Pregnancy after MMC

Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately I had a MMC on our second pregnancy last month. (I have a 1 year old)
I should of been 9 weeks at my Scan but baby was only 8 weeks 4 so it had just happened. 3 days later I had a private D&C as I didn’t want to risk the hospital/ the trauma of dealing with it at home with my little boy.
I had bleeding on and off for 2 weeks after (6th of April was the D&C) I had regular bloody tests, my last one my HCG had come down to 70 so 3 days later I got my first negative test.
I had an internal to confirm no retained pregnancy and was given the all clear to try again straight away. I’ve had cystitis this weekend to add to my problems and now I’m getting this on my tests. Had anyone experienced anything similar, what are your thoughts? Feel like my body’s just giving up on me haha! I’d love to be pregnant again but I’d just be surprised if it could all happen within such a small time scale
Thanks everyone

@msanne 😔 I can imagine. Ive honestly got pregnancy test anxiety. The thought of seeing a negative test terrifies me which is why I dont keep them in the house so I'm not tempted. Try to keep positive until AF shows up. It can take longer to get a bfp. Xx

msanne · 24/05/2020 13:06

Hey Ladies, I couldn't wait - I took a CB and it says "not pregnant" - must've been a false alarm! So gutted.

Am just going to have to wait out a few more days and see what happens. it all feels so cruel! xoxo

MrsTtobe · 24/05/2020 12:50

Here and waiting for your news lovely. @msanne I bet you're feeling nervous. It's only natural after everything we have all been through on here. But try to keep positive and countdown to that 12 week scan and then 20 week scan and then a beautiful healthy baby 🙏❤

msanne · 24/05/2020 12:02

@MrsTTobe - he is soooo anxious. I think he doesn't quite believe it and is scared at the same time, as now the wait until the 12 week scan starts (which is when we found out the bad news last time).

on the bright side though, although I have symptoms this time, I don't feel "bad". I felt shit from before I took the PT last time. So I am keeping my hopes up.

Man - I am soooo scared. I really hope it is a positive! Thanks for the love xoxo will report back soon! xoxo

MrsTtobe · 24/05/2020 11:45

@msanne this Is going to be the longest 2 hours of my life. 🙈 Really want this for you. Would love some happy baby news. Have you showed it to your oh? What does he think?

msanne · 24/05/2020 11:43

@Frankincense88 and @MrsTTobe - I am not drinking anything and waiting 2 hours - then will test again with a Clearblue! xoxo

MrsTtobe · 24/05/2020 11:36

@Tbug hey lovely, sorry for your loss. It's so awful but this thread has really helped me feel less alone at possibly the worse few weeks of my life. I personally didn't wait to dtd before my first AF. I took cd 1 from the first day I started bleeding. Mine was natural miscarriage too at 11 weeks. Think we waited for just over 2 weeks until bleeding had completely stopped.

@msanne
OMG! I have absolutely no experience with these tests. Ive only ever used CB but I can 100% see 2 lines on that!😱I'm excited! Do another one! 😊

Frankincense88 · 24/05/2020 11:29

@msanne ooooh not sure with that one! I'm the same as you - no experience with evap lines but fingers crossed it's a BFP!

@Tbug welcome! So sorry for your loss. I think the general 'advice' is to wait one cycle but I didn't, just waited until I felt 'ready.' Didn't catch last cycle but feel better having had first AF and knowing where I am with my cycle. Xo

msanne · 24/05/2020 11:24

Ladies,

I just went to the bathroom and my PT from this morning was just lying there....does this look at an Evap line or a start of a BFP?

Don't want to get my hopes up too much as I don't have any experience with evap lines....I would really appreciate your views....xoxo

Hi Ladies,

@Leaf87 how are you today? Hope you're feeling a bit calmer, please let us know how you get on tomorrow xoxo

@Tbug - so sorry for your loss. It's absolutely heartbreaking but time is a healer and you do get through it (with support)! I think the usual recommendation is to wait for one full cycle so that your body resets itself; however, having said that, there seems to be a lot of ladies on here that have conceived straight away, as you're more fertile after a miscarriage/termination (the irony)! I guess the best advice is to see how you and your OH feel and see what happens.

@MrsTtobe and @Frankincense88 - haha, i bet you ladies are exhausted! It will be worth it though! Fingers crossed for you girls xoxo

I'm on CD 29 today (usually a 28 cycle on the dot) and still no sign of AF. Every PT I take is showing negative, so am really confused as to what is happening.....I am going to wait until CD 31 and take a CB or FRER. Ah the waiting is awful!!

Thank god it's a BHWE xoxo

Tbug · 24/05/2020 10:32

Hey ladies, mind if I join? I was TTC for 13 months then finally fell pregnant and had a lovely heartbeat on an 8 week scan but was having brown discharge everyone said was normal but demanded scan Wednesday at 9+5 and turned out baby had stopped at 8+3 :( I misscarried naturally on Friday and cramping and bleeding has calmed down now. Did you wait till AF to have sex? I won't be tracking or anything did that for a year then stopped and got pregnant! Hope you're all ok ❤️❤️

Frankincense88 · 24/05/2020 10:25

@MrsTtobe to be fair I usually ovulate around day 17 so there's always tomorrow I guess! I just figured after 5 days of 'high fertility' on my OPK it might have changed. Decided to take a day off today and back at it tomorrow 😂

