Hello!

I've been reading loads on the importance of pre-conception nutrition and preparing your body. Some say 3 months before and I've seen some that say 6 months before.

I find myself trawling through threads on Mumsnet but wondered if there were any ladies planning to start TTC in the next few months and wanted a forum to chat about ways to prepare / excitement of it all etc.

I often find myself going on to my bf and mum and they're like ok ok! 😂

I'd love to join! Currently trying to arrange for my coil to be removed. COVID put a stop to that. Will follow with interest.

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 08:21

@sunflowersaremyfav93 it's not bad at all. Loads of my friends aren't coming away for all sorts of reasons. I can't imagine anyone booking hen dos at the minute but just say to her you can't afford to go?

Nate1 · 04/07/2020 08:19

Hi @MsQueenInTheNorth I‘m totally with you on the ‚getting fitter‘ part of preparing for ttc. I tried some cardio workout on YouTube last night but apperently got sick after which might be because of my coil removal a few days ago (I feel like I lost quite some blood..sorry if tmi). But it‘s also possible I just overdid it :D. What do you plan on doing to get fitter?

@sunflowersaremyfav93 personally I wouldn‘t commit to any holiday plans at the moment (covid..) Maybe that’s just how I feel? But besides that money seems to be a good reason. I hope they‘ll understand.

@PileofToss I think you shouldn‘t feel bad at all because you are pregnant at a wedding. I mean the two who are getting married are in love and should count themselves lucky to have you there with them on their special day.. But I do get the point of telling everybody involved as early as possible and comfortable for you.

I remember that we were talking about some blogs and shows and I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy watching ‚TheEggWisperer‘ on YouTube lately - it‘s always informative - well for me anyway :).

MsQueenInTheNorth · 03/07/2020 21:45

Hello! Mind if I join? Thinking of starting to try after Christmas, but trying to get as prepared as possible in advance. I have some weight to lose and I want to get fitter too!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 21:34

@PileofToss fingers crossed!!

@butterfly5291 You are right and me and my bf told his sister we were going to start TTC before they'd even set their date so she knows and my friend know having said that for my friends hen the maid of hon wants us to all go Barcelona (each paying a bit extra for the bride) is it super unreasonable if I don't go? I just don't k is if I'll be pregnant by the , if I am I won't want to go and beside all that I'd rather save the money 🙈 is that bad?

CookieMonster3001 · 03/07/2020 21:31

@sunflowersaremyfav93 some of it might have been hard to hear but at least you know now for sure and can manage expectations. Everything crossed for you

@butterfly5291 100% agree a convo is so important especially if your due date is so close to the wedding dates. I will probably tell my sister if we fall pregnant as early as possible. Hard to know what to do, because I certainly dont want to tell anyone when we TTC. Our family cant keep secrers to save lives. Trying to plan it so that its early days when her wedding arrives anyway so hoping it wouldnt interfere with any plans!

PileofToss · 03/07/2020 19:38

@CookieMonster3001 ohh I can just imagine! I bet they’re gorgeous though. I’m not going to worry about telling my friend unless I actually get pregnant, it’s too much hassle to even think about 😂

@Nate1 I can’t imagine this particular friend will ever understand it, she doesn’t even like being around her own nieces!

@sunflowersaremyfav93 fingers crossed for a lot of pregnant bridesmaids next year!!

butterfly5291 · 03/07/2020 19:28

I can chime in on the whole wedding/pregnancy/bridesmaid issue.

My bridesmaid is my sister in law and our wedding is 29th Dec and she started TTC in Jan. She didn't say anything to me about until she got a positive test. Baby is due 30th Nov, do she's going to miss my hen do (if there is one)
Obviously I am super excited to be an Auntie but we did have to have an awkward conversation.... she said she'd still be happy to do it but I know she won't feel like at the time. If she goes 2weeks over and has a c section she won't even be able to come because they live 4 hours away.

I would suggest talking to the bride if you are TTC and it could interfere with the wedding. Chances are they'll be really happy for you and will give you chance to talk about whether you are both still happy with the decision. If they've not bought dress etc you can think about styles that will suit if you are pregnant.

Although with our change of plans hopefully I'm the one that's pregnant at my wedding! 😂

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 19:21

Thank you! @OneStepOneStumble I'm sure all will be Ok my mum was like, women all over the world have this and have babies and she's right I mustn't overthink it. 🥰

OneStepOneStumble · 03/07/2020 19:17

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I'm glad you had a productive call even if it was a bit scary to hear. At least you can go in completely armed with information now and the dr is paying attention and sending you for the tests that may help! I've got my fingers crossed for you!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 19:12

Ah yes I'll get some Omega thank you!

So I had my call with the GP, told him I don't smoke, don't really drink and have a balanced diet with fruit and veg which he said was good. He's sent me for a blood test to check my folic and Vit D levels which I'm pleased about and contacted my consultant to see if my chemo would have had any long lasting damage.

