TTC after stopping breastfeeding - June 2020

Hi all,
I recently stopped breastfeeding as of two days ago and am TTC for baby #2. Period showed up April 15th (while still breastfeeding) but havent had one since. Hoping stopping breastfeeding will kick start my periods again ASAP so I can begin properly tracking my cycles and conceive! Anyone else in the same boat? When did you ovulate after stopping breastfeeding?

I've bought some IC OPKs as have no idea about my cycles yet, but only started taking yesterday. Haven't even done one cycle yet and I already feel obsessed! Blush

Going to be a looong journey so company would be great! xx

Hi all, I’m new to the forum and I’m looking for some advice as we are currently TTC. We had our DS 18 months ago and I stopped BF 3 months ago. I have had one visit from AF but that was 2 months ago and still no sign at all of ovulation. I started doing daily ovulation tests using Clear Blue but I have given up doing them as they have all been negative. We’ve been doing the deed every two-three days and no success. Prior to having our DS I would say I had clear signs from my body that I was ovulating, however I haven’t had any signs of ovulation. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I see our GP? Any advice greatly received please ladies.

@MamabearM congratulations!! Wonderful news, I'm thrilled for you! We seem to be a CD 20/21 kinda group 😂 Wishing you a very y happy and healthy 9 months!
I've had horrendous queasiness this first trimester - so much worse than first time, which has been tough while looking after my little one, but thankfully easing off now, and my 12 week scan is tomorrow! Eeeek 🤞 so nervous and excited at the same time xx

Hi @Letsgohopping

I had great success with the clearblue OPK’s and got a peak on CD20 and got my BFP yesterday 😀. Hope your pregnancy is progressing well x

MamabearM · 07/07/2020 20:13

Oh wow @Letsgohopping that’s fantastic news. Delighted for you, hope you have a healthy 9 months.
Great news regarding the IC OPKs and they do provide reassurance. However I’m questioning mine now. Good work on the DTD every other day.

I was feeling a bit hopeful this month as we have been on it more this month haha. However yesterday I thought I was 13DPO but now the app thinks I’m only 6DPO. Either way looks like a long cycle 😞. I’m just impatient, it’s my personality. Fingers crossed I will be joining you in the BFP party soon x

Letsgohopping · 07/07/2020 19:59

Welcome @MamabearM! Lovely to hear from you. I was actually really lucky and got my Bfp this month! For the first time, I used IC OPKs and got a dark line on CD21, and found out I was pregnant 10DPO! So using OPKs worked great for me, but haven't used the clearblue ones before, nor temping, I'm afraid! My cycles were quite long afterbreastfeeding, (37 days) so felt like the wait was forever and using OPKs helped to reassure me that I was ovulating at least. To be honest, we were DTD every other day after AF, and then when I got the positive OPK did it three days in a row, and that seemed to do the trick 👍

Absolutely! I think it is quite tricky for us mums who want another DC, as first time mums are eager for their first, and second/third mums have got their babies already, so sometimes feels like neither group want to hear from us!

You're still not out this month until AF arrives! x

Hi all,

Hope you don’t mind me joining. Big congrats newbie, hope your pregnancy is progressing well.
How are all the rest of you getting on? My DS is 13 months and my periods returned May 1st when I reduced the feeding to morning and night when he was 11.5 months. I stopped a month later when he was 12.5 months old as he was only feeding off one side (not ideal) but he hasn’t seemed to miss it too much thankfully.

My first cycle was 32 days which I was happy with as my periods prior to having him were a bit irregular. Currently on cycle day 35 and my period was due to start today. Tested this morning just to check and BFN!

This last cycle I have been using the clearblue advanced OPK and charting my temp. I got a solid smiley CD20 after 6 flashing days! Have any of use been using them? Fertility friend had me as ovulating CD21 but fertility friend changed it to CD29 after I entered another high temp yesterday morning so who knows when or if I ovulated. It’s frustrating as I got pregnant with my DS by chance on day CD74 (thought I was infertile-obv. not) and we weren’t actively trying (not trying to sound annoying) so I’m not used to this temping, OPK game. I’m so grateful for my son but like most of you want a second and for them to be close in age.

