False positive or false negative??

Mumof2girls92 · 09/06/2020 12:55

I need abit of advice. I’m on the pill and my husband and I are NOT TTC. However AF was due on the 6th and there is no sign, I’ve also really went off some foods and I haven’t been able to have dinner in a couple of days.
So I took a test last night (top one) BFN.
Then I took one this morning (middle) with first pee, looks like a BFP (big fat positive).
Then I took one later morning on a clear blue and BFN.
Am I going mad or am I just testing wrong? Am I testing too early? Or is it a false positive?

Any help is appreciated!!

@misssoaps
Yeah it seems to be the case. Although unplanned, a baby would be very loved and welcome. We plan on expanding but just not quite yet, holding off another year or so. But obviously if it happened with a “oooopsie” it wouldn’t have been the end of the world. But it is what it is.

It's more likely to be a chemical than a false positive. So you had just enough hcg to pick up on that one test, but nothing else. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear but I think that's probably the case.

Mumof2girls92 · 11/06/2020 12:33

Hello, yeah I don’t another one this morning, it was also negative.
So I assume as I’ve only had one that looks positive, that it was a false positive??

Does look negative. Have you done another this morning?

JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert · 11/06/2020 07:52

Did you do another one this morning OP?

Spanneroo · 10/06/2020 18:38

I agree it looks negative. It may have been a chemical pregnancy if the first was a feint positive and it's since become negative. Good idea to test in a few days if no AF

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 18:14

I pee’d in a cup about 45 mins ago the tests came and I dipped one, it was negative. So I’m guessing the Tesco was a pretty convincing positive? From the 3 I took originally, the middle and top are the same Tesco one from the same batch, but yet one can be a neg and one can give a false positive. It’s so strange.

However, I will keep the other FRER and either test in a couple of day’s or if AF hasn’t arrived.

What do you guys think??

Following to see if you are pregnant or not! Hopefully the frers arrive soon! You can wee in a cup and keep for a couple hours but don't keep and use too much longer after as it can affect the results of the test

Curiosity101 · 10/06/2020 17:44

I was just about to suggest a plastic cup and then saving it till the delivery arrives. I don't know if it would work as effectively or not. But if you've gotta go then you've gotta go 😄

ToothFairyNemesis · 10/06/2020 17:37

Wow that’s a lot of time to not to wee.

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 17:30

@JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert- I literally am! 8
I haven’t been since this morning! I wonder if I could pee in a plastic cup and then dip it when they arrive??

JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert · 10/06/2020 17:13

Are you absolutely bursting? 😂

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 17:06

Amazon have changed the time of my delivery to be delivered by 9pm, for all the deliveries to delay and take its time!
I’ve done nothing all day but read up about Tesco tests, blue dye tests, CB digital tests, reviews, evap lines. It’s driving me maaaaaad!!

ToothFairyNemesis · 10/06/2020 15:14

No, people test in the morning as their urine is more concentrated that’s all.

jammyone · 10/06/2020 14:51

Following eagerly!

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 14:48

@ToothFairyNemesis are they really? I always thought they were higher in the morning?? I haven’t went for a wee since I took the digital one this morning, I’m currently waiting on a delivery of the first response ones, trying to hold in a wee 😂

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 14:47

@Hailsxx no way! I would have thought with knowing your birth control they would prescribe something that won’t clash! Ffs 🙄

@Wewearpinkonwednesdays I literally have never heard of false positives before, I always thought it wouldn’t show if you didn’t have the hormones, then I read about evap lines and the rest of it and totally second guessed myself! So you had all positives? Congratulations! How early did you test?

@PutOnAHappyFace that’s crazy. And that’s where my doubt is, these are Tesco tests and I’ve heard blue dye ones are sooo bad for it!

ToothFairyNemesis · 10/06/2020 13:48

@Y @Mumof2girls92 your hcg levels are higher in the afternoon, so it’s best not to use fmu but rather to hold you wee, and try not to eat or drink for 3-4 hours.

PutOnAHappyFace · 10/06/2020 13:43

I had 2 'positive' tests from Tesco last month, both came up before the 3 minute mark. And I was not pregnant which was confirmed with a lot of other tests. I was devastated. There is a lot online about them.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 10/06/2020 13:39

Apparently false positives are very uncommon, so probably more likely you are pregnant. I looked that up just the other day when I had a 3 positives (but all from the same pack) and couldn't quite believe it. Still considering buying another one to make sure, even although I've got all the symptoms I had with the first 2 😂

Hailsxx · 10/06/2020 13:35

Hey,

This is a really confusing one for you 😂😂 i hope you get some answers soon,

just wanted to let you know that antibiotics can effect your pill, I was on the pill for years and anytime I needed antibiotics my doctor would always tell me to use condoms if having sex as the antibiotics can make your pill less effective, I ended up getting pregnant while on the pill 😂 shes now 7 😂😂😂

mansah2 · 10/06/2020 13:04

Fingers crossed for you

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 12:35

@JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert yeah they can, but they asked about my birth control etc so I think they would have gave me ones that didn’t affect it. Well I assume anyways!
Haha let’s hope they come more for 2:45 time and not 6:45 time!! 👀 I will do

OP posts:
JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert · 10/06/2020 12:06

I'm sure antibiotics can affect your pill working... Yes deffo hold a wee in until they arrive 😂 let us know the results!!

Mumof2girls92 · 10/06/2020 11:50

@JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert I ordered two 👀 I’m soooo tempted too! Checked and it says delivery will be between 2:45-6:45, debating keeping in a wee until they come 👀😂

@Curiosity101-I never realised that, I’ve had the nexplanon for years (other than the times I had my two children) but in between pregnancies that’s been my birth control. I had it removed in January to go on the pill as it was due to be removed and I wasn’t getting on with the side effects for a while.
So I’m quite clueless with the pill knowing the stuff about withdrawal bleeding etc. I just assumed it was your period that happened on your pill free days. So basically looking back at when my last withdrawal bleed is useless as it’s not my period! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

The only time I can think of is I was on antibiotics and painkillers a few weeks back, I was quite poorly and I may not have taken my pill at my normal times as I was whoozy.

I’m curious to see my FRER results tomorrow too 😂

I’ve been reading a lot of evap lines etc just to see, as blue dyes are notorious for them, but they all say they tend to be thin and colourless. That middle test to me doesn’t look like that.