Asked him about my septate uterus, he said yes increased rate of miscarriage, which has upset me, even though I knew. Also means higher chance of c-section than natural birthday because the baby wouldn't have much room. But I've been referred to a gynaecologist, depending on the severity there are ops that can correct it I think.

Que me spending all evening googling septate uterus'

I've gone from 2 weddings next year to 6 because of all of the weddings that have had to be postponed.
Crazy times isnt it!

JamesZebra · 03/07/2020 18:04

@sunflowersaremyfav93 maybe omega3 might be a good one as that is in fish a lot. I am pretty sure eggs are high in it too.

OneStepOneStumble · 03/07/2020 17:51

I'm supposed to be a bridesmaid in October but we don't know what's happening with that and my friend is supportive. Hoping I won't be that big by then anyway even if i conceived straight away. There's always some event to plan for isn't there?

Waffle10 · 03/07/2020 17:06

@CookieMonster3001 thank you!
Could you not use another email to create an amazon account? But I think the ebay ones will be the same, it's probably the same company selling them on both sites

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 16:19

@nate1 Ah interesting, I eat meat but I I hate fish and wonder if I should supplement that somehow.

I find it very hard to motivate myself to excersise I find cleaning the house to be a workout but I really ought to start doing more.

@pileoftoss I'm being a bridesmaid twice next year one wedding being my bf's sister and in Spain! So we decided to delayed by one month to avoid me not being able to go in case I fall straight away but tbh but they'll have a pregnant bridesmaid hopefully! 😂

OP posts:
CookieMonster3001 · 03/07/2020 16:18

@PileofToss yep know the feeling!! Luckily for me, the wedding is my baby sisters, so hopefully she will be happy if I'm preggo. Downside, I'm Asian, so I have already purchased about 6 outfits for the ridiculously long weddings we have! If I don't fit in any of them, I am well and truly screwed!

@Nate1 with lockdown, walking has become my best friend! Me and hubby go for an hour and half to sometimes two and its such a nice way for us to have a chat. Usually he is glued to his phone!

Nate1 · 03/07/2020 16:15

@CookieMonster3001 I know how you feel about the shared amazon account. I share my apple cloud with my mum and therefor can‘t download ttc/pregnancy related books :D but I think that the OPK cheapies are the same on eBay and since they come in such large packages (30-100pieces) you really can try what works for you (morning, midday..)

JamesZebra · 03/07/2020 16:12

@CookieMonster3001 yes they are from Amazon. i think the ones on ebay will be fine if you don't want to use amazon. Sometimes sellers on Ebay have reviews too so you can check them out to see if they are legit.

Nate1 · 03/07/2020 16:10

@PileofToss Sorry to hear that your friends too thinks of getting pregnant as a negative thing. I do wonder why so many are either dead set against it or then suddenly desperately trying :D

Nate1 · 03/07/2020 16:04

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I read that we are the same age so I totally understand there is no point talking to our friends about this :D I‘m taking B12 because I don‘t eat meat regularly and if your vegan (which I am most days of the week lol) you should supplement it. Strangely it is entailed in my preconception Vitamins anyway so I only have to swallow one pill each day :)

Thanks for the recommendations :) I‘m going to have a look at them.

How do you guys motivate yourselves to exercise? I find that quite challenging :D

PileofToss · 03/07/2020 16:03

@CookieMonster3001 I'm in a similar boat to you! Got married last year and DH and I decided this was the year to start trying. I was meant to be a bridesmaid this month and was hoping I'd either be very early on in pregnancy or not there yet, so it wouldn't affect the dress (which has already been bought Confused)

Of course that wedding has been moved to next summer now, but I don't want to put off trying to conceive as I'm worried about how long it'll take me anyway.

I haven't told the bride any of this, she will be furious (she doesn't want kids and finds the idea of her friends getting pregnant a negative thing - I know Angry) BUT who knows, I might not be pregnant by then either.

I was on the depo injection for about 6 years, had my last injection in December and have had 2 periods so far...eeep!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 16:02

@cookiemonster3001 That's the thing they just cost so much that's before we've even fallen pregnant. I saw on another thread that the Wellman Conception ones are good but to be honest I know very little about them. I def want my bf to take some too, I'm loading him up with veggies as well lol!

CookieMonster3001 · 03/07/2020 16:00

see the pic now! Thank you :)

CookieMonster3001 · 03/07/2020 15:59

@Nate1 thank you! I can't see a pic though? What are they called, I can have a look on amazon!
I would get my OPKs from amazon, but my whole family are on it, and my sisters are order stalkers so always knows what I am buying! Seen some on ebay, but not sure if they are as trust worth. Might just give it a go anyway! Closer to the time, I will probably invest in CB one and just use when I'm at my peak.
