@Daffodil21 ah I see, yes definitely not worth the added stress and as you say, flashing smiley still helps with tracking! What do the blood tests show? Is this to confirm if you’ve ovulated?
So it’s my best friends wedding in June ‘21 and I’m maid of honour, and I’m making her wedding cake (used to do that prof!) so if we don’t succeed this month it ends up being too close to her hen do and wedding! We said we’ll probably wait until next year 🙁 so I feel pressure this month!

Daffodil21 · 03/08/2020 09:42

@Dogscanlookup my reasoning is the 4 hour hour hold. I go to the loo probably more than most people, so having to do that 4 hour hold means I'm clock watching and timing drinks to make sure I can actually hold for 4 hours. I figured that was probably putting extra stress on me which won't be helping. But then I don't really use OPKs to time dtd, I use them so I know when to expect AF. But debating whether to use them after this month. I said last month would be my last month, but I need to get another progesterone blood tests this month, which has to be timed for 7 days after ovulation.

Why is this your last month TTC? Sorry if you've said previously!

@Daffodil21 4 hours is sooo long! My poor bladder ha. I got another flashing smiley today. Yeah I want to do twice a day so I don’t miss it, I’ve read a lot of people not getting a static so thought evening test would be good. We only have this month to TTC really so doing everything in our power to make it work!
@Tofu35 I’m using the AdvancedCB OPK. I’m wondering if you get more flashing smileys with it because it’s more sensitive?

What are both your reasons for not testing in the eve?
And thanks, I’m glad it’s not just me, I know exactly what you mean feeling like it’s a positive pregnancy test! I’m worried this will give me too much hope that it will definitely happen as I feel I’ve timed everything really well 😕

Tofu35 · 02/08/2020 22:39

Yeah @Daffodil21 i'm like you, a morning pee test with the CB. What tests are you using @Dogacanlookup?

Also, you're in the right group for people getting excited about seeing the smiley! Nothing lame about it, just part of the TTC experience 😂

Daffodil21 · 02/08/2020 18:31

So many errors in my last message - promise I'm not on the gin again! 😂

Daffodil21 · 02/08/2020 18:30

@Dogscanlookup haha sometimes I get so excited when I see a smiley that I have to remind myself it's not a positive pregnancy test 😂 glad you got your smiley!

If you test in the evening you need a 4 hour hold. I personally don't bother test in the evenings if I'm using the clear blue advanced ones and I've never not got a static smiley, but I think there is a chance you could kiss your surge by not doing an evening test. Depends if you're relying on it to dtd at the right time, or if you're just using them to keep track of your cycles I guess

@Tofu35 thank you! I realise how lame it was how excited I got ha. Should I now be testing twice a day? And if I’m testing in the afternoon how many hours should I wait since last wee??

Tofu35 · 01/08/2020 23:07

Yay @Dogscanlookup! Glad the smiley wasn't elusive :)

Dogscanlookup · 01/08/2020 12:24

Guys I got a flashing smiley today!!!

Daffodil21 · 31/07/2020 20:55

@Dogscanlookup that sound lovely!

@Tofu35 it was the tanqueray with Sevilla gin 😋 have since moved on to wine and cocktails though!

I figured we may as well enjoy the 'non baby' things atm. My friend who has a child longs for this sort of thing. Of course I would rather have a baby than gin, but 🤷‍♀️

Tofu35 · 31/07/2020 20:49

@Daffodil21 what gin are you drinking this evening?

Sorry hon, I don't know enough about how folic acid can affect cycles to give any sort of steer- just know what's happened with me. Hope you get a flashing smile soon @Dogscanlookup! Also, enjoy your dinner with the bestie!

Dogscanlookup · 31/07/2020 18:48

@Daffodil21 ah amazing! Just what you needed! Hope you have a lovely dinner 😊 and enjoy that gin! I’m ok, about to head out for dinner myself with my bestie so my mind might get a rest as she doesn’t know we’re trying so convo will be elsewhere which is just what I need 😊

Daffodil21 · 31/07/2020 17:59

@Dogscanlookup I've actually had a lovely day and I'm feeling good! We were supposed to have asbestos removal in today but they couldn't go ahead because they forgot to get a skip permit 🙈 so I had today booked off and went and did some shopping and mooching around the shops!

