Hey

This is my 9th month TTC my first baby and I'm 33. I got static smiley on Friday on OPK, and now I'm in my TWW - again! I'm currently on furlough so the wait seems even longer and more painful and I definitely end up going a bit crazy 🤪

Anyone else in similar boat and need keeping sane?! Also any TTC tips you've heard of? I will literally try anything at the moment haha.

@LT103 ahh that's annoying, fingers crossed for you though!
It's an absolute mind field sometimes isn't it!
Do you track your ovulation? If you do what do you use? I've just ordered some Premom strips from amazon

LT103 · 05/07/2020 07:33

@Jadeb1995so sorry to hear that but you sound like you have a plan! Keep thinking positively 🤞
I tested yesterday at 8 dpo with an ic which was obv negative. I also started spotting yesterday. Hasn’t come to much. Just crossing my fingers it’s implantation and it’s not the start of af like last month where I spotted for 5 days!! She’s not due for another week so I hope not. My cycles are usually roughly regular.

Jadeb1995 · 05/07/2020 07:29

Morning ladies, I've done another test this morning which was negative so I'm putting it down to a chemical pregnancy. We're a bit disappointed but it was unexpected so it's ok! Plus it means we can save a bit more money.
But I'm back in the game! I think I missed this months ovulation as it was last weekend but we're going to DTD every other day until my period comes as my cycle was different last month.
How's everyone doing this Sunday morning?

msunflower · 04/07/2020 21:20

@Faith82 we dtd every day during my fertile window but going forward we're going to try the sowrm meets egg method where you do every other day, then three days in a row on your most fertile days. Every day just isn't sustainable especially once we go back to somd sort of normality and start back long hours at work etc! I would Google it if you're interested, I've seen some good reviews and it feels like it fits our lifestyle a bit better!

Faith82 · 04/07/2020 17:33

That’s great @butterfly5291hopefully you will know soon when you are ovulating!

@CAG14 and @Nellyk84 I feel your pain, we were told of restructure last week and so waiting for change proposal paper coming soon to tell us who is affected. I’m so worried it could be me. But equally there’s some consolation in knowing many others are also in same situation. It’s not great timing ttc but I’m not waiting any longer!

Can I ask you all a tmi question, how many days in your fertile window do you try to DTD? Mentally I think we need to be doing it every day to make sure we don’t miss an opportunity, but it’s a lot of pressure and not always possible. Would be great to know from you ladies how many days you aim for, I’m guessing the most important days are day before and day of ovulation.

Nellyk84 · 04/07/2020 13:49

@CAG14 I would think I am. I'm the last person in which usually means the first out. I'm the only used vehicle sales person for the whole group and they're telling me there aren't enough enquiries to warrant me going back in. The guy whose been with company for like 20 years who does used trucks is looking after both sides of enquiries. I'd say I'm for the chop. One thing this has taught us though is that I don't need to bring in as much as I usually do for us to manage though. On that basis, it's meant I've been able to look at things a bit more office-y and shave about 5 to 6 hours of my working week. Only problem is it's super duper competitive out there right now. Not in a position I'd thought I'd be halfway through the year.

CAG14 · 04/07/2020 13:31

@nellyk84 oh no please rant away and don't worry. That does sound tough, annoying about the car too. Do you know if you will definitely be at risk?

OP posts:
Nellyk84 · 04/07/2020 13:26

@CAG14 I think if I were you, I'd be waiting as well. Unfortunately for me, I only started 2nd Jan and I guess, technically still in my 6 month probation period. Worse still is I have a company vehicle which will have to go back so we'd need another car as well. Sorry for being the actual Negative Nelly, just need to vent a bit x

CAG14 · 04/07/2020 13:20

@Nellyk84 I will keep an eye out for things but I won't jump as I'd get decent pay out for being made redundant. The thing is I work for a bespoke travel company and I manage a sales team and they need to reduce the sales team because they have been so hard hit by corona, so that will put me at risk as well. Just hate the waiting and not knowing it is horrible isn't it? Yes my friend doesn't know I'm ttc but she should really watch what she says as you never know what people are going through.

