@SaraVB aw okay that’s good to know for the future should I need testing! Was wondering if the hormone levels would reflect it

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 15:56

@Dreaming101 I'm not sure if it shows up on bloodtests but I was tested for it a while ago and don't think blood was taken. If i'm not mistaken it was just a pelvic exam and ultrasound.

Dreaming101 · 09/07/2020 15:51

Does anyone know if things like PCOS would show up on blood tests?

Sorry AF got you @Rm20 don’t feel embarrassed though as we have all been there and probably (hopefully not) will be there again one day. TTC is a head f**k.

@SaraVB I’ve been considering having tests too, same as you for peace of mind. I’m hoping it may help me relax a bit more!

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 15:42

@Rm20 oh sorry to hear.. couldn't you just keep the tests for next month instead of taking them back?
I actually did the same search last week. I'm not sure when I ovulated exactly cos my digital opks hadn't arrived and I found the others difficult to read but I suspect it may have been less than a week ago and AF due tomorrow-Sunday. It stressed me out a bit so I'm definitely going to use digital opks next month to confirm when I'm ovulating.

Actually starting to feel some slight cramping now so I think it won't be long until AF shows up.

@Daffodil21 Yes true that's a good point. I'll sort out the insurance papers this weekend and try to find a good doctor.

Rm20 · 09/07/2020 15:09

Thanks @Bam27 my OH just nods most of the time now.

After last nights chat I went to Boots this morning and bought some early detection pregnancy tests. A couple of hours after I had some little bleeding after the loo and had heavier cramping since :( seems I will be returning the tests for more OPKs! Embarrassing!

I wasn’t expecting my period as I only ovulated about 6/7 days ago so I looked it up and it said if the luteal phase Is shorter than 10 days then it may be harder to conceive so that’s disheartening.

Hope everyone is ok today! X

Daffodil21 · 09/07/2020 15:07

@Dreaming101 glad your bloods came back clear! But yes, worth speaking to doc. Let's hope it is the pill leaving your system. it must be really annoying but even though it might delay things for a couple of months it should mean that there's nothing else wrong x

@SaraVB I know I didn't get checked early (well, I did at 8 months) but if you can get checked now then do, even if it means going private. Looking back I wished I just went private and had checks right at the beginning. I'm thankful for the tests I'm about to have, but if anything is flagged I'll be kicking myself for not going sooner

Bloods have come back normal but I’ve asked for A phone call with the dr tomorrow as I only spoke to the receptionist.

Can only assume it’s the pill leaving my system still 😓

Dogscanlookup · 09/07/2020 14:57

@SaraVB ooh no! That’s a shame. As it’s the first month for us I think we’re both excited but the last thing I want is for it to become a chore or forced! But at the same time how do you avoid this when you know the time is right? You kind of have to go for it 😂

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 14:47

@Bam27 Yes that's what I was thinking too

Oh good to know @Daffodil21! He doesn't drink coffee but I think he drinks quite a lot of tea at work and diet coke sometimes too. Really keeping my fingers crossed for your tests.

I've just moved so I need to sort out my private health insurance and find a new doctor. There's public healthcare here so I've been really lazy with the private but I guess it would be helpful to have another option if I got pregnant or if tests were needed.

Did anyone else get tests done before TTC or before they had been TTC long? considering whether it would be an option just to put my mind at ease that everything was working ok 😂

Daffodil21 · 09/07/2020 14:29

@Bam27 @SaraVB my DH was told to cut caffeine after his results came back with low morphology (fertility clinic is not concerned with this thankfully), so cant hurt I suppose. If that's the one thing he has to do I'm sure he can cope! My DH used to love coffee but has switched to decaf pretty easily.

Spontaneity has gone out the window in our house 😂 although I have to say letting him know I'm going to jump him as soon as he's home is next level even for me 😂

Managed to (hopefully) book my progesterone rests for next Friday which should suit perfectly with ovulation, even though it's late. The lady was super nice and even though they are booked up she's going to see if she can squeeze me in, and around my fertility clinic app too! Lots of prodding that day..!

@SaraVB from what I can see on Google it can impact sperm motility. I don't know what to believe and what not to tbh, so much conflicting information on Google! I know it's recommended that the woman reduced caffeine so I just changed my coffee to decaffeinated and then if i have a cheeky coke it shouldn't matter too much. Just wondering whether I should get OH to cut down too.

