@Rm20 @Bam27 my DH is actually ok with every other day, but when I panicked about the really late smiley OPK it definitely put too much pressure on. Eventually we got there that day, but I tried again the following morning and it didn't quite go to plan. We don't normally dtd in mornings after we have the night before but thought I'd give it a go as we hadn't been dtd as often just before, as I though O had either passed or wasn't happening, so I thought AF was on its way in next few days

@Rm20 yes we struggle with the amount bd required. We only ever dtd every 2-3 days and then do more around ovulation. My OH struggles with the pressure of it. Can be very frustrating sometimes when I see other peoples partners loving it and can do it every day and my oh can't, but I know he can't help it.

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 16:36

@Bam27 @JTB123 @Clara9 I can’t figure those strips out at all. I worry I wouldn’t have a clue and miss my window. I used Boots own brand, £11 for 7 proper tests and they were good and very clear.

I only started using them the cycle just gone and I think when TTC you need to use OPKs or it’s literally just hit and miss. Although, apparently DTD every other day should cover all bases. I find I’m struggling with that part though, DTD by calendar! Anyone else struggling?

Clara9 · 11/07/2020 14:43

@JTB123 Yeh good plan. I am going to stop checking for a couple of months and go back to it if still ttc

Bam27 · 11/07/2020 14:42

@Clara9 I used the cheap ones and the clear blue this month. I got a positive with the CB in the morning, but the cheaper opk was still negative (test line was dark but not darker than control Line). I then got my positive from the cheap one in the evening, but I had tested around lunchtime as well and that was also negative. I only got one positive with the cheap tests and if I hadn't held my wee and tested at 10pm that night I would have missed it. But the CB had already picked it up with fmu. So I think the clearblue is much less hassle and takes the guessing out of it, but I quite like seeing the line get darker on the cheaper ones 😂

JTB123 · 11/07/2020 14:34

@Clara9 I've hated them! Not sure if it's because I haven't had a positive one yet or not!

If still TTC next month will definitely invest in the CB ones!

Clara9 · 11/07/2020 14:23

@Rm20 Absolutely! Takes time for our bodies to get back to normal, like you say.

@JTB123 can I ask how useful you find these? I used Clear Blue for a month and got a smiley face, then used these the next month as they are cheaper and never got + response. Maybe I didn't O that month? Or maybe not as easy to use?!

Bam27 · 11/07/2020 14:22

@JTB123 I ovulated on day 24 and my opk looked just like yours the day before I got a positive. The apps tend to go by a typical 28 day cycle, I use mine more to record what's happening now rather than look at what it predicts, it's always been wrong for me, but my cycles are very irregular.

JTB123 · 11/07/2020 14:01

This is my OPK from this morning! The darkest I've ever seen it!! And I'm not CD 22.
Going to DTD tonight and for a few nights if poss and hopefully see it get darker, maybe my cycles are longer than I thought!

@ALew15 I’m so sorry, I missed your message this morning. Congratulations, that’s great news.
@JTB123 the apps aren’t great. I got positive OPK a week later than the app told me I would ovulate. Best just doing OPKs and going from there.

@SVC11 we may just wait for AF arrival together ☹️

SVC11 · 11/07/2020 10:11

@ALew15 congrats! Did you get af cramps at all or no other symptoms... Did a frer yesterday and it was white as you like! Haha. See if af turns up I spose is all I can do...

JTB123 · 11/07/2020 10:07

Morning!

Negative FRER this morning and a nearly positive OPK!!! 😩 which I haven't had all month so maybe I've just got my ovulation date soooo wrong but according to my apps I'm due AF in 7 days!

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 09:25

@Clara9 then we are virtually the same! I’m a pill veteran. Been on it since the age of 16/17 and I’m nearly 30! I think it’s easy to be worried and assume the worst when we can’t get pregnant right away. We think just because we are in late 20/30s that it’s a given that we get pregnant when not using contraception but it’s a whole more complicated than that. Our bodies have spent years having a manufactured period because of our pills. It’s time to let it do it’s thing and find it’s flow (if you like).

I have gotten so sick of beating myself up about this all the time. I hope you can too x

Clara9 · 11/07/2020 08:31

Thanks @Rm20! Know what you mean, I'm optimistic and chilled out half the month and feeling crappy the other half. Wild not explaining to people why.
Learning lots already from the chat on here, although I think it will take some time to learn what all the acronyms mean! Its so weird, have been on an contraceptive with only a couple of gaps since I was 17 and now I'm trying to figure out how my periods etc. work at 30.

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 07:58

@SVC11 I’m the same, was never dry either and I think my luteal phase was about 7/8 days so I’ll be looking at my diet this month too. I had a little bleed on Thursday late morning which was very pink and gone right away after. Since then I’ve had cramps one and off but only dark brown bleed but only enough to mark a pad twice. Hopefully AF appears so I can just get it over with! 😔

ALew15 · 11/07/2020 07:24

@SVC11 my CM was watery>creamy this cycle after O and I thought the same. AF didn't come and got a + I will keep my fingers tightly crossed for you!

Anyone had this experience with the CB weeks indicator tests... just used it and a little book came up on it meaning error. I'm so annoyed. I think I held it in my wee for too long. I wanted to compare this weeks to next weeks. I hate wasting money 😫

SVC11 · 11/07/2020 06:58

@Rm20 yeah I'm deffo in my luteal phase I'm having mild cramps so I'm assuming AF is on the way but I've had a lot of watery cm which is weird cos I thought you dried up before AF arrived. Still no show but cramps are a little more this morning so maybe af will come this afternoon. Which would put my luteal phase at 9 days for 2 cyclrs in a row... If Af does come il look at improving me diet and trying to lengthen the luteal phase next month...

Rm20 · 10/07/2020 23:11

Hey @Clara9, welcome to the thread! I’ve only been on here for a few days and joined for the same reason you did. Already it’s felt a little less lonely with all these lovely ladies to talk to. My OH and I have told 2 people that we are TTC so it is hard not talking about it when it’s literally our everyday life now. We are here if you need us.

@SVC11 and @JTB123 I read about this yesterday and it said if CM is watery before AF your in the luteal phase...apparently but if you google watery CM at any stage of cycle it has an answer for it all as it also says it happens before ovulation 🤷🏼‍♀️

JTB123 · 10/07/2020 22:11

AF not AD! 😂

JTB123 · 10/07/2020 22:11

@SVC11 I feel like this is me right now!!! Altho Unsure if I'm getting it confused with maybe a small amount of EWCM?! I'm CD21 so assumed I'd be past that now, and altho I've not detected a positive OPK I think I've just missed it as I'm on the home straight to AD now as she's due in about 8-9 days x

SVC11 · 10/07/2020 21:16

Talking of no filters. Got lots of watery cm today... When does this normally happen in your cycle?

Bam27 · 10/07/2020 20:23

@Clara9 welcome to the thread! I never used chats before I joined this thread, it's been so good having people to talk to 💐 hope it helps you too.

Clara9 · 10/07/2020 19:30

Good to know, @JTB123! We aren't really telling people we are trying as it adds pressure, so is nice to have somewhere to chat about this stuff honestly!!

JTB123 · 10/07/2020 19:18

@Clara9 welcome hun, it can be a really lonely process and there are no filters here! 😂 x

Clara9 · 10/07/2020 18:36

Hi, I hope its OK for me to post on here. Not really used chats before and am new to Mumsnet. Have been ttc for 5 months now and feeling quite lonely and down after I've got cramps today - so thinking no luck this month either. Find it really weird that no one ever talks about this bit... how difficult the waiting is.
