@Skip86 Best thing anyway just DTD every other day, although it can become a bit blah, we did that last cycle (did miss quite a few days cause life sometimes gets in the way & well a 5 year old hahaha) 😂 SMEP is such a routine, weve had to make laughs & jokes about it trying to keep it a bit light hearted too so it doesnt become a chore 🙈 I'm on CD4 so still have AF, planning to start testing & DTD on Monday which will be CD8. Where are u in this cycle im so bad at remembering 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Minster2012 How funny is it when those nights happen, but not funny if it was ovulation day or FW week 😂 what CD are u? Maybe 8 sticks could be enough, if not maybe order cheapy OPKs to get u through rest cycle just incase.

Minster2012 · 14/05/2020 08:43

@Skip86 that’s what I thought, if we did it last night it would just be because & I didn’t want to do it like that, rather have better sex tonight! 😂so will make an effort for that instead, so now got 8 sticks left & really hope I don’t have a long cycle 😂 might leave a couple of days & hope it turns to a smile - fingers crossed for you too, it’s frustrating

Skip86 · 14/05/2020 08:32

@LittleRa I don't see any reason why you wouldn't ovulate this cycle. Do you usually have physical telltale signs like EWCM, cramps etc?

@Minster2012 haha oh dear 🙈 that sort of thing happens with DH and I all the time, a little tiff and there's no way we're touching each other! You're still far enough away from peak though so I wouldn't worry too much, just have make up sex tonight 😂

Minster2012 · 14/05/2020 07:41

Argh I’m so annoyed poker night didn’t end well after I sat in the same room as DH & poker soon after mine had finished which annoyed him (there’s only so many rooms 🤣) so he made a snarky comment & I did so we ended up not DTD.

This morning I thought my CB digital had stopped working after DS got hold of it yesterday & I wrangled him, luckily 2 sticks down & it is working but 2 sticks wasted.

Urgh not a great start.

LittleRa · 14/05/2020 07:41

Does anyone know whether it is likely I’ll ovulate this month, after having come off the pill and had a withdrawal bleed, now on CD 15 if counting from start of withdrawal bleed. Or is it a totally lost cause until I have another period? We’ve been DTD at least every other day since what would be CD 6. I just don’t know whether to count this time or if it totally doesn’t count? I’m not using OPKs or anything like that yet.

Skip86 · 14/05/2020 05:27

@KRK05 I'm not gonna lie, it's a pretty great place! ☀️🐠
Once upon a time I used to be so so sure of when I ovulated. I never tracked but was really regular (28 days literally to the hour!), and had the usual EWCM and pains around CD14. However over the last few years it's become less predictable, and even less so agin since MC in feb.
I'll just stick with DTD every other day for now, even when I really can't be effed 😂 but if I don't get a smiley by tomorrow I think I'll be really put out!
I can't remember, have you started opks this month? Where are you at? X

KRK05 · 14/05/2020 01:16

@Skip86 Ah so jealous, I'd love to live someplace warm & at the beach would be my dream 😍 do u know when u normally ovulate? SMEP is gonna be tiring, or maybe it's just the thought 😂 I think il cry if I keep getting ⭕ il be thinking theres something wrong with me I know what I'm like, I'm so impatient too 🙈

Skip86 · 14/05/2020 00:14

Thanks girls, I do love it here! I have travelled all over the place but Aus is the place for me! I did spend 6 months in the UK before I met my now husband, but found it a bit too... cold! Haha! I'm a beach bum 😝

Well I'm now on day 4 of ⭕️ and getting impatient. We're loosely trying SMEP this month but I feel so unmotivated to DTD on low fertility days, kind of want to save it up for when it counts!

Missgoldilocks · 13/05/2020 21:13

@Skip86 I went to Australia recently absolutely beautiful! My sister lives there in Sydney :) we went to Sydney and cairns really lovely x

KRK05 · 13/05/2020 14:51

@Skip86 Oh wow Australia, my OH has some family there none that he knows though. I'm in Scotland. Prices for CB are the same here, mines was a little bit more expensive than that cause I bought it from the chemist but online there generally around £28.

@Minster2012 Hahahaha 😂😂 it is poker night after all! My OH is already asking the plan of DTD & it's only CD3, we will see if hes that enthusiastic when it's near the end of FW.

@Ltay2 You're covered DTD every other day anyway, were just wanting to give SMEP a try this month see if its successful 🤞🏻

Minster2012 · 13/05/2020 14:41

@Skip86 that’s the same price as Dr Fertility here so yeah they are expensive, with 11 sticks left I don’t know whether to buy more (& therefore would spend £60 on getting 2 lots of 20 & pregnancy tests?) or leave it til next month beating in mind I have 11 sticks & IC HCG test strips ... oh & probably quite infertile so the sticks are likely more needed than the tests 😂

@Ltay2 don’t write the 3 days off yet before you’ve started!!

Ltay2 · 13/05/2020 14:11

@KRK05 I know it has gone fast hasn't it, you had me questioning if I'd got it right then but I definitely have 😂 we are aiming for DTD every other day from CD10. Will try as much as possible to stick roughly to SMEP although very much doubt we will get 3 days in a row around ovulation! 4 times in FW and I'll be happy!

