Hi all, looking for some fellow ladies for support along our journeys. I'm 36 this year and TTC for the first time. First month just now and nervous. Any tips? I'm using clearblue 4 day ovulation tests just now and track my temp. Does anyone take certain vitamins? Thanks all and good luck 💗 xxx

Ok so 1st cycle trying and bang in the middle of fertile window now. My periods are generally bang on time etc, going by the ovulation apps I'm ovulating on thurs. (14 yrs together that day Grin )
Is it better to DTD daily or every 2nd day. Today and wed, tues and thurs? Any advice?
His sex drive is quite high so no issues getting him too lol. I'm not mentioning ovulation just not to put pressure on to be safe. He can tell some months when I'm ovulating as he has commented.
So any advice is much appreciated. I'm not holding out much hope as the age thing lessons chances but what's for u wont pass u Wink

@MrsMacG10 hello fellow Scott.

I'm 36 and TTC first baby. Had copper coil out before Christmas but didn't start to try until about March. I've been on Pregnacare vits but last month I ended up buying seven seas and got terrible pmt tension headaches! They disappeared when AF appeared though thank God. Not sure if the change in tablets had anything to do with it but I'm back on Pregnacare this month.

I haven't been tracking my cycle quite as closely as you ladies but now I feel I should! I have the free app that shows my fertile time based on my period so I've been going by that. I think if this month is a bust I'll get some of those sticks.

I think our biggest blocker is going to be the OH. He has a low sex drive and is on antidepressants (has been for years) He came off them when we decided to try for a baby but he's going to have to go back on them as he needs them!

Hi to everyone else! Feels good to chat with people in similar situations.

Let's hope we all get our BFP soon xx

@gypsywater it’s great to meet someone at the exact same stage in the journey Smile I had my last excision in 2018, also suspect it may be back abit. Good luck for the next couple of days! Keep us posted x

gypsywater · 21/06/2020 22:24

@PinkCarnation12 I've also had Endo - was removed in 2016 but not sure whether or not it has come back. Cycle 7 now for us. Also 35 y/o. And CD 26 so expecting AF tomorrow or Tue.

Pinkcarnation12 · 21/06/2020 21:59

Hello all. Been loitering for awhile but this thread felt like home for me!

I’ve just turned 35 and TTC#1 on cycle 7 now. I’ve got severe endo and a couple of other chronic illnesses so I knew it might be tricky. I don’t know if it’s the age (Everything I’ve read seems to point to 35 being the age fertility drops off a cliff but that could be me looking for things to convince me it’s not going to work) but this month I’ve started to struggle a little mentally. I had tried to be as chilled as possible as I know I’ll overthink otherwise.

I think we’re out this month but I am only CD21 of about 27/28. I’ve just bought the CB ovulation sticks to confirm if the cheap ones were right. Been using Ovia but might swap to natural cycles too and might give SMEP a go. It’s great to meet other women of a similar age to put my mind at ease Smile I’m sure I’ll be much more positive again soon x

Hey gang! I'd love to join in. I'm 34 and this is cycle #2. We weren't really taking last month that seriously, we were using Conceive Plus and temping, but I was just using this and Femometer to track ovulation. I've been taking folic acid since the beginning of the year, I've cut out alcohol, only drink decaf tea, and now take vitamin D.

I was learning so much last month (about cycles in general, CM, etc), but this month I've bought the CB digital OPK so I can track my ovulation properly. It's super early days for us so we're not telling anyone we're trying, but would love to fall pregnant this year!

I don't want to get obsessed, it's nice to have support from these forums (especially from the relaxed users - I want to stay chill). 😊

2alreadywantanother · 21/06/2020 21:39

We had decided to go again m, if it happens. I'm 39, closer to 40. Have 2, no issues ttc with them. Youngest is 9 and I'm dying for another. Just entering fertile window now. Af due 10th or so.
So fingers crossed. The age thing concerns me tho.

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 21:22

@maria1984m I'm so excited for you! And yes please do let us know tomorrow 💗 goodnight ladies xxx

@MrsMacG10 thank you I'll report back I've ordered a clear blue test for tommorow that tells you the weeks too so fingers crossed!!
I only came off the pill just over a month a go little earlier than planned but I'd convinced the other half it was going to take at least a year so still a little in shock but excited about getting excited!!!

@MintGreeLife thank you! I've been trying to change my diet and started taking some supplements I did buy the pregnacare ones but they're so big I struggle to take them so ordered the seven seas ones as think there a lot smaller.

Great to be joining you all xx

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 20:54

@HowFastIsTooFast welcome! Your cycle sounds similar to mine. Best of luck for for fertility window 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
@MintGreeLife yeah I'm not gonna tell hubby I'm in my fertility window as dont want their to be loads of pressure. What will be will be 💗 although he may guess when the fertility lubrication comes out 🤣🤣🤣 xxx

@maria1984m huge congrats on your BFP! Let us know how you get on with testing again tomorrow ☺️

I came off the pill in April and my last cycle was the first I've tracked by doing OPKs and temping - it was completely haywire 🙄 I've been doing a lot of research and have made some changes to my diet as well as taking various supplements, so really hoping this cycle is better 🤞🏼 Currently on CD5 of cycle 2 TTC x

HowFastIsTooFast · 21/06/2020 20:48

Hello! I'm also 36 and this is our first cycle of TTC #1. We're in the fertile window now and AF would be due on or about the 7th July.

