OPKS

Just a quick one, my first month doing OPKs and although I have a pretty regular cycle I have started on CD5. I was under the impression I should test morning and night however the morning tests are always so faint it seems a waste of time? I've started reading SMEP and it says only do evenings? Obviously I'm getting through a lot of tests so just wondering if anyone has ever got there positive OPK in the morning or if I should stick to late afternoon evening?

Thanks in advance

@Poppy10121 think it’s just day 21 progesterone to start with because I’ve been spotting a lot. But he also mentioned would maybe need to check oestrogen, LH and FSH. At least it’s a start. We’ve only been trying 3 months but I’d rather not wait before checking in case anything needs done esp as I’m 38. I have a pretty good doctor though and I’m glad didn’t make me wait too long for checks. The check is mainly due to the spotting. Last 2 cycles it was almost a full week of spotting followed by a super light and short period. Bit odd

This video is pretty cool. Although makes me feel really sorry for sperm. Don't know why I'm watching videos on this but I'm procrastinating around work.

Poppy10121 · 13/07/2020 09:07

@zippityzip hope you’re feeling better! I know what you mean, it suddenly gets Expensive with all the tests and supplements doesn’t it!

@LT103 what will they check for when you get the bloods done?

I do think the ClearBlue tests seem good so far instead of the cheap ones, it’s my first month of using them and easier than trying to photo and squint at a tiny line first thing in the morning! Got flashing smiley on Saturday and static smiley on Sunday so hoping we’ve managed to time things right this month 🤞

zippityzip · 13/07/2020 07:47

Oh @LT103 that sucks. I'm really starting to think the internet cheapies aren't worth it.

I don't even have a whiff of a symptom so definitely out this month. AF due next week so just waiting for that bitch so we can try again.

The conception vitamins I've got my for DH have upset his stomach so will try and find another one for him. I'll be broke before the baby arrives 😂 all these vitamins and tests.

LT103 · 11/07/2020 16:01

@zippityzip yes unfortunately. Day 3 now. I’ve booked in for day 21 bloods because of the spotting I keep having to make sure things are ok. Actually feel ok now it’s here. Just hate that bit before where you don’t know what’s happening. No idea why I got a positive then negative results but just one of these things.
You still have time for that bfp 🤞🤞

zippityzip · 11/07/2020 15:29

@bibs124 I think I'm 6/7DPO - but absolutely not pregnant this month. Going to invest in some better OPKs for next cycle. You can test next week 😁

@LT103 Did AF arrive?

LT103 · 11/07/2020 11:13

How is everyone getting on??

bibs124 · 11/07/2020 11:01

@zippityzip perhaps! I'm 8 days since my positive OPK but ovulation could of happened a day or so after so I'm probably 7 DPO.. what about you?

@bibs124 Ooh I wonder if that's hormonal changes? When are you due to test.

bibs124 · 10/07/2020 21:19

How's everyone feeling? Last few days I've had headaches so bad they're making me feel sick Sad

Poppy10121 · 10/07/2020 10:55

@bibs124 Oh I hope that tracking and SMEP brings you luck then! Tbh I found the same once I started paying attention to ovulation, I realised that I'd had no clue what I was doing before - the window is so short really!

@zippityzip that sounds awful! Hope you are better soon x

@LT103 fingers crossed its implantation bleeding and not the start of AF

I've been taking Pregnacare vits and also extra vit C & Zinc and vit D. Just been to the shops and got loads of green veg and fruits to try and have a healthier diet this month, lockdown went a bit beige food-wise :D

I'm on CD8 and been doing the ClearBlue ovulation tests since my period finished just in case. I find something really depressing about seeing the empty circle instead of a face - somehow much worse than seeing a faint line on a cheap ovulation test?!

LT103 · 09/07/2020 14:30

@zippityzip ok here. Haven’t tested since my negative, still spotting (now day 6) and no sign af. Spoken to doctor so if this period arrives I’ve to call and book in for day 21 bloods. I’m not testing again til after af is late as I’m fairly sure I’m out this month. Who knows

zippityzip · 09/07/2020 09:38

@LT103 How are you doing?

zippityzip · 09/07/2020 09:38

Have a massive UTI - in agony. Had to take a sample to GP but beforehand took a test to rule out pregnancy for the antibiotics (stupid as I know there's no chance) so now I'm poorly and pissed off because it's the clearest BFN I've ever seen in my life.

zippityzip · 08/07/2020 09:47

@Poppy10121 I've also been taking myo inositol but I'm sure they are making me feel really anxious I don't know why. Heard great things online though.

@bibs124 I have two DCs already that I conceived whilst on contraception - I'm only cycle 3 so I know I'm being unreasonable. Hopefully now your timings are on!

bibs124 · 08/07/2020 08:59

@zippityzip I thought it was 7 but I just counted and this is actually cycle 8.. before now I wasn’t doing OPKs however and looking back on my flo app after reading SMEP & doing OPKs I think we have probably been DTD at all the wrong times for the last 7 months..

@Poppy10121 I heard that too.. I opted to take individual vitamins instead of a multi vitamin due to this.. I have under active thyroid so some I can’t take that are recommend..

I’m currently taking:
Iron & Folic Acid
Vitamin D
Q10 (90 days for good egg health)
Vitamin C (for progesterone)

And DP:
Vitamin D
Maca
Zinc

We’re trying the conception vitamins this month too! Pregnacare for me and Wellman for my husband. Just got the ClearBlue advanced ovulation tests too so will give those a go this month and see if it’s less stressful than the cheap ones.

I’ve been considering trying Agnus Castus as well but gonna wait and not do everything at once!

Fingers crossed for you all 🤞🤞

zippityzip · 08/07/2020 08:34

@bibs124 How many cycles are you into?

I've ordered him some wellman conception and myself some seven seas. Although I'm nervous as I've heard some preconception vitamins can lengthen your cycle.

I'm keeping it all crossed for you, when is AF due?

bibs124 · 08/07/2020 08:32

@zippityzip I feel really sick after ovulation too.. I think it’s the change in hormones! We are also stocked up on the vitamins.. what ones are you taking? The more months go on the more I expect AF to turn up so it isn’t such a shock. I’ll be sad if this month as know we really tried hard Sad

OP posts:
zippityzip · 08/07/2020 07:59

@bibs124 Felt quite sick this morning but just guessing my body is being a bitch. Just spent £40 on conception vitamins for both me and DH for next day delivery with amazon.
It's literally consuming my life. I need to chill.

How are you doing?

bibs124 · 08/07/2020 07:40

How's everyone feeling? My fingers are crossed you get your BFP today @LT103

OP posts:
zippityzip · 07/07/2020 10:34

@bibs124 I know what you mean. However the odds are in our favour if you look at chances of conception within 2 years.

bibs124 · 07/07/2020 08:40

@zippityzip I don't know why but for some reason I'm just so convinced I won't get pregnant naturally, really need to get out this mindset but don't want to get my hopes up and be let down Sad

OP posts:
zippityzip · 07/07/2020 08:03

@bibs124 AF is due on 19th so probably around then. I know what you mean, every day is like Groundhog Day. Longest wait ever.