@butterfly5291 oh that's good news

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 11:28

Woooohoooo! The gynaecologist got my coil out!!!

Now the fun starts! God knows when I'm going to start ovulating!

Nellyk84 · 04/07/2020 10:42

@Pippy20 It was me, I've been anti-children for so long, now I'm with someone I want to have children with but now I'm 36, officially morbidly obese and stressed out my pea-noodle lol

@CAG14 Its a horrible feeling isn't it?! Are you just waiting out or are you trying to find something to jump before you get pushed??
Also, I'm not a fan of people that gloat about their so called easiness of things and accomplishments. People that make themselves happy by being a bit gloat over someone else, especially if they know it's something you're struggling with. Doesn't very supportive to me x

CAG14 · 04/07/2020 09:55

@nellyk84 I am in the same position at work. I've been on furlough since 1st April and not been brought back. They are starting compulsory redundancies in the next couple of weeks. Yuck.

I'm 34 and all my friends have at least 1 kid. Every time I see them they are looking to see whether I'm drinking alcohol or asking if I want kids. It is really annoying! One of them has 2 kids and keeps saying "I couldn't believe how easy it was to get pregnant" because both times she got pregnant first month of ttc.

Pippy20 · 04/07/2020 08:21

Haha yes I’m a fan of vitamins - vit b, CoQ10, folic acid and DHA. I’ve also in the last month started royal jelly. Surprised I don’t rattle when I walk!

I’m so glad I’ve found other people who feel just like me - I go through days of being so completely overwhelmed by it I wonder how I’ll get through the next day/week/month. We hadn’t told anyone we were ttc, and only told our parents after the miscarriage as we had to cancel various family stuff and I basically just hid away for as long as possibly - one benefit of the lockdown was I didn’t have to see anyone! Work were also very understanding which was good.

Everything going on at the moment makes it much worse ttc as there’s nothing else to break up the month, like all the usual stuff we’d be doing, and having a couple of trips cancelled which normally would have distracted us and allowed us to ‘relax’ lol - if one more person tells me to relax I’m going to punch them in the throat.

Both my younger sister and sister in law are currently doing ivf, so fortunately both our families are very sensitive to the whole baby talk stuff.

I’m not sure who mentioned it above but I was the same about kids - wasn’t really sure if I wanted them and wasn’t that fussed. Then my niece came along and I was like crikey no I definitely don’t want kids! 3 years after that my nephew arrived and my ovaries were like HEELLLLLLOOOO!!!! He was such a happy squishy little thing, and brought so much joy I was like hey maybe I do want kids! Shame my niece was such a grizzly grumpy little thing otherwise I may have started earlier! 😂

Nellyk84 · 04/07/2020 08:18

@LT103 Thanks, I know we're not the only ones but we've such a tumultuous 18 months with one thing and another, we finally thought 2020 was going to give us a break and be a bit easier on us but no such luck lol

Tiff94 · 04/07/2020 07:31

@LT103 I know what you mean I'm back at work after months off but only 3 days all I think about half the day is TTC I'd almost convince myself I was last month and AF even came late first time is over a year and I was rather disappointed when she arrived. It's hard when it's the only thing that pops on your mind I find myself literally thinking about it over 90% of the day

LT103 · 04/07/2020 07:03

@Nellyk84 that sounds like a stressful time. So many people in similar situations. l’m Really hoping for some good news for you!!

@Faith82 I’m the same. All my friends are either in the single/never want kids category or they’ve had their family and have school age kids. None of my friends are at the same stage as me! Both my sister in laws had kids recently and likely to try again so will have people to talk about it with if/when I get pregnant at least I guess.

I feel this month, probably because I’m off on furlough, I’ve thought about nothing else other than ttc and I feel like if this is going to take a while, I can’t let it consume me like this. Not sure how I make myself relax about it all though. I think a bit is just excitement now we’ve started but think I will definitely Need to try to think about it less and just to let things happen.

