Hi guys,

This is my first post on mumsnet. I have recently stopped taking the pill (microgynon) on 22/04/20 and i had my withdrawal bleed from 24/04 to the 27/04. I am now waiting for my 1st period which is due in just over a week. My and my OH have decided the time is right and want to TTC just wondering if there is anyone else in the same boat on here 🙂

@KatieG200394 thank you lovely, fingers crossed for you and @MintGreenLife too! Ha my hubby seems well up for the everyother day sex, hopefully we can stick with it! Xx
@MintGreenLife that will make your TWW a bit longer now too I guess 😔 I found the first one difficult I was constantly symptom spotting, now know all the symptoms were AF 😂 will be glad to get back to work full time to keep my mind occupied for a good portion of the day!

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 12:04

Thanks so much for looking that up, I guess that must be what has happened! Hopefully OH won't be too tired later 😕 Thought I was 4DPO and may be right back to the start again 😂

Luxc90 · 03/06/2020 12:01

@MintGreenLife that's so frustrating I bet! I had a quick Google and came across this, this could be an explanation? Definitely try and get some sex in tonight to cover all bases!

@Luxc90 oh that's cruel, AF is the worst! Itsbmy first proper AF too after coming off the pill, I forgot how bad they were before I went on the pill too, a lot heavier than the withdrawal bleed last month, and the cramps 😫 I also forgot how unpleasant they are, they feel worse than when I was on the pill that's for sure. Yeah, I don't think my fiance realised it wasn't a one and done deal either, I've explained it to him now though and we're hoping to do the same, every other day until the peak then that day, and the 2 days after, might be a bit much though 😂 we'll see Smile I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and me that hopefully this is our month to get our BFP's xx

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:46

I've just done an OPK and seem to be having another surge! Regretting stopping testing yesterday now 🙈 OH is out all day too and not back until late. Really hope he will be up for it later. Will do another test this afternoon to see if it keeps increasing as not as high as last time. Honestly what is going on I can't keep up 😂 Oh gosh I know! If we caught around now or in the next we months we would have timed it perfectly re heat. Hopefully you'll be able to get an appointment soon. I've had a telephone consultation since lockdown, not sure if that would help?

@MintGreenLife it's such a mindfield isn't it? The impatient woman's guide does rate temp tracking highly so if you can stick with it and see it won't do no harm I guess? Yeah just waiting for gp to return to normal so I can get an appointment to discuss as if I could start changing med now I would, they're still so awkward about appointments for non emergencies atm though!
I'm just holding onto the belief that our bodies are still taking time to get used to being off the pill and it will fall back to normal eventually 😊 after the weather the last few days though I have decided I would definitely like to avoid being heavily pregnant in heat 😂

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:20

@Luxc90 message for you above xx

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:20

Thanks for replying ☺️ TBH I do wonder if charting BBT is a good option for me as I often get up to wee in the night a couple of times, get up to let the dog out and OH gets up earlier than me, so generally my sleep is distributed every few hours. I've also not been good at taking my temp at the same time as trying to figure out when is best given all of the above 🙈

Sorry to hear you're worried about having to come off your meds when expecting.

Hopefully you might be able to get a reccomendarion for an alternative.

I'm not sure really as my LH levels dropped straight back down again and I'm on CD 25 now with ovulation of CD20 so that was already quite late. I think I'll just assume I ovulated then, but will keep testing to be on the safe side xx

Luxc90 · 03/06/2020 11:09

@mintgreenlife. I haven't tried simply for the fact I cannot sleep without a sleeping medication and wouldn't be able to wake myself at 5am to take a temp, seen so many on here talking about it though! I know I will have to come off the med during pregnancy which is causing a bit of anxiety but will cross that bridge later! Brilliant that you got your surge maybe you're ovulating late?

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 10:20

Is anyone else tracking BBT as well as using OPKs? I got my LH surge last Friday, but my temps have been going down the last few days which doesn't make any sense. Think it's possible i didn't ovulate and my body is still trying to regulate my cycles after coming off the pill :(

Luxc90 · 03/06/2020 09:30

@KatieG200394 Me 🙌 I'm on CD4. Af arrived on Sunday at 10dpo, on my anniversary, how kind 😐. This is my first natural period after stopping the pill and I forgot how much I dislike them lol! Extremely bad cramps and much heavier than the week break of the bill bleed. Hubby was a bit disappointed we didn't conceive, thought because I used an opk and knew when I ovulated that it was a done deal so this cycle I'm not telling him and just going to have sex every other day from CD8. How about you?

