doublecheeseburgermediumfries · 25/08/2020 19:12

@beckyBP No definitely not a BFP unfortunately! I had flashy smileys at the back end of July but didn't get a static smiley (again🙄). I just get these horrible long cycles sometimes! My longest one was in Jan/Feb which was 45 days so if AF doesn't arrive today/tomorrow/the day after I might beat my personal record 🥳

I don't think men get it at all. I might try not sharing when it's ovulation time next cycle! Right now he doesn't deserve the excitement of seeing a flashy smiley face!! Mine thinks this is going to be a walk in the park! A breeze! There's always next month! 44 days? That's not too bad how long should they be?
Pal, I am a ticking time bomb of hormones right now do not say that's too bad!

Fingers crossed for you @Max31, it might have been too early maybe? Have you tested since?

beckyBP · 25/08/2020 16:10

Thanks ladies! It really is so hard isn't it!

@doublecheeseburgermediumfries I'm fine now! Thanks for asking. When AF arrives I'm gutted but now I'm excited for cycle 3 TTC! Wow! That's a long cycle. Could it be a BFP?

@PinkPlantCase ah how frustrating for you. It's so annoying when you just need him to perform! Poor men.. I bet they think we're all crazy 🤪

I think we all have this idea of how we would like our babies to be conceived and then when AF comes for the first time in you're like.. I don't care how just get me pregnant 😂🙈

I agree with you @Meg87 about maybe not telling him when you're ovulating!

Welcome @Max31 that does sound like early symptoms. What test did you use? It sucks about the wedding doesn't it, we've just postponed for the 2nd time and I have no idea when we'll be rebooking. TTC has become my priority xx

Max31 · 25/08/2020 11:33

Ahhhh such a great group! I’m on the postponed wedding bandwagon too. Although I’m actually quite surprised at how many girls are squeezing babies in before their wedding haha. Not in a bad way it’s just fitting into that dress isn’t it!

Our wedding was supposed to be in July but we’ve pushed it to August next year - not TTC but I’m so broody haha. We said we would start trying this year after the wedding but now it’s moved to next year we agreed to wait until after August 2021. Although I keep hinting I’d be happy if we had one now Wink

HOWEVER, I’m incredibly late for my period this month. Usually I’m only on a 26-27 day cycle and it’s now cd 32 and no sign (I think?!) of AF. Tested on Sunday and it was a BFN, today I’ve had the tiniest bit of brown discharge this morning but nothing more. Usually I start bleeding soon after. Really odd! Had cramps for about a week now but havent has any of my usual pms this month. Bit annoyed this has happened as I was happy to wait until next year and now this has got me really hoping there’s going to be a baby on the way. And if AF shows I think I’ll be so disappointed. Oh well! Fingers crossed for everybody waiting! Xx

PinkPlantCase · 25/08/2020 09:34

I’m also trying hard not to be a dick about it 😂

PinkPlantCase · 25/08/2020 09:32

@Meg87 I think I might not track ovulation next month, I’d don’t think I could track it and not tell him. It’s so frustrating that we have to wait another month to try again if it hasn’t worked this time.

The problem is that we only normally have sex once a week, occasionally twice so if we carried on as normal and completely took the pressure off it would take us ages to conceive especially if I wasn’t tracking my cycle.

I have suggested the cup and syringe idea... I know it’s still early days but I don’t see the point in waiting until we’re months down the line and then going for the cup when we could do it this month and give ourselves the best chance.

Meg87 · 25/08/2020 08:58

@PinkPlantCase that does sound so frustrating, and I can really relate. Sex between me and DP has become completely different while TTC, and not in a good way! It feels like we're having to do it because the time is right, rather than wanting to do it.

Do you tell your DH when you're coming up to ovulation? Just wondering if he'd find it easier if he was oblivious to where you are in your cycle?

PinkPlantCase · 25/08/2020 00:01

Awh how annoying @beckyBP 😕 still new cycle and all.

We’ve found this month quite frustrating. I’m due to ovulate tomorrow and DH has started getting performance anxiety. He won’t finish or can’t keep it up. And it is doing my head in!!!

We did it 3 days before ovulation as thankful I’m ovulating early this month so we were DTD when there was less pressure.

It so annoying when tomorrow is literally the last day for a whole month. Ive suggested watching something to get us in the mood but he thinks baby making should be a magical affair 🙄

I don’t really care if it’s magical I just want to get pregnant.