Glad to have people in the same boat to share the journey with x

MintGreenLife · 21/06/2020 20:45

@MrsMacG10 I made the mistake of showing OH my positive OPK last cycle, which turned out to be the first of three so didn't even ovulate 🙈 But it totally made him feel under pressure. Won't make that mistake again 😂 I'm only on CD5 now but we will probs start DTD everyother day from tonight. Keen to start doing OPKs already in hope things will look a bit more normal, but will hold off a few more days x

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 20:43

@maria1984m amazing news!! Please let us know how you get on tomorrow 🤞🏻 how long have you been TTC? Welcome to our wee group 💗 xx

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 20:41

@MintGreenLife fingers crossed you still get married this year. I'm sure small ceremonies will go ahead and what a great way to celebrate your anniversary with a party if all goes to plan.
We DTD yesterday morning so will try for tonight and tomorrow night 🤞🏻 hubby is finally back at work tomorrow so may be too tired tomorrow night but we shall see! I want it to be as natural as possible with no pressure.
After a few months of measuring your temp you should get a better picture of your cycle 💗 xxx

Hi ladies

I'm 36 this year too and ttc our first so would love to chat with people in the same boat!

I came off the mini pill about a month a go no period but have been feeling a bit off did a test last weekend and negative but prior to opening a bottle of wine with Sunday dinner took another test and it came up positive today!!!

I'm a worrier so planning on taking another one tommorow so keeping fingers firmly crossed

Be great to have some like minded people yo to share the journey with x

MintGreenLife · 21/06/2020 20:17

@MrsMacG10 I might carry on with the cheap OPKs this cycle, and if it's a bit more regular then may try the CB ones next cycle if we don't catch this month. I started tempting last cycle, but that won't give me much insight until my cycles are more regular either I don't think.

Ah lovely! Bet you were so glad you got married before everything kicked off. Honeymoon sounds fab. We are hoping wedding ceramonies with small numbers may be able to go ahead again soon, as if so we will stick to our original date this year and have a small ceramony with just 8 family members, and then throw the 'wedding' just before our one year wedding anniversary next year.

You probably already know this, but from the books I've read and my research the highest changes of conception are the two days before ovulation ☺️ are you planning on DTD everyday during your fertile window, or a little less? We tried everyday in our first cycle but think OH found it a bit much 😂 So we just try and do every other day through most of the cycle x

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 20:09

@MintGreenLife I definitely recommend the CB 4 day ovulation tests. Although I do think testing more than once a day helps when you have an idea of when you ovulate otherwise it would be super expensive. If you're cycle is still irregular then maybe try tracking your temp. I've used natural cycles since I came off the pill and it tells me when I ovulate too. You have to pay for the app but cheaper than CB.
We got married November 2018, we had our honeymoon in mexico last year and had to wait 6 months then I got a new job ect so TTC a little later than planned. Hopefully we conceive tonight on fathers day which would be nice 🤞🏻❤ I can but hope!xxx

@MrsMacG10 I'm not sure how I've mustered up the willpower, but I have somehow 🙈 I've managed to cut caffeine down to one green tea a day also. I think just because this cycle was such a mess and I found it so frustrating I just feel like anything I can do to help it along will be worth it if I can get back on track that little bit sooner, plus if we don't manage to conceive in the next few months we might have to rethink the new wedding date. I'm trying to avoid putting the pressure on though, if it doesn't happen in the next 2/3 months we will have to have a rethink.

Would you reccomended the CB OPKs? I feel like they could get very expensive for me if my cycle is still irregular. This last cycle I started testing on CD6 right up until CD33 when I finally got a positive, and during that time I got several 'high' results starting from CD20 🙄 Not sure if the CB ones are designed to be used over such a long timeframe?

Did you get married quite recently then? Xx

Flowersandfireworks · 21/06/2020 19:27

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone 😊 feels good to have some friends for the journey!

I’m also using natural cycles but I don’t think it’s had enough time to work me out yet. I haven’t had a smiley face yet when it thinks I’m ovulating. But that’s probably because I came off the pill so recently. Interesting that it’s changed throughout the day though! I might try that tomorrow.

I read the beginning of ‘expecting better’ which I found really useful. She reads all the different studies and summarises them. Reading things helps me feel more in control!

I’ve also not done a very good job of cutting out alcohol and lockdown doesn’t help GinGrin

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 18:43

So after doing a clear blue advance test this morning and getting a blank circle I've just tested again and got the full on smiley face 😊 had anyone else had that before? Feel like I've skipped the flashing smiley xx

@MintGreenLife if I remember it just took me a few months or so for my cycle to get back to normal. I had to use tablets to delay my period when we went on honeymoon so again that knocked my cycle off again. I use natural cycles app and thermometer to track, you have to pay for it but I find it helpful.
You're doing amazing, I need to have a healthier diet and reduce my alcohol. Lockdown hasn't helped with that at all! I'm a bit overweight so getting my healthy eating back on track as of this week.
I'll need to have a read of those books, anything that helps us along the way. I'm so impatient! 🤣 xxx

MintGreenLife · 21/06/2020 17:38

@MrsMacG10 thanks so much for the kind welcome ☺️ I feel positive about our change of plan, tbh I think deciding to TTC has saved me from feeling too blue about the wedding.

How many cycles did you find it took you to get back on track? I've also completely cut alcohol (as one one month ago) and sugar - basically eating everything I can that's meant to help with fertility and get hormones back on track 😂

Do you use any apps at all? I use Premom which I find really good, although may be less useful if you're using the CB OPKs, as I use it to track my LH levels with the cheap strips, and my BBT. I've also read two books which I found brilliant - The Impatient Women's Guide to Getting Pregnant, and Taking Charge of Your Fertility x

MrsMacG10 · 21/06/2020 17:32

Welcome @MintGreenLife so sorry to hear your wedding is postponed but fab you can focus on a baby now ❤ I came off the pill a while ago and my cycle settled after a short while so hope it's the same for you xxx thanks to everyone joining I feel so much better being able to chat to people going through the same xx
