Pregnancy after MMC

Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately I had a MMC on our second pregnancy last month. (I have a 1 year old)
I should of been 9 weeks at my Scan but baby was only 8 weeks 4 so it had just happened. 3 days later I had a private D&C as I didn’t want to risk the hospital/ the trauma of dealing with it at home with my little boy.
I had bleeding on and off for 2 weeks after (6th of April was the D&C) I had regular bloody tests, my last one my HCG had come down to 70 so 3 days later I got my first negative test.
I had an internal to confirm no retained pregnancy and was given the all clear to try again straight away. I’ve had cystitis this weekend to add to my problems and now I’m getting this on my tests. Had anyone experienced anything similar, what are your thoughts? Feel like my body’s just giving up on me haha! I’d love to be pregnant again but I’d just be surprised if it could all happen within such a small time scale
Thanks everyone

Thank you girls @msanne @Frankincense88 @mrsTtobe

@mrsTtobe We had no storms here im down south in Portsmouth, its ok to take it slow this time the apps and clothes can wait theyre always there support like this is most important congrats btw Smile

@Frankincense88 i think i ovulate on cd18 aswell, i did before mc haven't tracked Since but had some cramps on cd18 how long is your cycle? I used to be 28days but obviously not sure now. Will be cd28 tomorrow for me so we will see. Also sorry tmi but do you count cd1 as spotting brown or first day of red blood?

@msanne i found the same with apps last time they say different and gets confusing not what we need! How you feeling? Im being kept busy trying to potty train a toddler and working from home- too much wee on my carpet than i would like atm but i bought a carpet cleaner machine which i was very excited about how sad haha!

Xxx

MrsTtobe · 17/06/2020 08:48

Hey girls,
You're so right @Bells993, time has never gone so slowly. It's only been one week tomorrow since I did the test but feels like months ago. Trying to keep busy and its such a shame but im so scared to tempt fate that im steering clear of all things pregnancy related. 😔 last time I was ordering maternity clothes at 8 weeks ans following all the week by week pregnancy apps. I just can't bring myself to do it now. Miscarriage really does change us forever!

@msanne how are you getting on lovely? Trying to keep your mind off the tww? My oh is so laid back and keeps saying take it a day at a time but I'm impatient. 😬

@Jessie6 so sorry for your loss. It's so so hard. We all have slightly different stories but with one thing in common. We all lost our very wanted babies. These girls have amazing words of wisdom and have made me feel happy on some really dark days. Much love to you and lots of luck. ❤

On a different note... did you all have storms last night? Was horrendous here in the Midlands. Was like being in a film. Armageddon came to mind. 😳 xxx

msanne · 16/06/2020 19:47

@Jessie6 - I had a bit of waiting around in rooms full of pregnant women too - it is just dreadful.

According to my app - I am now on CD20. Period due in 1 week on one app and 2 weeks on another - I've got cheapie PTs - so I've got some money to burn - haha :) Think I will start on the 23rd but realistically won't get a solid result until at least the 28th. Defos not symptom spotting this time so just going with it - it's the only way I can keep my sanity!

Sending you all lots of love xoxo

Frankincense88 · 16/06/2020 19:29

@bells993 Yes! I'm due to test around 6th July I think so you're right it'll be about the same time! I'm just plain old circle on my OPK today so going to wait until about Thurs Friday before the marathon begins 😂 I usually ovulate around day 18 which will be the 24th so will see what happens!

@Jessie6 welcome lovely and so sorry for your loss. I was treated poorly in hospital as well and I'm still cross about it. Hopefully you can find some solace here - I've found this thread so supportive and helpful x

@msanne good luck with your TWW! Let us know when it's test day 💕

Jessie6 · 16/06/2020 18:48

@msanne Sorry for you loss its so hard isnt it, im glad your so positive thats how it happens again!! it was QA in Portsmouth I was asked 3 times how many weeks i was etc and there was no communication. Felt like i was begging to be seen all the time with a made up problem. At one of the scans they said to me after waiting over an hour someone else would be seen before me as they had a pregnancy complication and left me with pregnant women. It was if to say its too late for you so you can wait. I feel as though they deal with physical side...ish and dont even try and remember the emotional side as they see it day in day out!

I agree we learn so much from reading and only we know our own bodies! Im sure we could give drs run for money haha! After my last missed miscarriage it took 14 month to conceive but it was only when i stopped obsessing and had my mind taken off it (got engaged) it happened and have a nearly 2 year old now. It will happen again for both of us sending lots of luck your way! How far in your cycle are you? Appreciate your message really needed it so thank you keep me updated on your progress!!! Xxxxx

msanne · 16/06/2020 15:59

Hi @Jessie6 - That sounds so awful. So sorry for your loss. Which hospital was this at? I am based in near London and the sonographer who told me at my 12 week scan was awful but the aftercare I received was exceptional. I am so sorry you had to go through that.

Glad that you are on the mend now - this group of ladies has been invaluable for me during this time. If you ever need to vent - then we are here :)

On the upside - you will know in 2 days whether it is AF or a BFP. So you can start planning either way. Remember that AF symptoms are usually very similar to early pregnancy - so you can't be sure until you test.

