@Happyhappy37
How are you getting on with your fast?
Hope it's going well for you and can be a new way of eating.
You're brave fasting all evening though. It's when I'm inclined to snack more!

AliceinBunnyland · 18/07/2020 12:32

@Happyhappy37 I hope that works for you. I suppose it depends when you would usually eat or find it easier not to eat. I've read a lot to say that fasting is good for you.

Happyhappy37 · 18/07/2020 11:37

@AliceinBunnyland yea I will eat until 3 and then nothing until tomorrow morning. So I plan to go bed about 9pm to avoid me staying up late and get tempted to eat.

AliceinBunnyland · 18/07/2020 11:02

@Happyhappy37 I plan to go for a walk as I need to go to the post office anyway but trying to avoid the rain.

How will your fast work? You can eat until 3pm and then you fast for a few hours?

Planning to go for a walk on my lunch break

Happyhappy37 · 18/07/2020 10:58

@AliceinBunnyland
Haha. I've done that and got back into bed whilst my phone charges! Blush

AliceinBunnyland · 18/07/2020 08:23

@Thewhalewhisperer In my experience, the hardest bit is getting up and putting your running kit on...

Thewhalewhisperer · 18/07/2020 08:03

Morning.
You've all inspired me to at least want to go for a run.
Getting up and going is proving to be a problem though. Grin

AliceinBunnyland · 17/07/2020 15:25

@Happyhappy37 But now I really need to lose a few lb so that the weight is the same when I next get on 😭

Happyhappy37 · 17/07/2020 12:20

@AliceinBunnyland I just jumped off and disregarded that one grin 🤣😂😂

AliceinBunnyland · 17/07/2020 12:12

Well done @VenusStarr That's a great start to the day. It's much brighter here too.

@Happyhappy37 I might try to go for a walk at lunchtime too. Maybe somewhere I haven't been for a while.

On BTW I weighed myself this morning and weighed a few lb earlier than when I last weighed myself. I was really pleased. Then decided to take off my watch etc to see if it's even lower but it was higher again. I just jumped off and disregarded that one Grin

Good morning all

Awesome job @VenusStarr 👍🏿👍🏿. I literally just woke up with backache as well. Went bed very late. Going out about 1pm for a walk.

VenusStarr · 17/07/2020 10:27

Morning all :) been for my run already, was hard today but it's a lot warmer and sunnier here, so putting it down to that.

Since I've been doing slimming world I've rarely snacked, which is a positive for me.

Have a good day everyone xx

AliceinBunnyland · 16/07/2020 23:40

@Happyhappy37 I think I'll try to stick to one sweet treat tomorrow such as a mini chocolate bar after dinner which is less than 100 calories. Yes I got some steps in so have hopefully worked off most of the sweet treat calories so today was probably an average day for me 😬

I think I need to have quick and nutritious food around for breakfast and lunch as that's when I tend to reach for snacks sometimes.

I've also struggled to focus on work this week and that can sometimes send me looking for snacks. It's a shame because I was much better than this at the start or lockdown.

@AliceinBunnyland at least you some steps in 👍🏿 Try and work off the excess calories tomorrow.
I went over my calorie intake by 250.didnt realized that my breakfast was so heavy. 🙄 Really need to do the fasting thing.

AliceinBunnyland · 16/07/2020 22:59

Well done @VenusStarr

I've done 12,000 steps but including a walk before dinner but I've also had a dark choc mint two finger Kit Kat, a mini dairy milk (the small thin bars), some peanuts and DH got us strawberries and cream for dinner (on top of lunch and dinner) - and this is an okay day for me! Blush

I can't believe it is Friday tomorrow. I don't know where this week has gone!

Ok @Thewhalewhisperer is there any apps that use as a guide. So do you like skip breakfast and lunch and just have dinner?

Happyhappy37 · 16/07/2020 19:23

@AliceinBunnyland Haven't done any exercise today guys. I will make up for it tomorrow 😁@VenusStarr@Thewhalewhisperer

Hope you are all doing well

Thewhalewhisperer · 16/07/2020 19:22

Thank you. The best way to learn about fasting us the Gin Stephens books but the basic gist us that by eating often, regardless of how many calories, our body stays in receiving food mode rather than burning stored energy (fat) mode. Even if we cut right down on calories, if our body is in receiving mode but isnt actually getting enough energy from food (nor can it access fat because it's in receiving mode) it simply switches down metabolism so we burn fewer calories!
With fasting you spend a longer period of time in the mode of getting energy from stored fat, the metabolism doesn't switch down because we are in the mode which means we are getting plenty of energy for our metabolism by burning fat.
That's probably not very well explained!
It has worked really well for me because rather than denying food (which means I think about it all the time!) I just delay when I eat it and bloody enjoy it when I do.
I know it sounds unbelievable but I am quite content now most days just eating in a 4 hour window, sometimes 6, sometimes 2, but I no longer graze all day.
This is probably the longest I've ever stuck to anything and it might not be right for everyone but it works so well for me.

VenusStarr · 16/07/2020 19:16

Well done @AliceinBunnyland :)

I'm sorry for your loss @Thewhalewhisperer well done for losing all the weight! My weight is due following my miscarriages - I've plateaued and losing my inspiration with it, but you're inspiring me that it can be done :)

You're doing well @Happyhappy37 💪

I did another run yesterday which I'm happy with, although dh pulled a muscle near his hip, so not sure if he'll be up for tomorrow's run, will have to push myself to go alone... We've been for a walk today, around 7000 steps all in. I'm trying to be active each day, even if it's not proper exercise.

Happyhappy37 · 16/07/2020 13:48

@Thewhalewhisperer well done. I am interested in learning more about fasting . How do you do it?

AliceinBunnyland · 15/07/2020 21:42

Hi @Thewhalewhisperer Well done on losing some weight already. How do you find intermittent fasting? Do you basically have a late breakfast and and early dinner and then just eat between those times? I think it could work for me more so than something like 5:2 but we finish work late often so it's not unusual to eat dinner at 9pm.

Hello. I'm ttc after a MMC in March. This will be my second cycle. I got a bit obsessed last cycle and it made the tww so much harder. This time round I'm going to try to focus more on my health and if I get a sticky bean then all the better.
I've lost almost 14kg since October (when we decided to get in shape to ttc) of that 7kg has been since my miscarriage in March.
I've been losing weight by intermittent fasting and it is the healthiest I have felt for a long time. Just 1.5kg until I officially have a healthy bmi.
There is some debate over if fasting affects ovulation, but I don't think what I do is extreme enough for that. It seems to be one of the many things where they don't really know so can't reccommend it just in case. So many people seem to say that once they started fasting they suddenly found they were more fertile so it could go either way.

I'm hoping you ladies will inspire me to do more exercise which has been sorely lacking recently.