Nellyk84 · 03/07/2020 23:58

Oh yeah, and we're moving next month as well Sad

Nellyk84 · 03/07/2020 23:54

@Faith82 There's quite a few of us around to be fair. I always said I never wanted children and now realised it was just the blokes I was with before were the problem lol if you'd have told me this time last year I'd be TTC, I'd have laughed at you lol
Just a tough week. I've been on furlough since 1st April. Our business was allowed to reopen on June 1st but I've still not been brought back. Then to top it off, an email was sent company wide looking for volunteers for redundancy before they start culling......spent 3.hours yesterday trying to get Word to install on my laptop and another 4 trawling jobs with like a 100 other applicants. Stress on top of stress makes for perfect fertilisation hahaha

Faith82 · 03/07/2020 23:49

@Nellyk84 that’s good to know, thanks. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person in their late 30’s ttc, as all my friends have toddlers or like 10 year olds! I’m 38 in Sept and OH has just turned 39 this month. Sorry to hear you felt that way, I think this can all really take it’s toll. We need to be extra kind to ourselves through this, it’s a emotional rollercoaster! Confused

Nellyk84 · 03/07/2020 23:27

@LMA27 I haven't done the legs on the air trick......yet! Lol However, I now lie for at least 20 mins terrified to move in case I lose too much "magical man juice" before my trip to the loo haha

@Faith82 I'm 36 and DP is 38 and we're TTC baby No1. Only had my Mirena out on 11th June so at the very beginning of this. Had a bit of a down week this week though where it was all feeling a little overwhelming.

CAG14 · 03/07/2020 22:44

@pippy20 I've bought the ferti.lily cup which is aimed to keep the sperm up there and close to the cervix to prevent the worry of it leaking out. I've also heard an aspirin a day helps for some reason?? I'm popping every pill going these days 😅

OP posts:
Pippy20 · 03/07/2020 22:03

Haha I’m glad it’s not just me with the legs in the air lol - husband finds it very entertaining/disturbing!

What other things have people tried? There’s a great episode of the podcast the infertile Mafia called ‘WTF is TTC’ - definitely worth a listen very funny and lots of things I didn’t know about/might be worth looking into

CAG14 · 03/07/2020 20:52

Hey gang!!! So nice to see so many of you on here now. After I posted my first post on this I thought no one would reply. So lovely to all support each other whatever journey we are on.

@Jadeb1995 oh darling this is so stressful, I am so sorry and I hope you get the news you need from the blood tests.

@lma27 so glad you got your solid smiley! I got my first sarcastic flashing today haha! I've just bought the ferti.lily cup which helps keep the sperm up there after so you don't have to lie down forever hoping it does leak out haha.

@pippy20 welcome! So sorry to hear what you have been through.

Welcome to all the other newcomers too!!!

OP posts:
LMA27 · 03/07/2020 20:28

@Faith82 I know I honestly think the same. I’m convinced nothing stays in there 🤔 haha

If OH goes the loo or shower I’ll lie there with legs in the air and if he comes back in the room I’ll ‘act normal’ 😂 otherwise I’ll do the same as you @LT103 and give it 10 mins before going the loo

@Tiff94 oh you’re at the exciting bit now :)

Thanks for everyone’s honesty. I couldn’t seem to find much proof that sticking your legs in the air actually increased chances, just makes you look mad haha x

Tiff94 · 03/07/2020 20:21

@Faith82 definitely know what you mean by lonely I feel that a bit not having anyone to talk with

@msunflower I use Flo and Ovia to track my cycles I have been tracking my cycle for almost a year and a half since I stopped the pull after it messed my hormones system up crazy so I know most time I ovulate as I always get EWCM and ovulation cramping does now that we started trying I'm hoping to do without testing kits and see how we go for the first few months I'm hoping for an BFP this month though.

@LMA27 we can always chat with each other :) I should finish AF today and will more then like ovulate next sat/sun so busy week ahead haha 😂 I totally was thinking about starting to stick my legs in they air this thought came to me yesterday glad you asked it