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 14:14

@Bam27 Does caffeine actually impact men's fertility? I cut out almost all caffeine although still have a sneaky diet coke every now and then hahaha Google says it has way less caffeine in it than coffee so I'm thinking it should be ok.

@Dogscanlookup I guess it can be quite difficult the first month if you don't know your cycle length yet.. I guess if you wait about 28 days and test you should still be able to get an accurate response even if your cycle's a few days longer.

Just my luck my OH is just getting fed up of DTD on schedule and so often hahaha the extra sex thing seems to have lasted 1 week 😂

Dogscanlookup · 09/07/2020 13:58

Thank you, it really is 😂 and all the men just loving the extra sex while we faff about haha

Dogscanlookup · 09/07/2020 13:58

It’s a horrible feeling, isn’t it?! Aw that’s good to hear it is possible! I feel I’m so impatient. I’m 31 and never been bothered and now I want it to happen straight away 😂 it feels like forever. And I’m worried when to test because I don’t really know my cycle length! There’s so much I didn’t realise I didn’t know about my body lol

Bam27 · 09/07/2020 13:54

I love that everyone is as Google obsessed as I am! OH thinks I'm crazy.
What do you guys think about caffeine? I've gone completely decaffe but OH still drinks energy drink 🙄 do I need to have a chat with him?
@Daffodil21 sweary rants are perfectly acceptable 😂

acaciabluebell · 09/07/2020 13:05

@SaraVB Yeah I've heard that implantation is most common between 7-10dpo? So a lot of people start testing from 7dpo, but all the videos I've seen where people say "I can see something" at 7dpo I can't see anything at all. It seems like the earliest you can see a proper (faint) line seems to be about 10dpo. That is, if you want to avoid the whole squinting/staring at tests for 30 mins trying to catch a line in the light 😂 which I've definitely done before loool.

I might test on Sunday when I'm 11dpo 🙈 I don't have any fancy tests atm. Resisting the urge to order them just yet. I only have cheap tests, which I know won't pick anything up until well after my period is due.

@Daffodil21 good luck!! 😅 Fingers crossed xx

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 12:55

@acaciabluebell yes apparently it's only after implantation that there's hcg in your system that can be detected by a pregnancy test so that's about 6-12 days after ovulation usually. Although I know this doesn't stop the temptation to test as soon as the TWW starts hahhha

I've never watched the line progression videos but I don't think that would help my mental state at the moment!

I've only got 1 fancy schmancy test in my cupboard at the moment so I'm hoping that will keep me from wanting to test too early!

Daffodil21 · 09/07/2020 12:41

@JTB123 @acaciabluebell going to jump him when he gets home and get him to set his morning alarm earlier for the next couple of days as well as evenings - going to try and cover all bases! I'm so annoyed with myself that we slowed down dtd over the last week. Never mind. Onwards we go..

Sorry for my sweary rant everyone. I have calmed down now (ha 😂)

Going to have to work late tonight now 🙈 haven't been caught up in YouTube videos yet, but endless endless amounts of googling! Glad I'm not the only one!! I hadn't been so bad this cycle, but this morning has not been good!!

acaciabluebell · 09/07/2020 12:24

@SaraVB 😂 it's so easy to get trapped! I've watched a few "line progression" videos now and the lines are practically invisible up until 10/11dpo for most of them. Hopefully I can hold out until then, or I'll 100% drive myself mad!!

JTB123 · 09/07/2020 12:22

@acaciabluebell 😂😂😂 this is literally me

acaciabluebell · 09/07/2020 12:21

@Daffodil21 that must be so annoying! But hopefully you can still catch it and you're in with a chance!

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 12:20

@acaciabluebell I went down that rabbit hole a few weeks ago. Watching 'what I did to conceive quickly' 😂😂

SaraVB · 09/07/2020 12:19

Hi @Dogscanlookup! I feel the same, constantly worrying that something's wrong and I don't know it. My best friend got pregnant first cycle after going off the pill so it should be possible! Good luck with your first TWW it's a complete pain in the ass!

acaciabluebell · 09/07/2020 12:16

I'm on YouTube watching "8dpo positive pregnancy test" videos someone stop me 😂😂😂😂

JTB123 · 09/07/2020 12:09

@Dogscanlookup welcome to the fam 🤣 the obsession is real.....!!!