MrsTtobe · 24/05/2020 10:17

@Frankincense88 🤣🤣 its hard work isn't it. We've got a teen that's up till the early hours and a 2 yr old that's up at 6am so trying to fit it in around the kids is hard work. 🙈 The kids usually go to grandparents every other Sat and stay over so we can have a date night but with lockdown we've got no chance. 😭🤣
Im pretty sure (Going by my cycles pre miscarriage) that I ovulate around day 9ish give or take but I don't track. I would be a nightmare with it! When do you usually ovulate? Dont we have to dtd before ovulation though? Doesnt the sperm have to be kind of hanging around waiting for the egg? My basic sex education was clearly terrible at school! 🙈 I'm clueless. 🤣

Frankincense88 · 24/05/2020 09:57

@MrsTtobe CD16 here and still no bloody peak day! We've DTD 6 out of the last 7 days - I need a day off but worried I'll miss ovulation 😂😩

MrsTtobe · 24/05/2020 09:39

@Leaf87 bloody hell. That's shit! How can something so natural as getting pregnant be so complicated for us all. I honestly felt until a few months ago that people just got pregnant easily and fairly quickly and 99% of pregnancies were healthy and naturally go full term. How wrong I was! 😔
Hope you're ok. Would they not have picked that up on the scan though after mc? Why has it taken them till now to pick it up? Like you say all positive signs with AF etc so try not to worry. Keep us posted! Got everything crossed for you.

CD 10 here and we've dtd every day since Thurs! Im exhausted! 🤣 xx

Bells993 · 24/05/2020 07:14

thanks @Frankincense88 going to use them this time and see what happens!

@Leaf87 ahh I hope your okay! Try not to worry, like you’ve said you’ve had a negative test and your AF so all really good signs! Keep us updated! Xx

@MrsTtobe from what I can understand it means two sperm cells fertilised the one egg. The pregnacey was never going to be successful as there 26 extra chromosomes. This means the baby formed and a mass of cells formed along side. They have to monitor you because if any little cells are are left they will replicate causing a mass and your HGC levels to rise. If this happens in very extreme circumstances this can lead to chemotherapy. However it's rare with a partial mole more common in complete mole pregnancy (when the egg has no DNA). I am hopeful that because I have had a negative pregnacey test and Af that my hormone levels should be good on monday. However again from my understanding if my reading the monitor you every couple of weeks/months for a while to make sure your hormone levels do not rise as this would indicate you need more treatment. So TTC may be off the cards for now but you never know, I could be assuming wrongly.... hoefully..... Confused
I will see what my hospital says Monday and then hopefully we should know more. For now..... i am drinking Gin

MrsTtobe · 23/05/2020 18:13

Hey @Leaf87 hope you're ok. Ive got to be absolutely honest. Im completely clueless to what a molar pregnancy is? Ive heard the phrase a couple of times but not a clue what it means? What's the reason you can't try straight away? How have they picked it up etc? Keep positive please as hard as it is at times. X

Frankincense88 · 23/05/2020 15:34

@Leaf87 well make sure you look after yourself and take some time to breathe and relax this weekend (easier said than done I know!) xx

Leaf87 · 23/05/2020 15:31

@Frankincense88 @msanne thank you, I have been doing some of my own research and looked at the specialist clinics website. I think I feel ok if inhave understood it correctly. It may mean that we can not carry on trying for a few months. I will update you Monday when I know more! Thank you again ladies you are very supportive Flowers

msanne · 23/05/2020 14:59

@Leaf87 - sending you lots of love hun! Please wait until you've seen the specialists. Have a think about all the questions you have and write them down to take with you. If you've found anything that you have queries about from your own research then take this along to your appointment too. I've found it helps having it written down as I forget things in highly emotional situations.

I agree with @Frankincense88 - it's a good sign if your HPT are negative and AF has arrived. The hospital are probably just taking extra due care (as you deserve).

Here for you when you need us xoxo

Frankincense88 · 23/05/2020 13:42

@Leaf87 Oh no! Sending lots of 💕 I'm not too familiar with a molar pregnancy - does this mean you can't TTC for a while? Like you say, the fact you're testing negative and AF has arrived are hopefully both really good signs your body is recovering and resetting xx

Leaf87 · 23/05/2020 10:04

So last night at 6PM I am cooking my tea my phone rings. The hospital want to see me again Monday for blood tests and to discuss they think my pregnacey was a partial molar pregnancey. I am in complete shock, had a cry, trying not to panic! I have had negative tests and my AF had returned so hoping this is a good sign. Looks like TTC may be off the table for a few months.... just in shock

Frankincense88 · 22/05/2020 10:50

@Bells993 I use the Clearblue digital ones and I've got to say, last time they were spot on. The cycle I actually conceived last time we only did it on the day I achieved 'peak fertility' and the day after and I conceived. Hoping for the same this time around (but not holding my breath). I'm still in 'high fertility' zone so haven't ovulated yet but I'm thinking probably tomorrow or Sunday which is just as well because my husband is out of the house working today which would be terrible timing!

Bells993 · 22/05/2020 09:25

@Frankincense88 no still nothing 🙄 day 47 today! Will be 7 weeks from my surgery Monday

@leaf87 ahh good! Hopefully it not a bad one and resets ready for new month

@newbiejourney ahh so rubbish. But on the plus your body seems to of reacted perfect and got you back on track soon which is great! Were your cycles consistent previously to work out when you’ll ovulate?

I was CD 19 with my first baby, and CD13 with the MC! Got knows what I’ll be on my next cycle. I didn’t use ovulation sticks with my first but I used cheap ones with the MC which turned out to be wrong. Did any of you use the clear blue ones and it turn out to be accurate? Always wonder if they are a bit of a con xx