Now sitting outside and about to read my book with a nice gin (no danger of being pregnant!) and then tonight DH and I are going out for dinner for the first time in months. I'm soo excited!

Thank you for asking, how are you?

Hope the sunshine has perked everyone up!

@Tofu35 I’m taking the seven seas folic acid but that’s it. I heard prenatal vitamins could mess up a cycle and as I’ve only come off the pill recently I wanted them to settle on their own. Do you think the seven seas could affect it? Would you expect for me to have a flashing smiley by CD 11? No more weird dreams thankfully!
@Daffodil21 I’ve heard good things about pre-seed so might try that in the future! How are you feeling today? Sorry you felt so fed up of all this the other day 🙁 hoping the sun will make you and everyone here feel better about things! ☺️

CEW19 · 31/07/2020 13:07

I keep looking at the test and might just be an evap? Haven’t had a line of any sort before so have nothing to compare to. What do you think?

TTC Thread #2
Daffodil21 · 31/07/2020 11:07

@Dogscanlookup we usually have Conceive Plus lube on the bedside table - definitely helps! Have bought pre-seed but haven't used it yet. Have tried the Tesco fertility gel which was actually pretty good!

@CEW19 fingers crossed for you!!!!

Tofu35 · 31/07/2020 10:11

Morning @Dogscanlookup, my CB OPK used to predict the 4 days, but since starting prenatal multivitamins, mine can go from blank circle one day to static smile the next. I wonder if you're having a similar zero to hero experience this month?

Any more weird dreams last night?

I havent heard of the babydance lube, but once the preseed has ran out- I might give that a try!

Dogscanlookup · 31/07/2020 09:26

@CEW19 I guess at least it’s the weekend a gorgeous weather, take yourself out somewhere!

So I have a question, I’m on CD11. My calendar predicts FW from weds just gone with ovulation due on Monday. I’ve still not got a flashing smiley on my advanced CB OPK. Is that normal? It’s meant to detect 4 fertile days. I really thought I might see a flashing smiley!

Also has anyone tried babydance lube? Maybe TMI but DP and I tried it last night and it was amazing! Doesn’t feel sticky etc like normal lube and he loved it too. Hopefully it’ll help but you guys might wanna try, it isn’t cheap though x

CEW19 · 31/07/2020 08:32

AF is due on Sunday and did a Boots early test this morning, I'm sure I see a faint line, and DH sees it too, but now I'm freaking out that I'm just imagining it and I've convinced him that it's there too. In my head I would try for a baby, do a test, see a line and hurrah I'm pregnant. But not as straight forward as I thought Confused Guess I need tips on how to distract myself for the next 24-48 hours before I test again! Help!

Dogscanlookup · 30/07/2020 16:30

@stumblingthroughlife that’s deffo a line! And it seems about the amount of strength if you’re due Sunday when comparing to all the other millions of photos I’ve looked at online! (Yes I need a hobby) so fingers crossed!
@UnicornBorn23 sorry to hear xx

UnicornBorn23 · 30/07/2020 15:29

AF arrived! Onto the next cycle! good luck to you all!

Tofu35 · 30/07/2020 15:09

Fingers crossed that line keeps getting stronger @stumblingthroughlife Flowers

stumblingthroughlife · 30/07/2020 14:51

Thankyou @Daffodil21 I thought I was loosing my mind. It was a pack of two so I'm going to save one for first thing in the morning!

Daffodil21 · 30/07/2020 14:44

@stumblingthroughlife I can definitely see a line! IME if the camera can pick it up then you're definitely not imagining it!

OP posts:
stumblingthroughlife · 30/07/2020 14:37

Hi everyone hope you don't mind me jumping on this. This is my first month TTC and il be honest I've done everything I promised myself I wouldn't. I tested way too early three times all negative before they would have been able to pick anything up really but I ruled myself out. I've also had a problem with the folic acid and had an allergic reaction to it, the reaction has gone down now and bought a different brand as pharmacist has questioned if it was the binding agent in the tablets. However I am due AF on Sunday and took a test this afternoon and I don't know if I'm imagining it but I'm sure there is a faint line! What do you guys think?