Hope to hear from you soon X

@Saddlethehorseimdone thinking about it I'd say my sense of smell is heightened too x

Newbie9 · 16/06/2020 08:49

@Saddlethehorseimdone ah yes!
I'm hardly feeding now, he's cut right back and sleeping better as a result. I'll prob get him sleeping through just before baby arrives! 😂 fingers crossed everything goes well

Yes funny isn't it, I had a couple of days of nausea last week too but as I've had nothing for a few days I genuinely thought I was out xx

Saddlethehorseimdone · 16/06/2020 08:31

Internet cheapie! I don't think the lines ever go very dark on them. Usually when people post on here there's just a shadow of a line, but yours is clearly there.
Interesting with your symptoms and great you don't need to completely stop BF if you don't want to. X

Newbie9 · 16/06/2020 08:16

Thank you!
Being thick, what's an IC?
Just done a second & also positive eeek
I had cramps and terrible back ache around day 7-8 so now I'd say that was implantation but otherwise not much else. Still feel pretty normal but am quite tired xx

Letsgohopping · 16/06/2020 07:25

@Newbie9 oh my gosh yes!!! Absolutely positive to me!! I'm so excited for you! Agree, quite strong for an IC. Do tell us your symptoms if any. Im trying to spot like mad 😂 which is crazy for 6 dpo! Over the moon for you x

Saddlethehorseimdone · 16/06/2020 07:20

@Newbie9 oh my gosh definitely!! Congratulations. From what I've seen, that looks quite strong for an IC. Absolutely amazing news.
Does your partner know? Have you had any symptoms this month? So very pleased for you X

Newbie9 · 16/06/2020 07:00

Morning this is my test, looks positive to me?! Xx

Newbie9 · 15/06/2020 21:44

@Saddlethehorseimdone they definitely can be irregular, hope they sort themselves out soon
Thanks I'll let you know x

Saddlethehorseimdone · 15/06/2020 21:40

@Newbie9 everything crossed for you! Should definitely show if you are 12-14 dpo.
All good here, currently on cycle day 16 but have no idea if I've ovulated yet as not tacking and first one since baby so heard they can be irregular! May start tracking in a few months if not successful.

Newbie9 · 15/06/2020 21:27

@Saddlethehorseimdone I'm testing in the morning now, I'll be 12-14dpo, I think 14 actually but I guess you can never be 100%
So hoping if it was going to be positive it would show up. Af due weds-fri
How are you x

Saddlethehorseimdone · 15/06/2020 21:23

@Newbie9 did you test?
How's everyone getting on? X

Newbie9 · 10/06/2020 20:06

@Letsgohopping AF is due16-17th but might test mon 15th if I can wait that long!!
It's a really hard 2 weeks x

Letsgohopping · 10/06/2020 20:00

Haha! 😂 oo all sounds exciting though! 🤞 when are you due to "officially" test? x

OP posts:
Newbie9 · 10/06/2020 19:28

@Letsgohopping I sure am 🤣 it's so hard not to! Today is 8dpo
I had mild cramps day 6/7 which I know is really early for implantation so may not have been, I thought af was coming but thankfully no sign yet 🤞
Keep getting the odd twinge today but I'm all over literally every little thing haha
Hope your cycles sort themselves x

Letsgohopping · 10/06/2020 16:54

Hi ladies, hows it all going? Are you symptom spotting in your TWW @Newbie9??? I can never help but do so!!

Cycle day 20 for me, and finally got a positive OPK so hoping to BD tonight and keeping everything crossed! Looks like another 35+ cycle for me. Pre-baby they were 30 days, so the last one being 37 days feels pretty long!

OP posts:
Newbie9 · 05/06/2020 14:54

@Saddlethehorseimdone my cycles have only recently returned, they've been quite long but I've ovulated a lot earlier this month so expect it'll be more like 28-30 days this month.
Good plan Smile best of luck x

Saddlethehorseimdone · 05/06/2020 11:55

@Newbie9 it's my first period since 2018 so I have no idea when the next one will be as I've heard cycles can take a few months to settle down. Pre baby they were 26 days. Not going to use OPKs but plan on DTD everyday after period until cycle day 16 then every other day after that and will hopefully catch. The first time we did that when trying last time I became pregnant Grin
How long are your cycles?

Newbie9 · 05/06/2020 08:28

@Letsgohopping thank you I used 1 a day but then bought the clear blue Monday so tried that afternoon and it was Tuesday I got the positive when I tested morning & afternoon. I haven't tested since
Thanks Hun I hope he gets used to it quickly, I'm shattered this morning!! Good luck this month

@Saddlethehorseimdone exciting to start this month! How long have you been tracking cycles, do you know roughly when you'll ovulate?

Saddlethehorseimdone · 05/06/2020 08:09

@letsgohopping AF arrived Sunday night so those cramps must have been ovulation. Very excited to be officially trying this month! Thanks for asking.
Hopefully your cycle is a bit shorter this month. Do you remember what they were pre baby?
@newbie9 good luck in tour TWW keep us posted.
@dr273 definitely needed my husband. I guess with number two it'll not be such a shock.
