Penguin huddle 🐧🐧🐧 TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 35 - time for some sticky BFP's

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 19/05/2020 15:36

Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to give and receive support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy or baby. Pregnancy and child loss is one of the most difficult things we can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

I have found so much comfort from the lovely ladies on this thread and I’m hoping for lots of BFPs in coming months!

@KerryW87 That's annoying. I know it is early days for you and I hope it settles soon. We are so sensitive to everything when pregnant / after pregnancy or TTC x

I'm okay, thanks. Now I know where I am in my cycle I am starting to think about it. I'm not really hopeful I but I know there's a chance.

This month it's a year since my MC and 18 months since we lost our DD so that's a bit crap but I'm trying not to think about it.

Work is a great distraction for me, as are our bunnies! 💗

KerryW87 · 25/08/2020 14:23

@BunnyLovesBananas Neither am I! My sister in law and I have been practising whenever we can and it's been so good to have a distraction. Although...my skint elbows, knee and ankle might say otherwise 😂

I've just started bleeding again two days after my period stopped so it is getting really frustrating :( Just hope it starts to settle.

How's your week going? xx

BunnyLovesBananas · 25/08/2020 14:03

@KerryW87 Skateboarding sounds fun though I'm not very coordinated! It's frustrating not knowing what your cycle is doing but good you have a distraction x

@Mumlili9 I'm sorry to hear that. It is very early days so I hope it gets better if you plan to stay for a while x

Kiki275 · 25/08/2020 13:11

@Mumlili9 oh no!!! Was it a lot more hands on/ violent than you anticipated? Are there any other options available work wise?x

Mumlili9 · 25/08/2020 12:49

@BunnyLovesBananas honestly awful ,I'm not sure im the right person for this job at all.

KerryW87 · 25/08/2020 12:47

@Sakura54 You're so welcome and I'm so pleased everything is going well, here's hoping the stress begins to ease as the weeks progress, lovely to hear from you! ❤️

@BunnyLovesBananas Oh, that's great you've went through most of the TWW unaware! Definitely the longest two weeks normally haha, so thats great :) Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

@Mumlili9 How has the new job been?

I'm ok, thanks for asking :) Had my two days leave from work after the bad day on Thursday and feeling much better. Turns out the "mid-cycle bleed" was infact my first period after labour so I'm now on my first (hopefully) normal cycle 🤞

Been keeping my mind off things with...wait for it...skateboarding 😂🙈 My 10 year old and my partner took it up over lockdown, and they gave me a nudge to try it last week. I am NOT great at it but it's actually been lovely to have something that takes my mind off the awful past month and off of TTC for a few hours in the day! Although, secretly hoping that because I'm enjoying it so much, Sod's law will kick in and give us a BFP first month since it's definitely not a pregnancy-appropriate activity...can only hope? 😂🤞 xx

BunnyLovesBananas · 25/08/2020 08:51

@Semele5069 Aww you have a bunny too? What sort is he? I hope he's okay. My DH is similar. He knows a lot about the rabbits as we had two for 4 years (but it was one of them who sadly died recently) and now we have two more. He knows what to feed them and that sort of thing but I'm not sure he could handle them and pick them up if he needed to. Can you get him to send you short videos when he's feeding them or something like that? It might set hour mind at ease if nothing else. We were both away for a night at the weekend and his friend fed them but I was worrying all weekend just because I wasn't with them! (I have NC BTW) Nothing has brought me joy recently like my bunnies have

In other news, AF is due in a day or two. I don't know whether I'm feeling hopeful but the strange thing is I didn't even realise where I was in my cycle until I looked ar Ovia! If you'd asked me, I'd have thought AF was due in about a week so I think it's a good thing I haven't obsessed about the 2WW!

I hope everyone else is ok

How are you? @KerryW87 @VenusStarr?

How was your first day @Mumlili9?

Sakura54 · 25/08/2020 08:12

Never spoken to you before but thank you @Kiki275 @KerryW87 yes slightly reassured as at my last 12 week scan my MMC was discovered, but it's still early days.

Semele5069 · 24/08/2020 09:29

I had my 21 day bloods done this morning, so feels like some progress is being made. I'm trying not to get so hung up on the TWW this time but I always do as the end comes closer!

@AliceinBunnyland one of my bunnies is ill at the minute and that's worrying me. He's still eating so I'm hoping I can just nurse him through as I know what it is (he has a chronic health issue anyway and we've caught this flare up early). Just worried as I'm away over the weekend and my partner is great at looking after them if he has clear instructions but doesn't know them as well as I do so doesn't pick up on the same signs.

Kiki275 · 23/08/2020 22:00

@Mumlili9 Wow! That's awful support. I appreciate that their main focus is you but in the process a major factor in life has been taken away.
Hope you have a lovely first day tomorrow xx

BunnyLovesBananas · 23/08/2020 20:55

What a stupid thing for someone to say to you @Mumlili9 I hope your first day at work tomorrow goes well and at the very least gives you something positive to focus on

Mumlili9 · 23/08/2020 14:29

@Kiki275 exactly that I'm alive job done.

