Hey

This is my 9th month TTC my first baby and I'm 33. I got static smiley on Friday on OPK, and now I'm in my TWW - again! I'm currently on furlough so the wait seems even longer and more painful and I definitely end up going a bit crazy 🤪

Anyone else in similar boat and need keeping sane?! Also any TTC tips you've heard of? I will literally try anything at the moment haha.

@Jadeb1995 I hope you get the answers you need because it was all very confusing for you.

@CAG14 thank you, I'm waiting for the doctor to call me with the results on my bloods so that I can speak to him. I got my positives a week after AF was due and 2 weeks after I bled thinking it was AF / implantation / still have no idea lol!
Hopefully the doctor can explain things to me!

CAG14 · 05/07/2020 20:09

@Jadeb1995 my cycle went back to being completely normal which was good. To be honest I wouldn't have even known I was pregnant if it wasn't for the fact I took a FRER test 2 days before my period was due and got a positive result. Then AF turned up 4 days later so was only 2 days late. The next cycle was a normal 28 days again. Hopefully yours will go back to normal very quickly.

@1992EM hi! Will have to pick your brain on the opks and SMEM method if AF arrives for me next week as have decided I'll start tracking via that too 🙌🏻

Is it ok to join? I have been following the thread for a day or so and thought I would introduce myself. We have been ttc for 3 months (3rd cycle now). First month trying opks and using the flo app. We are also going to follow smep too. I am cd6 just now and have a faint line on opks that is getting darker since yesterday. I am using cheaper ones until I get a darker line then will try the CB smiley ones. Also having lots of berries and foods recommended for fertility so fingers crossed this is our month. My cycle is normally 30 days so flo is saying peak will be the 15th but will see what the opks say.

Tiff94 · 05/07/2020 19:34

@butterfly5291 hopefully this will clue you in I would maybe try around cycle day 9/10 and see if you get a faint line if not try each day i here afternoon or night time is better to test then in the morning

butterfly5291 · 05/07/2020 18:36

@Tiff94 I only got my Mirena coil out yesterday so have zero idea of when my cycle will start.

Jadeb1995 · 05/07/2020 18:33

@CAG14 what was your cycle like after your CP?

Tiff94 · 05/07/2020 18:16

@butterfly5291 I just bought some too to try this cycles I think I'm going to start the night before my first day on my apps see what is shows.

Faith82 · 05/07/2020 17:57

Thanks @CAG14 and my husband is a bit similar in that he doesn’t have a massively high sex drive, and so keeping things as and relaxed as much as possible as you say @LMA27. it’s prob obvious to him when I’m ovulating as I initiate things, and more regularly lol. But he’s not complaining! I have to remind myself that he’s not a robot and if he’s too tired or ill or something on my peak day then I have to not let it devastate me too much.

butterfly5291 · 05/07/2020 17:44

@Mia1985x thanks! I've bought some femometer opks, they've just arrived. I don't know when I should start testing though? What do you guys think?

LMA27 · 05/07/2020 16:20

@CAG14 haha sounds like my OH, he walked me home around 2am and then went back to our friends to carry on haha. When he eventually came home he didn’t even make it up the stairs he fell asleep on the couch 😂 I had a great sleep though without him snoring next to me haha

@LT103 argh honestly it’s so hard isn’t it :( I only have 1 test left so I’m definitely waiting to test if AF is late but for some reason I’m not convinced this is the month for me.
It might be too early for you test yet though... just wait a little longer 🤞🏼

LemonDrizzle44 · 05/07/2020 16:17

@LMA27 Thanks. I have some FRERs so plan to test tomorrow morning if AF doesn't arrive before then.

LT103 · 05/07/2020 16:02

@LMA27 that was my plan this month initially but I tested yesterday at 8 dpo and today at 9 dpo.....wishing I’d waited now 🤦🏻‍♀️ I will learn I’m sure

LMA27 · 05/07/2020 15:31

Hi @LemonDrizzle44
I know testing is scary incase you get a negative but at least you know the answer and you can then prepare for the next month. Easier said than done though isn’t it.
I never test before AF arrives I always wait and if I’m late that’s when I test, if it’s a negative then I’ve only done 1 test and that’s only 1 disappointment... that’s the only advice I can give.
Got everything crossed you get a BFP x

CAG14 · 05/07/2020 15:29

@LMA27 I am also feeling rough as we went to a pub for 1 drink then out for a meal and then when we got home I drank gin and tonics and fell asleep on the sofa. Oops! Yeah I know OH definitely feels the pressure so I try not to mention when it is peak, but he always knows as normally when we aren't TTC we only have sex once a week at the most. It is hard isn't it to find a balance, after 10 months of TTC the fun is harder for us to keep up!

