Coming off of the pill

jdw1991 · 21/04/2020 15:16

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences on coming off of the pill and whether or not they started to try and conceive straight away? And if you did start straight away how long did it take you to get pregnant? I'm in this situation now and I'm wanting some insight.

Thank you in advance FlowersFlowers

blodyn91 · 05/06/2020 13:04

@chars when did you come off the pill?

Chars84 · 05/06/2020 13:03

I stopped my pill same time and still no bleed I am worried I am not ovulating

Chars84 · 05/06/2020 13:01

I had the coil in for 5 years got it out January and started using mini pill have been off it on ttc and was wondering how long should I expect to conceive. I dont have periods so really dont know if I am even ovulating or not I have 2 kids already and fell pregnant so easy with them

Thunderpants5138 · 05/06/2020 10:30

@serz88 I have been absolutely fine. Other than the first week off being absolute agony it was the answer to my payers in terms of being regular!

Serz88 · 04/06/2020 21:18

Oh no that's terrible :( well hopefully we are near the end of this awful tunnel and there's a positive pregnancy test at the end of it!!

blodyn91 · 04/06/2020 20:58

@Serz88 same here! Wedding- new house- OH new job all cancelled 😩 just hoping one thing goes right

Serz88 · 04/06/2020 20:55

Good luck @blodyn91! Will keep my fingers crossed for you. In a perfect world I would fall pregnant within the next couple of months but I highly doubt it. Nothing else has worked out this year haha

blodyn91 · 04/06/2020 20:46

@Serz88 similar to you, wedding postponed till June 2021.
Came off the pill April 9 (microgynon 10 years), had a withdrawl bleed, then a proper period 9th of May, been TTC this cycle, using only an app so Im just hoping I ovulated. My pregnancy test should be arriving tomorrow!

Serz88 · 04/06/2020 19:51

@thunderpants5138 how did you get on with levest? I was so nauseous on it I had to go back to microgynon. They tried me on rigvedon too and that was the same. I'm 25 and have PCOS too so fingers crossed for us both!

Thunderpants5138 · 04/06/2020 09:26

Hi guys!
Hope you don't mind me jumping on here. I'm currently 25 and just starting TTC #1.
I was on nexplanon since being 16 but suddenly started having a period every other week. Prior to that it was usually 1 period every 3/4 months which only lasted 2/3 days. Went to doctors and had tests which we found out I had PCOS. So I switched to the Levest pill back in July last year. We have now made the decision to TTC as we are fully expecting it to take a long time.
I stopped the pill 29th April and had withdrawal bleed 2nd-6th May and just started first natural AF on 1st June. Shocked is an understatement for this as I've never been regular due to the PCOS (however I think the myo inositol I've been taking May have a part to play in that)
Wishing you all luck!!

Hayl6 · 03/06/2020 23:37

Hey, hope you don't mind me jumping on here.
I stopped taking the mini pill (cerelle) on 24th may, already had a withdrawal bleed 28th-30th so now just waiting to get my first proper period. TTC baby #2 Smile

Serz88 · 03/06/2020 23:12

Sorry but what does CD stand for? (guessing consecutive day) I have no clue.
Update I have come on my period so this is my first natural one after stopping the pill and having the withdrawal bleed last month. I was 10 days late but think that's pretty good considering I've been on the pill for 9 years.
My wedding was supposed to be this August but has now had to be postponed until next August, but we are going ahead with TTC so we shall see what happens

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/05/2020 09:50

Sorry, I should introduce myself to the overall thread (apologies for triple post!!!):

31 years old, 12 years on Microgynon then Rigevidon (which I think are the same active drug), came off mid-March to TTC. CD72 with no period but had first positive ovulation yesterday and day before.

Serz88 · 29/05/2020 09:44

Thanks for that! So it said the test could be out of date which it isn't, could be too much urine but I made sure it definitely wasn't that the second time and still the same thing. Apart from that could be a dodgy test but seems weird it's happened twice

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/05/2020 09:44

Sorry, I see people above have talked about how irregular periods can be post pill. Regarding tests, you have been unlucky and got two dud ones! Found this online for tips on why there might not be a control line:

"The line in the control window isn't visible when first opening the wrapper, but it should appear in the testing time period. If it doesn't appear, the test hasn't worked. It could be because too little or too much urine was applied, the tip wasn't kept pointing downwards, or the test wasn't laid flat after testing. "

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/05/2020 09:40

Hi @Serz88 - if you were on something like microgynon/Rigevidon you did not have a true period in the break as you weren't releasing eggs (which is what that pill prevents). It can take 3-6mo for your cycles to normalise in any way. I am CD 72 after coming off the pill and having a withdrawal bleed and have only just had a positive ovulation test. So I would now be expecting my first post pill period (or a BFP if super lucky) in the next few weeks. What I'm trying to say is that your period may not be on time for a few months.

Not sure about the lack of control line though! Do the instructions say why that could be?

Serz88 · 29/05/2020 08:24

Hey ladies!
When on the pill I had the 7 day break every month and would have a period every month as normal. This is my first month off of the pill and I am now 6 days late. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests (I know it is SO unlikely and not getting hopes up) and both have come back inconclusive with no control line. I have followed the steps and reread them again today. Both were first morning wee too. Anyone had the same thing?

happytobeheresparkl · 25/04/2020 19:10

Took me three years.

Serz88 · 25/04/2020 19:05

Haha I couldn't agree more! I see people post stuff on here and I am totally baffled?

Eppy123 · 25/04/2020 18:03

@Serz88 I know, I feel so uneducated on it all but it’s drilled into you from very young that sex = babies and you try to prevent it! Madness that I’m nearly 30 and trying to figure it out haha

Serz88 · 25/04/2020 17:00

@eppy123 oh OK that makes sense I was regular before and have always had them. It fascinates me how different all of our bodies are and yet we are taught at school that there is a certain way it works

Wanderlust21 · 25/04/2020 16:55

Came off the pill last june (not for trying tho). Probably only had 4 periods since then. So that's 10 months and they haven't returned to 'normal'. Mycrogynon too I think...10 years. Actually I think a few years bk it changed to ridgevideon. Or the other way about, cant remember.

So yeah, wouldn't hold out much hope for a normal cycle for a while. Mine seemed to start off normal and then changed its mind lol.

Eppy123 · 25/04/2020 16:48

@Serz88 I had irregular periods before starting the pill and didn’t always have a withdrawal bleed on the ‘week off’. I went to the GP about it a few years ago and she said not to be concerned so I haven’t really thought anything of it until now!

Serz88 · 25/04/2020 00:00

@eppy123 I was on microgynon for 9 years and would take it for 21 days with a 7 day break which is when I would have my periods. Was this not the same for you??