Skip86 · 13/05/2020 14:08

@KRK05 Australia! 🦘
I did wonder though, I've been banging on about how expensive CB are but perhaps they're even worse here? A CB advanced here is about $42, I think that's about £28 (well, that was before the dollar plummeted!)

@Minster2012 no excuses not to poke you after poker night!!
I've seen a few people go straight from O on day 1 to flash smiley on day 2 so I really do think you'll be ok 😊😊

Nearly my bedtime 😴

Minster2012 · 13/05/2020 13:42

@Skip86 I’m really hoping it’s to sell more sticks the swines!! I got a big fat O this morning on day 10 so I’m hoping it remembers me from last month!!

@KRK05 I’m with you on the ICs, though I’m doing them Cos it’s cheaper & im trying to learn I find it quite stressful with a toddler as (prior to potty training) we were outside as much as possible & it’s quite tying. 2 grumpy do not make a right you are right on that!!

More positive day today & def a DTD day, I thought DH was waking me after his alarm for that as DS was still asleep as he’s playing zoom poker tonight & I’m talking to my mates....but no. He just bloody woke me up. Humph. So I told him “you’ll still have to poke’er tonight then...me 😂, no shirking” 🤣

KRK05 · 13/05/2020 13:22

@Skip86 Thanks for all your help lovely on the CB 🥰 everything is just so confusing, a lot to get your head around haha. I agree though I am only using for a few months (if I'm not lucky enough to get that BFP) to get a better understanding of my cycle cause the cheapy OPKs are so much harder work, or maybe just are to me cause I've never used them properly 🙈 where are u from btw that it's a complete different time zone?

@Minster2012 Its so not like OH to fall asleep during the day hes not a napper so felt wee bit sorry for him but then he was grumpy rest of the night so that's probably why he doesnt nap, I couldn't wait for him go to bed later on 😂 cause I get grumpy when I'm on AF so 2 grumpys doesn't go together too well hahaha...

@Ltay2 CD7 already? Wow that's went fast! I'm on CD3 now so eager to get started on my OPKs & DTD. Doing SMEP so technically should start CD8, hope I dont ovulate too late in my cycle or be knackered by time I do 🙈

Skip86 · 13/05/2020 09:11

@Minster2012 I am sure that will be fine! I really do think CB just want people to use loads of their product so say to test way earlier than you need to.

Skip86 · 13/05/2020 09:08

@CMM20 I should add though that I am basing all of this on CB instructions and advertising and it's very possible that the 'baseline' thing is just so you use more sticks and spend more money! I'm sure if you did accidentally or purposely miss a day that it would be totally fine 😊 Good luck!

Minster2012 · 13/05/2020 09:07

I’m hoping I haven’t messed mine up, I started on day 8 last time but this time because was wrangling toddler in the morning & thought I have limited sticks (I actually have 12) then I’ve started today on CD10 with the CB advanced. Oh well, we will see

I know exactly what you mean @Ltay2 I hate those days Cos you still can’t stop thinking about it but can’t do anything 🤷‍♀️

CMM20 · 13/05/2020 09:01

@Skip86 Yes, makes perfect sense- Thank you so much for your help :)!

Skip86 · 13/05/2020 08:54

@CMM20 with a 28 day cycle yes I think you should keep going!
So with those tests you start from the date in the instructions, according to the average length of your cycle, so you were absolutely right to start testing on CD8. Then you test every day using first urine of the morning, until you get a flashing smiley face. You start testing early and regularly in your cycle so that the holder can find a baseline for your hormone levels. Don't worry if you get the ⭕️ symbol for a few days, that's totally normal and necessary!
Once you get a flashing smiley you can possibly test more than once in a day, but personally I prefer using cheap test sticks alongside the CB for when I'm in fertile window because CB is so expensive!
As an example I started testing CD8 (28 day cycles too) and am CD10 now, have had 3 days of ⭕️, but expect a flashing smiley in a day or two.

Hope that makes sense!

CMM20 · 13/05/2020 08:34

Hi @Skip86, yes- the CB digital ovulator tests with the circle/ static/ flashing face. So you would recommend doing it everyday? Thank you, this is such good information- I'm such a novice so any help is so appreciated! Cycle is normally a regular 28 days :)

Skip86 · 13/05/2020 08:30

@CMM20 do you mean the CB digital with the circle and smiley faces? With those ones you do need to use it everyday to get a baseline so I probably would advise against taking a break until Saturday. How long are your cycles usually?

CMM20 · 13/05/2020 08:25

Morning! CD 8 over here- Am using the CB OPK's this month to try and guide us a little as cycle 1. Was due to stat testing today but a big fat circle- going to leave it a few days, carry on DTD every couple of days and maybe start testing again on Saturday. This part seems like a funny time- I feel a little useless and theres nothing I can really do- Anyone else ever feel like that?!

Ltay2 · 13/05/2020 08:06

Morning everyone! How are you all doing?

I am CD7 today, feeling positive but not much to think about at the moment! Taking all my supplements and trying to chill before the madness begins. Going to start OPKs on Sunday (CD10).