LMA27 · 05/07/2020 15:24

Hey everyone, how’s your weekend been?
Myself and OH went over to our friends garden for a few socially distanced drinks last night and I drank more than I planned so feeling a little delicate today haha but I can’t help but feel guilty for doing it incase it affected my chances of conceiving this time :( I’m only about 2dpo.

@Nellyk84 your comment about the man juice made me laugh haha

@Jadeb1995 really sorry your result turned out the way it has, but your attitude is the best way to be, positive and moving forward. Got everything crossed for you for next month

@LT103 I might try the femometer strips, they seem like a more reasonably priced way to track.

@CAG14 @Faith82 my OH doesn’t want the pressure of ‘scheduled sex’ so we literally just go with the flow, he knows roughly when is my peak but we try not to force it, if that makes sense. I’m basically just trying to keep it fun.

LemonDrizzle44 · 05/07/2020 15:08

Hi ladies.
Hope you don't mind me joining. Also TTC DC#1.

I came off the pill earlier this year and have 27-31 day cycles. I'm currently CD31 and have been cramping for the past 8 days like AF is on her way. Although I usually only have cramps on the day AF comes and never before. I usually track my ovulation by CM and have ovulation pain. I usually ovulate on CD14 but think I was slightly later and ovulated on CD15/16 and DTD CD14 &17 (as DP works away). Got a BFN 10DPO although could have been 8DPO if I ovulated later.

So from tomorrow I'm officially late but can't face testing again and seeing the disappointment of a BFN. Apart from the cramps for 8 days I don't really have any other symptoms.

Mia1985x · 05/07/2020 14:41

Hey everyone,

Just caught up on all the messages from past 2 days as I've had a crazy busy couple of days. Hi to all the new people, reading so many things I can relate to. The legs in the air chat also made me chuckle, I've been doing this the past couple of months too and was feeling crazy for doing it! I'm going to have a listen to that podcast that you recommended @Pippy20 just now while I catch up on some cleaning so thanks for that.

@Jadeb1995 so sorry to hear 😔 love the positivity of back in the game though.

@butterfly5291 great news your coil is out now. What's your plan for starting with tracking, did you get some OPKs?

@Flittingabout Best of luck with your pregnancy, so happy for you. After such a long wait it must feel almost surreal, enjoy telling people when the time comes. Thanks so much for the advice and tips you have passed on too 😊

I am 35 and TTC for baby no 1 for 14 months now and currently in TWW. Trying to stay busy to keep my mind off it, just hate this waiting game!

CAG14 · 05/07/2020 14:27

@jadeb1995 I'm so sorry to hear this. I had a CP in February and it is horrible to get your hopes up followed my a BFN. Sounds like you have a great frame of mind though. Fingers crossed this will be your month.

@Flittingabout best of luck with everything!

@Faith82 me and OH usually DTD every day from when we get a "flashing smiley" on the clearblue ovulation sticks and when we get the solid smiley indicating the peak, we do it on that day and the day after. My OH doesn't have a high sex drive so sometimes it really can be a struggle to do it constantly like this and TTC definitely takes the romance out of sex!!

Faith82 · 05/07/2020 09:37

Thanks @msunflower I have looked into that and it’s almost what we are already doing so feel encouraged by that. Will try and stick a bit more to the steps it lays out because I imagine it makes you feel like you’re really covering all bases!

6 dpo today and have been feeling quite warm almost like I’ve got a raised temperature (we don’t own a thermometer to check) but it could just be stress!

Best wishes @Flittingabout really hope everything works out for you, great news x

Flittingabout · 05/07/2020 09:16

Morning all.

Sorry to read that Jade.

I'm going to bow out now but I wanted to say I was told by my doctor there is no need to lie with legs up (unless there is a problem with your cervix) as your DP swimmers will be inside you within milisecs and only the useless ones fall out! I was also taking folic acid, coq10 and vitamin d, with EPO until ovulation (usually went off CM for this).

Best of luck in your journeys.

Really hoping mine sticks. I think I am now CD35 and still getting the courage up to tell DP. I can't believe it. I will be almost 37 if this poppy seed makes it. I started trying at 33. It certainly isn't as easy as when you're not 20 and therefore everyone is super duper fertile!

Stabal · 05/07/2020 09:02

@Jadeb1995 really sorry to hear that 💕

LT103 · 05/07/2020 08:35

@Jadeb1995 this is my first month tracking. I used the Femometer strips which worked really well. They have a free app and you just take a pic of the strips and it interprets them for you. But even without that it was really obvious to see which ones were peak. Not knowing anything about my cycle, I started testing once a day from cd7, then 2-3 times a day from cd 10 or 11. Got a high on day 12 and peak on day 13. Def got cramps and some spotting morNing of day 14.
I also tracked bbt this month which rose after cd15 so confirmed I had def ovulated. Still up and not fallen yet so taking that as a good sign that this isn’t af but I know it can fall just a day or 2 before
