Coming off of the pill

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences on coming off of the pill and whether or not they started to try and conceive straight away? And if you did start straight away how long did it take you to get pregnant? I'm in this situation now and I'm wanting some insight.

Thank you in advance FlowersFlowers

Same situation! Been off it for a few months now after 7 years (Microgynon) and haven’t had a period or bleeding yet.

Following this thread! :) x

I came off pill on 23rd March and started my proper period today. So it was four weeks and four days for mine to return. I did actually try to conceive last month but obviously didn't work 😕 however I feel more confident this month about TTC as I've had a month of tracking ovulation etc. I feel more in tune with my body than I ever have before.

@ShellMc2237 Ive had bad acne since stopping the pill as well. My skin is usually really good.
I initially went on the pill 16 years ago due to very painful periods to the extent I would almost pass out with the pain. Over the years I have tried several different pills and the Evra patch due to various side effects of each. With the Evra patch I had severe PMS to the extent I was suicidal so i switched to the Lucette pill. I still suffered with PMS but the suicidal thoughts had gone. I made the decision the stop the pill in December to see if my mood improved (as well as me and my partner also want to TTC later in the year). But I have to say I'm definitely much happier since stopping my pill. I'm just putting up with the painful periods now!

I came off the pill at Christmas after being on it for 15 years, had 3 regular periods then one late one on 4th month and it was more like a 'proper' one rather than withdrawal bleed like the last 3. Hoping things will settle down a bit more now though.

I want to ask has anyone had any symptoms since coming off? I've had terrible acne which I never had before, and also I had to change pill 3 times over the past few years due to bad PMS and being angry/ down all the time, but now I just feel like I'm raging with anger sometimes so don't know if it's made my PMS worse Confused

I’m came off the mini pill middle/end of Feb, first period came March and second in April.
Didn’t come off it to ttc yet, purely just for mental health reasons x

I was on the combined pill for 16 years. Stopped in December. Periods came back within 6 weeks and have been regular since. Not actively TTC but was planning for later on this year but if it happens sooner we wont be disappointed.

Came off start of March and had one period just three weeks after end of withdrawal bleed. Not convinced that everything has settled down cycle-wise yet, guess we'll see when next period is.

bluebell94 · 21/04/2020 16:44

It took me 6 months of trying. But I did only have 2 periods and 2 very long cycles in that time, I'd been on it for 11 years I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Good luck x

I came off the pill and conceived after 8 months which is a normal amount of time.

Serz88 · 21/04/2020 16:38

In the same situation! Waiting for my period, but I was on microgynon so always had a monthly period unlike some pills. Spoke to my GP today who advised taking pregnacare to get my body ready for pregnancy, lots of places have 3 for 2 at the moment

jdw1991 · 21/04/2020 16:34

Wow guys thank you for the response. I understand it can take a long time for some and very quickly for others. I've been watching videos on conception and ovulation after the pill on YouTube so interesting! Xxxx

I came off the pill and had a period about 6 weeks later. At the beginning we weren't too preoccupied with ovulating days etc but also didn't abstain until I got my first 'proper' period. Stopped taking it in the January and became pregnant around July time

20viona · 21/04/2020 15:30

Came off the pill conceived 6 weeks later and currently running round after my 9 month old. I was on cerezette previously for 14 years.

firstimemamma · 21/04/2020 15:23

I came off the pill and we abstained until I'd had a 'proper period' to give my body a chance to get back to normal. Once I'd had my period we started ttc and luckily managed to conceive straight away, age 27.