Spending today primping for tomorrow now, hair, lashes and nails. Taking up my new trousers cos I'm short and making my lunch for tomorrow. So im sorted for the morning

Kiki275 · 23/08/2020 07:15

@Mumlili9 Sod's law will mean the chances are much higher precisely when you don't want them to be. I've read on MN but not actually tried contraceptive sponges, which apparently can't be felt by either person.
I do hope the consultant didn't actually say that to you? I can't imagine many would find comfort in those words. Have they at least suggested any options for assistance to boost chances, or is it a case of "you're alive, job done" ☹️?x

Mumlili9 · 23/08/2020 02:13

@Kiki275 I don't think is so much the type of condom as I've always hated the feel on them no matter the brand type. Its the needing to use on at all that bothers me. After much research I will never take the pill again its not good for your body or mind. I think its going to be a very tough 3 months. Although I not sure we need bother at all as its been 6 months of timed dtd and nothing has happened and my consultant pretty much said its unlikely to happen for us now after all the damage caused during my ectopic surgery. But I should be grateful im alive right? (Rolls eyes 🙄 )

VenusStarr · 22/08/2020 21:24

Thanks for asking @Mumlili9, got an appointment in a couple of weeks. I've been incredibly anxious this last week, trying to work through that so have been quiet. I've got an acupuncture session next week, I actually called her yesterday to talk through how anxious I am, so she's going to help with that.

Good luck for Monday, putting yourself first is great :)

Hope everyone is OK xx

Kiki275 · 22/08/2020 19:13

@Mumlili9 try a few condom types as some are better than others. Before TTC and then losing the boys, we found Boots ribbed were the best for us. Plus, they have the bonus of being mess free and no wet patches. Sucks about the ovulation pains, hope your body takes it easy on you, you deserve the break xx

Mumlili9 · 22/08/2020 17:37

Hi ladies how are you all?

Been shopping and sorting my house out this week. New job so thought new me. I've had my eye lashes done, thats new never tried it before. Dyed my hair and bought a whole new wardrobe. Stopped wearing foundation and threw out heaps of crap from my house I horded and never use.

I'm feeling very out of sorts. DH and I used protection for the first time in 3 years last night and I have to say it really did stop the passion for me. It just felt all wrong not only the unpleasant condom but the rest felt wrong too. I hope the next 3 months isn't going to feel the same way. Oh and luck would have it I'm going to ovulate on the first day of my new job. So I'm going to spend my first day with ovulation paid good times (rolls eyes 🙄)

@venusstarr how's the progress with IVF coming along

BunnyLovesBananas · 20/08/2020 12:41

@KerryW87 Yeah I started logging it straight away in Ovia and then at least it was logged in case I wanted to speak to my doctor or bereavement midwife xx

@Kiki275 Hope you're okay. The significant dates are tough 💙

KerryW87 · 20/08/2020 11:59

@Kiki275
Oh, I wonder? I think they took my partner's details when we were in labour but to be honest I'm not sure, as you'll know it was a bit of an exhausted blur at times! Whatever the reason, I'm sure they'll have it sorted now after I phoned so it's fine.

Aww lovely, hope he has a great wee birthday when it comes! House refurb is a major one (we've been in ours a year and will likely be doing it for the next...five 😂) Here's hoping that's enough to keep you distracted and it doesn't feel as long a wait as normal 🤞 x

Kiki275 · 20/08/2020 11:56

@KerryW87 I wonder if they have him as Next of Kin details to you rather than the babies dad? It is odd though.

I'm on the TWW now, between DSs birthday and the house refurb, I'm hoping it'll fly by x

KerryW87 · 20/08/2020 11:54

@BunnyLovesBananas Ahh thank you for this, my lochia was heavy for 10 days then by 2 weeks it had stopped completely so that might be similar to you then? If this is my period then I'll make sure and note everything down and see how things go from here on out. Thanks so much :) Hope you're ok! xx

BunnyLovesBananas · 20/08/2020 11:50

@Kiki275

I will look that up too Smile

I recommend Katy Keane on BBC iPlayer!

@KerryW87 I'm just thinking... I had lochia for about ten days and then got my first period almost exactly 28 days after I gave birth (I know because period came by the time we had DD funeral) so must have been similar to you ie period came a couple of weeks after lochia stopped. My periods were a bit irregular eg had a 33 day cycle and a 26 day cycle but not overly so this could be about right for you x

KerryW87 · 20/08/2020 11:47

@Kiki275 I felt terrible about being sent home but the headteacher was really good about it, said she was surprised I've been in and cheery every day since the term started and not to worry about having a day off.

Wasn't sure what to do with myself but after having to sort out that potential disaster (my youngest is almost 9 so it's not as though my ex was in that ward with me just last year or something...very odd that it was his name and not my partner's!) maybe a wee day in the house wouldn't be such a bad thing! Thanks so much, hope you're having a good day and thanks for cheering me up today! ❤️❤️ Are you in the TWW now? xx

Kiki275 · 20/08/2020 11:40

@KerryW87
Excuse my language but F**k Work!!
Go home, get the duvet on the couch, put something good on Netflix (I totally recommend Anne with an E) for mindless heartwarming loveliness. Have a you day xx

KerryW87 · 20/08/2020 11:23

@Kiki275 @BunnyLovesBananas Thanks both of you ❤️ It is, it's really hit me hard today as I was so focused on getting back to TTC. I got a sympathy card from our maternity unit today but it was addressed to me and my ex partner which panicked me incase baby's details don't have his own dad's name on it! Phoned and tried to make sure they knew that I was totally fine about it and these things happen but could they just check that everything's right, especially since our boy is now able to be laid to rest and wanted any records to be right. They've said that they'll make sure everything is correct so I'm glad I phoned.

Also, the bleeding is now getting heavier so more like a period...but only two weeks after lochia stopped? So I guess I'll need to hold off on getting hopes up of falling pregnant straight away and be realistic. Been sent home from work today so it's just been a bloody SHAMBLES of a day 😂 Not to worry, you've all been through this too so I'll be fine x