Please know though, that if you don't get your BFP this month - you will eventually when your body is ready. I've only just recently come to terms with this, as I was very fortunate with both of my DC and conceived almost on my first cycle of trying with them. My 3rd pregnancy was the same - we got pregnant within 2 cycles of trying, without OPKs and just DTD when I thought I would be fertile. However, it was not meant to be and we are now on 2nd cycle of trying again. Although this time, I think I know more than the doctors do - thanks to all the information I have learnt on MN and general reading.

I am hopeful for a BFP - and will be disappointed if it doesn't happen this month. But I am certain, that my time will come again and I am just going to be open to it now. Please don't put more pressure on yourself than you already have. It will happen!

xoxo

Jessie6 · 16/06/2020 11:12

Hi girls,

Im very sorry for all your losses, i hope you dont mind me jumping in. It feels strange finding people going through the same as its been very lonely time. Ive recently had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks but it dragged on until i would have been nearly 16weeks. It was all too familiar as id had one a few years ago. Found it so difficult during covid with attending scans on my own etc. Felt like i got treated awfully and dismissed as i was refused a d&c and told i had to manage at home with mm. Then it didnt work which i knew and i had to pay for private scans as hospital refused to scan me which showed retained product. I was left so long i got an infection which two lots of antibiotics didnt clear up. I was calling drs and hospital in tears and was dismissed every time. Luckily it then happened and i was able to then wait for neg test. Im now on second cycle and 2 days away from af and dreading it i have cramps. Not ready for another negative.

I just feel like It was do much worse this time and my brothers wife is pregnant so its a constant reminder.

What a nightmare eh?! I hope we all get our positive soon and i send you all the best of luck Smile xxxx

msanne · 16/06/2020 10:19

@Bells993 - I have 2 apps which say AF is due on different dates. But I know I was at peak fertility on Saturday; so roughly 2 weeks from then puts me on the 27th. I'm trying not to wish the 2 weeks away.

xoxo

Bells993 · 16/06/2020 10:01

I’m good thank you girls! CD 15, not static yet still flashy. Been DTD every other day untill now. Predicted day is the weekend so I’ll ramp it up Thursday/Friday haha!

@Frankincense88 I think we will end up testing around the same time! I have long cycles so I think I’ll test around the 2nd week or July unless AF comes before!

@msanne ekkk well done! Well deserved break now, what date will you do your first test roughly? Can’t wait to hear some news!

Time is going SO fast, I can’t believe it’s June! We started trying December and I look back and think where the hell did that time go! @MrsTtobe time I bet is going so slow for you now. I was saying to my partner last night, if we do get pregnant that 3 month wait is going to be so so long! So exciting, just try and stay positive! You’ve had a baby before same as me so we know we can do it!

Xxx

Hi @Bells993. I'm into the TWW now (finally)! I got my static smiley on Saturday :) didn't dtd too many times as was already so exhausted so am just going to have to wait and see now.

I've got the week off this week, so work stress has been replaced by homeschooling stress. MIght venture out on a play date later on today if the sun holds out.

@Frankincense88
xoxo - ahhh weekend isn't far away. Get lots of rest for the upcoming marathon! I was so out sync, I found it exhausting when it shouldn't be!

@Bells993 - how are you hun?

@MrsTtobe - each day forward is one day closer to the end goal. You've got this!

Sending you all lots of love xoxo

MrsTtobe · 16/06/2020 08:05

Morning all,
Yes im ok thank you @Bells993 not really feeling much different. Really tired but ive got a 2 yr old that doesn't sleep so tired is just every day life anyway. 😂 I've got major toilet anxiety! I still feel 'wet' all the time and keep running to the loo to check it's not blood. 😔 A time when I can actually relax a little feels so far away.

How are you all and where are you all in your cycles now? Xxx

Frankincense88 · 16/06/2020 07:52

@Bells993 Morning lovely! How're you? CD10 here so heading into FW. Back at work full time and it's so intense I was in bed at half 8 last night!! Hopefully a chilled one this weekend with lots of DTD 😂

@mrsttobe hope all is well with you - I've been sending positive thoughts your way! Xx

Bells993 · 16/06/2020 07:48

@bells993 yep just keep going until it's a solid face! I'm starting my testing tomorrow as it'll be CD8! I usually ovulate around day 18 so will be DTD as much as possible! xx

Bells993 · 13/06/2020 08:27

@Frankincense88 oh I see! I didn’t realise that haha, so I’ll just keep testing now every morning untill I get the solid face!
Thanks so much xxx

Frankincense88 · 13/06/2020 08:01

@Bells993 yeah so I had this last cycle, Basically the first day you test will always be low fertility because it's syncing with your hormones. I then had like 8 days of high fertility flashing smiley and until you reach your peak it will always be a flashing smiley, even if you dip it in water. You're only meant to test once a day with FMU so don't try and do multiple because it's a waste. Does that make sense? Xx

Bells993 · 13/06/2020 07:32

Posted this on a new thread incase you girls have any advice with it please @Frankincense88 @MrsTtobe @msanneeveryone

First month using the Clearblue Opk, looking for some advice please. This is my first cycle after MMC I’ve already had 1 DC both pregnancy’s I ovulated around the 18th I’d each month and I normally have 33 day cycles.

