5 failed rounds of IVF and I'm bloody preggers!!!!

Oh my god. I just have to tell SOMEONE.

We have had 5 failed rounds of IVF, the last one failed last year. Spent tens of thousands of pounds to no avail.

My period was late (which is standard really, it's all over the place at the moment) and I thought I'd just do a test so I could put the thought of being pregnant out of my mind and carry on waiting for AF to turn up.

And fuck me it was positive (excuse the language!!). I'm literally beside myself!! I have never had a BFP and was told to stop IVF, there was nothing more they could do.

It's very early, so praying all goes ok, but this is more than I've ever had before.

YAY!!!!!

jemimafuddleduck · 28/07/2020 17:43

Hi all! Thanks so much for checking in. You chose a good day to do it as it was my scan day today! I've been so worried an anxious but the little bean was in there, doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing. I saw the heartbeat flickering away which was amazing. Currently 6+6.
Thanks so much for all your positive thoughts and well wishes x

Have you booked a scan just being nosey so I can check in on you on the day. It's such a lovely story and so lovely that you have chosen to just enjoy every bit of it, which is a hard thing to do.

Thinking of you @jemimafuddleduck hope you're all well.

jemimafuddleduck · 17/07/2020 15:11

Thanks again everyone and congrats to those of you who have been in similar situations!

@Cassandrainthenight yes, you're absolutely right. All of my IVF cycles were with donor eggs as we were told mine were no good.

Who knows what could have happened if we'd tried with our own - but for now I'm just going to be so grateful. I really think everything happens for a reason and maybe we had to go through that heartache so we could truly appreciate it when it finally happened for us.

@jemimafuddleduck

For me the the most incredulous bit is that you had to have IVFs with donor eggs because the doctors told you had no chance with your own?? WTF? Did I read it right?
Did you have no tries at all with your own (just wonder if it'd have made all the difference?) If it's true, it just goes to show what the doctors "know", and how they shouldn't tell anyone categorically about whether they stand a chance or not (my friend was told after two miscarriages and heavy endometriosis that she had no chance of carrying a baby to term, and having cried over her "infertility" for two years and then went on to have three children naturally!)

You should send your positive pregnancy pictures to whatever expert told you your eggs were no good!

HearingMyOwnVoice · 16/07/2020 20:52

This has made me so happy which is weird given that I don't know you! I love a bit of baby news though, especially now I'm past that stage!
Wonderful news op. Xxx

JayAlfredPrufrock · 16/07/2020 09:35

sh84 · 16/07/2020 09:33

Bloody love this. Enjoy every second of it, allow yourself to get caught up in the excitement & see yourself with your baby. Wishing you a healthy, happy & completely normal pregnancy 💐

Nanalisa60 · 16/07/2020 08:59

I’m so happy for you!! Have a happy healthy next eight months.

EarlGreyT · 16/07/2020 08:49

Congratulations OP. That’s brilliant news. I saw the title in active threads, read the thread and thought how lovely, then wondered if I recognised the poster from the infertility boards and looked at the username. I remember you well from the infertility boards and I’m so very pleased for you.

I completely agree with @AskingforaBaskin and I also really hope you have a boring, happy and healthy 9 months! Especially the boring part with absolutely no more drama.

MaryShelley1818 · 16/07/2020 06:56

Aah wow!! What a lovely thread, huge congratulations to you, that's amazing news :)

I didn't have IVF but tried for 18mths, was tested for everything and eventually just told it was secondary Infertility and there was nothing they could do. I was absolutely devastated but at 42 decided just to move on, enjoy life as it is and plan a big holiday. No sooner than we'd given up and got my BFP!!!
I'm currently 10wks pregnant and got my scan and NIPT test next week so keeping everything crossed xx

AskingforaBaskin · 15/07/2020 20:19

Wow Congratulations! I so hope you have a boring, happy and healthy 9 months!!

ivfdreaming · 15/07/2020 20:08

@jemimafuddleduck

Yes we actually cycled together last year - I've had a few name changes since - 5 miscarriages 2 ruptured ectopics lost both tubes 5 rounds of IVF and twins on my 4th transfer 🤣

AlwaysDancing1234 · 15/07/2020 19:56

So lovely to read this thread, congratulations!

jemimafuddleduck · 15/07/2020 19:48

@jemimafuddleduck

That's great news that you got a 3+ today! Means your hcg is nice and high! I got a 3+ at 5 weeks on the dot too and I'm pregnant with twins 🤣