KatieG200394 · 03/06/2020 08:00

Anyone else beginning a new cycle? I'm on CD 2 xx

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 11:28

@Luxc90

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 11:28

Ha me too! That's where I've found it - on the loo roll. I always curse myself after I've been for a pee and forgot to have a quick look, so ridiculous. I think for now I'll keep checking my cervix as don't feel to bad with it, and may give me an early indication that ovulation is coming before the OPKs pick anything up.

Haha it's so hard not to let your thoughts get carried away. I'm fairly certain I'm not in the TWW, but maybe if I haven't got AF or positive OPK in a couple of weeks I will do a test just to be sure.

Congrats on your wedding anniversary :) that would be a lovely surprise if you did get a positive on the day, but also quite possible you would see a negative even if you are pregnant so probably best to wait as you say to avoid disappointment :)

Luxc90 · 27/05/2020 11:23

@MintGreenLife definitely isn't going to be one of my checks that's for sure! I didn't even know ewcm was a thing until I joined here, now constantly checking the loo roll 😂. Yeah I'd stick with the opks and I'm sure it'll come eventually it is definitely hard to not be disappointed especially when I feel anyway I've spent my adult life preventing pregnancy and it isn't as simple as I thought! oh goodness I've done that too, just last night I was in bed thinking, what if that peak was a faulty test and I'm not actually in the TWW 😂 I think having no work due to lockdown is making my thoughts run a lot. I'm 6dpo now, so planning to hold out until 14dpo to test but Sunday is my wedding anniversary I'll be 10dpo then, it'll be hard not to test 🙈

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 11:14

@Luxc90 ^^

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 11:14

It's pretty daunting checking your cervix isn't it! I have to say it does freak me out a bit. I only started about a week ago, mostly because I was confused by what was going on with getting EWCM but still getting negatives on OPKs. I use the premom app and that gives you a level for your OPKs - I've never had anything more than 'low' so don't think I could have missed my peak as never even seen an increase on them at all. I do wonder that every now and then - am like 'did I actually ovulate around the time of EWCM and am I now in the TWW' but I really don't think that's the case.

Aww it's so hard not to get carried away isn't it! How long into the TWW are you? Is this your first cycle after coming off the pill? I'll carry on with OPKS for now, but am finding it a bit disheartening seeing the same result day after day ha x

Luxc90 · 27/05/2020 11:07

@MintGreenLife I've tried the cervix feeling but just can't get the hang of it, scared of rooting around up there and hurting myself lol! My opks never really went high apart from CD12, then I had a peak on CD13, assuming ov on CD14 then went right back to very faint lines CD15 and I tested a few days after just to be sure. I think some woman have low lh until right before ov and others seem to have a more steady build up. If this cycle isn't successful I'll see how next one is. Fingers crossed you're just having a one off once cycle of late ov! I'm in the TWW now, already finding myself day dreaming of babies and annoucing my pregnancy 🙈 x

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 10:59

@Luxc90 message above, I always have issues with being able to tag the last poster for some reason xx

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 10:58

CD17 now and no sign of ovulation. I totally get that because my cycle length was 30 days last time around now would be quite normal for ovulation, but I'm checking my cervix position which is low and hard, i.e non fertile, and OPKs haven't got any darker at all. If I was going to ovulate soon would expect to see some changes to my cervix and OPKs surely, so feel like it's probably not just a day or two late like I hoped. But on the other hand I did have EWCM four days ago...all very confusing! x

Luxc90 · 27/05/2020 10:54

@MintGreenLife what cycle day are you on now? I've read a few women on here with very irregular cycles since stopping the pill, incredibly frustrating I can imagine 😤

MintGreenLife · 27/05/2020 09:46

Morning everyone :) I wanted to ask if anyone has been off the pill for more than a month or two now? This is my second natural cycle on the pill, and I should have ovulated by now going on my first cycle which was 30 days, but I haven't. Was just wondering if anyone has any experience with fluctuating cycles fresh off the pill, or late ovulation? Thanks x

KatieG200394 · 27/05/2020 08:04

@JBCG I bought easy@home ones and Femometer ones off Amazon, but I did find that the line on the easy@home ones shows up better and is easier to see than the Femometer ones xx

Luxc90 · 26/05/2020 14:36

@JBCG Welcome! I bought the femometer ovulation strips from amazon, I think they were £10 for 50 and downloaded the app for them. So far I've found them pretty easy to use, when you've taken an opk you can take a picture of it on the app and it works out if you're at high or peak, now I did find that with the fainter lines it didn't pick them up at all, but with my peak it worked well. I tested once a day from the end of AF and then when I got a high I tested twice a day to make sure I didn't miss my peak :-) Best of luck in your TTC journey!