I started testing yesterday at CD10 and had a negative then this morning I’ve got a flashing face for high fertility. Any ideas if only have one test day before can affect the results. I know the MC could of messed up my cycles but I never thought everything would go shorter! I’m not going to take it as gospel and still DTD every two days but any ideas/advice would be great (my cheap ones from amazon with premom say low but they were SO wrong with my MC pregnancy)
Thank you

@Bells993
I’ve done a few tests and they’re all basically negative. The lines are barely visible to the naked eye.
I’ve woken up and feeling much better. Still sad and like you say, I don’t think you ever forget but I’m looking forward to just being intimate with my fiancée again and just feel “normal” and then try later on in the year.
We weren’t trying, it just happened but it’s made us realise that we do want to desperately be parents. Our plan was to wait a couple of years and then start trying but I think this experience was meant to happen and we will get our baby one day🥰 x

Bells993 · 12/06/2020 11:07

@Chicken123 I’m so sorry, I realised you said you wanted to wait now. I read the post the other day and just replied today trying to give my support haha! What a donkey!

Bells993 · 12/06/2020 11:05

@MrsTtobe ahhhh such lovely news! Can’t wait for your updates!

@Chicken123 it’s so common, I couldn’t believe it when I found out the odds. I think from going through it myself and these stories on this thread alone all I can say is it takes time, but time does heal. Let your body do what it needs too, make sure you get a negative test before you start trying again and just listen to your body. It’s taken me 9 weeks nearly to have a proper AF and now I feel so much more comfortable trying again. I thought I was pregnant 4 weeks later (the start of this thread) and I just set myself up for disappointment. Hopefully being only 5 weeks your hormones come down super quick for you and you can start the journey again! @MrsTtobe is all the proof you need it can happen quickly.
How long were you trying for before?

Started my Clearblue ovulation tests this morning so will see what happens over the next 10 days I think I’m usually a day 18ish for ovulating xxx

@msanne @Leaf87 @MrsTtobe @Frankincense88
Thank you so much for your replies. The past couple of days have been easier and I’ve fully accepted what has been happening.
I know how common MC were but as a woman you never think it’ll happen to you and you’d be one of the statistics.
I was super early, only made it to 5+1 when it happened but no matter how far along you are, you still create a bond from the start.
I’m sorry to hear of all of your experiences. This site is great for speaking to women who have gone through or going through what we individually are.
It’ll be our time one day, and when it is, it’ll be so magical x

Frankincense88 · 12/06/2020 08:41

@MrsTtobe that is soooo lovely to hear, I'm so pleased for you! Fingers crossed this month is the month some of us can join the BFP club! Xxx

@chicken123 so sorry to hear about your loss. Like @MrsTtobe says, all of us here have gone through it so can empathise completely. I too struggled to come to terms with whether I'd ever feel joy again but the pain does ease over time. You just need to allow yourself to be sad and take each day as it comes. Xxx

MrsTtobe · 12/06/2020 08:18

Morning girls, hope you're all ok. I blurted it out to oh yesterday as soon as he walked in the door from work. We both just cried then laughed then cried again. Then he went out and brought a pk of 2 tests so I did another 2. One about 6pm and one before bed. Both bfp, we just started at them and cried some more. 🙈
Thank you so much to you ladies. I often imagine what the people look like behind these funny names. What their personalities are like, what their homes look like etc. 🤣 But I do know you have become my friends and you've made me feel so much better. I came to this thread at the worse and most saddest time of my life and there are no words to tell you all how much your words have helped. So thank you and I will be staying on here, I want to be around to see you all get your bfp! ❤

@Chicken123 I'm so sorry for your loss. This is the best place to be. You are not alone. Everything you are feeling and physically going through, we understand, we've all been through it and like I think @msanne said you will never forget but time will heal. There was a time I thought I would be sad forever but each day you will get a little stronger. Lots of love to you x

Leaf87 · 11/06/2020 18:09

@Chicken123 I am so very sorry that you have had to go through this. It is very difficult as @msanne says it does not go away but it does get easier. Writing it down and sharing your experience with other people does help. We start as strangers but in all honesty these women have helped me work through most of my emotions. I missed carried at 11.5 weeks at the end of march and am still experiencing complications now time definitely helps. You and other half will know when the time is right for you.
Sending big love Flowers

msanne · 11/06/2020 16:36

@Chicken123 so sorry for your loss. How far along were you? It isn't easy at any time when these things happen - and it doesn't feel like it could happen to you - until it does.

I was devastated for the DD we lost but I can honestly say that hand on heart that you do move on (never forget). A saying that sticks with me is that "you can't pour from an empty cup". Be kind to yourself, these things happen far more often than we know, and when the time is right for you - you will get your rainbow baby.

Sending you lots of love xoxo
